    Great Little Investment

My 16 inch analog TV finally died, so I needed a replacement for that small corner in my kitchen when I watch cooking shows. Was dismayed to find the selection of small TVs increasingly limited as everyone seems to be preferring those monstrosities that cover an entire living room wall these days. I had my concerns about this one as choices were extremely limited, but let me just say I’m delighted and thankful I acted when i did; who knows how long this size will remain available is anyone’s guess. Here’s some initial observations after one hour of ownership.- – Set-up was a breeze. Didn’t even need to refer to the manual. Just plugged it in and voila – picture!- – Picture quality is tack sharp with great contrast and clarity.- – Yes, as per some of the reviews, the sound isn’t great, but it’s more than serviceable. As you can tell from my attached picture I simply connected mine to a pair of high quality portable speakers which I also happen to be using (at least for now) as a “pedestal”. Sound quality issues solved! In conclusion, and contrary to at least one viewer’s reply concerning the speaker control – – YES, the volume of the attached third party speakers can be controlled by the TV’s remote.- -Final analysis: A highly satisfied buyer with ZERO buyer’s remorse!

    Narrow viewing angle

For the money, this is an OK set for occasional viewing when you really don’t want/need a big screen. The viewing angle is quite narrow before picture degradation occurs. The speakers have a very “tinny” sound and improve if something is placed behind the set to reflect all sound forward. Since I stream tv with a Firestick, I prefer to have all my controls synced and so far have not been able to accomplish this with this tv. Trying to improve sound quality with a small soundbar greatly improves sound quality, but adds another layer of complexity in syncing with the tv remote and/or Firestick.

    Product quality seems so-so

Upon opening the box and getting the TV out, tipping it upside down to put the feet on I herd a loose screw rattling inside of the TV. When installing the feet one of the philips head screws had a blob of metal in the head making it difficult/impossible to use until I awl’d out the metal.Picture quality seems decent, picture intensity seems good. On misleading/erroneous fact was no included DC power cable. I specifically looked at the advertisement and what was included and seem to recall a DC plug/cable to be provided. This was not the case. This would my default power scenario.Fo the remote, it seems decent however I really liked another brand’s ‘favs’ button where you could just hit it and it cycles through the favs selected channels vs hit the fav’s list, then select the channel, then close the favs list.

    GREAT UNIT

I am convinced that if someone sold an ounce of gold on amazon for $1.00 and offerednext day shipping for free somebody out there would give it 1 star. This TV is Great! 1. The people who gave it bad reviews because you have to sit straight on, I have to saythat this is for ALL LED TV’s not just this one. Read Consumer Reports, Wikipedia, etc. I purchased this TVfor my office desk. My office is about 20 x 25 feet and i can see a good picture anywhere in the room standing orsitting. 2. Speakers: It’s a 13inch TV! what do these people expect? Sub woofers? I plugged in a pair of $20.00external speakers and sounds great. p.s. the speaker built in did sound pretty good. 3. Built cheap. not really.looks and feels pretty solid to me. 4. Bad reception. I was able to pull in 11 stations and they all keep a good picture.4. Plugged in my Direct TV box via RCA Wires and picture is great. Plugged in my smartphone, laptop via VGA cord, RadioShack amplified antenna, external speakers, HDMI cable and all is good. For $125.00, this TV is above my expectations.I could not find a TV smaller than 19″ at a retail outlet anywhere in my county. I am glad i bought this unit and would recommend it. But only time will tell how long it lasts.con: the instructions to attach the base are unclear: unless they changed the base itself, here is what i did:unscrew the single screw at the bottom of base. Turn clockwise and take apart from shaft. Screw the shaft to the TV via providedscrews (3) attach base to shaft (follow arrows on bottom of base.)

    22″ Just Plain Horrible

Please Note: This only applies to the 22″, model SC-2211. It is unfortunate that Amazon lumps a bunch of different model TV’s together because it makes the reviews very confusing. The deal breaker for me is the viewing angles are so narrow, especially height-wise, that it is unwatchable unless you are looking straight-on. That’s bad enough in a normal situation, but in a small RV it makes it useless. There were many other issues that I may have been able to overlook, but this one is resulting in a return.Other issues:No DC power cord. For a TV marketed as DC compatible, it should include a DC power cord. In my case it was a non-issue because the old tube TV being replaced had the same plug, but for someone who doesn’t have that luxury, it’s unusable out of the box if you bought it to use in a vehicle. The AC power cord is hard-wired, so in a DC application it is in the way. the only place to put it in a wall-mount scenario is right where all the plugs are. Even without the AC cord in the way, the design means you will need to use cheap cables with smaller connectors or get right-angle adapters. Quality cables are too large to fit in the small area where the connections are.Brightness either washes everything out and bleeds around the edges, or is so dark you can only see the well lit scenes. As mentioned above, the viewing angles are horrible. If you are viewing from below the level of the TV, all colors will be inverted. The power/standby LED is insanely bright. I put 5 layers of dark blue painter’s tape over the LED and could still easily see it when on or off (it changes from blue to red, but both are super bright). Lights up the whole room at night when the power is off, and very distracting (and painful if you look right at it) when on.The claimed resolution of 1920 x 1080 seems to be what it will accept, not the native resolution. Either way, it’s unusable as a PC monitor. I tried both HDMI and VGA from my laptop and it’s just horrible, and I’m a PC tech so I know how to get the best out of even bad monitors. Using VGA the signal periodically cuts out for 5 or 10 seconds and then comes back. This only seems to happen using VGA.The wall mount bolt holes are so shallow no standard wall mount will work with it without either getting shorter screws or using a lot of washers. I ended up using nuts as washers, they were that shallow. The only good thing I can say is the tuner seemed pretty good. But there are too many deal breakers with this TV, on top of the fact that the poor design of the connection placement and wall mount provision, along with the lack of DC power cable means that you will likely have to purchase additional items to make this already overpriced TV usable.I’m submitting a return on this. Really disappointed.

Let’s get real: It is a fine little TV

This is a fine little TV. Five stars for the quality of the TV, recognizing it for what it is (and not expecting it to compete with larger and more expensive sets). I got the black model, for a small TV near my work desk in my study. The unit is attractive, clean, and it fits in nicely in my decor. Picture quality is excellent, sound is great. It is true (as some reviewers have said) that picture quality falls off as you move away from center in front of the screen; that is normal and to be expected with any LED TV this size and at this price point. The picture is still clear and easy to view from normal viewing angles in front of the TV. It is also true that the speakers are small and attached to a small TV, so you’re not going to get huge volume, depth of sound field, or base response. Sound fidelity is still great and the volume is plenty if you are sitting at a distance where you can reasonably see the screen. (I sit three to five feet from the screen, within about a five foot square area roughly but not always exactly in front of it.) Sound does tend to get tinny if you turn it all the way up. (I tried, just to test it; the volume gets very loud but sound quality quickly falls off if you get it near top volume. Sitting at four~ish feet away, I find that mine is normally less than 1/4 of full volume.) After just a few days, I’ve not yet seen any bad pixels or had to attempt support, so I can’t comment yet on those aspects or on how long or well it will last. So, in sum: This great little unit is only 13.3 inches and costs less than $100. So let’s get real: This is a great TV in this class and at this price point. This is NOT your living room home entertainment system; it is a small and inexpensive TV for small spaces.

For the Price, you cannot Wrong

This is a VERY HARD Size TV to find these days, especially if you have a scenario of having a “Kitchen TV” and need to mount it underneath a standard 15″ cabinet. This was my exact scenario. After a kitchen remodel about 10 years ago, we had a very nice Sharp 13″ TV. Technology moves forward however and this old set had square screen, analog tuner and only 720.Cutting the “cord” from cable, we need to upgrade this kitchen TV to accommodate the HD antenna we recently bought to get the local channels as as well as the web based sources (via Roku) that we already had.Bottom line.. This is the ONLY (viable) TV I could find in this size. It was a decent price however. As it has the VESA Standard mounting set up, that answered one of my first questions. The existing set was on a VESA Mount One NOTE however is it is not positioned CENTER on the TV so my mount have to be repositioned to accommodate THIS TV…Picture is awesome.SOUND.. I SEE what the others have written about with the “tinny” sound .. Right out of the box. When I fix turned it on and heard it on a channel that had people shooting guns. IT WAS HORRIBLE. HOWEVER, after some AUDIO adjustment of the Bass and Treble on the menu, it was MUCH BETTER then the “out of the box default” setting. It is clearly more acceptable and I don’t need to worry about getting separate speaker as I first thought we may have to.All and all, if you NEED a 13″ TV, this is currently your only (viable) and best option. Again, for the PRICE you cannot beat it.I was able to use my Roku 1 with the HDMI connection vs the composite cables I needed for the older set and the channels we are getting from our new HD antenna (which we bought on Amazon as well) are crystal clear. We COULD NOT BELIEVE how LIGHT this was/is compared to the old set. The old one was about 10b. This one is 2 lb or less !We wish it did not have a highly shiney black frame, but this is personal taste and not much one can do here. IF you look around, you CAN find it in white…

Very nice little TV with some caveats.

This is a very nice little TV . The picture is beautiful with very little degradation when viewed even far to the side or from above. With the speakers on the front the sound is very good. That being said, I do have 4 gripes:1) It will not accept a 1080p signal. I have it connected to a TiVo Mini with an HDMI cable and the highest resolution I can achieve is 1080i. I have it running at 720p 60hz which is fine, close to it’s native resolution and indistinguishable from 1080p with this size screen, so that’s not a problem.2) The lower news/ticker crawl, especially on CNBC, has a noticeable judder, not a smooth crawl. No Picture or Resolution setting will smooth it out. Very annoying.3) I cannot find a code for a TiVo remote. I ran through all of the codes in the remote, tried the suggested Supersonic codes at codesforuniversalremotes.com as well as the RCA codes someone found working for another remote, all without success. Luckily I have a TiVo Slide Pro remote used with another TV. This is a learning remote and was successful in learning the On/Off, Volume and Mute codes from the Supersonic’s remote.4) Supersonic’s warranty is terrible. It’s only for 90 days and in addition to paying for shipping to them (normal), they charge $45 to ship it back, which is outrageous. So the only real issues are the warranty and the judder. I’m trying to learn to live with the judder, but since I am using it primarily for CNBC in my home office it may be enough to return it. Giving it a fair trial, though, because otherwise I like it very much.

Remote quit working after 4.5 months

Firestick remote 3 came with the TV. It quit working after only 4 1/2 months. Tried changing to new batteries. Un- hooked all cables and plugs. Re hooked everything. Absolutely dead. TV is ok…does what is needed. Absolute ZERO on firestick remote. Expensive TV for what you get. Works well enough.

    Space saving tv

This small tv fit my purpose very well. I use it in my sewing room where there is very little extra space and I hooked it up to an over-the-air antenna. Works great! The sound is a little “tinny” but that should be expected from the small size of the tv. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that it was shipped in only the box it comes in rather than putting it in a shipping box. There was no damage to the tv but there were holes and tears in the box by the time it arrived. Just as a precaution, a shipping box is suggested.

    Poor Quality for this Price

I like the size of this television because there aren’t many of this size available right now. A 21-inch television is considered small these days. However, the quality is less than average for the price. The stand set-up is poor quality, and we couldn’t figure out how to hook the TV to the stand. The sound is tinny and the picture is unimpressive.

    OK

TV is OK so far. Picture is just OK and the sound is a bit less than OK. THE BIG THING TO KNOW IF YOU ARE VESA MOUNTING THE TV IS THAT THE MOUNTING LOCATION ON THE TV IS 1/2″ OFF CENTER TO THE RIGHT WHEN LOOKING AT THE BACK. I WRONGLY ASSUMED (MY FAULT!) THAT THE PATTERN WAS CENTERED (AS IT SHOULD BE!), BUT IT IS NOT. So I installed the under-cabinet mount that I bought based upon my incorrect assumption, and then had to re-do it when I was surprised to find that the TV hit the adjacent wall. And I now have an unwanted set of holes that fortunately only a very short person can see.

    Nothing easy with this TV

The first thing I noticed after setting up the TV was its really tinny sound. It sounded like someone talking within a bag. The next thing was that I could not set up my FIOS remote no matter what I did. I figured I could solve the sound problem be adding a sound bar, so I ordered one through Amazon (ABBRU – $14.48). The only connection available was through a USB port, until I found that the USB was INPUT only, so I had to return that soundbar. I then noticed that the only output on the TV was an optical out connection, so I ordered a LARKSOUND soundbar ($37.99). Once I got the soundbar, I connected it to the TV, which was not easy on the TV end because of a shelf preventing a straight hookup. After fighting it for a while and getting it connected, I switched ti soundbar input to optical (a simple button on its remote), only to hear the same tinny sound. So I started fiddling around in the TVs menus and found a setting called SPDiF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface). Just by accident, I changed this setting to PCM and all of a sudden, the sound worked beautifully – no more tinny sound. I do not think it is right that you have to spend extra money just to get decent sound. Stay away from this TV.

Great picture quality. Sound….not the best but I can live with it. Sounds distorted. I have changed some of the settings for the sound to make it a little better. Have it in my kitchen, no cable or extras attached. Antenna to pick up local channels.

Works perfectly with a 12 volt plug.

Works perfectly fine with 12 Volt DC. Lots of folks are badmouthing this awesome TV because they simply don’t understand simple electrical principals. Or, whining about there not being a 12-volt plug provided. I see the 110-plug that was provided as just an extra bonus in case I EVER need 110 in an RV (never!). You can buy a standard 12 volt plug for $5 anywhere. You likely have one laying around the house somewhere…. This vendor does not provide one BECAUSE they know most people will likely use shore power (110 power). It would be a costly waste and the price of the TV would be much higher to cover their overhead providing both plugs in the box. Now, I’ve tested all three kinds of 12-volt power with this TV: The provided 12-volt input sock on the TV works perfectly well with any one of the following: 1) a standard 12 volt DC plug–this would include 110 plugs that output (convert) to 12 volts DC; 2) a standard 12 volt DC vehicle cigarette socket plug; and 3) hardwiring directly to 12 volt DC lines (i.e. in an RV). My particular solution was this: Take a 110 plug with a line that terminates (converts) to a standard 12-volt DC male input plug. These are very common, and you likely have one laying around the house. Just confirm “12-volt DC” output or “12 – 24 volt DC” imprinted output on the 110 plug housing. Now unplug and remove the regular 110 plug that came with the TV. Test the 12-volt DC plug (i.e. plug it into a standard household 110 two-prong plug and the other end into the TV’s 12-volt DC input). Confirm the TV works (power on, etc). Now that you know that particular 12-volt DC male plug fits the TV’s 12-volt input socket correctly, cut the 110 two-prong plug off the other end of the wire. Now strip the wires and either hardwire the two 12-volt DC lines directly to RV 12 volt positive and negative lines, OR use a 12-volt cigarette socket line that terminates to a standard 12-volt DC male input plug. Simple. Took me 20 minutes….

Roku remote setup won’t work with ‘SuperSonic’, must use ‘HiSense’ – go figure!

24″ SuperSonic TV has nice wide screen, good color rendition and reasonable sound (once set to Music mode). My only issue was I couldn’t get my Roku remote with voice to connect to the TV to control power and volume. You would think that since this is a SuperSonic TV, you would select that brand when setting up the Roku remote, but doing so didn’t work. An online search for a solution found people suggesting the use of other TV brands and I tried a few, but those didn’t work for me. One guy even returned the TV to Amazon for that very reason and I was considering that when I found the solution in the Customer Question & Answer section. You must enter ‘Hisense’ as the TV brand to get the Roku remote to connect to the TV which it does on the first code. Thank you S. Bailey.7/25/22 Update: I would not recommend this TV for over the air use as autoscan picks up only 16 channels, whereas the 2009 18.5″ Sanyo this TV replaced picks up 36 channels with the antenna in the same position. Tried moving the antenna around but still only 11 channels. It wouldn’t even pickup ABC, PBS or CW and I live in the New Orleans metro area. I was planning to use this TV during hurricane power outages, but I will keep the Sanyo for this.

    Better than I expected

I wasn’t expecting a lot and some if the bad reviews made me hesitant but it works great as a small tv for the kitchen. Video quality is pretty good and Sound isn’t great but it’s just enough for me and gets loud. It also came with the AC adapter cable unlike what some of the other reviews claim. I hooked it up to roku and it definitely is doing the job.

    The worst sound quality imaginable.

Pros:1) Very light weight. Nice weight for mounting in an RV.2) Nice picture. It’s very clear and adequately bright.3) AC/DC and functions on12V DC in the RV after you buy a DC cord.Cons:1) The worst sound quality I have ever experienced. My cell phone speaker is much louder. If your RV has the A/C running, or the microwave running, or there are kids playing outside of your RV, or it’s raining, you will not be able to hear your TV, even at 100% volume. My hearing is stellar. This TVs audio is shockingly poor. This is truly the quietest TV I have ever seen. It’s maybe 1/10th as loud as all other TVs I own.2) The DC cord is not included and must be purchased separately. AC/DC but no DC cord included?3) The AC cord is hardwired. AC/DC but the electrical AC/DC inputs are separate locations on the TV. The AC cord cannot be removed, so must be coiled up and stored behind the TV if running on DC.4) Leg mounting screws are included, but wall mounting screws are not included. 4 M4x10 if memory serves. $10.00 in gas and a trip to the hardware store for 4 mounting screws. (leg mounting screws and wall mounting screws should be the same as you are either mounting on the legs or mounting on a Wall. I guess my thinking is too simple)I’m disappointed and would not recommend this TV. It can run on 12V DC but was primarily designed to run on 120 AC. The poor audio is truly it’s downfall. If I keep it, I’ll have to run wires to the RV stereo for sound.

A few *serious* design flaws mar an otherwise decent product

This is a preliminary review based on owning the product for all of an hour. I’ll update it if I have any further thoughts. The first thing I noticed about the 1511 is that the way they designed the nub that attaches to the TV stand, although probably sturdy, is rather obnoxious for anybody who doesn’t intend to use it. Instead of putting a solid block of material *inside* the TV and attaching the stand from the *outside*, the nub itself is the solid block of material, and it is attacked from the *inside*.So basically, that bit in the manual that suggests hiring a professional to install it probably isn’t because there’s anything hard about VESA-mounting a TV that weighs only two pounds 10 ounces (without the nub), but rather because they don’t think the average user is capable of disassembling a TV set to remove the mounting nub that sticks out of the bottom. Yikes.Of course, having done many laptop surgeries over the years, this didn’t slow me down much. To remove the nub, you just take off the eight arrow-marked case screws (four on top, four on the bottom), carefully detach the front of monitor (including the flat panel) using fingernails or a spudger, remove two large silver screws inside the TV along with the plates that those screws hold on, lift off the nub, snap the TV back together, and replace the eight screws. But that sort of surgery really should not have been necessary for something that is generally considered a basic end-user task (removing the stand to wall-mount a TV).Another thing I quickly noticed is that the sound quality distorts at high volume. This doesn’t matter for my use case, but it is worth noting if you care about audio quality. But the biggest and most glaring flaw is the placement of the HDMI port. Supersonic put the HDMI port on entirely the wrong side of their circuit board, and designed the case in approximately the most objectively wrong way possible, such that it is nearly impossible to use the HDMI port without a 90-degree adapter. The problem with HDMI (and DVI and VGA) is that the cables do not allow for a tight turning radius. It takes a couple of inches to bend ninety degrees. And the connectors themselves are typically about two inches long by themselves. So an HDMI port requires at least four to six inches of unobstructed space out in front of it if you want to plug a cable in safely. On this TV, however, the HDMI connector is down inside an indented area on the back that is only about 2.25 inches tall. This is almost two inches too short for real-world HDMI cables to plug in safely without putting the cable and the port under continuous stress. I would not expect the HDMI port to last more than a few months under that sort of abuse.I’ll let that sink in for a moment. This port was literally DESIGNED TO FAIL when used in the way that most people normally use an HDMI port (by plugging a cable straight into it). That’s just *spectacularly* bad hardware design. Also, even with a right-angle adapter, if you are wall-mounting the set close enough to a wall that you need to make the HDMI cable go out sideways, it will end up covering the VGA port. (You can’t turn the cable the other direction because of the power cord.) To be fair, I haven’t seen VGA on any computer since the turn of the century, so admittedly that’s no great loss, but still, it’s a bad design. Also, I’d be amazed if you could plug most VGA cables in without a ninety-degree adapter, for the same reason that you can’t plug in most HDMI cables.Basically, SuperSonic desperately needs to hire someone with strong mechanical design experience to seriously redesign this product, starting by moving all of the RCA jacks from the end into that indentation (because RCA cables always have a fairly small turning radius) and moving all of the computer-related cords (VGA, HDMI) out to the end (because those cords never do).Next, they need to either redesign their stand to screw on from the outside instead of from the inside, or better yet, remove the nub entirely, and ship the product with a lightweight stand that has thin vertical posts going down the back and into the top of the base, and screws going through those posts into the VESA mount. Finally, they need to change the shape and layout of the main board (or possibly just shift it upwards) to allow them to make the bottom part (below the connectors) about twice as tall (without making the indentation any smaller). That change would allow them to put much larger speakers inside the case (larger than the holes in the front of the case) and then reflect the sound out the front. Such a design would, of course, require someone with acoustic design experience to get right, but I’m pretty sure it would be straightforward to dramatically improve the sound quality without significantly changing the size of the TV.Now I realize that this is an extremely inexpensive TV, and there’s sort of a “you get what you pay for” element to it, but on the flip side, I didn’t set out to buy a cheap TV; I set out to by a *small* TV. Unfortunately, most of the major manufacturers have completely abandoned the 15″ size class, so spending more to get better quality wasn’t really an option. So I got what I could get. And I’ve been able to make it work well enough for what I need to use it for (at least as soon as the 90 degree adapters that I shouldn’t have needed and can’t buy locally arrive in a few days). But someone who isn’t comfortable taking the back off of a brand new TV set probably would have shipped the product back upon discovering that the center nub won’t slide off. Somebody who isn’t familiar with right-angle adapters might have given up upon being unable to plug in an HDMI cable, or worse, might have plugged one in anyway and broken their HDMI port after six months. And so on.That’s why I hope SuperSonic reads this review and takes the ideas to heart, and spends a little bit of time redesigning the product to improve its usability and sound quality. This could be a good product, if they would just pay a little more attention to the details — specifically paying attention to how users would actually use their products and designing them to make that as simple as possible.

Works perfectly. NOT a Smart TV – which is exactly what we wanted

We wanted a slightly bigger TV for our small living room. Our old tv was 12 years old and only 27″. It had a good run. This 32″ model was perfect for our space. We needed it to fit on our current table since we don’t have room for anything bigger. We only use our tv for DVDs and connecting to the computer. This is compatible with both.We also definitely did NOT want a smart TV, and they’re very hard to find these days unless you buy a used one from somewhere. This works perfectly for us. The picture quality is good at 1080p – an upgrade from our old 720p TV. The negative reviews stating that this isn’t a smart TV aren’t very fair – the description clearly states it does not have smart features. We were able to hook it up easily to our external speakers and DVD/Blue Ray player. The internal speakers aren’t the greatest, but it was easy to turn them off in the menu options.

Decent picture but where is the audio?

The picture quality is not bad for the price but I am really disappointed in how bad the audio is. I understand there are some tiny speakers here to make the tv small but is sounds like crap. I purchased this for my parents and it’s very difficult to hear news or watch a program because the audio is so ‘thin’ and volume is terrible. I need to go look at external speakers to make this product usable. One more thing, the remote control codes that most tv manufacturers provide so you can use your cable/satellite/firestick, etc remote to control the power and volume for your tv is non-existent and the brand name (supersonic) doesnt show up as one of the hundreds of known tv manufacturers when I try to sync my Comcast remote to control this tv so I dont think this is even an option.

    Good small TV

Took a while for me to decide to purchase this TV after reading some of the negative reviews, but figured for the price I could give it a try. I wanted this to replace an old-style TV in our bathroom and it fits our needs perfectly. Like other reviews mention, if you are not directly in line with the TV, the picture either washes out (above tv) or darkens (below tv). This is the case with any small size LED tv, not just this model. I have a 19 inch Samsung and a 19 inch Magnavox in bedrooms and a 15 inch under counter Ventura that have the same issue. If you are above the screen it is still very viewable, even though the picture is somewhat washed out, however, if you have the TV above you, say on a shelf, it darkens to the point of not being able to view the picture. The good news is that this TV is so light, it is easily moved and the actual picture is very good. The sound is neither terrible or great, but just what I would expect from a small TV. I do not have this hooked up to cable, just an antenna, and it pulled in 23 stations. My only real complaints with this TV is that the stand is rigid, so you cannot tilt the screen and, also, it does not come with an antenna so you would have to buy one if you are not using a pay service, otherwise you will not be able to get any channels. I got a simple rabbit-ears type at Walmart for $10. It does come with a car jack which makes the lack of an included antenna seem ridiculous!I had actually looked at this TV months ago when I was shopping for a replacement TV for my kitchen. I ended up getting the 15 inch under counter Ventura at a much higher price and now I really wish I had got this one instead. Why? Because the picture is good, it takes up very little room, is easily moved around, and a much better price.

    RCA connections are inputs

Despite chatting with the Amazon expert and being assured that the RCA connectors are outputs, they are inputs. However, there was an optical audio out that I was able to use when using this in my camper as a replacement for the original TV. Seems to have a good picture and good reception using the camper antenna. Just wanted to make this post for others who might be looking to put it in a camper. Make sure your entertainment center has an optical audio input otherwise you would have to use an adapter in the headphone jack which limits you to having to have the entertainment system on to hear your TV.

Great kitchen TV, input on side though

Excellent TV. Quality picture and colors, great size in my kitchen. Control buttons clearly marked but not ugly and well placed on top of bezel. Only ding (-1 star) is the hdmi input is along left mid side and power cord comes in top left side. You can slightly see the cards looking head on. This might or might not bother some. I tilt mine in a way as to mostly hide it but kind of dumb engineering there.

Good little TV for the price

I have this on a shelf above the kitchen sink with a Chromecast connected so I can stream Netflix while I’m stuck doing kitchen work. The image is fine; I don’t know about viewing angles because I’m only glancing at the screen periodically, but it works fine for my purposes and I’ve noticed no problems. Sound is rather tinny, but I expected that, and since there’s a Google Home right beside it, and the acoustics are such that the GH often can’t hear me over the TV, I got a BT transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack, and connects to a speaker on the other side of the room. The GH can hear me, and I can hear the TV with decent sound. Win-win. I bought a wall mount for the TV, but have not yet installed it because the TV’s base is just that–the base–and the rest of the stand isn’t readily removed, so it will be left sticking out the bottom. I haven’t decided whether to leave it, or dremel it off, so the TV just sits on the shelf for now. I got a little Broadlink “black bean” remote, too, so GH can turn on the TV because it does not have HDMI CEC. I wouldn’t use this as my main TV, but overall it’s a good little TV for a small space. I created a GH routine where I say, “Drudgery time!” and GH turns on the TV and under cabinet lights, then starts (whatever show I’m currently binge-watching) on Netflix. Makes boring kitchen work less boring.I did not rate durability because I’ve had it only a couple of months so far.

Nice for the price, just don’t expect it to compete with a big screen tv

I bought a Supersonic 13″ tv for our kitchen. The picture was awesome, but just too small. I bought a Westinghouse 19″ to replace it, but due to the arrangement of our kitchen, we look downward at about a 15 degree angle to watch the tv and the contrast at that viewing angle was horrid. In addition, the sound was terribly tinny and distorted at reasonable levels. I bought the Supersonic 19″ to replace the Westinghouse. Fortunately, the Supersonic has good contrast at a downward angle (but not great at an upper viewing angle, a limitation of the flat-screen technology-you can’t have a wide viewing angle like a CRT tv). The picture quality is good, but the sound quality is no match for a larger tv, it seems weak and tinny. The tone controls have no discernable effect. I have heard better sound quality from tablets, so I know with current technology Supersonic might have paid more attention to sound quality, even at this low price point, which is the sole reason that I did not rate this with 5 stars.

    Poor sound quality

I picked this up for our workout room and we hardly use it because the audio quality is so poor. Let’s define “poor” a little better… the sound is tinny, needs to be cranked up quite high (about 30) to hear voices well and is missing bass. It is a shame as the video quality is quite good. I will try to keep it by spending extra money on a soundbar but it really defeats what I was trying to do.

Great TV for the price. (This review is specific to the 24″ size since that is what I purchased)

This review is specific to the 24″ size since that is what I purchased. After reading some of the other reviews about the lackluster viewing angle, I went to the company website and figured out a few things. The viewing angle on the 13.3″ and the 15.6″ TV’s is 90 degrees which means you have to be sitting directly in front of the TV to view it, which is typical for small (tiny) screens, especially at this price point. The viewing angle on the 19″ through 24″ TV’s is 170 degrees horizontal and 160 degrees vertical. The 32″ on up have a 176 degree horizontal AND vertical viewing angle.I bought this 24″ TV to replace an el cheapo ($75) 19″ LED TV I purchased for my 20 foot travel trailer about 2 1/2 years ago. I replaced the old one solely because of its lousy viewing angle (close to 90 degrees). This TV is about half the weight of the old TV, has more inputs, the picture is better and it has about 50% more viewing area thAn the old one. I wanted a 12 volt input so I can run off of battery power if need be.The speakers are so-so, could be louder, but I run everything through the DVD/CD/Radio combo in the trailer so that isn’t a concern for me. If I was using this in anything but a very small room, I’d definetly use a sound bar. Also this TV is “hanging” from a swivel mount on the wall and the speakers are pointed straight down at the floor, not at a table top or it’s not inside an entertainment “cubby” as some might do. I’d probably still use a soundbar especially if wall mounting it.The power consumption is about 20% more than the old TV, a fair trade off for the 50% bigger picture area. Overall very happy with the purchase. The only complaint, if it is really a complaint is that there seems to be no way to shut the speakers completely off like with the old one, but I’ll keep fiddling with it, maybe I haven’t found the setting yet.

It Gets The Job Done But With Some Compromises!!!

I needed a 13 inch TV to replace my Sharp 13 inch (broke after 13 years)!! I use my amp’s multi-room feature and pipe the signal in from the living room. This fits the bill but it does have all of the issues mentioned in the other reviews. Sound is just so, so and I needed to get a special bracket to angle it so I looked directly at the screen. If you are off access, the picture does suffer. But what really kills me is that using the composite video input (one yellow RCA jack) the only “normal” looking aspect ration is “Normal”. This is sad because it puts a 1+ inch black border around the entire picture – shrinking the 13 inch image to that of maybe a 9 inch TV. You can use the other aspect ratios: “Zoom”, “Wide Zoom” or “Cinema” – all will have a distorted image and everyone will appear fatter than the real image. It’s not bad, it fills the screen, but you do notice everyone is fatter than when you go the living room screen. Also if you are agonizing over whether to pick this one or the

No 12v DC cable included and VESA mount is faulty

Here’s what I like: It has good picture quality, the remote is good, the stand is easily removed for mounting, has a built-in tuner. Here’s what I don’t like: It didn’t come with a 12v DC cable, which since it’s marketed as a 12v TV, it should absolutely come with a 12v cable. The VESA mount sockets stripped very easily with the included screws and doesn’t hold the TV well at when wall mounted. I ended up trying a set of higher quality screws, but the damage had already been done. I ended up having to glue the screws into the VESA mounts on the TV so it would hold the screws. If you plan on just using the included stand, this is not a concern. The speakers are pretty bad, but that’s to be expected on a TV this size and I was not expecting decent quality sound. I use the headphone jack plugged into an external BT speaker… too bad the TV doesn’t have BT built-in to avoid using a wire for the eternal speaker, but that would have increased the price.Overall, not a bad TV. I have mine mounted in my van and it’s bright enough for viewing in bright daylight conditions. Viewing angles are fine, especially since I have it mounted on an articulating wall mount and can adjust the angle to best suit where I’m sitting. With the HDMI input, I can use it for my portable BD player, Android player, and as a second monitor for my laptop. If I’d known about the weak VESA mount, I probably would have looked for a different TV, but I’ve made it work with a little Gorilla Glue.

    Mediocre

I was looking for a small TV to put in my office, and there just aren’t very many options available. This one seemed the right size, so I went ahead and got it.There are a few problems with this TV. One, there is very little room available to plug in the HDMI cable. I have attached a picture so you can see what I’m talking about. There are only 2 inches of clearance available, and I had to really bend the cable hard to finally get it plugged in. Not impossible but very difficult. Maybe it wouldn’t be a problem if the cable was thinner but all of my HDMI cables seem to be the same thickness.I was able to plug in a VGA cable without much trouble because the cable is thinner and easier to bend. So if you’re only buying this to use as a computer monitor, this shouldn’t be a problem.Another problem is that the sound quality is very poor. Just kind of flat sounding. One more annoyance is that the mute button is at the top of the remote which is not very convenient. Not enough problems that I’m going to return this, but mainly because I won’t be using it very often and it’ll do the job adequately.Update: another problem I discovered is that TiVo doesn’t have a remote code for SuperSonic TVs. So I can’t set up my TiVo remote to use the TV’s power and volume buttons without trying every 4 digit code to finally find one that will work, which will probably take a few hours if a lower number doesn’t work. Extremely annoying. Dropping the rating down another star.Update #2: After a lot of internet searching, I found that codes 1002 and 1299 will mostly work with my TiVo remote and possibly Roku remotes too (I found the codes on a Roku board). I said mostly because my TiVo remote will power off, control volume and mute on/off. But it won’t power on, only power off. So much better than nothing at all but still not the way it should work.

A good TV for the kitchen or other tight spaces

This Supersonic TV works well enough. Since it’s an LCD display the color washes out when viewing from an angle. Not a defect, just the way things are with a LCD TV. We have it mounted under one of the kitchen cabinets which freed up a lot of counter space. Our old TV sat on the counter. The remote control has a lot of buttons and is confusing to some. Speaking of the remote control, the FireTV stick’s simple remote goes not work with the TV. I inquired to the manufacturer and they said their remote control was proprietary and couldn’t or wouldn’t give me the IR profile number to sync the FireTV stick remote. Also, as some have indicated, you will need a HDMI cable extender cable to plug in a FireTV stick.

Sounds tinny & Does not play video from USB

I know this is a cheap TV and I didn’t expect anything fancy but I wanted to rack mount it and play movies I have on thumb drives as I can with all my other TVs. This TV will only use jpg and mp3 files from the USB input. The sound buzzed as soon as I turned it on and the source audio sounds like a tin can. There was no user manual available online anywhere including the manufacturer’s web site. Could not find one until I got the one with the TV. I figured that any TV these days would play mp4 files on the USB input – it doesn’t.

    Excellent “Kitchen” TV

The background is that I owned a 9 inch Supersonic for ten years before upgrading to this one, and it performed flawlessly. The first 13 inch unit delivered was faulty from the jump. The screen had an intermittent bar code-like interference pattern that made it unusable. I returned it to Amazon, who quickly shipped a second unit (I think from a different supplier) and this one is working very well. There are some questions about Supersonic TVs that other reviewers have addressed and my own comments on them follow.1) It is close to impossible to contact Supersonic directly so any warranty you get is Amazon’s and you might consider a protection plan which is pretty cheap (I didn’t)2) If you get picture problems on start-up then do follow the troubleshooting guide in the manual and turn on the dynamic contrast from the menu.3) The sound is certainly very tinny but you can use the audio menu to boost the bass and lower the treble to near-zero. My old Supersonic had very low volume but this one is better and we can do without an external speaker. If you need one there is an earphone jack for it.4) For me I can still see the picture at least 60 degrees from boresight. Many other reviews are negative.5) Connectors are a weakness with Supersonic, mostly because there is not enough room to mate them. I had trouble inserting my HDMI and the coax jack is the same, you have to bend the cable very sharply.6) There is no rechargeable battery in this unit. It is made to plug in to 110VAC through a AC/DC converter (supplied)7) It’s a very nice looking TV and fits easily under a kitchen cabinet8) These days there is not too much of a selection of small screen TVs especially with 1080p, though you don’t notice much difference until you are within 3-4 feet.I’m hoping that my good luck with Supersonic in the past holds this time.(I edited this review on10.03.2020 to add that the picture quality has proved to be excellent and I’ll try to give it an extra star.)

I wanted a small TV for the breakfast nook. This one did not dissappoint. Nice construction, great picture, works well with Fire TV the sound is what I expected. The TV speakers are very small and the sound comes out of the bottom of the TV. The sound quality is tinny not much bass but, I expected this when I bought the TV. The remote control only works with the TV and the Fire remote does not work for TV controls. Overall I am very please with this unit.

    Good TV with some flaws

I bought this TV as a replacement for another 19″ TV on my kitchen countertop that died after a thunderstorm. Here is my review:- Picture: On the plus side the picture is sharp with good color rendition. On the negative side the viewing angles aren’t very good. The horizontal viewing angle is about 30* on each side. For the vertical it washes out quickly when viewed from above and darkens when viewed from below.- Tuner: The tuner is quite good! I use an antenna and when it scanned for channels it selected all channels that had moderate to strong signals and discarded all channels that had weak signals. In addition, it changes channels quickly- Sound: As most viewers have noted the built in speakers sound very tinny. I found this grating but my wife thought it sounded acceptable. I fixed this by purchasing a pair of Amazon Basics USB Plug-n-Play Computer Speakers. These attach to the TVs USB port and headphone jack. When attached the TVs remote control adjusts the sound of these speakers and disconnects the internal speakers. Just make sure that you turn up the volume control of the Amazon speakers. Once it is adjusted you don’t have to adjust it any more. Boy what a difference! Well worth the additional &15.50 cost.Amazon Basics USB Plug-n-Play Computer Speakers

    Works for my small space

This is not a high quality television. Period. However, it works for the small space on my kitchen counter. I would have to agree with so many of the reviews that describe the sound as “tinny” yet at the same time, it IS audible and I can live with it. I would agree with yet another review that described the picture as sharp with good color rendition WHEN LOOKING STRAIGHT ON. The picture quality changes depending on one’s viewing angle. It will lighten/wash out OR darken as I walk around the kitchen doing tasks. If I stay in one general area and adjust the screen appropriately, it is just fine. A small inconvenience to me is that I am not able to press/hold the up or down arrows on the remote to adjust the volume. Instead, I have to repeatedly click the arrow as it adjusts one digit at a time. I prefer holding the button down while the volume increases or decreases automatically (and much more quickly). Again, something I can live with but certainly not what I’m used to with other remote controls. Bottom line, I will use this television until I find something better. (I am not actively looking.) But for the reasonable price, it will be pretty easy to replace one day without feeling guilty.

    OK, but be aware: not really 1080p;

This product is fine, but I have 2 reservations about it1. This is not ‘really’ 1080p. It’s a marketing trick that I am angry I fell for. I explicitly searched for a 1080p television and I was fooled. A real 1080p television should have 1920×1080 resolution. This tv has 1366×788 but can process a 1080p signal.2. Sound is not good. The tv is not bad. I do like all the available connectors. There is an earphone connector which I will connect to some pc speakers. it is very lightweight. And I am glad that it is -not- a ‘smart’ tv which is getting harder to find.

Poor input design: streaming and WiFi devices don’t fit

I tried plugging in an Amazon Fire Stick and an usb. All the ports and plugs face down, not out, so NOTHING has enough room to be plugged in. No USB, no fire stick, no hdmi, no conversion cables. If you want a tv that you can stream Netflix or Amazon prime, keep looking. This tv is only good for OTA reception. What good is having inputs for streaming devices if there’s no room to actually plug anything in? Terrible design

    Decent quality for the price

Easy to set up and picture and sound are good for a small tv

Remote is broken from the start.

Tv works, but the remote doesn’t. I used the remote to turn it on for the first time, and then it stopped working immediately afterward. I tried it with different batteries, and also tried the batteries they sent in another device. The batteries were fine, but the remote still doesn’t work.

Nice small display for use with computers. “1080p” is marketing jargon, really 1360×768

I bought two of these for the sound/lights operators at our community theater. The sound/light booth is at the front of the balcony, so a large display would be visible & distracting to the audience. We use large displays to program & set up our shows and then for performances we unplug the HDMI cable from the big displays and plug them into these. So for this review keep in mind that I don’t care about / did not evaluate:1. TV tuner2. Remote control3. Inputs other than HDMI (also offers Antenna, A/V, VGA, and USB)4. Sound/speakers5. Ability to run from cigarette outlet in a carIt has all those features, and that’s awesome if you want them. I’m using them as computer displays, plugged into Mac Minis via HDMI and running from AC power. For my purposes, they’re fine. The “1080p” claim is a bit misleading; it takes a 1080p signal but clearly it’s not displaying 1920×1080 resolution. The display is not very sharp when pushing a 1090p signal. The display reports to OS X as capable of 1080p, 1080i, 720p, or 1360×768 – the latter of which is probably the actual resolution of the display. We don’t particularly care about the sharpness; the lighting & sound apps we’re using when in “Show Mode” have uncluttered display and plenty large enough text, so we run them in 1080p mode just so that the screen layout doesn’t change when we switch out from our larger 1920×1080 monitors. If you’re using it as a computer display, keep in mind it’s really 1360×768 for best sharpness.I like that all functions (switching inputs, turning overscan on, adjusting screen brightness) are available from the buttons on top of the display. I’ve seen some TVs where these functions can ONLY be performed by remote control, and fortunately we don’t have to keep track of the remotes.I like that the display is extremely lightweight. It has VESA mount holes on the back; we’re not using them but nice to see. We use the included stand, which does tilt back but probably no more than 10 degrees. If we find we need them to lay back further at least we can fabricate something using the VESA mounts. The cables all plug in from the bottom, so nothing sticking out if you’re mounting it flat to something – that’s nice. The HDMI port has pretty tight clearance from the socket to the bottom stand though, getting an AmazonBasics HDMI cable plugged in took some work. AmazonBasics are a little clunky though, there are cables available with smaller plugs. Given that we’re switching these in & out for every show, I’ve ordered some 270-degree HDMI right angle adapters to make it easier (make sure you get the 270 type, not the 90 type, due to the orientation of the connector). The AC adapter cords are not super long, probably 4 feet.Bottom line: Four stars for a solid display with great features and design and a good price, but a rather dubious “1080p” claim

    Good…BUT

telly is a low cost unit to replace a little kitchen tv…picture is excellent, setup was easy (a pedestal stand would have been more convenient…tried to adapt the pedestal from the old tv but no joy) BUT the sound quality is absolutely horrible (as reported by others)…very tinny and low maximum volume… got around the sound quality by putting on plug and play computer speakers but that didn’t help volume problem…apart from that a serviceable little unit for little $$

    Nive unit for small space

Nice unit for the price, for a small area. Clear picture, easy set up. However, the speakers sound a little “tinny “. But if you’re listening through headphones the sound is excellent.
