Nice monitor to pair with Mac Mini but included web cam does not work

This is a pretty nice 32″ monitor. It was easy to put together right out of the box. I ordered it to go with an M2 Mac Mini based on a recommendation from a website I trust. And it was an excellent price for Black Friday 2023. (I opted for this combo rather than the 24″ iMac b/c I wanted a larger monitor & Apple no longer sells a 27″ iMac) Why pay for an Apple brand separate monitor when this one is of equivalent quality for about 20% of the price? It hooked up to the Mac Mini right away with the included USB C cable. The sound from the monitor speakers is OK and fine for Zoom and Facetime calls. I have used the monitor speakers for music or movies however. The only real disappointment is that I could not get the tiny included webcam to work. It connects to the monitor thru a magnetic connection on the back of the monitor, but the monitor never recognized the camera. This was even the case when I wasn’t using the Mac Mini. In other words, even when I was using the monitors own software interface, it would not recognize the included camera. The only other thing that was slightly disappointing is the need to use the included remote control to adjust the speaker volume. (In other words, neither volume nor brightness can be adjusted via the keyboard, as would be the case if you bought an “all in one unit” such as an iMac or a Macbook. So, basically, if you can live without an “all in one” desktop system such as an iMac, this is monitor is a good compromise when paired with a Mac Mini although I had to spend a few extra dollars on a webcam.

Looks good and for the price (currently $399); works as advertised!

Looks good and for the price (currently $399) is an excellent purchase for the features it contains; works as advertised! This was the 2nd Samsung M8 monitor I that I’ve ordered in as many weeks, the 1st one came damaged (from a different Amazon supplier) with a broken screen so sent that back and got a refund. The packaging was wholly inadequate to be shipped by one of the large carriers and the obvious happen (damaged screen!)I then ordered the same monitor again (this time from Signature Distributors – Fulfilled by Amazon) and this time the box was delivered partially open with the USB camera (Slim-fit Webcam) hanging out of the box? The camera is broken (plastic neck section on camera is snapped in half?) The monitor itself works well but I need to secure a replacement Slim-fit Webcam for the broken one. Yet again the monitor was shipped in only it’s warehouse boxing, without the extra padding of a proper, stout shipping box which is mind boggling to me!I have to keep the monitor (it works well) because my work schedule now relies on it but can someone from Signature Distributors call or email me about how I go about getting a replacement Slim-fit Webcam for the Samsung M8 monitor? Amazon have my details I’m sure… Thnx.

    love everything except the camera!

This monitor is so great and looks so stylish. It’s a great dupe for the apple version and works seamlessly with my mac laptop and apple products. It’s been really user friendly and I have no complaints about the actual monitor. The camera on the other hand is a big disappointment and makes me somewhat wish I had gone for the cheaper version without the camera. Like other reviews have stated, the camera pans REALLY high. Even with the monitor at it’s lowest point (which then makes the monitor at a weird spot), I only take up the bottom third of the screen and the rest is above me. Most webcams allow you to tilt the camera down, but the way the camera attaches to the monitor prevents it from pointing down, so you’re out of luck unless you have a standing desk. I had to purchase another webcam which works fine, but it disrupts the sleek look of the monitor so I have to take it on and off as I use it.

    Decent monitor with limitations

Ordered a green one, got a white one. Slightly annoyed, but that’s what happens when you buy it used.Monitor is decent, but some obvious limitations. Small port selection, micro-HDMI for some bizarre reason, lack of VESA compatibility coupled with a meh stand, speakers are worse than expected, extremely limited viewing angles even for a VA panel. Looks incredibly washed out viewing it from even a 30 degree angle. Great from straight on though. At full retail, there are better options, but nothing comes close in terms of form factor. But if you can get it on sale or used for around 350, it can provide solid value as long as you’re not expecting too much.

    Great monitor

Works great with my MacBook Pro and it came with all the adapters. Which was awesome! Easy to setup and use. Sounds quality is great. The screen is a pretty nice size and looks great. However, not all the apps work like Netflix but that’s not a huge issue. After using it for one day, I can hear a buzzing sound coming from the power cord that’s connected to the computer.

So much promise, so little delivered

So many problems. I hope I can remember them all. First, my cheap cable set top box won’t deliver an HDMI signal that the M8 will accept. Nor does it offer a coax cable input. So, I lost TV support at my bedroom desk. But to top that off Samsung doesn’t support this particular M8 model (I bought the white one), apparently its the international model and the US support team refuses to support it even though I bought it at Amazon.com.The wireless support is OK, but I really expected ethernet support. They sent a link to a support website that is broken,, has no info n the model and the contact us link just sends you in an endless loop and you never see a contact form or chat window,, ever.I added a USB-C Hub, but it is NOT supported. The USB-C hub has 3 USB-A 3.0 ports and 1 ethernet port. You have no option to allow ethernet capabilities anywhere. The 512GB USB3 thumbdrive I added won’t show up in settings, so its unusable. It was hard to setup because the stand seems wonky with a larger gap on one side after screwing it all together. Attaching the display to the stand took a lot of muscle before the catch caught.I am so disappointed, but it keeps getting worse. The picture is awesome, but it only has 2 USB-C ports that don’t support anything I have connected to them, including connecting USB 3 thumbdrives directly to the port through a Samsung USB-C to USB-A adapter. There are only 3 other ports, 1 is for power, 1 is the HDMI. I can no longer use the monitor as my laptop monitor since the last Windows update. My 2018 16GB i5 Dell Inspiron 5577 Gaming laptop no longer detects either the new or old display, but that is a Windows 10 Pro bug, and has nothing to do with this display other than Windows 10 Pro worked with it for a month and now no longer works with it or the display I used it with for 4.5 years. And yes, I did uninstall that last Windows update and even after rebooting several times thereafter, it still won’t detect the old display, so it is a Microsoft issue. But now, after upgrading the monitor I have to get a different cable set-top box and a new computer just to use it as anything but a streaming device. The last port is a proprietary camera port for the cheap included webcam. I am miffed why they would include such a poor resolution cheap Webcam instead of a good one to show off how good the display is. If I were on the other end I would wonder why the guy had such a poor camera and insist he upgrade to newer tech.As I have owned this M8 monitor even longer now, I must report that this thing seems to have caused 2 of my laptops (1 Dell & 1 Mac) and a StarTech Thunderbolt 2 dock to have lost the ability to produce a video signal for an external monitor. It seems that the unit received is sending too much power down the HDMI ARC, at least for my 2018 Dell, my 2015 MacBook Pro and the dock. None of these devices are able to send a reliable video signal to any other external monitor or TV after using them with my M8 for a few weeks, maybe a month each. They would quit working with the M8, and then they would not work with anything else. In the case of the StarTech dock, it seemed to kill the Thunderbolt video first, then the HDMI port. Each time it took a considerable amount of time for the external signal support to fail and so in my hurry to get a signal back in order to produce my art, I did not make the connection at first. Now I have, but I cannot test it further, I can’t afford replacing equipment like this.To top this off, Samsung refused to support the monitor, as I am in the USA and this white model (M8OB) was supposed to be an International version (it came with a US 110-volt plug, though). Samsung support sent me to the support website and the link for support just pointed to itself, there was NO support at all, period.

    Irritatingly Refreshing

I can’t tell whether I hate this monitor or enjoy it.I got mine at a discounted price due to an error I had with the speaker system.Ugh, the cable I got broke for the MICRO HDMI to HDMI from Samsung. Absolutely infuriating and trust me your local retail stores do not carry this cable regularly. So, do yourself a favor and order a back up one in case you need it for the future.I had to connect the camera via an extra USB-C to USB cable to my tower and it works as a regular camera.Negative:I’m not sure if anyone else had this problem, but when I played music through the monitor from my desktop it kept cutting out at random intervals for a split second. Extremely noticeable. When I played anything through my headset I had no problems. When playing TV through the apps on the monitor I had no problems.——————————The quality itself is clear and crisp. Video quality is clear. If you use Virtual Box everything displays as well as your desktop will allow. No lines or patches.I’d recommend this only for people who are not going to rely on the monitor’s speakers and want something aesthetic, clear and crisp. Try to get this on sale because it definitely not worth the price tag. I ended up paying 250 for this after the sale/refund for the speakers which I think is fair.

    Usb-C input Compatibility is poor.

It’s a decent monitor. Great to have smart features as well. Has a remote you can pair then cover the IR led to use without setting off multiple monitors with the same remote. I put black electric tape on the end of my remote after pairing. But that is about where it ends. The HDMI is micro HDMI to HDMI. So if the cable gets messed up, you will have to find an adapter or another cable which Amazon does have. The USB-C input works perfect with the Samsung Dex on most Samsung phones. But that is about where that ends. Will not work with my Nintendo Switch. If your computer doesn’t have a video output for USB-C, adapter after adapter will fail and make it look like an old monitor where you had to adjust the refresh rate with a knob. Hdmi input to usb-c output. They are powered adapters unlike usb-c to hdmi adapters. Constantly says it the device is turned off but plugged in. 3 stars for the poorly functioning USB-C video input.

    Great looking monitor

Purchased at a discount through Amazon warehouse , and I’m a very pleased with it . Aesthetically looks great and is slim. Looks more expensive than it was . The white color and the back design and pedestal look look great .Utilizing the smart features for entertainment features is great , it has access to all the major streaming apps and the included remote makes it easy to navigate and select what you need . The layout is very familiar if you have a Samsung tv, if not it’s easy to get used to quickly . This makes a great monitor and a tv for a bedroom which is where mine is located .The resolution is 4k so watching movies , 4k YouTube videos etc look great . It is an LCD so keep in mind a direct view is the best view if it is off axis the colors will look more washed out . The black levels are decent . The sound quality is ok it’s fairly tinny soundingThe lack of connections on the back is a downer it has a micro hdmi and a usb-c connection so if you add a soundbar would recommend Bluetooth so it won’t take up an input .I use this as the monitor for my Mac mini and the display is great font is easy to read , web pages look sharp . The included webcam is ok but better off buying a better one .I can’t complain overall, got it at a great price , it’s very effective as a media center and desktop monitor for the same price as some 32 inch 4k tv’s . Excellent product .

It’s a “cool” monitor but lacks function

This monitor is beautiful. I liked the look of it and the idea that it had tv built in and I could do PIP mode while I work. However, two things that make this monitor worthless and the reasons I am returning it are poor picture quality and colors. I do graphic design and cannot get the colors right, it’s also very pixelated and just isn’t going to cut it. I’ve searched the internet for ways to make it better and messed around with the settings but my internet search just resulted in learning about others similar experience. The other reason is that I can’t add other apps to the multi view mode, the only options I have are you tube or screen mirroring my iPad or phone, which sort of makes it not as smart in my opinion. I use Hulu for my tv service and I’d rather just be able to add the Hulu app to the setting but I can’t figure it out and others have made the same complaint. If it were a $300-400 monitor, I’d expect some of this, but I’d rather spend the extra $600 on an Apple monitor and sleep better at night about knowing I’m getting the best quality.

I love this monitor. It is so worth the price.

I used to have a 32″ gaming monitor that I used specifically for my PC for gaming. However, I headed the big clunky stand and I wanted it to easily connect to my Macbook for school. I saw this monitor and was a little hesitant because of the price. I have had this monitor for about 2 weeks and I am already in love. It is super easy to set up. I love the pink color. It is so much better than an iMac because of the bigger screen size and light weight. I can easily connect to my PC for gaming without having to disconnect my Macbook. The slim camera has great quality in taking in the picture when I have my MacBook closed. The smart TV option is super easy to navigate. The speakers have a good range and clarity.Only warning I have is that the picture might look a little bit weird when connecting a laptop. I had to mess around a little bit with the color, brightness, contrast, and temperature to get it just right. Overall, I highly recommend this. It saves so much space on my desk now and looks very minimalistic.

Great for multimedia, okay for a monitor

It was quite the complicated set up and the camera never worked out of the box. Going to have to try to work through the tech support to fix that. I expected it to be a little easier. Got it working and now I’m pretty happy with it. Just frustrated that the camera showed up not functional. I expect better from samsung

Great product from seller(dealx) one of the best on here

I believe I would not have done good justice if I didn’t come on here and leave a comment. When consumers leave a comment/ review they are (for the most part) judging you and this seller deserve good justice. I wish them well in their business endeavors and if they keep selling great products to consumers like they sold to me then they shall prevail. 🫡 salute

Love how stylish it looks, screen looks good, speakers sound bad

PROS: design and 4k capabilities and i cannot be happier this monitor, it helped me transition from having an imac to my macbook and gaming set up i wanted. love the fact that it has a remote, i can adjust the height which i coulnt do that with the imac and the camera looks so cool, it even has a cover and you can detach it from the monitor, also comes with cables so you can plub your devices.CONS: Now my complains are that the sound quality is bad, you might want to invest on some nice speakers because i cant stand the audio coming out of this monitor, sounds really flat. i dont understand why the remote has netflix button but doesnt have a shortcut to switch inputs? really bizarre to me. the inputs on the back only have mini hdmi so if you want to plug an usb directly good luck with that

Samsung M8 – Great monitor with crappy webcam

I am using this monitor for almost 3 months now. My usage is completely for work -for coding, browsing, etc. Lets speak about pros and cons:Pros:- Sleek design- Love the 4k resolution – can fit more items into one screen- Connectivity with USB-C and charge laptop along with it- no need of a dock- Simplicity of stand saves a lot of space on the desk- Use as TV, – a great fit for kids’ room monitor to do both gaming and tv with nice rechargeable remote- Decent speakers and mic for workCons:- Crappy web cam – completely useless- Monitor can move up and down and tilt at a very little angle.- Sometimes software has a glitch to connect through USB-C

What can I say, this is a really great monitor

I was looking to buy a monitor that looked like a mac monitor w/o the mac prices. These were pretty much copied by samsung to mimic the mac monitors style, however these monitors are pretty awesome and they have a lot of great features. I love the camera, easy to use, remote control, you can watch TV on it, your tv apps, as well as a game mode. Just awesome. monitor, can’t recommend it enough.

It’s not too bad but it’s not impressive either!

The samsung webcam is not working, speaker sound quality is good and crisp, but the bass and main sound is too weak. picture quality looks washed out, it’s only 30 mhz, not 60 mhz. I have noticed from my 4K security camera that 4K with 30 mhz does not run smoothly. My old HP Envy 32 inch 2015 model 2K monitor runs more smoothly on my PC. You can watch Netflix, Disney over the PC internet. The Samsung monitor is loaded with its own software, however, when I run my PC with Samsung monitor, I have noticed that my pc is slowed down a bit. Those channels are sponsored, and trying to make you to subscribe, it’s all about the money. The overall, it is not too bad not impressive either.

    Samsung Smart Monitor M8

The product is very good and easier to operate than the previous generation M7. It connects to the computer and the mobile phone to project the screen, which is easier and faster. The current generation of M8 bracket is more stable, the up and down and down are smooth and stable. The remote control is lighter than the previous generation, and the white color is more fashionable. Amazon buys only USD389, with freight HKD4,000 is available. It’s a great value.

Looks great but thats about it

The media could not be loaded.

I got this to use as a work monitor with my 16” MacBook Pro and was debating between this, a curved monitor, or an iMac. To be honest, I really ended up purchasing because of the look. I liked that it was sleek, had a large display, and less expensive than a Mac. The smart features were a bonus that I could play around with if I wanted but the look was the deciding factor. What annoys me most is that you’re basically paying for the smart features, but you can’t connect it to your computer without issues and a horrible mouse lag. I changed all the settings on my Mac to try to get it to not lag until I realized it just wasnt possible, so I have to use an HDMI.Another thing that bothers me is that we have a Samsung TV in our living room, they have different remotes but anytime I turn on one the other turns on as well and its a never ending battle to get the other off. This isn’t an issue for everyone but my desk is 15 feet away from the TV and it’s quite annoying.I really like having a large screen for work – I used to have (2) 27” BenQ monitors, but don’t really like the look of the whole dual monitor set up for my living room so I thought 1 larger, sleek monitor would be better. But after using it for a month the super large, flat screen is kind of straining on my eyes. I’m not a huge tech person so I didn’t think about that (or realize it was an issue) until it started bothering me. It is on a nice mount that easily glides up and down but you cant tilt the screen like an average monitor so you’re kind of stuck staring at a big flat screen all day.I will say, I’m able to adjust the volume on my computer using my keyboard or laptop and don’t need to use the remote like others have complained of. Not sure if this is because I use an HDMI or something to do with my computer/keyboard pairing. I have a wireless Apple Keyboard and can adjust the volume on there just fine.At the end of the day, you’re really just paying for the modern look and your average smart features. I blame myself for that since it was my deciding factor. So overall it looks nice and may be nice for someone who had a small space or would use it as a 2in1 TV/monitor but it’s not optimal for someone who works on it 8+ hours a day.

good monitor plays well with IOS

Picture quality and territory is great. I bought this as a monitor because it connects to IOS easily, but the TV part comes on when I turn the monitor on and have to change to workspace. Annoying true as I am not a TV watcher, but I am happy so far with the monitor part. for such a reasonable price compared to the Apple monitor , which I would prefer, dealing with the other is doable.

    Dont buy it

The smart features are not worth the price. Navigating around the Tizen OS is very sluggish. It froze up on me repeatedly. The camera use is limited to Google Meet and staring back at yourself while in the Samsung health app. You cant take a pic or record or do a live stream with it. The apps and downloads are limited to video streaming apps. Office365 is the web browser version and takes a very long time to load and you cannot use the Teams app. The remote control is sluggish. I have to repeatedly click on the buttons to get it to respond. The multiview experience is horrendous. You get two apps in small windows side by side or pic in pic. Switching back and forth is very sluggish. There is a Samsung Watch and health app integration but it is very difficult to set up and use. The smart features are poorly integrated. Buy a regular 32 inch monitor and attach an Amazon FireTV stick to it instead for 30% of what this monitor cost. Im keeping it in hopes of getting the smartwatch, camera and health app integration to work. But even so i feel like i waisted my hard earned money.

The webcam is missing a part Amazon was good enough to try to resolve this, but Samsung was of no help at all. Unless you purchase from them they don’t honor anything. Don’t know that I would purchase another Samsung product in this instance. The monitor is nice, bright, and easy to use. That portion deserves the high rating

    Amazing monitor

I’m super glad I got this monitor. I use it with my MacBook Pro. Well it has a few quirks and I would really just prefer to turn the smart monitor features off, I really can’t complain about how it functions. I have mine set up next to an apple Studio Display, which is actually a bit nicer, but not as large. The difference in quality between the two is noticeable, but it’s not much. If I had it to do over again. I would not buy the Apple Studio Display and instead I would buy two of these.

Jack of all trades…. mediocre as a monitor

The positive first…The popping colors make it great to watch videos, and if you are going to use this M8 mostly as an entertainment device, enjoying its media features, it might make sense if it was cheaper. I bought it discounted on Prime Day and I loved the looks of it.I have no complaints about its functionality, I experienced no problems but, and this is a big BUT… if this is going to be your daily work driver (I work from home), this is not the one, as my eyes were suffering for the lack of clarity, definition, and sharpness I get from a good monitor. One thing that I noticed was that on a dark screen, you could easily see the lack of color uniformity (color bleeds all over) and once you’ve seen it you cannot unsee it.What made me consider buying the M8 was the convenience of having a built-in camera and its aesthetic, but the limited tilt of the monitor itself, renders this useless, as you cannot point it towards whatever you need to, besides that the image is very soft. My 7-year-old HP laptop camera was able to render an image in darker conditions while the M8 did not. On good light conditions, the M8 was better but the lack of tilt and the softness of the video image was disappointing. Construction-wise, to the touch, it feels like cheap plastic and wobbles easily. My advice? Try and see if it is good for you, I experienced no functionality issues, but as a monitor is second-rate, besides that, what decent monitor in 2022 does not have a DP port? A fair price for this one would be $450 ~ $500.I tried it for two weeks and I am returning it now, but again, it works. I experienced no problems as everything works as advertised, but not good enough to use for work as my eyes were suffering.

    Its good but not great.

This monitor is great for a home office. Tons of features and generally doubles as a 4k TV in todays streaming age. Where it falls short is when using it as a PC monitor. There is no DisplayPort interface, and one microHDMI interface. Everything else is USB-C or wireless (which is absolutely terrible) Youll get good picture quality and refresh rates over the HDMI, Slighty worse over USB C. The wireless has a lot of compatibility, you can connect nearly anything to it, but as with the nature of a wireless display, it is extremely impractical to use as a primary display. Lastly for consoles, with exactly one hdmi interface, youre gonna have a bad time with any multi-device environment. This monitor is incompatible with any HDMI swtich.

    Love the big screen

The media could not be loaded.

I think this product is beautiful, the quality of the monitor is amazing. However, there is a color variance, so you will have to change that depending on what kind of computer you use. I pair it with my Mac and it works well. I seen in the video attaching it to the base is kind of hard especially when it doesn’t click all the way to stay flat. You have to click it in to get a little tilt, but I find that when I raise it and get the tilt, it looks good just a little nervous about it falling off but it hasn’t yet so fingers crossed. The camera is good I like that the little camera cover is magnetic so it can just be attached to the back of the camera and you don’t lose it The quality of the camera is OK. I’ll use my logitech instead , I also use it as a TV and watch YouTube Netflix and HBO on this and it’s pretty good with those. I would say as a desk monitor this is probably better than getting it as a regular TV, but if you’re sitting at your desk and wanna watch TV, this is pretty good. The packaging it came in was pretty solid, and to put it together took a while because attaching the monitor to the base was a little hard but other than that I’ve had a lot of fun using it and it’s a great addition to my set up.

Amazing streaming monitor for the money

I’m visually impaired– have difficulty with contrast and wear powerful reading glasses. This is a GREAT montor for picture quality (sharp, saturated colors, etc.). I use it mostly as a monitor for my laptop. If you try to follow the incoherent directions to set it up, it is EXTREMELY difficult as the written directions such as they are are poorly written and the illustrations make no sense. I finally just used common sense and it was very easy to set up and get going.

Still waiting for the problems others complain about!

When this monitor dropped to $349 last month I purchased it. I was skeptical after reading all the negative reviews, and I’m still waiting for any negatives to crop up, but the monitor hasn’t given me a single problem. I tried an LG 27UP600 in late January (the monitor’s panel is the same panel as in the more expensive of the UP series, just with less connectivity). I liked the monitor but wanted something larger so returned it during the return window. When I first received the Samsung, I followed guidelines for monitor setup on rtings, as well as suggestions on reddit, and then I tweaked the settings to my taste. My setup includes an MS Surface Laptop 3, logitech K380 keyboard, MS Arc BT mouse, and JBL bluetooth speakers. The monitor wakes up and displays as a second screen every time my laptop starts up, something that differs from what others complain about. Color accuracy seems pretty good and I see no dead pixels. I know the panel is VA and during severe angle viewing the picture will fade a tiny bit, but I’ve not noticed a problem with 30 degree viewing in either horizontal or vertical axis. The onboard speakers are decent, but weak, so hence my bluetooth JBL speaker use. I was prepared to send this back for the first two weeks of use because, after all the negative reviews, I was sure I wouldn’t like the monitor. But surprise, surprise, it is a GREAT monitor. I haven’t used the smart monitor features, but I did set all the apps up (Netflix, Prime Video, etc…) so if ever I do want to use this thing as a stand-alone media device I can. If the price drops I’d say grab this monitor – it won’t disappoint (unless you are a pixel-peeping purist snob!). One bonus – the version I bought came with a VESA adapter so I can always purchase a VESA stand and attach this monitor later. It is sold with adjustable stand or adjustable stand and VESA adapter. The second configuration is cheaper than the stand alone version…go figure!Edit: I just crossed to the dark side. Yes, I purchased a Mac Mini. I notice a few negative reviews with Mac Mini and this Samsung combos and I thought I’d add to this review with my Mac Mini observations. First, I have absolutely no issues with connection, waking up the monitor, or color accuracy. In fact, this color accuracy seems much better than the tweaks I had to do with my Surface Laptop 3, and that’s out of the box with no tweaks of the Mini. As far as connectivity, I called Samsung support and found that, yes, the camera will NOT connect when you are connected via the HDMI cable but that it will connect when you use the USB to USB interface. I verified that this is correct. As far as connectivity, my monitor wakes up just fine from sleep mode, unless it has been sleeping all night long. Then all I have to do is press the power button on the remote and my Mac login screen is there waiting for me. I suspect that the Mac complaints regarding this monitor are from folks who may not have taken the time to learn their systems and how to integrate them. So far, this monitor is the BOMB! So happy I purchased it.Edit 2: I wasn”t having any luck switching between my Mac mini and my Surface Laptop 3 when I hit upon the built-in KVM switch. Samsung sure goes out of its way to NOT tell anyone about the features of this monitor. Here’s how my system is set up now. HDMI to the Mac mini and a separate usb camera to one of the usb A ports. Yes, I tried HDMI on my Surface Laptop 3 using an HDMI to USB C adapter and just like the Mac, the HDMI does NOT allow the onboard Samsung camera to be used. I just keep the extra camera hanging from the monitor stand in the back and, if ever I need it, all I’ll have to do is reach over the top of the monitor and attach it to the top of the monitor. Well, that takes care of the Mac. The Surface Laptop 3 was easy – just plug in the powered USB cable from the monitor. Then I went into the Samsung monitor menu (click the home button) and renamed each PC icon to Mac and Windows. Now, when I want to switch from my PC to my Mac I just click the home button and click the corresponding icon and, boom, my Mac or PC pops up. Of the two icons, the left icon appears to be the default so if that’s your Mac or your PC you’ll have to remember click right on the remote to get the other PC. I was ready to return this monitor and buy the Gigabyte M32U to get the KVM functionality but thankfully I found this functionality on the Samsung, and saved myself $300!

Great TV for boat if you have inverter

This is a great tv for a boat! It does airplay very nicely and now I don’t need extra apps or frustration when trying to send my pictures from my phone to the tv. It has all my apps and a really good picture, too. We thought 1080p was decent, but wow, it’s hi def viewing now. Cooking shows look great! Ha! The picture quality is great, the remote is easy enough to use. It can function with a computer so a great multifunction device. I hope it lasts.

Great Modern PC Monitor that functions as a TV as well – Great Price for what it offers

I bought the new 2023 Samsung M80C Monitor 32-inch version after seeing it on an Amazon Early Black Friday Sale for $400.This is a great value monitor for the price, which is excellent for multi-tasking and functions both as a PC and TV, is capable of 4K, and reaches fairly bright levels with 400 cd/m2 nits of brightness that get realized once you change the picture settings to the dynamic & entertain mode.I was originally in the market for the 27-inch monitor, but surprisingly, that smaller version was $250 more expensive than the 32 inch one and went with this one instead solely because of the price. The TV has built-in Samsung Tizen OS and it works surprisingly really well and it is fairly snappy and responsive. If you have Samsung Appliances in your kitchen like I do, the Samsung SmartThings application will give you neat notifications when your dishwasher or microwave is finished washing or cooking. If you’re invested in the Samsung Smart “Ecosystem”, this is a particularly great buy. It’s pretty cool and future tech/smart house oriented. The Built-In Microsoft 365 platform is definitely gimmicky as it’s super slow and virtually unworkable but the Streaming TV apps like Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney, Paramount, Apple TV etc. work fine and great. Apple Airplay 2 also works great with negligible latency on my Wi-Fi Network. My only “negative” nitpicks is that I wish this had a 120hz refresh rate for further future-proofing but it’s really not that noticeable when you’re doing everyday productivity tasks like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and E-Mail. Another downside is that the SlimFit Camera works fine (when it works) but sometimes you have to detach the magnetic holder for a second and reattach it so that it shows up on your PC’s options for Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, or WhatsApp calls etc. The Camera’s implementation could have been a little better….I will say it’s workable but can be a minor nuisance. Do I think it’s the worst thing in the world as some comments have? No, the negativity is overblown. The quality of camera is decent as far webcameras go per visuals and microphone quality, don’t expect anything out of this world. It’s neither bad or good. Finally, the Built-In speakers are blah. They get the job done in a pinch but I’ll probably supplement them with something robust down the road. Please note that there is no 3.5 mm audio jack on the monitor so “traditional” external PC speakers won’t work.Back to some Positives:It also has built-in 65W USB-C charging for a laptop, so that’s very convenient! There is a total of 1 HDMI Port, 2 USB-A Ports, and 1 USB-C Port built-in the monitor’s rear. The 2 USB-A Ports become “hubs” for your PC if you’re connected via USB-C.The design itself is super clean and modern, usually you pay a serious premium for a design like this in a monitor so kudos to Samsung for making this middle-class attainable lol. For what it is, what it does, and its price, it’s definitely a win and keeper for me. It’s a unique product in a world of run-of-the-mill standard PC monitors!Update After 2 Weeks:The USB-C Port on the monitor’s rear can carry both charging *and* video signal which means that if you’re connecting via USB-C, you do not need to use the HDMI port for visuals. Additionally, the USB-C cable supplied with the box is surprisingly speedily robust even though it’s not “Thunderbolt 3 or 4” certified. I’m using it with a 13th Generation Intel i5 Laptop and 10th generation Apple iPad and it’s working fantastic.***Majorly Important***Finally, the Monitor also works really well and seamlessly with Samsung TV Soundbars from 2022 and 2023.The HDMI port on the monitor is an HDMI-ARC capable port even though it isn’t specifically labeled as such (which is a huge, huge, huge oversight on Samsung’s Part) – this wasn’t written anywhere in the manual or any documents I could find online on their website so imagine my pleasant surprise when I took the chance to hook up a Soundbar I bought during Black Friday 2023 via the monitor’s rear HDMI port and connected to the HDMI-ARC opening port on a Samsung S61B Soundbar to find that that soundbar worked and integrated right away with the monitor’s Tizen system and remote. The S61B soundbar is white and lays virtually flush on the bottom of the bottom of the monitor’s stand. This is one major positive of getting your external speakers from Samsung versus other brands. If you hate the built-in sound of the monitor and your HDMI port connection is free, I would highly recommend pairing this monitor with the Samsung S61B Soundbar. The Monitor’s Sound is now really fantastic especially for apps like YouTube for Music, Movies, Podcasts, etc.

SMART TV = Great TV – very poor computer monitor

Did you ever hook-up your flat screen TV to your laptop – maybe with an HDMI cable? The results are almost always horrible – the cursor hesitates, the resolutions are hard to manage, the refresh rate changes, and the images are washed out.Note: I did not use the USB-C connection because my older computer doesn’t have one. Other uses may have a better technical results, but I still think it is unstable as a monitor…That is exactly the experience you can expect from this Smart TV that has been recommended as a monitor. It was never made to be a computer monitor. keep shopping. This device was recommended for use on a 2013 Mac Pro computer, by some idiot at MacWorld in England. I tried Thunderbolt 2 and 3 connections to the USB-C port, but those connection was not recognize. An HTMI connection is really only suitable for “mirroring” a computer.Older computers with Firewire or Thunderbolt 2 or 3 can’t use this monitor – there are not wires or converters. Calling Customer Support was useless – they just read stuff to you. My real gripe with Samsung is that their user manual and customer support could not tell me anything about connecting a second (extended) monitor to an older computer with HDMI. They should have just said “not recommended” or “not ideal”.The only possible way to use it with an older computer or game station is with the mini-HDMI port and that’s poor. The refresh rate is so slow that it won’t be much fun. This is an interesting stand alone Smart TV. It has all the apps and loves to jump into YouTube or Netflix, seeming on it’s own. If fact, when my computer goes to sleep, it doesn’t !Sometimes, when it wakes up, the screen does jumbled up screen test patterns for a minute or so and my other monitor goes nuts waiting for it to settle down. it works, but it is clearly NOT a computer monitor. However, with the HDMI input, I could only get the computer to run it at a low resolution and 30 Hz. Even so, there is a very noticeable delay in the cursor movement. The monitor appears to be a 3rd generation of the M80 series, which has noticeable improvements over the previous versions (fewer I/O ports, fixes for the stand and newer firmware). It is a lightweight monitor with VESA mount and a detachable video camera (fixed angel, normal lens that is no wide angle, but color rendering is poor). Sound is very poor and weak, microphone is excellent. The unit is very average overall – the screen is hard to see from any angle other than straight on (Polarized screen cover, I suspect). It is great for a bright room, but has an eire and distracting white cast / glow in a darkened room.It is rated at 60 Hz, which isn’t very fast for video and gaming. But, connected with my HDMI cable, it only ran at 30 Hz, hence the hesitation and slow I/O.The worst feature is that the monitor has to be powered off and on again when the computer shutdown. Its default mode is as smart TV, so it stats up with videos and apps, not the computer screen.Documentation is not on the Samsung web site, as of this writing (Oct 2023). The closest model they have manuals and support are for the M801C model. I find that lacking support on-line to be unforgivable. It’s going back.Samsung Customer Support is worse than an AI Chat. Not a feature.I think this thing might be fun for some kids in an RV or in their game room.

Crisp vibrant picture and feature rich smart monitor

Bought two of these when I bought a Mac Studio and I have zero regrets. It is connected to the Mac through the USB C port and works like a charm.I use these daily as computer monitors for basic computing, use them after work for gaming and streaming movies and TV as well and we use them as we edit videos and pictures. The colors are crisp, true, and vibrant.I let them go into hibernation when I lock my screen when I am done working on the computer and they are then instant on with just a touch of the mouse or keyboard.I don’t like the built-in speakers but of course I had no expectation to like them. I did expect to like the add on webcam but not so much, i just use my iPhone and have tossed those in a drawer. The SmartTV features are solid and work as expected, we use it daily for that as well.I have tried the remote connection to another computer right from the SmartMonitor, it works but isn’t something I would use a ton.I do want to try gaming on it but I am still exploring the gaming on the Mac Studio to really get into that part yet.Overall I think this is a great value and would definitely recommend it.

Got this monitor for working from home and it’s great because it works with PC and Mac! The picture quality is honestly amazing. I love that I can use this for work, but also as a smart tv, and for gaming. It’s also SUPER thin. Love the aesthetic and functionality.

    Good but needs improvement

Samsung monitorI live in a small 250sqft studio so space is tight. I got this to b used both as a tv for my apple tv and xbox one s and also as an external monitor for graphic design work on my iPad pro(i dont have a computer). I have it mounted on a vesa gas spring arm mount on my desk. Main reason i got this was bc it had both thunderbolt usb c and HDMI ports, was thin and lightweight, was hoping to not have to replace apple tv with a new one when it dies, and monitor wasn’t crazy expensive(i caught it on sale for $450 before taxes).Overall it does the things i need it to do just in a clunky kind of way and not at all as smooth and seamless as i was expecting(coming from Apple ecosystem). I got the white vesa one which has a regular price of $650. That seems overpriced given how many cons it have. I wouldn’t pay that much for it. I caught it on sale tho. I wouldn’t recommend buying this unless u catch it on sale below $500 at least(seen it go as low as $400 after i bought it)Pros* Thin and lightweight* Usb c thunderbolt port works great* Came with easy to use vesa mount adapter(i’ve never used vesa or gas spring mounts before).* Cloud gaming apps available. They suck so far really but i’m sure they’ll improve in the future. Xbox cloud gaming is the only cloud gaming app the monitor has that’s any good rn even tho its still beta. I prefer to play xbox games on my actual xbox when sitting at desk or use xbox cloud gaming on iPad when relaxing away from desk but it’s cool the monitor offers the xbox xloud gaming app at least. Looking forward to seeing how all the cloud gaming apps improve. Maybe NVIDIA and Luna will become decent eventually too.Neutrals* The default picture did look a slightly washed out when i first turned on monitor but after messing with picture settings for a while it looks fine now.* When first unboxed it i was disappointed the bezel around monitor wasn’t thinner but it turned out to work better with bigger bezel size for holding edge to move monitor around(i have monitor in normal desk position when sitting at desk working on iPad and monitor and then pull monitor out and turn it to face bed when i’m relaxing on bed watching tv or gaming).Cons* Remote is stupid. Monitor clearly has bluetooth capability yet for some dumb reason it has a super cheap remote with only old fashioned line of sight IR?? Y????The junky remote seems like it cost them $2 to make. Also the remote design is super unintuitive but i barely use it anymore(i can power on and off both apple tv and monitor at same time using remote feature on my iphone). Can’t control monitor using bluetooth remote feature on my iPhone either.* Really not a fan of the retro giant power block but i solved that problem my using command strips to stick the block to the back of the monitor right above the vesa mount so i don’t have to deal with it. They should’ve made the monitor slightly thicker around the middle so they could ditch the giant brick.* Samsung TV Plus app. The whole thing. I hate it. U can’t delete it. The monitor seems to default to the Samsung TV Plus sometimes when turn the monitor on. It still recommends movies and shows on Samsung TV Plus despite me changing the preferences at very bottom of media tab to not recommend anything from it. I dont watch much tv and when i do i mostly stick to a paid streaming service. When i do watch free tv(mostly for my cats when I’m away from home lol), I prefer Pluto or occasionally Freevee or Tubi.* The UI is horrible. The whole thing is unintuitive and the media content recommendations r uncustomizable(u can only change basic preferences which it seems to ignore anyways). I had to use my streaming apps directly in the media tab on monitor for about a week until i was able to get around to hooking up my Apple TV to it. Now i use my Apple tv instead and barely use the samsung smart features. Would b nice if i could keep it from showing recommendations for things on Samsung tv plus or fox news. And only show things from services/apps i use or genres i like(don’t wanna see any sports or news).* Lack of ports. Seriously annoying. It only has 1 HDMI port and it’s a micro HDMI. I have to hook up both xbox one and apple tv to monitor by HDMI(neither can use a HDMI to usb c cable) so i had to buy an HDMI switch so my apple tv and xbox could share the micro HDMI port. Also bc there only one HDMI port but 2 inputs share it, i had to manually name the source “apple tv/xbox” bc it wouldn’t switch names when i used my HDMI switch. U couldn’t add at least 1 more HDMI port at least? Really??* Tuner. Not so much a con but u could improve this product by including a tuner i guess. I assume some people would prefer to get free tv over the air instead of by app. It’s a cheap improvement u could make.

    It’s ok as a tv

So I’m going to start this off by saying this. It’s an OK TV. However, as a computer screen, I’m having some issues. Here are the pros and cons:Pros: first of all, this is a good TV at a decent price. There is a lot of things already installed on it that you use every day when watching TV. Not only that, but I have been a Sony TV person for so long, I didn’t realize that Samsung actually had their own channels of free TV that was actually pretty mind blowing. I sat here with my kid and watched several channels worth of TV shows that are just nonstop streaming. That was very enjoyable for both of us. Another thing is the TV that I got comes with a computer stand. It goes up and down with ease, and I am able to tilt the screen so that it is straight. Also, the remote is very easy to use. I like the sleek design of it and how small it is. But that pro is also a con. I’ve already lost it lol! There are speakers on the TV. For every day TV watching, they are clear and they can get fairly loud. Even for someone like me that has a little bit of hearing problems, I was able to hear the dialogue in the music from the TV quite well. Don’t expect any type of bass. As thin as this TV is, I was fairly surprised at how loud the TV got. But any explosions or music is going to sound very flat.Con: So here is where I start to rag on this thing. There are two USB-C ports in the back and a mini HDMI . Included with your TV is a mini HDMI to HDMI cord. However, I feel they should’ve put at least one HDMI or even display port on the back for every day users to be able to use whatever cord they wanted. The cord is not very long. Approximately 5 feet. Anything further away than that, you’re gonna have to go out and find your own mini HDMI to HDMI cord, or if there is some sort of adapter.Next, for as much as this is a decent TV, I am still struggling with this as a computer monitor. I am replacing a thunderbolt series 4K Apple display with this TV. The thunderbolt display is 4K at 60 Hz just like this TV/monitor. The clarity from a monitor that is several years old switching over to this TV is very disappointing. I want to use this panel for a multitude of things on my M1 max MacBook. Once you start getting to the finer pixels and shrinking your text down, smaller things become very difficult to read. Not because the letters are small, but because it’s just the screen is not good enough. I don’t know what type of panel this is, but it’s decent for the price point that I got it of $398, but I can also see why these dropped in price so quickly. Good tv. Blah computer monitor.Another complaint I have is there is no way to plug-in 1/8” to be able to run any type of audio from the TV to whatever I want. Everything has to be done in Bluetooth. I had to actually go and buy a Bluetooth receiver so that I could hook up this TV to my speakers.Unless you are a Samsung, regular user, navigating the TV was a little bit of a pain. I feel that I am kind of a tech savvy person, and it took me quite a while for me to figure out where everything was and the options. Maybe it’s just because I’m switching over to a different type of operating system? But I felt it was a little bit more difficult to be able to get the things that I wanted to do what they wanted then it should’ve been. And that’s honestly all I can think of. It’s decent for what it is and I won’t return it because I want the computer monitor and I want my kid and my girlfriend to be able to watch TV down here while I’m doing other things. I’ll keep it, but I’m not happy about it.

It could have been great but some major design flaws make it almost unusable

I have used this monitor with a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air.The good:I like the appearance of the monitor, especially the white bezel and stand. I like the idea of having a monitor that also functions as a smart TV. I also like that it has an integrated webcam with a magnetic privacy cover. It’s large. For my purposes (not a gamer or video editor) the picture quality is fine. The bad:Quality ControlThe first TV arrived and the screen would not click into the stand. The customer service representative (CSR) at Samsung was nice, but had a very hard time understanding the problem. I’m pretty handy, and I could not get it to snap in place. I had a friend who is very handy also try to put it together before I gave up and returned it to Amazon. I actually purchased my replacement from a big box retailer (and I honestly don’t remember why I did that). Thankfully, the second monitor snapped together correctly.Webcam Design FlawI was really excited about the streamlined design with the integrated camera. Unfortunately, the camera does NOT tilt down. You can tilt it up, but not down. It points straight ahead. Even when the screen is at its lowest setting, the top of the monitor is 18 inches off of the desk. The top of my head is also about 18 inches above the desk. So the camera shows just the top few inches of my head — hair and forehead — and nothing else. It’s basically worthless to me. I had to buy a peripheral webcam to use with this monitor. Maybe this is only an issue for people who are short? It’s too bad that they didn’t make the camera sit a little higher and didn’t give it room to tilt down.Software, Connection to Computer and RemoteThis is really the biggest issue. The software for connecting the computer to the monitor is very confusing for Mac. The menu makes it easy to find an option for mirroring your laptop or using a remote login that requires special set up. For me, the mirroring option caused a lot of lag between mouse and keyboard use and on screen responses. Also, the picture quality degraded. You need to use a completely different menu to just use plug and play. (Perhaps if I had figured out the remote set up, it would have worked more seamlessly.) Essentially there are three different options for connecting a Mac, and they are in two different places in the menu. It is not obvious from the interface what each one does. And I didn’t find it easy to find documentation. I found a random web article that explained how to set up the plug and play option (not official Samsung documentation). You would think that once I finally had the mac/monitor connection set up that everything would be fine. However, this is not the case. Whenever I unplug the laptop or restart the laptop, I lose the connection. Sometimes I can simply use the remote to reset the connection, although this is a bit of a pain. Sometimes the remote loses its connection to the monitor, so I cannot reset the connection. At one point I even requested a new remote from Samsung. (They did provide one free of charge without a hassle.) Sometimes the computer will connect with the monitor but will immediately disconnect if I close the laptop cover. This makes it impossible to leverage a vertical stand to save desk space.Every time I have to restart my computer or I need to take it with me I worry that i won’t be able to pair the machines again. I spent at least 20 minutes today trying to reconnect my monitor. At first the remote would not connect to the home screen (but it worked for volume???).I like having products that just work. I am seriously considering going back to my previous monitor that is smaller.Maybe the remote login is the answer, but it really shouldn’t be this difficult to connect the laptop using a wired solution.Erin Lawrence on YouTube seems to agree with my points, but she’s more favorable overall. If they could redesign the software and fix the webcam, it would be an amazing monitor.

    Honest review

This is big screen and when I connect my window laptop the picture quality or clarity or sharpness like Dell monitors is missing. But Netflix and other channels picture quality is fantastic. But i was looking for the feel like the dell curve monitor picture quality which is missing 😭.if you plan to buy for work with window laptop don’t go for it.. Macbook is fine you will feel good..And don’t have more apps to add. Like teams and other useful one so it is really not function as computer as standalone…

    Good for the price

The Samsung monitor offers impressive picture quality that brings visuals to life with vibrant colors and sharp details. Its competitive price point adds to its appeal, making it an attractive choice for those seeking a budget-friendly option without compromising visual experience. However, there seems to be a noticeable lag between my MacBook’s mouse and the monitor, which hinders smooth workflow. Additionally, I am experiencing difficulties in getting the camera to function while using applications like Zoom, Facetime, or QuickTime player, despite it working seamlessly otherwise. Despite these setbacks, the monitor’s picture quality and affordability remain standout features, though addressing the compatibility issues with certain software or troubleshooting instructions could greatly enhance its overall usability.

For the price this monitor is well worth it.

Nice looking monitor, works great so far – not as sturdy, or well built as an Apple monitor but the price difference was hard to ignore. $349 (sale price at time of writing) vs $1599 to $2000 (depending on stand or VESA) for each Mac Studio display. Well, I was unwilling to invest almost $3800 for the height adjustment stand and VESA equipped Mac Studio displays. Under $800 for 2 of these and a single arm VESA mount….can’t be beat, and saving $3k would make anyone smile. There are plenty of reviews, pro’s and con’s for this monitor, but at the price point ($349) it is well worth it for the aesthetically pleasing look you can achieve.Update: After a bit of use I found the Tizen OS a little clunky and the biggest letdown is that you cannot easily switch from TV/monitor with one-button operations. You have to go through the menu and it takes a bit of work, but you can always use voice control and it will switch back and forth (a little easier). So far I have noticed high native contrast for pretty deep blacks, as well as great peak brightness. With the VG panel, you do have narrow viewing angles, but the 4k screen does make up for the immersive experience. This is not the monitor if you plan on editing photos or video, but it will work well for general, office and media use. I still feel it is worth the price point I paid.

Decent monitor for the price – horrible Samsung bloatware, crappy speaker, not enough ports

Monitor is ok for the price. Looks decent, picture is pretty good. Arrived with damage to a small area of screen so have about 5 dead pixels in a row, didn’t see till too late and it’s such a hassle to return this stuff decided to just live with it. But the bloatware – i just want to plug in my stuff and use it, but Samsung won’t have any of that – they want to deliver ads, they have a bunch of apps preloaded that are impossible to get rid of, you can’t decide where to put what icons so you have to scroll through their stuff every time i want to switch inputs. Overall, it’s fine. I’m not returning it, but i’m not buying another Samsung, i’ll spend the money to get something nicer next time.

Massive screen equipped with really nice display

Definitely a screen for entertainment and office work combined. The screen I mainly use before this monitor arrived was my Asus TUF laptop’s monitor and the colors look better on the M8. I tried playing games on it and it’s not too bad even if it’s just 60hz. Just don’t expect much as this isn’t gaming monitor.I love the variety of color to choose from for the monitor too as I’ve been wishing there would be more light/pastel colors for electronics such as monitors, TVs, laptops, etc.Sound quality isn’t too bad just like any regular stock speakers that come with TVs built-in.The remote that comes with it is also rechargeable instead of being powered by disposable batteries, making it less harmful for the environment.I’m still trying to figure out if I could somehow use the camera that comes with it for other purposes other than online work meetings but from the quick research I’ve done so far, it seems like it won’t be possible at the moment, which isn’t too much of a problem for me since I prefer using webcams built for streaming.Overall, so far everything seems to be what it is advertised for and I’m happy and content with my new monitor; but if the M8 would do a bit more upgrades such as making the refresh rate higher than 60hz, making it appeal to gamers and making it jack of all trades, I think it would be a hit and the price would make it very well worth it!

This monitor has limitations with usb-c

There is 1 micro HDMI 2.0 port that does HDR10 and 4K. Get a switching HDMI adapter, and then run the connect the hdmi cable from that to the monitor micro-hdmi port. I can now have 3 HDMI inputs all running at 4K.And there is 1 middle usb-c port for driving the display but not HDR10. I had to make sure to use the usb-c cable that shipped with the monitor to see 4K from my M1 MacBook. I’ve read that the usb-c is only 8-bit, and so no HDR10 support is possible. But it is one connection supplying 65W of power and 4K output. The last usb-c port is for keyboard/mouse sharing only. If you see a max 1080p extended display with a lot of lag, then that is running a WiFi based screen sharing that is mostly unusable.I like having even not-so-great speakers, and the viewing angle hasn’t seemed bad to me. The stand and bezels are nice and out of the way. And the price is great at $400 on sale. The one thing that Samsung does not mention is that you can turn on HDR in Windows and on the monitor, but if you don’t set the refresh rate to a sluggish 30Hz, then HDR10 is disabled. I’m not sure what the value is of 4K @ 8-bit @ 60Hz vs. 4K @ 10-bit @ 30Hz. But that is a big disappointment.

Great overall product, good quality and design

I’m really enjoying the quality of this monitor which I use with my 2023 Macbook Air. The two only negative feedback I have are: The volume is not controlled by the mac keyboard, just the remote. And more importantly, the camera is just very low quality. it’s a bit of a wider angle than a standard camera on a laptop, so you have to be very close to fill the screen…. which is hard to do when you’re in front of a 32″ monitor.

    Nice monitor – disappointing camera

I purchased this for use with a Mac. It is a beautiful monitor. Setup was a bit rough, but afterwards, it has a very nice screen. But part of my usage is with Zoom and I have to say that the camera is very disappointing, a very mediocre camera. It is likely that I will be using a different camera. In many ways this competes with the much more expensive Apple 27 inch monitor, but the camera is just not there.

Fantastic device that blends the functionality of a monitor and a smart TV seamlessly

An excellent choice for those who demand a high-quality monitor that can also serve as a smart TV. Its stunning display, versatile features, and seamless Mac compatibility make it a worthwhile investment for both work and entertainment

    Only one flaw

Love this monitor. The screen is great, the software is great, the speakers and mic are great, but it has one flaw. The camera’s quality is also great, but it’s tilt ability makes it almost unusable. When clipped to the top of the monitor, it’s unable to bend down beyond a couple of degrees. For a monitor this large, that means you’re framed basically from the chin up unless you tilt the whole monitor down to better face you. The camera needs to be mounted another half inch higher to properly frame you, but you’re not able to mount it any higher due to the way it connects. Not a deal breaker for me, but a big disappointment.

Bought it to be a Mac monitor. It has all that extra smart stuff which is a bonus to some(one else)

I bought this because it kept showing up on best Mac monitor lists, even though it kind of feels like a smart TV being used as a monitor. As far as I can tell, it is a 4K screen. The colors look good, and for business purposes, it seems pretty great. I can’t speak to its operation as a gaming monitor. It doesn’t seem like it would be fast enough but thankfully I’m not trying to use it for that. I did cast my phone to it and it worked like a smart TV popping up my phone screen onto it and that could be useful sometimes I guess. So all in all I like the monitor.

    Terrible software and speakers!

I chose this monitor hoping for a clean setup, turns out to be more trouble than its worth. The software is a mess, just changing inputs takes way too many button presses. Lots of bloatware you can’t uninstall. There are only two inputs, yet it is hard to distinguish since both are labeled as “PC”. You can change the label, but it’ll revert back to “PC” every time you disconnect the cable. Fails to connect to Macbook via usb-c half of the time. When it finally connects, it will lose connection after a random period. HDMI connection causes monitor to constantly wake up randomly despite not receiving a signal. Speakers are terrible and you will need to manually connect to Bluetooth speakers every time you use it. Picture quality is slightly blurred due to anti glare coating, and the colors are undersaturated with the exception of red which is oversaturated. Terrible product.

    30Hz MacBook Warning

For anyone having USB-C 30hz refresh rate issues on a MacBook Pro (16″ 2021) with Samsung’s M80b monitor/tv and would like to get 60hz, do the following:The CableTo ensure you have a high-quality USB-C cable capable of carrying the signal, use the camera’s USB-C cable that came with the monitor for this guide.Reset the USB-C HandshakeUnplug the power adapter on the back of the monitorUnplug the USB-C Cable from the Monitor and MacBookTurn off your MacBookWait 45 secsPlug the power adapter back into the monitorTurn on your MacBook and loginConnect the USB-C cable to the monitor’s far left USB-C port (if you look at the back panel) – the middle port will not deliver video.Plug the USB-C cable into your MacBookMAC OS SetupClick the Apple LogoClick “System Settings”Click “Displays”Click “SAMSUNG”Select “60hz” as the refresh rateThe display name should read “SAMSUNG”If the display name is “Samsung M80B”, you’ve connected via AirPlay which only supports a laggy connection causing the mouse to be delayed. You probably did not connect the USB-C cable to the correct port, or the cable you used is incapable of handling video. The monitor is great, but I really wish it was capable of 120hz, and it had another thunderbolt port. The auto-switch input feature doesn’t work between the mini-HDMI and USB-C connections, so station your remote nearby if you have a desktop and laptop. My monitor doesn’t recognize when the camera is connected, but it works when connected directly to my PC or MacBook.

Great picture and easy to physically set it up!

The instructions for the mounts were clear and easy to assemble. Trying to set up the camera, and the “Smart” features, I still have not set up. The Monitor did not come with instructions except for the stand. I have tried searching the Internet, on the Samsung site, and have not found anyway to contact Samsung for questions, or to locate a instruction pamphlet. I kept going around and around, getting very frustrated. Please let me know how to get a hold of instructions online so I can use all of the features of the TV. If I have that, then, it would have been 5 stars!

    Garbage monitor

Anyone using this and giving a 5 star is probably only using for CNN. This is a horrible monitor. It’s advertised as having an outstanding picture with smart calibration features. The smart things app is poorly built and is designed for intrusiveness while lacking any features and being buggy as can be.I have tried all my new Macs and this thing looks washed out and terrible with every single Mac – MacBook Air, Mac Minic Pros, Mac Studio you name it.HDMi does look better than USBc for some unknown reason. Looks like the Mac’s and the monitor just don’t work together.M8 seems to think Apple users will use the AirPlay display which is garbage. You might AirPlay a movie but you aren’t going to use AirPlay as a monitor setup it lags terrible and I have Eero Pro 6E setup.I could go on and I’m not anti Samsung I was an engineer at their North American R&D center.Samsung has had a problem since about 2015 of hiring low wage workers overseas putting them on a project like Smart Things. Get it out the door and then scale back and do just enough to market it while not actually offering what they market. This TV (not a monitor) is nothing more than an overpriced 32 inch 4k tv. If you need a tv buy a tv rhis thing is AWFUL. Because I ordered on Amazon it was too much of a pain to return and the price was only 399 so not nearly as bad as the poor folks paying 499 or more for this junk.

Almost Great but sadly a Fail

So many aesthetic choices make this a very attractive item for a designer / creative. But like so many Samsung products, it’s just a disaster in execution.I watched a ton of reviews before purchasing and thought that I understood the core pitfalls but here’s why I’m returning it.1. Major delay when using graphic / drawing programs connected to a Mac via the usb c / thunderbolt port.2. Apps just go black for no reason3. Very low lighting / brightness. Terrible for a bright room during the day.As a TV, this could almost get a pass of the apps worked and it didn’t constantly flip to Samsung shows. Also very hard to connect to other devices. Who setup was wonky.Should have listened to the negative reviews. Giant waste of time. You get what you pay for.Apple invests in tech that makes sense and works well. Pay the extra money and do it right.
