Misleading
Returned. 1Gbps capacity is NOT the 1Gbit/gigabit. I’m betting they say this because 5x 100 Mbit, in both directions (from the switch’s ports and to the switch’s ports) is a total of 1Gbps, but no one else advertises switches this way. Misleading on purpose. Makes a slow switch appear as if it’s fast, when it absolutely is not.

*** DON’T buy this switch ***
I purchased 20 units some time back. We have since had several of them emit SMOKE when Ethernet cables were plugged in!! I immediately pulled all existing units and threw them in the trash. Will never buy TrendNET again – ever.

simple DC powered 5port Fast Ethernet switch
Does what it’s supposed to do.Simple, no frills, DIN rail mounted switch that can be powered by two independent DC power supplies. The DIN rail clip is Aluminum and strong enough but not super solid. we use a DIN mounted MeanwellPSU with 24Vdc without any issues. The switch chip is a simple 100Mbit/s 5 port. Do not expect high network bandwith from this device.

Decent TEMPORARY stand in for AB 1783-ETAP
TRENDnet 5-Port is a decent stand in for AB 1783-ETAP if you’re in a bind with the recent ETAP delays and using Stratix switches is not an option. This is NOT a permanent replacement for ETAP, but does work – it’s roughly the same size, it’s quick can easy to install/replace, can be assigned an IP, ethernet devices will connect/run fine.Issues (when using this switch in place of an ETAP in your network) – Not supported by AB, does not support ring topology, time to reestablish connection after power cycling is longer and increase significantly with more switches the network.Overall, it works well as a stop gap while waiting for actual ETAPs to arrive.

Does the job for less money.
Seems like a good quality industrial network switch. I used it in a control panel with a PLC and touch screen.

It works
I have it installed on a DIN rail in the attic. It hasn’t been through the full range of temperatures yet, so we’ll see. Of course, I had to buy and hook up a power supply for it, bur this was not a big deal.

Got for industrial use, not for home use
It mounts nicely on a DIN rail but you can’t easily access the release spring once it is mounted. This makes it hard to release it from the rail or move it once you have it in place. It is fairly low power and has support for dual power supplies. It doesn’t come with it’s own 12v adapter but if you are running this in a DIN rail built enclosure you probably have a 12v din power supply. If not then you will need to get one.

Very good switch for use in tight location.
Needed a switch on the receiving end of a ubiquity link for network expansion to a remote building 800 ft from main building. Din rail mounting and power supply connections made location and power an easy task.

speed thru switch is NOT what is claimed, by far
Beware if you’re buying this to hook to a fast fiber connection. When they say it has 1gpbs transfer rate they’re referring to all 5 ports COLLECTIVELY it seems. Individually in the specs it says 100 meg half-duplex, 200 full. Frankly, that could be made a little more plain in the large promotional print, kind of to the point of being at least a little misleading. I found this out by connecting to a 500mbps fiber service. Directly out of the modem ethernet I get 500mbps. If I go thru this switch I get about 90mbps. Returning.

Din rail mountable.
Din rail mount is solid. Switch performance seems fine. No issues.
