Good Affordable Blue-Ray Disc Player
I purchased this budget-friendly Blu-ray Disc Player primarily for my extensive DVD collection, and for the one Blu-ray Disc I own. The setup was straightforward, possibly aided by the fact that I have a Sony TV, though I don’t think it would be difficult to configure with a non-Sony television. I’ve seen complaints about difficulties setting up streaming services, but I don’t believe that’s the player’s primary purpose, nor is it marketed by Sony as a streaming device. Overall, it’s an excellent player, and I believe it’s a solid choice.

Just what I needed!
I only unpacked and set this up last week, so I can’t speak to durability, but I imagine this Sony product will not crumble over time. Right now, I’m more than satisfied. Easy to set up, easy to operate, terrific sound and an absolutely gorgeous picture. The remote control is a bit small, but intuitively designed. I think my collection of DVDs will be well-served, which was what I had in mind when I was shopping for a player. This has most of the high end properties of much more expensive items, including pre-set links to many outside services and full wi-fi capabilities. I’m a happy camper.

Doesn’t support Amazon Prime
How this player rates an “Amazon’s Pick” I’ll never know since it doesn’t support Amazon Prime, even though it’s predecessor did. Returning this one. Will find something that is more flexible with adding apps or included apps. This unit doesn’t allow for any personalization. I will say the picture resolution was noticeably better than the older version, but that doesn’t matter if you can’t watch what you want.

Plays well
The pros are it works well on regular and blu-ray disc’s, cons – interface is clunky, not connected to the net so can’t speak on that. An adult probably would need to connect it all up,and do rest of initial setup. It took me awhile to get and I’m tech savvy.

Poor performance on Netflix
Although the picture quality for DVDs is fine, there is a problem with using this for Netflix. I have an 80 network speed so no problem with bandwidth. It worked well at first but soon the unit went to go a spinning circle with single digit percent showing and get stuck there as if the Internet was bogged down.. Pressing the Netflix button lets me back out, but attempting to watch any other video or the same Netflix video results in a long wait for the loading of the movie, often failing with the single digit percent circle.. Perhaps the buffer is too small or old data is not getting released from the buffer? . . .Since I have Netflix on the other device, I’ll just use this as a DVD player.

Awesome product for the price!
We ordered this Blu-Ray DVD player after our beloved JVC (gold standard) finally died a slow death. We were very skeptical as Sony products have really gone down hill and product support is all but nonexistent. However, so far this player is equal to the picture quality of our JVC in half the body. I’m a sound and picture connoisseur, the Blu-Ray movies TopGun and the Avengers are always the test for any new electronics and the player passed with flying colors! I gave the player five stars in the listed categories, but will provide comments and a re-rating of stars after the true test of longevity 6+ months. I really don’t expect it to last as long as our JVC (11 years of awesome performance), I’d settle for 3-5 years considering it’s a Sony and due to the price.

Constantly Freezes
I gave this 3 stars because it’s great for playing dvd’s/blue ray. But, when using Netfilx or other apps it constantly skips or freezes. Sometimes it’s so bad that I have to actually unplug the system then plug it back in. And every other time I have to do that I have to completely set up the whole dvd player (wifi, passwords, etc.). And now, today, I have been trying to set everything up all day and have not been able to use Netflix or anything else, only the dvd player. I have only had this dvd player for about 7 months and now have to buy something else that has similar features because I can now only use the dvd player. Pretty disappointing.

Easy to set up.
I was impressed with the ease of setting it up. You plug in the power cord and the included HDMI connector and turn it on and you’re ready to go. It’s equipped for Wi-Fi so if you want to use that you’ll just using the remote that came with the unit to connect to the player.To watch a DVD (or Blu-Ray disc) you just press the button on the remote and insert the disc. The unit is smart enough to recognize the correct input channel (HDMI 1, or HDMI 2 if your TV only has two). (Then when you’re through what you’re watching and turn the unit off, it remembers the input channel you were on previously and goes back to it before switching off.)

Great
Works great, no issues at all. Only thing I could see being odd is my PlayStation controller turns it on and off possibly due to them both being sony products. The ones fussing about it not being loaded with certain apps all you have to do is connect it to your internet and download the apps. Maybe they did t realize it was that simple

Wired ethernet connection does not work – apps are DOG SLOW
The item cannot connect to wired network, despite the fact that it has a wired port and advertises hat it can connect to wired networks. I was able to connect via wifi, but all of he apps are beyond slow. Just scrolling through, if you hit the left or right button to select, it can take over 2 full minutes for the next choice to be highlighted. This thing is so slow that it basically does not function. Buyer beware.

DVD drawer won’t open
I bought this in May of 2021. It is February of 2023 and the drawer won’t open. I have tried several things that I found in the manual on the internet to get the drawer to open and it won’t. I use it maybe once a week – if that. Now I have to buy another one – but it will be a different brand!

Built in wifi for those that need it
I was excited to get a DVD player that my child could connect their tablet to and watch their shows. We are planning to get rid of our TV provider and this is one step closer. I was disappointed that I could have waited another month or so and purchased at a local big box store for $30 less.

Bought this to play blu-rays on my computer screen. Cant get this working at all, plugged in power and HDMI and nothing. Have power, other brand DVD player works just fine, but cant get this to work at all. No answer from customer service and cant find any help on line.

Does not have a lot of smart TV apps
The unit is easy and straight forward to install. The one thing that took me the longest was plugging the unit into the power strip. (I had about a 3″ wide area in which to work the plug in)What I like the best is how fast the dvd tray opens. My old machine took forever to open.

Nice little player
Giving this 5 stars in spite of the fact that I didn’t receive the HDMI cable with it but did receive two cleaning kits. I interpreted this as a packing malfunction and not a product issue. The player works as advertised and has the features listed. Setup very simple. Amazing what they pack into such a small unit……it was a fraction the size of the old unit it replaced and has many more features.

I’m not a disc-player expert, but . . . .
It’s compact, I’ll say that much for it. The remote is fine — IF you have minuscule fingers and hands for the really tiny and unintuitive buttons (granted, I’ve seen exactly two really good remotes in my lifetime). It seems quite slow to open the app you choose (some extra clicks involved here), and also wants to initialize every time I use it. Why?? Very annoyingly, it doesn’t go right back to my last viewing selection: It starts to show whatever Netflix is featuring at that moment (very irritating) and I have to click Options and then actually search for what I was watching last time. Maybe it’s Netflix . . . maybe it’s the guy who set it up . . . maybe it’s me. If you find a faster, smarter, more intuitive player, buy that one.

I Should Have Read the Reviews more Carefully
I bought this as a gift for my daughter. She has it installed and is happy with it except for the lack of the Amazon app. She has a Firestick or two so not a deal breaker. More concerned about the high price and infant mortality. The high price can be somewhat explained by the inclusion of a HDMI cable and the DVD cleaner but not for $40 extra. My mistake for not looking at other vendors. I have her using it as much as possible to make sure it keeps working past the return date. This review will be updated in a month or two.

it works perfect
this was bought to replace a bluray player that took forever to load, sometimes would not load unless turned off and tried twice, and would stop in the middle of the movie and would not let you restart or go to a different chapter without the same problem. This player works perfectly. it loads in a flash and goes past all the other movie previews, the picture is great, the sound is better than our previous play and it is easier to use. Definitely a 5 star player. If anything changes I will update my review.

Cheap
The blue ray player does a nice job playing my store bought movies and music. I haven’t tried my music mixes. I don’t know if they were closed properly so it wouldn’t be fair in rating for them.I thought that I would be able to cast to my tablet. I spent hours trying to get my movies to play on my tablet and didn’t have any luck. I don’t know what good the wifi is if I can only play on my TV.The controller is a pain! It only works to control the player. I have to use my TV controller for changing input,sound and on and off on the TVI guess I should have expected problems. You get what you pay for and this blueray is a cheep device

Lousy Package Deal
When I searched for the Sony BDP-BX370 Blu-ray player in September 2022, this package deal for $114.99 was the only way it seemed to be offered. I would probably never need, and anyway wouldn’t use the mystery-brand “lens cleaner” (how 1980’s) that was part of the package. And if you’re like me, you probably have lots of HDMI cables sitting around the house, so the new one in the package is of no real value.Now, today, I get an email from Amazon offering the BDP-BX370 by itself for $78.00. So that’s $37 down the drain. Rats! Murphy was right.

Everything was great about this blu-ray player but unfortunately I did not realize the Amazon Prime app is not available on this model. It was necessary to return it. I wish the description was a little more inclusive about what apps were available. One more thing the Sony remotes are very slow.

pretty sure this was a bad idea
I have an older TV upstairs. It does not have WiFi Bought this. had one before and the remote works for this one too! Great until you realize that they have not changed this thing in decades. No big deal except the WiFi is not great. But the worst thing is? it only allows you to choose from a dozen old and defunct apps to go to.. for instance..you can one access Amazon prime from it. And there is no way to add programs.I bought an Amazon Fire stick and could not be happier.

Simple blu ray player
I’ve seen all of these other reviews about not having all of the “smart” apps available. Here’s my take. I wanted a simple bluray/DVD player to watch movies. I’ve got a smart TV, Chromecast, Firestick, etc. I don’t need the player for all of that. I just simply want it to play a disc without digitizing and pausing to the point of a restart and maddening frustration. This one fits the bill. I just want to watch a disc movie. This one works for that seemingly simple task. My 12 year old Samsung had turned into an aggravating POS. This newer mode player just simply works for the task. Works great
I have a huge collection of DVDs and love that I can easily watch them using this Sony DVD player as well as access Netflix. If you want to log into other services (prime, etc.), you’ll need to add some other device to the mix like Roku, Apple TV or whatever new thing has come along. In the meantime, this is a simply way to watch DVDs and connect to a newer tv with the hdmi cable.

Easy peasy
Nice basic blu-ray player. I needed a replacement for my 5-disc DVD changer which died recently. Mostly I am happy with it….I didn’t really believe the “smart” features would work..so I didn’t buy with the intention of using them. The “standard” dvd mode video output “flips” a lot and it very annoying. The blu ray playback is stable. The YT app won’t open. The “device” usb port will not read my fat32 formatted usb stick. There are several drawbacks. Not sure if the “standard” mode video distortion is my problem or the unit. Blu Ray playback works! And that is the main thing that matters for my purchase.

Older bluray player
This is obviously an older player as you can’t download any new apps and over half the apps aren’t in existence anymore. The controller is slow to respond, even with new batteries. Best to use this on a Sony TV, as the pairing on our newer non Sony TV wouldn’t pair, making it an extra required controller.The bluray player itself works, but there can’t be any defects or smudges on the disc or it will get stuck. The DVD cleaner that comes with is cheap and likely to ruin the player sooner.If you need a basic player with access to Netflix and YouTube and you have fast internet, this player will be fine.
