So far, so good!
A no brainer! A great 4k viewing experience at a great value, Plus, for me (keeping my fingers crossed) it continues to play 4k UHD discs without freezing up. I bought a different Panasonic 4K UHD player earlier this year and have the same results. These players replaced my existing 4k UHD players (Sony). Proof in the pudding; a lot of my 4K discs froze in the same place on the Sony players. I tried everything to try and fix this problem to no avail. My last option was to change to Panasonic. Their reviews showed the least issues with freezing. Those freezing problems on those discs no longer exist with the Panasonic players! And the upscaling of DVD’s and Blu-rays is better too.

Requires an internet connection to update firmware
This works well and my parents can figure it out so that’s all I needed. The remove control is VERY small with tiny print which isn’t great for older folks. I wonder if a bigger universal remote control could work with this unit, but haven’t tried it yet. The on-screen menu also has pretty small text too. So if you have impaired vision it might be a struggle. It does require a firmware update out of the box and has an Ethernet port on the back, so be prepared for that. But after that you can leave it offline forever. Once I set it up initially they haven’t had any problems with it.

What’s not to love?
This is a great value for a terrific product. It made a major upgrade in sound and image quality for all of my older Blu Ray dvds as well. I have a 5.1 surround sound system and it elevated clarity for all of my dvds and cds. Simple to set up. Love it.

Noisy
Given the amount of money spent you’d expect everything to work effortlessly and QUIETLY. The disc tray is noisy, which on its own would be fine, however the reader (part with laser including the motor to move said laser) is very noisy when switching between chapters. The noise is quieter once you get into the movie itself, but if you skip chapters or fast forward its very noticeable.

Great 4k and Latest Atmos & DTS Support
Excellent player very pleased with video fidelity. Be sure to read the manual online to apply the correct settings for Dolby Atmos and DTS to maximize the audio landscape if you have a compatible speaker setup. Superb addition to my mid-range home theatre for sterling audio and 4k video playback. Good price for the overall feature set.

User Friendly Starter Blu Ray Player
This is the first blu ray player I had the pleasure to own. It is very beginner friendly and does the job at an affordable price. I recently bought some 4k UHD blu rays and wanted to get the full experience. Glad I did because the picture quality is beautiful. One caveat is that it does not come with a 4k HDMI cable you will have to purchase it separately. Otherwise, you just plug it in and it runs. Also cool that the controller for my Amazon 4k television automatically works for the player.

Works like a DVD player should.
I like the smaller size and the picture quality is great on a 4K screen. Not a fan of the start-up time (just a little long) but I probably need more patience in my life anyway. 🙂 Recommended.

Works well but…..
Ordered this because I’ve always liked panasonic products. When I unboxed I noticed right off the build quality is really cheap compared to other panasonic players I have seen. Remote is small and basic. Plays really well and picture and sound are great, just can’t get past how cheap the player is built. I almost thought it was a fake panasonic product of china….I give 3 stars for build quality and performance average.

Excellent 4K Player
Hook up was a breeze! Wish it had included an HDMI cord. With that being said, the picture is beautiful and getting 4K with HDR10+ at this price point is pretty amazing. A lot of players with less bells and whistles are double the price. If a high quality HDMI cord had been included this would easily be a 5 star product!

This will do
We had an old Blu-ray player that has been threatening to die for a while. I picked this up thinking it would be a step up based on the time between purchases. That isn’t really the case. Although this is slim and sleek looking, and the setup was fairly simple, the interface is a bit on the clunky side, and is not “smart” in any way but we use our tv or roku for that so I guess it’s not necessary. The box is fairly empty. I HATE the cheap remote but it won’t recognize our universal remote so I guess that will need upgraded.

Bare bones. Limited output connections. You can do better at this price with something else.
I like Panasonic products. I think they have excellent quality control. That applies here as well. The picture and sound quality across HDMI were breathtaking and pleasing to the ear respectively. However, this unit lacks many features you can get in other players at this price point. First, this unit lacks any options for audio out other than HDMI. If your high-end stereo is a bit older and only supports RCA or optical inputs you won’t be able to connect this unit. The quantity of online apps offered is surprisingly small (no Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon prime). The included remote is a bit toy-like. This will get the basic job done, but if you want more than basic or simply want more for your money get a different UHD/4K player.

Great Blu-Ray DVD player
First, the Blu Ray player in my picture is NOT the new player being reviewed. There is a reason I post that old player. So this new player is about half the size but twice the resolution. It does not have all the connections on the back that this older Panasonic Blu Ray player has either but that’s fine since I never used all of those things. The picture quality on this new Blu Ray is superb, and I really like it a lot.But here is the kicker, the old Panasonic as a nicer unit has the much nicer remote. Look at the differences between the remotes and you can see that the remote for the older player has many more features than the new player. And the old remote actually WORKS with the new player. Not only does it work, but all the feature buttons actually bring up menus. Some of them never came up on the old Blu Ray player but on this new player, they do. I found this by accident but I’m stoked that the new player works so well with the old remote and all the features work too. Which of course begs the question, why did they include a small featureless remote with this player? I don’t know. But it’s a nice player and now much nicer with the other remote.

Not impressed for the price – the picture is great but for the price its not worth it
I don’t get it really, the next “model” up is only 20 USD more and you get so much more like wifi, which this doesn’t have, nor do you have any audio optical outputs its just HDMI to the TV (or if you have a more elaborate set up perhaps something else) and your done. My guess is that this is suppose to be an entry level player but the price just doesn’t justify it really and I’d say unless you can grab it around 130USD its not really worth it at this price when the next model up in the line up is only 20 USD.

This player loads and plays discs quickly, and has a nice remote with plenty of functionality.4K HDR output over HDMI works as expected, if your equipment supports it.Good working product from a well-known brand, perhaps a big high on the price scale.

Easy to setup. Need to have HDMI cable as it doesn’t come with one. Has remote with batteries. Picture is really good. Your basic blu ray player. As most players these days only has 2 buttons on the actual player so will need to keep up with the remote. Which is smaller but not too small you would lose easily.

Good 4k Panasonic Blu ray player
This Panasonic 4k Blu ray player is a simple unit that plays all types of digital media whether it be dvd, Blu ray, 4k Blu ray, or video files on an external drive. This player isn’t one that has tons of bells and whistles; for me this is the type of device that I like the best because it’s not complicated and it just works. This player is super easy to hook up; connect the HDMI cable and give it some power and it’s ready to go. I was now able to play a 4k movie that was part of a combo set that included a standard Blu ray disk. The output is good and crisp. This is a good 4k player and it’s perfect for me as I like things that are simple and easy to use. I’d recommend this 4k Panasonic player to anyone whom wants 4k quality at a good price point.

Feels cheap, remote too small
This Blu Ray Player seems to be very cheaply made. The disk tray makes a strange noise while opening and closing. The remote is rather small and the most commonly used buttons, play, stop, pause are tiny and difficult to read for anyone over 50 or people who don’t have prefect vision specially in low light which is typical in a living room during movie time. I do not recommend this machine, The design is very poor..

Panasonic 4K Blu Ray Player, Ultra HD Premium Video Playback and Hi-Res Audio – DP-UB154P-K (Black)
This player plays DVD, Blu-ray DVD, and 4K DVD. It also reads & try’s to play my 3D DVDs, however, my TV is a 4K TV, not a 3D TV. This is not a WiFi player. My TV takes care of that. Also I have a FireTV stick which is set for all the apps I pay for. In my opinion (so far), this is the cheapest, absolute best player on the market.

Super basic 4K player with severely limited online functionality
If all you’re looking for is a basic 4K Blu-ray deck and you already have a smart TV, this may be a decent option. Basic is really the operative word here. You’re literally buying a 4k Blu-ray player and that’s it. There’s only an HDMI out port on this thing with a USB port for playing video off of a USB drive. This player has practically no online functionality aside from online Blu-ray features and the capability for firmware updates. It also requires a wired Ethernet connection to use that functionality at all. No WI-fi here.In the box you get only the basics, the player, the AC/DC power brick and a remote with batteries. There is no included HDMI cable and there’s also a rather anemic manual that barely tells you anything at all about the player beyond the very basics. For the price, I was a little shocked at the included remote. Goodness did they cheap out on the remote. It’s little and feels really cheap, like the type of remote you’d find with a $30 DVD player. Not a good look for a unit that costs 200 bucks. Then again, seeing as this is a bare bones player, I suppose it makes sense. In my case, the remote for my Samsung TV was able to control the player natively, likely due to signal carried back to the player through HDMI.In terms of being a Blu-ray player, it’s solid, playing both standard and 4k Blu-rays. It’s reasonably responsive to input from the remote and the picture is what you’d expect from a 4k bluray player (assuming you’re playing a 4K Blu-ray on a 4k TV). Standard Blu-rays look great, but the 4K ones look fantastic. It has HDR10+ compatibility and sound output through HDMI is solid. It also has some capability to upscale both DVD and Blu-ray images to 4k. It’s all pretty much automatic. The settings available on the player are pretty limited with very little available to adjust other than basic picture settings.I will comment that it is pretty noisy. It’s a small box, somewhat comparable to low end DVD players and clearly there’s no sound deadening in it or the motor used is a loud one. The motor noises are audible across a room, though they generally only happen when changing between menus, not during actual playback. Still, it threw me a bit to hear what sounded like an early 90’s CD-ROM drive coming from it.I did try using a flash drive via the usb port. It worked ok and the codec support seems to be about what you’d expect for a basic consumer player. You can play most music files, most common video types and display images via USB.I did shop around a bit to look at prices vs features and it does look like $200 is about the price point for units similar to it, though I did find find a Sony unit for the same price with a few extra features. For 50 dollars more, Panasonic has another model that does have online video streaming capability. Again, this unit is intended to be as basic as it gets.Is it worth it? It’s noisy and super basic. But it’s also cheap compared to a lot of the Ultra 4K players on the market. I guess it depends on what you’re looking for, but if basic is it, this is not a bad choice.

Nice, Simple Blu-ray Player
If you or someone you know is new to Blu-ray and/or UHD, then this is a nice Blu-ray/UHD player to get started with. There’s a lot to like about this package, as connectivity options are limited (which means there’s less in the box to confuse someone who’s less familiar with hooking something like this up) to just HDMI and wired ethernet.Yes, it reads discs slowly, but this is a Blu-ray player, and that’s to be expected unless you’re ripping your discs to a Plex server or something. It’s the price you pay for the fidelity of the content on these discs and keeping your home theater setup relatively simple.Anyway, I also really like the remote, as it’s quite simple compared to remotes that come with a lot of other optical media players. That said, Blu-ray as a format is so much more feature-rich compared to DVD, so this simplified remote probably does hurt feature discoverability for some people somewhat, but I think people who just like to hit Play and watch a movie will be really pleased with this setup. If you’re looking for a nice, simple Blu-ray player, then definitely give this one a look. It’s certainly not the cheapest, but the price is fair for the quality, and it’s pretty simple to use.

No frills player
This is a no frills player.. What I mean by that is.. There really is nothing to it.. No extra interface.. No apps.. No anything.. You have the player, it turns on to a basic menu (not even very fancy, just very basic), and then you choose, do you want to watch video’s or look at pictures, etc..This does not come with a HDMI cable, so make sure you have one..I do not have the voice recognition part turned on, so I can not comment about it..This has a standard RJ45 wired network plug to get onto the internet.. There is no wireless.. But to be honest, it is not like you need it anyways.. The only reason to need it is to upgrade the software, or if a Blu-Ray disk has content that needs the internet to see or use it..There is no smart interface with this.. No netflix, Youtube, Vudu, etc apps on this, and no way to add them that I could find either..Startup time is not very fast either.. I started a Blu-Ray disk from the same show, in 2 different Blu-Ray players.. and then after they started up the show, I turned the player off, this way it would start straight onto the show. This way I could check startup times.. My old Blu-Ray player that has different apps (vudu, etc) built in, started up the show in 19 seconds.. This 4K player started up in 34 seconds.. Almost double the time.. I am not sure if this is standard for 4K players, but since both disks being played were Blu-Ray disks, it does not seem like it should take almost double the time to start the disk up..My final thoughts.. It does work.. I would normally complain about it only being wired and no Wifi for the internet, but since I have not found any real reason to need to have this connected to the internet, it is hard to complain about a feature that I will probably never use.. and yes, I did check.. Mine came with the most up to date software on it.. I am not happy about the startup time being so long, but at the same time, since this is my first 4k player, I do not know if this is standard with 4k players (just like how it is standard for Blu-ray players to take more time to boot up over DVD players).. But since it is sticking with Blu-Ray format, I am guessing probably not, and it being more of a player issue then 4k issue.. But it works, so I will stick with it.. Just make sure that you are happy with a very basic player if you get this.

Don’t Judge The Book By Its Cover
The outside appearance of this 4K Blu-ray player is very plain to say the least. There’s no bells and whistles of digital display panel or fancy remote control with tons of buttons, which half of them will probably never get used. This player only has one HDMI output, no optical output, and no WIFI connection either. However, it does have Ethernet and USB ports for firmware update and external source playback. The interface seems very basic and easy to navigate after powered on. It gives four options of Videos, Music, Photos, and Setup. For Videos/Music/Photos, the source can be selected either from disc or USB. It’s that simple and basically plug-and-play.I find this player supports a lot of different Audio/Video formats. When connected to my Samsung 4K OLED TV via Marantz AV receiver, the image is vibrant with incredible depth of color and details. Even watching regular DVD disc, the picture quality is noticeably enhanced. Moreover, the sound produced is crystal clear thanked to its Hi-Res Audio processor. I especially love watching concert videos with this player. It just feels so real. The fact that it lacks Dolby Vision playback capability is not a big deal to me. Since it does support UHD Blu-ray discs, Hybrid Log-Gamma, HDR10, and HDR10+ dynamic metadata (required Ethernet connection), this is probably more than satisfactory to me. One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s considerably noisier during operation than I’d prefer, but that won’t be perceptible at all during media playback. Overall, I’m very impressed with the image and sound quality this 4K Blu-ray player is able to produce despite the underwhelming appearance.

Could be better. Could be A LOT worse…
Well… At this price-point, I must say I was actually expecting a little bit more. But, I am definitely not disappointed…I don’t always need a bunch of “bells and whistles”, when it comes to my tech-devices. And, I guess that’s a GOOD thing… because this Blu-ray player sure doesn’t have many of them. LOL.It’s a nice, clean, simple, straightforward, “no frills”, basic, easy-to-use, entry-level Blu-ray player. Period. And, for this reason, I definitely get the impression that you’re paying a little bit more, just for the “Panasonic” name… as there are other comparable makes and models out there that are probably a bit better of a value than this one…With all that being said, however, I AM happy and satisfied with this product. Overall, for what it is (and isn’t), I rate it 4.4 stars…

Basic blu-ray player with amazing 4k picture quality! !
The Panasonic blu-ray player is decent! It’s your basic blu-ray player that plays 4K videos, but doesn’t have any of the extras. It was simple to set up to my TV, nothing really to it. It comes with a remote which works well and is easy to use. It does not come with an hdmi cable though, so you will need to buy one or hopefully have one on hand like I did. I do think the 4k picture quality is amazing. It’s bright, vivid, crisp, and super clear, makes watching movies an overall better experience. I’m not sure why it cost so much though, probably because it’s Panasonic, but it should be cheaper. Overall it works and has a beautiful picture quality, so I’m satisfied.

Excellent picture quality
This Blu Ray player has me scratching my head somewhat, it is a ultra HD player meaning it plays in 4K, and I must say that it does have excellent picture quality and I would say if you are really obsessed with 4K and having exceptional picture quality then this Blu ray player is going to be up your street. But a part from the picture quality I’m struggling to understand why it’s so expensive as it doesn’t have any other features that warrant that kind of price. It says High res audio on the box but that it somewhat of a lie as the player doesn’t have any digital outputs which means you have to go through the HDMI output and through a TV, and TV’s are from what I know resampled to 48kHz which isn’t High res ! I know this is kind of nerdy but these product are miss leading and most people don’t understand that. Overall this is a good Blu ray player if all you care about is picture quality but if want it for some other reason then I don’t think it’s worth the price, there are other players out there that do the same for less.

works great
I’m not any kind of serious cinephile or expert in fancy visual technology (in fact this is the first Blu Ray player I’ve ever owned), but this machine works and the picture looks great. To test it I pulled out one of the DVDs we have that also came with a Blu Ray disc and directly compared them with the first few minutes of footage. And hey, what do you know about that! The Blu Ray looks better! It’s easy to set up, very straightforward. One note is that it DOES NOT come with an HDMI cable. Which seems silly to me, but on the other hand of course I had one we could use with it, so. ::shrug::

Overall awesome DVD player
This player is spot on for what I needed. I have an older blue ray that just needs to retire. This one is pretty lightweight and a smaller footprint than the other one had. The remote is a touch small and likely will get lost quickly in my house with my kids losing in the couch I guess as always. The quality of the player however looks amazing. 4k is awesome.Does not come with a lot of things like the usual HDMI and such – but apart from that it is a good player and the price is pretty good too!

Compact Size and Great Features~!
This is a great Blueray player. I wanted something nicer than the lower-end models, and this feels like a high-quality component as opposed to the lower-end consumer goods we’ve seen in the last few years.Panasonic owned the VHS market for quality, which seems comparable to those machines.Easy setup and looks great, but that also depends on your television set. Nicer than the Sony we have in the bedroom.

My TV takes care of that. works great
I’m not any kind of serious cinephile or expert in fancy visual technology (in fact this is the first Blu Ray player I’ve ever owned), but this machine works and the picture looks great.
