Great monitor for sound, picture, functionality & price

This monitor replaced an Asus monitor that constantly cut out intermittently. It is very bright and the volume can be easily adjusted to a loud setting. This does not cut out or even flicker. The sound is not stereo or high quality, but it is easily heard. There are numerous settings that can be adjust for everything–pic, sound, color, etc. And for the price ($150), I am very happy with this.A main critique from other users is the flimsy stand. It is flimsy and wobbles each time you touch the monitor or access the menu, but it does not move during normal use. And by no means does it appear that it will fall apart. But the stand does have a great tilt feature that only adds to its appeal. So great monitor, much better than my previous Asus.

Good quality screen for the money.

I’m only a day into this monitor and can’t speak for its longevity or how long before I get tired of it but so far Im satisfied for what it is, a basic no frills monitor. Screen is bright and I’ve been slowly reducing the brightness and contrast to adjust for my eye comfort. Fonts are sharp for a 27″ 1080p, there is a sharpness adjustment that works well. I think a 27 inch is the biggest I would go with this type of resolution. Colors are nice and bright. I’ve read reviews where there is lots of movement on the panel and it will move (sort of springy) if touched but when placed on a solid or semi solid surface there’s nothing to worry about. It is not frame-less but I don’t even notice the frame when looking at the screen. In a world of PC’s and monitors that most seem to be “game” oriented, this is a very nice basic monitor and for the money, even better.

It’s a little clunky because the buttons aren’t marked, but this is so worth it

I’m currently got my Chromebook hooked up to it and you do have to learn how to doggle through the unmarked buttons. Right to left I believe they go one through six or one through five we have to toggle or toggle between HDMI and vga. Once you figure that out, if you play audio on the TV by itself, it doesn’t sound so good. If you play the audio from a computer or Chromebook hooked up to the tv, I can’t explain how but it sounds incredible. It’s like I added a 27-inch screen to my chromebook. It’s not completely plug and play cuz you still have to press buttons on the Chromebook and that’s alternate plus one of the top buttons usually the fifth button over from the left on top you got to press those two together. As far as the TV the button on the far right in is the power button. That only needs to be pressed once because once it receives a signal it turns itself on. And that is a plus in the long run. Hooking up a Playstation 2 you got to jump through a few more hoops but it can be done as well if you use the VGA serial connector. But, to use that, you must first hook up something with HDMI so you can rotate the screen over to vga. you better have the PlayStation on when you do this because it will revert to HDMI within 5 seconds if it does not receive a signal from the VGA. You got to have that PlayStation 2 up and running/ updatede PS2 fix! Get the PS2 HDMI converter with the power for USB… works better than the RCA cables 🙂

    Great For The Value

The monitor is great for the price point. I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular considering it is not a 4/5k monitor. If you need a monitor for standard computer work this will fit your needs. What the monitor exceeds at is it refresh rate when it comes to gaming. I moved my PS4 into my bedroom because I work from home, but I’m going to keep it in my room because the quality of gaming on this is where it excels. The only two down sides I have is build quality and sound. It’s pretty flimsy, but for less than $150 that’s expected. The real and only issue I have with this monitor is the speakers. They lack depth and leave you wanting more. You will definitely need to buy external speakers or use headphones.Overall I would purchase this product again if I needed a second display or replacement.

    Great big monitor

I love the size of this monitor it is light, the colors are crisp, and the text is sharp. It is very easy to use with only one wire to connect. The only con is the built in speakers don’t have much fidelity it does have an audio output if you want to use external speakers. I don’t do any gaming but watching videos is very fluid with no streaking or stuttering.

    Works in a Pinch

Pretty standard budget gaming monitor. I originally purchased this to replace a failed Acer monitor, and it performed well. The only complaints that I have is that the backlight is noticeably dim, even after making the necessary adjustments through the easy to modify settings. This dimness is readily apparent when used in a multi-monitor setup.I’ve since replaced this unit on my main rig, but continue to use it in my hardware lab, where it performs adequately, and the dimness is not a factor.

Okay for the money, but be realistic

I bought this monitor because it has dual HDMI inputs and built-in speakers so I can use my work laptop and my personal computer. The first thing I did when I got it hooked up is hit YouTube, but it sounded like I was listening to someone talk at the end of a tunnel. The video quality is decent and I’m using my Bluetooth speaker for the audio. The stand is a little wobbly but not too bad. Another dual HDMI input monitor I was looking at was almost twice the cost, so this is fine for a budget.

    Perfect for computer work

I was in a bit of a rush Black Friday shopping and judged a book by its cover: I did not check to see if these monitors were IPS rated, and they are not. The cover image showed color-grading software being used, so I added these to the cart and moved on. The color depth / representation isn’t BAD at all — but I did buy these to edit videos on, so I’m going to give one to our church secretary and buy an IPS monitor for my actual color grading.

Sceptre is my favorite monitor brand!

My favorite monitor come from sceptre have had multiple gaming setups Bc I’m in and out of gaming all of the time and by far sceotre makes the best onky problem is out of the box I always have to mess with picture color Bc it’s very vibrant is makes darker games look horrible other than that I love these monitors especially for the price!

    Great monitor for casual gamers

I was a little bit skeptical about buying this monitor but it came pretty quick with no noticeable issues. The speakers are a bit off, I noticed that they sound a bit high pitched and it can be hard hearing certain things in the game. But other than that the monitor is pretty great. I personally like the settings options and being able to tilt the monitor. I definitely recommend this for causal gaming

    Great for the price

For $139 and 27 inch it’s a great monitor but as you see in the picture on the left is the sceptre on the right an old V7 the white color is off seems dim no matter how I adjust the settings this was as close as I could get it to match the V7 but it’s still an off white and not as bright as the V7 but not a deal breaker for me as it’s just for the home office

    Can’t adjust the brightness

I have tried so many things in so many ways. It is unintuitive. If there is a way to adjust the brightness, why would it take 4-5 hours to figure this out? Go with another brand that doesn’t give you the run around.

    4 Years In

I bought this screen about 4 years ago, and I must admit I am impressed. It still is awesome quality – HOWEVER, there are some dead pixels in the bottom of my screen. Sceptre is a cheaper quality brand so this is to be expected over time. But all-in-all very nice screen worth the money.

Only 1 problem that just started

I love this monitor, used to use it as my main but recently started using it as my secondary. I have had no problems until recently, whenever I use the monitor it glitches and shows huge pixels that don’t go away for like 20 seconds. I don’t know why this is happening, I’ve had it for just under a year and never dropped it or damaged it. Other than that its perfect. I love the built in speakers and it runs smoothly.

    An OK product…

I bought 2 of these around Black Friday as I was prepping to update my PC. They were shipped damaged. It wasn’t that they got damaged in shipping… no, the 2 boxes were both torn up and the torn areas were placed against each other inside the box and then sent to me. One was DOA because of this damage, the other died 6 months later. Luckily, Amazon sent me another one immediately to replace the DOA, and the company was quick to RMA the one that died later. Tho it did cost me an extra $50 to ship it to them.As for the screens themselves.. good color and brightness, but terrible screen glare. As long as you keep these away from windows you should be ok. It’s manageable but annoying. I’m now on the hunt for something to cut down the glare and I can’t help but think I’d have saved money in the long run by just buying better monitors.

They aren’t 4k monitors, but for the price they can’t be beat. The sound might work better if the monitors are closer to the wall, but they sound a little hollow otherwise. Decent bass though.

my viewsonic led screen served me faithfully for about 13 years just about everyday, 12 hours a day before it sort of died. it was blinking and takes 15-30 minutes to stay on. so i decided to replace it with a larger screen, and this one ranked in the top 100. it’s very affordable. picture looks great as do the colors. sound is comparable to my viewsonic with 2-watt speakers. i use headphones to listen to music anyway. time will tell.

Did not come damaged; in great condition, very user friendly budget monitor

I just got into the realm of building a PC and a friend recommended this to me as a starter monitor. I read a lot of reviews saying it came damaged, or that it was broken, or had a faulty base.My monitor came in great condition and was packaged properly. The base to the monitor is kind of wobbly so keep that in mind but as long as you’re not slamming on your desk consistently you should be okay. Screen quality is great and I haven’t seen any dead pixels so I feel it’s a great starter monitor for gaming or anyone getting into the PC world

    Fine for me!

I got this to use with my Chromebook and IPad. When used with my Chromebook it is connected via an hdmi cable. When used with my IPad I cast the picture onto the monitor using a Roku (also hooked up with an hdmi cable). Both set ups work well. The monitor has speakers on it that are fine for basic and see, but if you want to listen to music or games you will want to use a blue tooth speaker. Chromebooks have multi screen capabilities, and the monitor works very well in that mode. For what I use it for, this monitor works very well, and is a fantastic value. If I had your kids though I would want a more secure base. While I have not had any issues with it, I suspect kids could knock the monitor over rather easily. It works fine for me, though.

    Very Good Visual Quality

Excellent screen and presentation for your computer at a reasonable price. Very good picture quality without eye strain. The only drawback I found was they tinny and weak sound of the speakers. I deducted one star for that but you can always add your own speakers.

Great monitor for a reasonable price.

I bought one of these for the ‘home’ PC in the kitchen which I share with my wife. She plays some games, but I use it as a monitor-only.I was so impressed I bought a second for my home-office. I had 3 monitors already, but I swapped one out for the Sceptre . I can connect a 2nd PC and I can switch from one to the other with the push of a button.Worth every penny!

I would just get the version without built in speakers

The speakers were worse than I expected even for budget monitor speakers. Both my laptop speakers and the old Vizio TV I was using for a monitor sound better. The monitor is also making a high pitched sound depending on what is displayed on the screen. I haven’t been able to determine if it is because the speaker circuit isn’t filtered well or if it’s coming form another component inside the screen. Still, the picture is very good and honestly for the price I’d buy it again. I’d just opt for the model without a speaker and pick up a cheap little soundbar or something.

    Get what you pay for

I bought this to use as an external monitor for my MacBook Pro and am disappointed. I wasn’t expecting the resolution of an apple studio display, but the display quality on this Sceptre monitor is really poor. Text appears grainy and difficult to read and the ghosting even with the anti ghosting / gaming features turned on is awful.I bought this because I don’t really do any gaming and just needed a larger display to setup on my desk to use my slicing softwares for 3d printing. I’m using Lychee to place supports on models and the graininess of this makes it kind of painful on your eyes to place supports with precision unless you zoom WAY in.The brightness is fine and is comfortable to look at. It has a night shift type of feature built in, but you have to change this manually and it won’t automatically switch when your computer switches and there is no ambient light detection to help it either. The speakers built into this monitor are exactly what you would expect for speakers built into a 100 dollar monitor. They’ll work in a pinch but this is not something you want to expose your ears to for a long period of time, unless you’re okay with a low volume tinny output. The ports available to use on this monitor are great as well, but not of enough of a plus to outweigh the cons of it’s primary function as a display.Lastly, the stand included with the monitor is flimsy and on a super sturdy table top that doesn’t have any give or movement, the stand on this monitor still wobbles at the slightest vibration. Reminds me of a jello mold the entire time I’m using it.Overall, super disappointed with this display and I may repurpose it for use in my garage to play some workout videos off of a Roku or an Apple TV.

The monitor works. The price is good. The color on the monitor is not very good. The speakers are terrible. Speakers are on the back of the monitor. Not very audible from the front. It does have a 3.5mm audio out option to connect to a speaker. I just got a Bluetooth speaker since it is used as a second monitor for my laptop.

Save like $50 and get a MUCH better monitor

It’s cheap as hell and that’s basically the only good thing I have to say about it. For reference my setup has 3 separate monitors, a 32 inch asus HDR beast, a 27 inch AOC monitor that was only a little more expensive than this one, and this awful Sceptre monitor. The picture is awful and the gamma varies drastically depending on the viewing angle. The refresh rate is garbage. The sound is tin-y and full of background noise. I’ve honestly bought speakers from a dollar store that sound better. If you just want to see what your computer is trying to display then I guess this is acceptable- but for literally only a little bit more you could get a similarly cheap monitor with MUCH better quality. This is like the dollar store equivalent of a gaming monitor and I’ve regretted my purchase ever since I bought it.

    Cheap no frills monitor

I just hooked this up after a black friday sale.Things I’ve noticed. (no dead pixels for me).Pros- it’s definitely a large improvement vs the 24″ monitor I was using before.- I verified on blankwebsite.com- the yellowish light to get rid of blue light is nice. It’s a lot easier on the eyes.Cons- The stand is extremely cheap. It feels like if my cats bump it it will tip over and brake. Also you can’t adjust the angle of the monitor on the stand (it is a really cheap flimsy stand). This is probably a deal breaker for me.- It has a wallwart rather than a regular plug which could make it difficult for fitting into a powersupply or outlet.- there’s a really annoying flashing blue light whenever your computer isn’t sending signal to it. In the dark it’s really annoying.
