Bought to Use for Emergency News
After looking at the features and reading many of the reviews I took a chance on purchasing this handy little 9 inch tv. For much less than $100 I feel like you get your money’s worth. It has 2 antennas, a remote control, and both AC and DC power capability. Programming the channels was a little tricky to understand, but if you are a little on the techy side like me you will figure it out. It does Not pickup any tv channels right out of the box without scanning for them first. When I ran the auto channel scan feature it pulled in I think over 10 local channels. I wasn’t able to receive all of the ones I wanted, but still enough for the Emergency coverage I would need. The antenna is always the limiting factor in getting the best reception on any tv. If your tv stations are not within about 5 miles of your receiving location you might struggle to pickup the tv signal with the supplied antennas. I was not expecting the internal battery to give me much run time since this tv draws almost 1 amp of power, but I have an external 8 ah battery supply that I built myself that can power it for about 6 hours. Bottom line for me, I want to be prepared to get current news reports when there is a power outage, storm, or whatever and I think this tv will fill that need for my family and me. And, the remote control is a nice additional feature too.UPDATE 5 YEARS LATER – Fortunately there have been no emergency power outages where I’ve needed this tv. But I set it up and turned it on today and It still gets an excellent picture. I rescanned the channels and for the major metropolitan city where I live the tuner found 46 OTA (over the air) channels. With that said, the best reception for this tv depends on the type of antenna being used and the height where it’s mounted. For my 46 channel scan I used an attic mounted directional antenna that’s about 17 feet above ground level that is normally connected to my den tv.I powered it with a 12 volt 35 ah battery that is part of a solar backup supply. I would hope to get around 20 hours of run time on a single charge. The included internal battery in this unit would only provide less than an hour of runtime.Overall I’m pleased with this tv and continue to recommend it to others for use in emergency situations.

This Tv will only last 1 yr
I bought this TV last yr, little over, 1 yr to the day. Since then I’ve had no issues, until now! It’s not the best tv, I did not check it out like I should have when I bought it. The problem The adapter stop charging & is causing a very loud noise while watching the tv, ’Ive had it plugged in the whole time I’ve been using it and have not needed to recharge it I expected this tv to last longer then 1 yr.Contacted Supersonic Electronics Support, I was told it would cost $18.00 for a new adapter needed plus $12.00 shipping total $30.00, & I don’t know how much more for the battery change or charge. I don’t care! I will not pay them for anything else on this defective tv! I was also told that the model I have may have other problem with the circuit which is why I’m hearing the loud noise. This Tv was bought”NEW”Just to inform others to invest in another brand product tv if you want it to last more than 1 yr. Also, Supersonic customer service is zil & none. They simply want you to pay to service the TV when all it needs is a battery recharge. They won’t tell you what you need to know to recharge the battery thing yourself, especially if you know nothing about TV repair, which most people don’t!This company, in my opinion are selling these so called recharge able TV’s with “so called” rechargable batteries, however, the batteries are defective. They are then charging for service s on TV’s with the defective batteries! That’s what happened to me. Buyer Beware!

Works great, but a few minor issues.
So far we have loved this little TV. There are just a few small issues I want to bring up that cost it a star:1: The signal can be real finicky. We live right next to a major metro area, and as such, have plenty of strong signals to choose from. However the antenna still seems to need to be fully extended to properly get the signals, and they can still be finicky. I dont know how this would work in an area with less signal strength.2: The visual range on the TV is limited. You really have to be looking at it strait on for a crisp picture, because get to the side, or above, or below… and the picture gets VERY washed out. I guess its to be expected from a cheap small portable TV.. but still annoying.3: The instructions are pretty poor. I figured things out more from just knowing how things work, then the instructions being helpful. It does not specify certain things or how to do them, that are basically necessary to set the TV up. Our instruction booklet was also missing some pages, and had a LOT of info in what looked like Chinese and very little in English. I guess typical to many cheaper products made in china or other foreign countries.Still… it has been working great so far and makes watching the game or dinner time news wherever (which is what we wanted) a snap.

Nice TV but lacking in directions; read the reviews to learn about it!
Overall, I’m happy with this TV BUT I encourage anyone thinking of buying it to carefully read through all the reviews and the question/answer section. I learned a lot of info that way which I otherwise would not have known because the “directions” that come with this TV are woefully lacking. I bought it because I wanted something small for my kitchen counter that would not take up much room. I keep it plugged into the wall most of the time but I did test the battery life and got 2 hours of play time from it. BUT, again, after reading the reviews I made sure not to charge it longer than 4 hours. Buried in the reviews is a response from the manufacturer stating this. There is absolutely nothing in the directions that mentions anything about the battery, let alone how long to charge it. I have not tested the ability of the TV to pick up channels with just the provided antenna. I immediately connected mine to my wall cable (using the provided adapter) and it picked up all my basic cable stations with no difficulty. It has a very nice picture. The sound is adequate but does not get very loud. I’m considering attaching a small speaker to it, which my tech-savvy son assures me is possible. In general, this is a nice little TV, although I would choose to watch movies, etc. on my larger screen TV. READ THE REVIEWS AND QUESTIONS before you buy it and attempt to set it up.

Good tv, not sure about reliability
ended up with a replacement tv. first tv failed after about six weeks. booted to a blank screen and remote did nothing. manufacturers warranty is just 30 days, so sorry, tough luck. i posted a service request on the manufacturers web site and received absolutely no response. contacted amazon and appealed using my prime account status. tv was immediately replaced. second tv working fine so far. i would be cautious purchasing this tv without a warranty longer than 30 days. a warranty of at least one year for electronic items seems common to me and reasonable.

Not as Advertised.
Advertised as having an LED display. It doesn’t. It has an LCD display. Unless you are looking straight at it, image is washed out. We use is in our kitchen so image isn’t that important. When unpacking, the screen protective film is very hard to get started to peak off. Otherwise it’s OK.

Small TV
The viewing area is too small, you must be directly in front of the set to get an unrestricted view of the picture.

NICE little TV, and it’s perfect for my use in my workshop.
I ordered this to replace the little RCA that I had that gave out after only 3 years. I use it at my workbench in the basement, with a coax input from my preamp that feeds the 3 other TV’s in house from an outside antenna. I get a good signal, and this little TV seems to have a decent and sensitive tuner (unlike the RCA). I get all the stations and sub channels that my big TV’s get (29 digital and 2 analogue) so no problems with it picking up. I was worried when I first hooked it up, with the little push-in adapter for the antenna lead – – it was barely picking up 4 channels. I took it out and just hooked my coax onto a gold push-on adapter that allowed it to go into the recessed connection and that did the trick. No problems at all now, so be aware that the little included adapter is pretty much useless – – apparently loses a lot of signal there. The picture is good and sharp and I had no trouble flipping through the menu and tweaking it a little. Attaching the base is not a problem if you have a magnetic screwdriver. Nice little set, all in all, and I hope it lasts longer that the RCA did. It was charged when I took it out of the box and stayed on about 45 minutes, so happy with that, too. I have amplified speakers hooked to the audio jack, so the sound is great. Good purchase, and I’m very happy with this unit. Since I am experienced in TV and antenna installation from way back, this set was no problem for me to set up and use, but were I a novice I suppose the included instructions would be useless, they are pretty bare bones. Knowing that the included antenna would be only used for strong local channels is also a given, so as long as you know to hook it to a good outdoor or amplified indoor antenna you won’t be disappointed. All of these little battery TV’s are pretty much the same in that respect, so keep that in mind. This one is really nice and worth the money, so I’m very happy with it and for my use it’s perfect. Someday when I get time I’ll explore the USB and cable input capabilities, but for right now I’m enjoying it keeping me company at my workbench.

Great picture. Sound fair, Decent price
The picture and colors are vivid and clear. 1080 in a 14″ it will be. I set picture mode to Soft or Standard and audio mode to Movie as the best options imo. Viewing distance 36″ straight on. Side to side view is good. Vertical not so good. Works perfect next to the computer monitor and why I purchased. Small TVs are expensive but this one has a good price in the small TV range. Did not get it for the battery feature. Overall satisfied with picture and sound in those modes.Edit: 7 months later July it’s hot. The original 12 Volt 1.5 Amp output power adapter overheats and quits indicated by the red light on the TV. Ordered a 12 Volt 3.0 Amp output power adapter that does not heat up after hours of TV viewing unlike the original adapter did. Otherwise still satisfied with the TV. Here is a link to the adapter used to replace the original.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BYVK222Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsEdit: Almost 11 months the remote quit luckily at volume level 10. Can’t find a replacement remote for this SC-2814 model. If you have Dish with an old remote go to settings>remote control. Select TV under Devices. Select TV Pairing Wizard. Use the menu on the left to find then select Supersonic. From there it will prompt through a list of 12 codes. Once to code 12 volume up becomes power on/off. Volume down becomes mute. No it won’t do volume up/down or menu for the TV. Hope this helps.

One of my worst electronics purchases
I wanted a small TV to put on the patio table so I could watch the news while I got things ready for a BBQ. This was the “Best seller” so I thought I would try it out. It probably took an hour to unpack it and assemble it. The two screws in the base unit that are used to connect the swivel/tilt head were a real problem. You want a well magnetized Phillips screwdriver or a pair of long-reach needle nose pliers to succeed. You will understand the problem when you unpack and try to assemble your purchase.Plugging in the TV with its wall-wart 12 volt supply and switching it on is the easy part. I attached the telescoping metal antenna to the connector on the top and off we went. Someone had previously purchased and set up my TV. It tried to connect to strange channels with unusual station letters. Obviously, they had returned it and I was the latest owner. The remote control did not work until I installed a new battery, then I pressed the menu button and was able to go through the setup procedure. One fundamental problem that I found was that it was impossible to change the tint in any of the picture settings. I was stuck with having a magenta hue for everything on the screen. A quick comment about the screen quality; the picture was best when seen from below looking up at the screen. If you stood the TV on its stand on a table and looked down at it, the picture colors were terrible. The final straw that broke the camel’s back was the very poor ability of this TV to pick up a decent signal from either of the two supplied plug-in antennas. I live about 4 miles direct line of site from a mountain that hosts transmitters for channels 8, 10 and 15. Channel 8 did not come in at all (it was not even detected in the scanning setup); channel 10 would provide a broken picture; channel 15 did an acceptable job of providing a stable picture as long as nobody moved around while it was playing. It very much reminded me of the days of analog TV’s with rabbits ears.I really wanted to like this little TV. The form-factor was just what I had been looking for but the picture tint and lack of ability to bring in a decent picture on my three most watched channels made it not worth keeping. I returned it to Amazon the next day.

It’s A Good Portable TV, But…
I agree with others that say you cannot pick up many stations without some kind of powered or directional external antenna, preferably not the ones that came with the unit. The telescoping antenna is absolutely worthless for picking up any stations while scanning. I’m only a 15 minute drive from one local station here & it cannot receive that channel. It also cannot receive the stronger network stations (NBC, CBS, FOX & others..they broadcast 30 to 50 thousand watts of power here) that are about 20 minutes away. And that’s also trying to receive them while upstairs here, about 15 feet off the ground. But… when I attach my powered flat wall antenna (it looks like a rectangular plastic dinner table place mat), it can now receive those elusive stations that the telescoping antenna & magnetic based antenna just couldn’t. I now receive 19 channels with the wall antenna. Zero with the telescoping & magnetic antenna. And yes, I tried walking around the room with the telescoping antenna attached, but it just wouldn’t see the stations that the wall antenna found & set in memory. Oh, yes…the stations stay in memory after you power it off, too. That’s a big plus there! On other good news with this device… it has a pretty good picture for a small unit. Nice & bright without the colors being washed out. The sound is quite loud & understandable (surprisingly) when you crank up the volume, even though the speakers are on the backside, not front-facing like a normal TV has. The remote, on the other hand, is something else. It has the plastic bubble type buttons that you have to press HARD for it to work. I mean, pretty hard! And you have to have small fingers or else you end up pressing two buttons at once. Using your fingernail at an angle doesn’t work because you can’t press down hard enough for it to respond.I can’t say about the USB feature because I don’t have any movies or pictures to show on it. What I CAN say, is that it supplies 5 volts to supply juice for the powered antenna (it’s a USB powered wall antenna) so it’s got that going for it.Battery life is okay. It lasted me about an hour before showing that the battery is low. Maybe I didn’t charge it long enough, but an hour is okay by me. Just plug it in & watch forever. It does work while charging, so it’s got that going for it too! This’ll be a nice addition while I’m out camping. Since I have a solar generator I take along for primitive camping (no hookups), I can watch TV for a few hours after dark, instead of using up my data on the cellphone to pass the time before crawling into the sleeping bag for the night. I’m sure the powered wall antenna will pull those stations in out there in the middle of nowhere. If it’s that good inside, I’ll bet it’ll be even better outside!

Nice TV & Great value!
I ditched cable many years ago and even though I use streaming services, I still like to watch many shows on the old school “rabbit ears”. This little TV has a clear picture and the remote is lightweight and easy to use, with several customization options (picture/sound settings, channel memory, and more!)I tested the battery and was able to watch a full NFL game from start to finish before it died. I plan on using it in the yard so I can get things done and not miss the game.Note: Picture quality also depends on your reception – how far you are from the broadcast station, any obstacles like trees, buildings and such, and what quality video your local broadcast station is sending out. Some broadcast stations send out HD quality and some only send out a more moderate signal which is more like traditional broadcast quality from old school TV based on their viewership, region, and content. This lil’ TV is worth it though.

Supersonic 9# digital portable TV
I purchased this TV for when we have power outages. I wanted this TV for use in hurricane season. I had some trouble with receiving TV stations. We live about 15 miles out of town and our home has a metal roof. I was unable to receive any stations when I tried to program them in my home. I went outside and was able to get 2 of the 3 local stations offered in our area. I was hoping to get ABC and FOX but was unable to program them, however, I at least get CBS and NBC and this will enable me to stay in touch locally with any news in our area to stay informed. The TV does have a very clear picture. I also hooked up a rabbit ear antenna to it which helped also with the picture and reception. I can now receive these 2 stations in my home with the extra antenna help but still had to initially program the stations outside in the open before watching the TV inside my home.

Great Little TV
NOTE: The model I purchased with the “curved” base is the Supersonic 9″ model SC499. I noticed some customers seem to be complaining that the TV they get is not as pictured. There is a Supersonic 9″ model SC499C with a “circular” base also being sold by Amazon. From what I’ve read, the model SC499 is the better TV. Amazon has more than one add but is advertising both TVs as SC499C. You need to clear this up. Supersonic’s website only shows SC499 with “curved”base. I had to search around Amazon until I found the add for the model I wanted.Had it for about 6 weeks and so far, so good. TV works fine and picture is great. Perfect size for our bathroom; takes up very little space on the counter. Instructions that came with it are sketchy and not very helpful. If someone is not at least a little tech savvy, getting set up can be a bit problematic. Antenna that comes with the TV will only pick up a couple stations, and was difficult to attach to the TV as it had to be inserted through a very small opening making it nearly impossible to screw on to the television. We purchased a FlatWave Amplified Razor-Thin HDTV Indoor Antenna with 50-mile range for $59.00 from Walmart, and a quick-connect GQ BV-65 push on “F” adapter with a male/female connection for less than $2.00 from Fry’s Electronics. You just screw on the female end of the adapter to the antenna cable, and then just push the male end onto the TV. We now get 22 stations. Waiting a little longer to make sure all continues to go well before buying another TV for second bathroom. But to date, very satisfied overall.

Nice little TV
Nice little TV. I am really happy with it. I have read a lot of reviews that complain about poor reception. But no matter what type of ATSC receiver, it seems like People complain about not being able to tune enough stations. I think it might be inherent with the new ATSC digital format. I have a DVD player with built in TV tuner that tunes enough stations to satisfy me. It is connected to a home theater processor that has lots of inputs and out puts. I have connected one of its outputs to an RF modulator that converts composite inputs to an analog (NTSC) channel 3 output. The output of this converter goes to an amplified RF splitter that sends the channel 3 RF signal throughout my house. This small TV will tune an analog (NTSC) CH 3 signal with no problem. All I need to do is connect to this small TV coaxial input and it displays everything that I have connected to my home theater processor to any place I can get a coax cable to go. My wife enjoys watching movies from the DVD player while she does the laundry. One other problem I have heard people complain about with this TV is the battery will not hold a charge. On the front of the TV there is a button to turn the TV on and off. Same thing with the remote. There is also a small switch on the side of the TV just above the various types of inputs that turns the TV on and off. While reading the pathetic instructions that came with this TV I noticed that the on off button on the remote says standby. Not on/ off. Standby means that the TV is not turned all the way off and even though there is no picture or sound it’s still using battery power. I suspect that the same is true with the front panel on/off button. I suspect that the only way to turn this TV all the way off is with the small switch on the side. When I turn this TV off I turn the small switch on the side off. My TV holds a battery charge just fine. The pathetic instructions that came with this TV do not confirm this.

Works fine with the Terk HDTV antenna
***UPDATE #3***I had this TV 4 years now and it has gone with me to Arizona, Atlanta, Connecticut, New York and Minnesota and the picture still looks as great as when I first purchased it !! Well after I got the replacement… Don’t listen to the negatives, it’s a great little TV. If you get a lemon just return it for a better model like I did. Whatever you do, don’t loose the remote control !**UPDATE #2**I winded up returning my TV for a replacement before the 30 day warranty ran out. I got a little tired of the picture blanking out because of the faulty AC adapter. I received a brand new model which did not have those problems. The TV works fine now, but still I would not compare the picture quality to my bigger TV. Th pictures come in clear, but on some channels the faces on people look plasticky and very unatural. The screen color also changes depending on the angle of view. All in all after the exchange the TV is much more stable and I have not experienced any problems.**UPDATE**I received the Terk HDTV amplified Antenna today and all I can say is what a difference a couple of days make. First thing I did was to plug the antenna to the TV. At first I wasn’t receiving any signals, so I made some adjustments. I moved the antenna closer to the window, then I did an “OK Scan” and pulled in about 27 channels ! My big TV with the Motorolla Booster and roof antenna could only pull in 23 channels.I waited about 2-3 seconds and all the channels started coming in as sharp as cable. The loose AC cable is stil a problem, but not worth sending the unit back to the company. That would be an extra $14.95 in shipping charges. I guess I might have to make due with a little gaffer tape for now. All in all the TV works great. The battery last about 2-3 hours and works just as good as the AC power cord. The Contrast is a little sharp but you can adjust that through the menu. One thing I had to buy a 12 foot extension Coaxil Cable so that the antenna could be placed by the window while leaving the TV on my night table. Another thing is that the Terk antenna is HUGE, it sort of defeats the purpose of having a portable TV, but all in all I’m happy. I’ll have to give the whole set up a 4* instead of a 2* only because I can now pull in more channels.Last year I dediced to dump my cable TV service. I was paying close to $1200 per year just to watch TV, mostly on the weekends. Every time that Cable bill came, so did another grey hair on my head. Luckilly my building offered a roof antenna so I plugged my TV to that, but could only pick up the local channels and a few others. Some local channels like NBC and CBS were very weather dependent. I recently decided to get a Motorolla signal booster from Amazon after reading the reviews. This improved things quite a bit, not only did the booster pull in more channels the local channels came in as clear as they did on cable. Unfortunately the booster needed AC power so I decided to get this Supersonic TV for emergencies, or for those times I didn’t feel like getting out of bed. When the TV finally arrived, “CHEAP” was written all over it. This thing is made of plastic on top of plastic. I figured that since TV’s have been in existence for more than 70 years it would be pretty much plug-and-play, but NO I still had to read the manual to set it up. When I pulled in the Menu the screen would blank out for no reason. I called Customer Service and they told me the person who is in charge of the unit was out to lunch and would be back in about an hour. I called an hour later and after waiting about 15 minutes on the phone I finally got to speak to a rep.I explained to him my problem and he told me to send it back right away and get a replacement unit. After I got off the phone with this guy I found out that it was the AC cord that attaches to the TV that was loose and was causing the screen to blank out. Using some electrical tape I taped the cord to the unit which fixed the problem.I then attached the antenna that came with the unit but got no signal. So I attached a set of rabbit ears that were lying around the house, but still no signal. I finally attached the coax cable to the roof antenna and that seemed to work ! I pulled in about 14 channels, 8 less than my regular TV. The picture was clear, but had that plasticky digital look and the sound was very weak, sounded almost like a toy, even though on the Box it says ‘Stereo Sound’ !I might try another antenna maybe the Terk amplified antenna might work on this, but I only have 30 days to return the TV. In the meantime I will be looking for a name-brand portable TV, the Supersonic name had me fooled.

Love this little tv
I pick up about 40 channels on this little powerful tv. I do need a new remote. Does anyone know where or how I can purchase one for it! I really would appreciate any help to find one. I didnt open this up till about 5 years after I bought it because of a brain aneurysm I had just before it came then forgot that I bought it till I found it hiding behind things and the battery inside the remote leaked acid. Probably due to the heat with no ac at home here when I was in the hospital and at my daughters to recuperate many months. It gets hot here in FL so if anyone can help please let me know!!! Thank you!!

The screen quality isn’t amazing. it’s viewing angle is kinda small and it …
A solid, functional portable LCD TV. Able to receive digital channels via the included antenna with little issue. Also confirmed that the included AV-IN cable works well. It has both an On/Off slider switch and an On/Off button. From what I can tell, the switch actually provides power, while the button is more of a sleep mode. My only two complaints are as follows:1. The screen quality isn’t amazing. it’s viewing angle is kinda small and it has some color bleed/streaking, especially with red colors. I tried playing around with the settings, but couldn’t get it perfect. Good brightness though.2. I had to disassemble the front of the bezel because the company left a protective plastic film (complete with tab for pulling it off) on the LCD and it had bubbles. I couldn’t initially remove it as it was trapped under the bezel. I’m assuming this was an oversight during the manufacturing process.

Can’t Turn On and Off or adjust volume with remote
I love this little TV – but with Xfinity1, I cannot get their remote to adjust volume or turn on and off. I have to do it manually. I do wish the HDMI and electric was on the back of the TV so the cords were sticking out sideways and visible. Because it is in my office on the desk, I will be able to manually turn it on and off or turn the volume down manually if I get a phone call. The picture is surprisingly good for the price!!

Great mini-TV
After having to return two faulty RCA equivalents, I tried this lower cost TV and have been amazed at the superior quality video and various other features related to its physical characteristics. The removable, adjustable stand, makes for convenient, easy, setup. I am not able to get broadcast TV so I cannot comment on that aspect of the unit. The unit has two A/V inputs and is used as a desktop monitor, with one connection to cable TV and the other to a TiVo box. It is small enough to sit nicely below a PC screen. While the audio is OK, feeding it to a small Pyle amp or plugging in headphones, really enhances it. The remote is well laid-out, comfortable to hold and best of all, uses two AAA batteries, unlike the RCA’s button cell. Since this unit is primarily tuned to CNBC for financial info, clarity is essential. While characters on the RCA were readable, but fuzzy, the Supersonic is about as clear and distinguishable as it gets.

Great tv!
ProsReal good picture and sound is pretty decent. Sound is a bit tinny but there are adjustments available to help a little. Plenty of inputs for using this tv for different things and the stand is sturdy.ConsReception could be better. Bought this for days I’m stuck at work when football games are on or bad weather. A buddy had a cheaper unknown brand portable tv and although they use the same style antenna his got better reception. I was able to correct that though. Bought a “August DTA240” antenna off here and that cured all issues. Rock solid reception now without having to adjust the long antenna everytime I change the channel.Sound could be better but still very adequate for what it is. Volume level is good too. Speakers are rear facing though so that doesn’t help.OverallI would have no problem recommending this anyone. Just think about paying a couple extra bucks for a better antenna and that will make it a lot more enjoyable.

We Like It!
We’re very happy with this little kitchen TV. It’s very lightweight and fits on a small counter. Be aware, though, that it comes with a dearth of instructions. We used the gray matter between our ears to get it up and running. Here is what we learned: if the holes on the bottom of the base are not properly aligned with the other part of the base (and they probably won’t be) take apart the other adjustable base piece completely by loosening the knob. The small part with the holes in it can then be set in the proper alignment. We use Direct TV. To get reception we plugged the cable into the antenna port (using the enclosed cable to antenna plug adapter). In the installation wizard (you will need to go there on the menu) we set the reception mode to “air” not “cable.” Then select autoscan. Voila! All of our Direct TV channels were available off of our Direct TV control box. My wife, who is pretty picky, likes this TV a lot! so it receives the coveted BF stamp of approval.

great TV for 2 month — then dead
update STILL TRYING TO GET A RESPONSE FROM SUPPORT — so downgraded the rating until we receive a response. — initially it seemed to be really nice little unit — good picture, good sound, shorter battery life than hoped but other qualities made up for that. After 2 months, it started making a whining sound when turned on, and shut itself off after a couple of minutes. I’m in touch with the manufacturer and hoping they will resolve the issue. Will repost here when resolved.

Works but flimsy & stand doesn’t work at all.
I bought this to use as a monitor for a camera / to have a larger viewfinder than the camera’s built in screen. For that, it works just fine (I haven’t even turned on the TV part / can’t comment on that). However, one of the reasons I ordered this over some other ones was the little stand looked like it’d work well for me. Nope. The stand is useless. The knob to turn to tighten it to whatever angle you want… doesn’t work at all. You turn & turn and nothing happens. Its clearly a cheap plastic setup so I assume, it’s just junk within the stand. So appears to be nothing to fix / nothing I can do. It just won’t tighten. So for me, the “monitor” still works as I can carry it with me to check our (church) various cameras… but for most, without that stand… dunno. Personally, I’d not recommend this if the idea is to use it as a tv… as without a stand you’d either have to build or buy something… as it won’t sit up on its own.

Speakers are on the back of tv which doesn’t make sense
Decent picture until after a month and contrast wouldn’t work. Not bad if you are 3 feet from it but the speakers are on the back and so it is a lot louder . Returned after about a month.

Just what I needed
I am very happy with my purchase. I needed a small TV to replace the one on the desk in my office and this filled that need nicely. I have it connected to my home cable service, so I can’t comment on the tuner’s ability to pull in stations via the antenna. The TV is also connected to an electrical outlet, so I can’t comment on the battery/charge life. The base was a little cumbersome to install, but with a small (#1) phillips screwdriver and a steady hand the base attached nicely. So, if you’re looking for a TV to use in this context I would easily recommend the SuperSonic SC499D. One quick note: The TV pictured is, from what I can tell, of the older version of the TV, the SC499 (without the “D”). The one that I received is much nicer than the one pictured. Amazon could do their customers a great service and update the photo of this product.

This folks is a good buy.
Let me say first off, this tv is just what I wanted. Battery operated ( mine on full charge with charger removed) will play for 1hour.You will see a low battery indicator come on lower right side of screen. If I choose to operate with whip antenna I will use an adapter on end of whip which will allow quick plug-in of antenna. I have used the flex cable provided to hook up to outside vhf/uhf antenna. I will say the operations manual was a little hard to understand, but did get thru the channel scanning. The remote is a little small for my hand and fingers, but again it will do. Also provided is the cigarette lighter power adapter which will work in the car, while the wife shops for hours. Also the tv comes with 2 av inputs and an av cable. I plan to show this to a friend who has been looking a long time for a battery tv.

Works wonderful as an external monitor.
I don’t need anything fancy. Regular ‘monitors’ were way to pricey and large for what I needed. This size is perfect! Tv did come in on initial setup. Looked good to me. It took me a bit to find the little on and off switch by the power supply. I couldn’t figure out why the red light kept going off. Day one and love it. Taking on the road in a truck camper with my laptop. Has it’s own battery and a 12v charger which is perfect.

Very Good Unit with Good Features
I’ve only used this TV for around 10 hours, and only for local over the air channels. I also purchased the August DTA240 High Gain Digital TV Aerial with the order, which was a good move. There was 12 additional channels that came in with the addition of the high gain antenna. I only ran it once on battery power only, and it ran for a little under 2 hours. I did considerable research before purchasing the TV and it is exactly as advertised, therefore has the features wanted with it. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is because any of these TVs should come with high gain external antennas. That may be picky, but I don’t believe most people buy these things to hook up to a cable or dish system.

👍👍👍 SC-2814 14″ TV Don’t pass this up, there’s a reason so many have been sold…Read on!
The basic TV reception has fair to excellent reception depending upon my location, but nothing an aftermarket amplified antenna couldn’t take care of as stated in the users guide. I connected a 4k Roku Premier unit & the picture is nothing less than incredible that rivals any TV in my house! Instructions are brief, to the point & accurate… Other TV manufacturers should take a que from this. I wanted to use my Roku Streaming Stick+ but this TV will not support all of its features… not a problem… at all! Three hour run time on lithium battery is accurate as well as the six hour charge. I can connect this to my Ryobi 150-Watt Powered Inverter with a 4 A/H battery & will be good for days on a power outage! I will be looking at other SuperSonic products.

I brought this TV for my husband for his birthday, Sad to say the first one that came had a broken antenna.. I sent it back and Amazon sent me another one sad to say the stand was crooked my husband tried to put it on straight but could’nt it was because the holes to mount the stand was in the wrong place so the stand is sideways. But that ok, he didn’t want me to send it back he said he can deal with a crooked stand. The TV he loves nice picture and sound so he’s happy with his birthday gift. Thank you Amazon for sending me a replacement with no problems. I say when they ship items out of the warehouse they need to check to see if all the parts are there and nothing is broken.

This is a great portable Television but make sure you get the separate antenna to make the channels come in clearly!
I just purchased this portable TV just in case if the power went out and I just received it and it works very. I had an “August DTA206 Digital TV Extendable Antenna – Portable Indoor/Outdoor Aerial for USB TV Tuner / Digital Television / DAB Radio – With Magnetic Base and Extendable Rod” spare laying around that I bought around Christmas a few months back. I used that antenna and it made all of the channels come in very clear. Please make sure that when you purchase this television make sure that you purchase that Antenna that I just listed because that made the channels come in crystal clear it’s and you can screw that on instead of the Antenna that came with the TV. It’s on sale right now for $6.95 here on Amazon. Here goes the link:http: //www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051YCQ8E/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i05?ie=UTF8&psc=1I think the tv only charges when it’s in the “on”position. This tv is just the right size for a power outage or if you want to take with you on the go or on a trip. I like the fact that it has a remote control and a car charger as well. This little TV is such a blessing!

the screen looks like it might be easy to break
CCTV Installer here, travel throughout the southeast-ish area. needed a larger self powered screen for aiming and focusing cameras through their test ports. my only complaints are… the monitor is VERY DARK, no real gain adjustment either, turning up the brightness only washes the video out and there is no decent battery meter. the monitor will just fail to turn on when the battery dies. the screen looks like it might be easy to break, so be gentle!with that being said this thing is perfect for what i do. plenty of clarity for focusing SD cameras and the only time the screen being dark is a huge issue is when you are working outside. Doing the under shirt trick in this case works alright. I will buy another for replacement when this one dies

Great tuner!
I have to say that this small TV has an EXCELLENT tuner! I bought it to replace a 9″ Haier TV that recently died. The Haier TV had a very weak tuner, and despite multiple scans in multiple locations I was only able to pull in a few channels. This Supersonic TV, on the other hand, pulled in ALL of the channels my 42″ LG TV did! ALL OF THEM, nearly 40!!! And I only had to scan once! This little guy might not be perfect, but I sure can’t find fault with the tuner! Some of you may have different results depending on where you live, but you can be confident that this TV will pull in ALL of the channels you can possibly get in your area, no doubt about it.

Disappointed
Used this tv a handful of times, went to turn it on and a black screen! Tried all troubleshooting and nothing worked, I feel there should be some sort of compensation! I’ve read other reviews where this product has failed, if the seller won’t do anything about a bad product, I think Amazon owes it to their members to try and get a refund or replacement.

Nice little TV
For the price it is very good. Getting the stand put together was a little challenging and there were no directions on how to do it. It isn’t hard to figure out what you have to do. The hard part is getting the 2 screws in. I used a small needle nose plyers to get them in the holes. A magnetized screw driver would work better but I don’t have one. I connected it to my antenna in the attic and I pulled in 67 channels ( I live close to Chicago). The set up Wizard did all the work getting channels. The sound is tinny but it is only a 9 inch flat screen HDTV. Where could they put bigger better speakers?. I connected some old PC speakers to the headphone jack and it sounds great. The remote is small like the TV and takes time getting used to. I am thinking of connecting it to my DISH now. I have it sitting next to my PC monitor.Perfect for what I needed. I am very happy with the it.

I’m rural Wa state. Only needed for power outs trees taking out the power lines. My last one died, bought this. Old one only got 3 channels, all religious, but something to pass the time. On this? The stand sucks, but works (run a small screw driver over a magnet to energize). But screws holes are off center. No biggie, but works. On the battery? Its a cheap one, so don’t depend on it. On batt, out the window only got one choppy channel. Hooked a 12 Volt small batt? Got 12 channels! Ordered a window antenna, $20 some bucks, and bet get more. And when “Run Channel A”, thats the menu Just use up down, left right buttons what wanted and PRESS OK. And on the F cable hook up, need small fingers? Hey they sell push on F connectors. Easy peasy, done. Give it 5 stars, but 2 knocked off the the instructions, and the stand. Rest no prob. Pic of what I do when power is out . Get a pig tail connector a plug in power port (smoke lighter old school) and hook a small 12 volt battery..Long time last.

TV is a good resource tool in the event of no electricity
This tv is ideal for mobile use and provides easy access to many channels. It’s manageability is convenient, lightweight, and can be moved from room to room also, placed in vehicle, SUVs and RV’s simply (using a HDMI portable power inverter adaptor), as well its inter-connectivity with other usb entertainment devices so all passengers can enjoy, also can be used with your already existent mobile antenna (will possible work even better with). I bought this tv for the purpose of rolling blackouts, and in the case of emergency/disaster loss of electricity this tv can be a resource tool for information and/or instructions if such event occurs.LB Johnson

Works excellently!
Reason for Buying: Severe Weather CoveragePicture and Sound Quality: ExcellentEase of Setup: Very EasyIncluded Accessories: AverageI originally bought this TV to use for severe weather coverage when the satellite goes out due to rain. Since I live in Tornado Alley in Oklahoma, this is a necessity. The TV works right out of the box. Included Accessories include a wall charger, car charger, remote, and an antenna. The antenna is kind of crappy, I only got two stations with it. After reading reviews here before I purchased, I knew I would need another. I had already ordered one that worked excellent with this TV. I have several stations now. You can get the antenna here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051YCQ8E/ref=ya_st_dp_summary) This TV’s setup us very easy, just turn it on, channel scan, and you are ready to go. The picture quality and Sound quality right of the box, is perfect for my needs. Others may want to adjust to have better picture, but I’m just fine with it. The battery on this thing hasn’t gone out yet after two hours of coverage, so battery life is better than advertised for my set.I hope this helps some of you make your purchase decision!

Washed out screen but decent emergency backup TV
We bought this to have a backup TV to be able to watch the news during a power outage and it works ok for that. The screen’s default setting is too bright and washes out all the colors. Switching to a softer mode tones that down a bit to make it more watchable, but every time you turn the TV off it defaults back to being washed out. This is fine for what we need this TV for but for someone expecting to use this regularly in an RV or boat it would be annoying.Otherwise the reception, sound quality, and battery life all appear to work fine.

This company is a joke, the product is weak at best.
I requested a refund returned the product but never received my return refund for the return. The product never worked properly. I would not buy from this company again if you expect a working product and fair refund. I am still waiting. Don’t be surprised if you get the same results if you buy the product. I did give two stars instead of one because they did ship the product faster than expected.

perfect for power outages
I bought this for post-hurricane cable/internet/electricity outages, which can last for weeks. When I first tried it I didn’t get any reception at all and was about to send it back. Then I read other reviewers who said that the supplied antenna is useless and to get a better antenna. I did that, and it now works pretty well, I’m getting about 15 channels. Picture quality is a bit fuzzy, but that could be interference or obstacles between my house and the broadcasting towers (as with all digital converter antennas, you need a clear “line of sight” to get reception). I’m sure when the time comes I will be grateful to have any contact with the outside world, however fuzzy — assuming the towers haven’t blown down.

Much more than I expected, and different model than pictured!
I received a slightly different model than pictured for some reason. Pictured is SC499D – I got SC499. The controls are along the sides, the stand is crescent-shaped, and the speakers are in the back. I prefer the look of the one I got. Anyway, I set it up in no time – the scan was easy, and pulled in 42 channels. Beautiful picture and sound. Lots of options, benefits and menus on the remote, just like cable menus. Very impressive. Even a Mute button. Couldn’t control volume from the remote on my 7″ TV before (can on this).Only problem I had was the mounting holes on the stand. The 2 screw holes were in the wrong place by 90-degrees. So all I had to do was drill two more small holes in the plastic stand, and then proceed to mount the connecting piece to it with the screws, and attach it to the back of the television. No problem. (So easy, even this 65-year-old woman could do it!) I hope the TV stands up to time and Florida lighting strikes, because it’s a nice little TV. I use it in my bathroom when getting ready for work.Received it from the seller with no problems, and well packaged.

Awesome product for the price, lots of features
I read thru the reviews but here is something that i did not find a lot of info on that is a HUGE pro for me. The media player that is built in plays multiple video formats including AVI, MKV and MP4. It also plays music, pictures and texts. The stand assembled no problem. The only thing with the stand is it is on an angle but still works fine or you can drill new holes for a straight forward alignment. The quality of the picture was great. The antenna didn’t pick up much and one that most people by with it was not that much of an upgrade. The flat antennas that sell for 10 to 20 dollars worked great for over the air including digital and if you connect it to cable, it will scan those as well. I cannot comment on the time it takes to fully charge or how long it runs,, but it does come with both AC adapters and a cigarette plug adapter so if you have a boost pack, you can run a long time that way. Overall this product is great for what you pay.

Check that the4 battery charges before end of warranty
I couldn’t give it a 5 star due to finding problems with the unit after the warrant ran out (About 30 days ago). I found that the battery does not hold a charge. Every time you plug in the charger, the indicator comes on and goes off after about 1-2 minutes. Running the tv shows low-battery and then dies. Appears to be a bad battery. Be sure you check the unit as soon as you get it and that it charges. Otherwise it works very well. If the manufacture hears this it would be n ice to just send me another battery. I can change it myself. Once again, the unit works well except the battery not charging.

Better than expected…in fact…GREAT
Took a chance and got a huge surprise. I love this little TV. I bought it to connect to my night vision cam/recorder for watching UFOs…didnt expect it to pick up any tv signals out here in the middle of nowhere….but I got 6 channels! Also it is easy to see outdoors, excellent. I was surprised how lightweight it is and all the options for mounting. There’s even a tripod screw mount on the bottom of the TV. The add on base can be detached quickly and even has screw holes for mounting on a wall or fix to a table. Most common adjustments have their own button on the remote. The resolution and color is quite good and the 9 inch screen size is just right. There is a small operators manual included but no mention on how long you need to charge it, or if it self regulates the charge. Also included is the schematic and repair manual…an added plus. Love it.

Changing my review to FIVE STARS
I had given this product a bad review previously because i could not get it to turn on after it had worked for the first two weeks I owned it. THEN, before I packed it up to return on the return label that the vendor sent 11/27, I found that by switching OFF the power switch on the side of the set (that I had left on when I unplugged it the set for the first time), and then switching it back ON, I got the set working again. Then the included remote and the button on the front of the set next to the screen to turn it off and on WORKED again. No problems now. This switching the SIDE power button off and then on again is not covered in the operations manual. I think that this is a good product, once you know that little detail, and I recommend it.

So far so good
So far this TV is working very well and is exactly what I expected. I use it to pass the time while plugged in charging my electric vehicle away from home at night. I was kind of expecting the cigarette lighter DC adapter to be a little shorter than I was hoping for, and that was the case. I wound up ordering an inexpensive extension. I get about 60 to 80 minutes out of a charge, so I opt to keep it plugged in. The OTA reception is what I expect for the area. Picture quality and sound is fair. Overall good for the price.

Great Little TV!
I love everything about this little portable TV, The color is great and it fits very nicely on my desk or in the kitchen or anyplace I want to put it. It works on battery as well. It stays plugged in most of the time, but keeps playing when I unplug it. The reason it is 4 stars instead of 5 (through no fault of the manufacture) is that I don’t get the NBC stations. I get ABC and CBS and their related stations, though. It seems that the radio waves coming through do not hit my location very well or the station’s transmitter is not strong enough to reach through. If you have cable (which I don’t) there should be no problem with reception.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the majority of the reviews on this one…
This item arrived late and the quality of the unit is a bit poor, but for what it is intended to be — a small, battery-powered tv — I’m not looking for fine craftmanship either. The main problem for me is that even after letting the battery fully charge, the most it lasts on its own, i.e., not plugged into the electrical socket, is 1 hour. This is not acceptable and not in line with the duration expected. Should at least be a handful of hours. I tested it a few times and always got the same result. Also, the remote that came with the TV didn’t work so I got the impression that perhaps I got a used remote or at the very least, one with a drained battery. If I only wanted to use this as a small TV that would always be plugged in, my review would be more favorable, but since I only intend to use it during power outages during hurricane season, it doesn’t work for me and regrettably I need to send it back. Also, I concur with many other reviewers that the instructions are lacking, but assembling the stand doesn’t take too much to figure out and at the end of the day TV menus are pretty much standard and navigable in order to get things set up the way you want.

Instructions do not advise about recharging time
I purchased this 2 weeks ago and have toyed with it for those two weeks in an attempt to get more than 75 minutes of usage time. My hope was to be able to watch televised football games outside, but obviously it cannot handle that length of time, so I am returning it. I did learn a few things: It has an on/off switch (in addition to a on/off button on the front)…the unit will NOT charge if the actual switch is in the off position. Also, I actually received a response from their tech support regarding by complaint regarding the limited battery life..their response is at the end of this review. (Copied and pasted…the manual is is broken English as well, and makes NO reference to the limitation on battery recharging they recommend)….I am returning my unit….it is not what I expected regarding battery life, but it has a great picture and does well when the channels and antenna are locked onto a station (needs to be stable) I did respond to their email and ask them to revise their instructions to include such requirements.FROM SUPERSONIC TECH SUPPORT: don’t exceed on charging it overnight or leaving it charged for more than 12hours at one time, the Battery will overheat and cause it to damage the cells and it will not hold charge properly.best is to have it serviced for repairs, our techs will have to remove the battery and replace a new one to have it work correctly.you need to charge it no more than 2-3 hours for a full charge.Thank youSupersonic Tech Support TeamEMAIL: support@supersonicinc.com[…]

Great TV, but very limited viewing angles
Incredibly flexible tv, with an amazingly capable antenna, but the viewing angles are very poor. If you’re watching straight-on, you’re fine, but if you’re sharing the screen with others, be aware that they also will need to be at a nearly 90-degree angle, or the image will be poor. Otherwise, worth the money.
