A little slow
This is my second induction cooker. My first one was a Duxtop but I gave it away to my son. It definitely would be my choice between the two makers. It has better control and was faster to get the pan hot than this one. All that being said I still like it better as compared to an electric stove.

Works beautifully, read the INSTRUCTIONS lol
It’s pretty clear to me after reading the negative reviews that at least half of the people never bothered to even glance at the instructions, because I’ve been using it for six months, and have yet to experience any of the issues most of the complaints were about. This cooktop guarantees that no matter what hotel room I’m staying in, I can still put together a meal in short order with terrific results. Using an infrared thermometer, I was able to observe temperatures were consistent throughout the middle and high range with what was displayed. Anything you might try to cook on your normal stove top you can cook on this, just faster and better… cooking with cast-iron on an induction cooktop is a joy, but cast-iron isn’t the best for traveling lol, so just make sure you find yourself some good steel-cored aluminum pans and you’ll never look back..An added bonus of owning this is the ability for precise temperature control when candymaking! If you’ve never tried making candy of any kind, trust me when I say, the temperature is all important at almost every stage of the process, regardless of the type of candy, and this will tell you what you need to know without having to bite your nails for five minutes waiting for the candy thermometer to tell you that you’re 15 degrees too hot 🤬To sum up, I highly recommend this product to anyone who travels on the road for work, or anyone who cooks at home and just wants to be better at it 👍🏼

Stays cool
Read the directions. Once you get the hang of this you will like it. It stays cool so you can’t burn yourself, even on high. I got this to have in my van when I go on trips. I plug it into my solar power and eat well on the road. The first thing I made was chicken with caramelized onions and garlic and was delighted. If you can’t cook on an open fire, this is the next best thing!

It served us well! … update and -1 star.
We bought ours in May 2019 and *love* it. We used it three times a day every day through January 2023. Not bad, considering we used it outside in summer to keep the house cool, and it got us through the Year of Frying Foods – where it was heating oil on 375° F for 2 to 3 hours at a time. That cooked the wiring a bit – afterward, it seemed to cook hotter than the temperature shown, where it had been perfectly accurate, and it struggled to boil water as fast as it did. Still, the little kids learned to cook on it because it is so much less of a burn hazard. We set it on a chair seat for them and they cooked flatbreads, sandwiches, pasta, and soups. It worked faithfully for over another year and a half, although I had to use our gas stove to get the huge pots of bean soup boiling before setting them on the induction burner for an hour at a time. I think three weeks of that was the final blow. This morning, we finally heated through one of the wires in the cooktop. I miss it already. We will either get another one, or two, or look into a two-burner version….Update, bought the newer version in February 2023, and it’s almost November. We use it several times a day. With the same product, I expected the same effectiveness. However, the temperature is no longer consistent: the button for 275⁰F wavers between about 175⁰F and 400⁰F! That matters a lot when it affects the pan instantly! I choose a gentle temperature for butter, it starts warm, then the electronics kick it up and it burns and smokes. I set a frying temperature (I am more careful with that, now), it starts appropriately high, then drops with no warning and my fritters end up dripping with oil. I loved how fine-tuned the last machine was, how much better I could cook with it than the gas stove. This one plays practical jokes with our meals. Not always. But often enough to be irksome. We use steel pans, a coated induction-use pan, and cast iron. Most temperature issues occur with the cast iron, but not all – and the same pans worked just fine with our old machine.

Now we are cooking!
Absolutely love this appliance. I live in a mobile home, and was tired of the propane running out alot. Now I don’t need propane for the stove. It boils water under 10 minutes on the Sear setting. Love the Pause button, so that I can do other things and then get back to it easily by pushing Start. Light weight so that I can stow it anywhere or take with me camping.

So much faster!
I won’t even use my high end gas range anymore because this has spoiled me with the speed of heating and accuracy of temperature. It’s really phenomenal how much faster it is.Downside is that the fan is a bit loud but at this price point it’s a small issue. I’ve gotten used to it.The coil is actually 8 inches. I peered inside with a strong flashlight and I can see the coil. The coil is more dense at the center so that’s why it can appear that it is no bigger than the other models. But some of the coil does extend all the way to 8 inches which makes the heat much better distributed across the pan.

Something that nuwave company needs to improve
This is my second nuwave induction hot plate the only reason is because the first one got messed up it started acting weird but the thing is even so it still was working no matter what but I went and got this new one because I was looking for something different especially when there is so many no names brans out there some of them are worthless as I did purchase one no name brand and I had to return it twice so that’s when I went for this nuwave induction to be honest with you I like it and it did kind of blew my mind on how it’s a bit bigger then my older one.As I have put on my title saying something about nuwave company needs to improve is the buttons as the first one the buttons got turned off and it’s because of the grease gets to it and it eats up the material so yes nuwave company needs to work hard on that and stop making it the same way as they can see from other customers are saying the same thing so come on nuwave company make some improvements. And guys I have seen some of you showing the reviews that is not working especially when you don’t even have a magnetic pot in it of course not if the pot is not in it it’s not going to work at all you have to put ur pot in the induction hot plate before you get it to start up keep in mind it’s a induction hot plate not a regular hot plate.

Excellent Burner, Excellent Customer Service!
I love being able to sear steaks and fish out on my patio, being able to select a lower wattage is great with the power limitations we have. The only issue I had was the keypad did not last as long as it did on my original brand which lasted 7 years, but Nuwave sent me a replacement keypad cover and it works beautifully!

This is my 2nd Nu Wave
This is my 2nd Nu Wave induction cooker. The first one was a USED gift and I don’t know how long she had it before she gave it to me. It lasted a few months before it stopped working properly. But in the months that I had it, it performed very well, I enjoyed cooking on it so when it failed I bought another one!

First time using an induction stove and I LOVE it!
We’ve had to simplify and get an induction stove since our new place doesn’t have a kitchen. So we opted for the NuWave induction stove and let me tell you, this thing is awesome!!I’ve had it for a month and I’ve already made several delicious and hot meals with this along with my ceramic pots. I love that you can gradually adjust the temperature settings from low to medium low, to medium to medium high to high! Whether it’s stir fry, a pot of rice, curries, soups, you can use this thing to make it all! And it heats up fast too.It also has a safety feature where if there is no pot or pan on top of the stove, it won’t turn on. It also only heats up the portion of the stove that the pot/pan sits on. I HIGHLY recommend this induction stove for all your small kitchen/camping cooking needs!

Absolute GREAT BUY
This is my third one. My first two had the 6″ burner coils. Have 8″-10″-and 12″ fry pans. The first one after about 10 years the start button feel thru , making it useless. The second one is still working but often just turns itself off. Even after just a very few minutes beingused. So you have to watch it all the time. Found this one in garbage years ago. Am guessing someone didn’t know what type cooking pots and pans they needed. So they threw it away. Bad for them GOOD for me !Replaced the first one here at Amazon with the Nuwave Gold, with 8″ burner coils. This one is way better than my first one. Now am going to buy another one of Of the “Gold” series to replace the one that shuts off all the time. Also have Nuwave oven, so between burners and oven have the electrical breakers turned off on my stove. YOU CAN’T GO WRONG GREAT BUY. !! Michael

8-inch coil with flexible power input.
Relatively large induction coil, small, light weight form factor with switchable power input settings from 600-1500 watts. Great for inverter powered camping situations. Ideal for 10″ iron pans or smaller. Passable with 12″ iron pan. I use mine on back porch to reduce smells and heat in the kitchen. Accurate, wide range cooking temperatures starting at 100 degrees with 99 hour timer allow crockpot style cooking to 560 degrees sear. Remember to unplug when not in use as it draws 0.4 amps at idle.

Awesome induction top
So I was looking for an induction top that was portable.I purchased this unit and brought it to my work to cook mostaccioli noodles for a cultural event at our university. And I used it for the noodles and then use my slow cooker so that the spaghetti sauce would go into the noodles rather than sit on top the noodles everyone raved about it, and I couldn’t believe how fast this induction cooker boiled these noodles and portable at that I’ve given an A+..

LOVE IT
I purchased this due to my propane tank leaking underground thus stove & water heater had to be shut off. The propane took 1 week to dig up and order the part. I ordered this induction burner and received it very quickly and in good shape. I was able to cook with my Misen stainless steel pans all the things I needed for the week and including my dogs special diet food. This was something that I was eventually going to order for camping, but I got to try it out early. 1st time ever cooking with induction. Very happy with my choice. My Enphase solar system shows me my power usage in real time and this burner didn’t cause a spike in my power usage.

Works well and convenient
Easy to use. At first I thought I have a bad unit because it wasn’t boiling water in a stainless steel pot. After experimenting with multiple pots and pans, I realized that some of my stainless steel kitchenware are stainless steel coated. Those don’t work with this cooker. Make sure you have the right type of pots and pans before buying it. Or buy it and then buy new pots and pans that are made for induction cookers. Very handy to use for outdoors cooking.

Exactly what I wanted and needed.
What this one has over my previous brand/model is that the element is much larger and the temperature settings can be set in smaller increments. The max sear setting is also very useful. All of this allows way more control and precision and honestly makes me a better cook.

Good Induction Cooker! Temperature readings are misleading
The media could not be loaded.
This induction cooker is great and can accommodate my large 12 inch pans! It does heat pretty fast and at about the same speed as my butane stove. Only issue I really have with it is that the temperature readings are misleading. I left this induction cooktop on to boil water for 20 minutes, and it never reached above 210 F, despite displaying the temp as 425F.The cooktop, along with all other portable induction stoves, will produce a high pitched whine at the highest temp settings. This induction cooktop was better at keeping the whine down compared to another Duxtop that I tried. I still think this is a solid cooktop and is great for emergencies or for something like camping.

Temperature control is not what you think.
Over all I like the product. I have used an induction heater for at least 20 years. This is the first one I had where I had to use the temperature control and not had the option to just set a % on time. What you have to know about temperature control is that the temperature sensor is under the base. So the pan has to heat up first, which then heats up the base, and finally the temperature sensor get heated. What you find happening is that you can burn you food before the temperature control start to work. I do a lot of eggs and what I do is preheat the pan at 175 for a 3-5 min then put in the egg and turn the temperature down to 160-170 to cook. If I put the egg in cold and set it at anything in the 169-175 range the eggs have to be watched so they do not burn. My recommendation is to over shoot the temperature setting at first the turn it down to the temperature you want. This way the base and pan heat up fast along with the sensor. Then when you turn it down the sensor and base will be at a point were they can control the temperature.

Great little worker
We have is on our boat for when we need more oomph than our alcohol burner can provide. This cooks beautifully and I don’t need a high powered inverter to run it.While it is glass topped, I use a thin silicone pot holder between it and the pot/pan to provide resistance so it doesn’t slide if the seas are a bit spicy outside. The glass top makes it super easy to clean, too. It’s large enough to handle a lobster pot but handles a smaller crepe pan, with ease. The various power settings come in handy to either use less power as it’s been cloudy out or to give a fast rolling boil and everything in between.I love this unit enough to replace it and pay import duties, customs, and VAT on a replacement, should it be needed.I love that it can be used in the galley to cook, in the bathroom to provide hot water, or to cook topsides when it’s too hot to cook inside.Love it!

Dry even heating.
I love this product. I had the other model of this for 8years and when the front broke down I gave it to my son for his motor home and bought this upgraded one. It works with a large frying pan which the other one did not. I am extremely happy with it as I cook with it every day. I am handicapped and in a wheelchair and I can’t reach the top of my stove very well. So I bought A very large kitchen cart, my husband cut the legs down and I put this on one side and can cook to my hearts content. I have a whole set of Le Creuset pots and pans which work on the cooker since they are cast iron.

Easy to use anywhere
I love to cook on the deck. I can easily move this to any location and enjoy cooking at the accurate temp I want quickly. I set it on a wood chopping block to make sure it’s not effected by anything under it. If I expect something messy I can put down a towel and wash it afterwards. I especially like how fast this can get to the temperature I desire including boiling water. I seldom use my built in cook top now.

Disappointed that it can’t be set to default to 600 watts…or is there a trick?
I bought the PIC Gold specifically because the wattage can be adjusted to 600 watts so, if I have to, I can cook using my 600-watt solar generator. But because it defaults to 1500 watts when turned on, it trips the generator before I can set it to 600 watts.Don’t get me wrong: I like the induction burner a lot. It handles so easily, and I think it’s a far safer cooking surface for a senior like me than the alternatives. It works perfectly with my cast iron cookware as well as my induction-ready Circulon set, and it’s plenty big. But it’s pretty useless to me if the grid goes down, and that’s why I bought it to begin with.

I love this cooktop!
I’ve been trying to convince my husband to switch out our gas cooktop to an induction one for a while, without success. Then I had the idea of purchasing a portable cooktop to see if induction really lives up to the hype. I am blown away! The ease of cooking and precise temperature control, the smooth surface that cleans like a dream, the limited heat transference to the air – this one is particularly great living in Houston – the cleaner air in my kitchen…. I could go on about how much I love this! My husband has been caught using it, too, and has said I can switch out the gas cooktop, too. Winner! Be warned, however, that all stainless steel cookware is not induction-friendly. We’ve had a set of Farberware Millenium stainless steel cookware for 25 years – it does not work on this cooktop. Newer Farberware (I bought one additional pot just a few years ago) does work. Fortunately, to me this is another winner, as I’ve been looking for an excuse to replace our cookware (don’t tell my husband) for a while. The same happens with non-stick aluminum pans – old ones don’t work, but newer ones do. Time to clean out the cookware cabinet, which needed it! Cast iron works great. We’ll also be able to take this cooktop in our RV to avoid using the propane stove when we have electric hookups. More winner points for this Nuwave cooktop! This is a great purchase!

An Incredible Device That Reminds Me of a Huge Mistake
I bought this for our travel trailer, but have been using it at home a lot. I’ll probably buy a second one for the trailer. I’m surprised how powerful it is given it’s only a 120 volt device, but it’s pretty much as fast as our higher end gas stove. Which is the mistake it reminds me of–I wish we’d gone induction rather than gas when we did our home remodel! We considered it, but went gas.As to this device, the controls are relatively simple. It has some pre-set heat ranges, but you can adjust up and down from those, say to get the perfect boil going. Like a gas stove, the food reacts quickly to a change in settings. I haven’t played around with a lot of the other settings, but it does have settings to reduce the maximum wattage, which I think will be useful in the travel trailer, and it does have a timer setting which is both useful and somewhat of a pain. The timer is useful for the obvious reason, but the pain is that it has an automatic 60 minute timer, so you have to keep that in mind if you’re doing a long project and extend the timer if necessary.Anyway, this is my first plug in induction cooktop, so I don’t know what the more expensive ones do that this one doesn’t, but I can’t imagine they are much better.Update/Edit: Just wanted to note how much I love the precise temperature control on this. Last week I made my best pan fried oysters in my life! My dad would have been proud. And the scallops I cooked up were really good too (having them again this week). And another nice use just this morning. Needed to humidify the air so I started a pan of water boiling, turned the temperature down to 220 and set the timer for 30 minutes. Worked perfectly.

Easy to use. Heats up quick.
I was super excited to try this as soon as I got it. Thankfully it has a quickstart guide. I used my cast iron pan on it with no issues. Frys an egg and toast just fine 🙂 I then tried boiling some water for mac-n-cheese. Again, no issues and I think it did it faster than my gas stove. Without thinking, I did lift a pan off of the cooktop without stopping it, thankfully, it has a built-in sensor to turn itself off when no pan is detected. You will need “induction-ready” cookware and follow the instructions of not putting other metallic objects near it, including not using it on a metal surface. It does make a fair amount of fan noise, but not any more than my stove’s exhaust fan. This is going to work perfectly in the kitchenette I am building off my lower level while I renovate my kitchen. This also has a Wattage selection to limit the power draw on a circuit that may not be able to handle the full 1500 watts. A nice feature for when the microwave is on the same breaker (Though a dedicated circuit is always ideal for each. Right. As-if that ever happens). All in all, so far I really like this thing.

Great Induction Cooker
It works great but you HAVE to remember to push the start button to make it work. I made that mistake the firdt two or three times I used it. Really good range of temperature increments. Also, it doesn’t have cooling fan when you are done with it like my other induction cooker manufactured by a different company. To turn it off you have to unplug itNo off button.

Brings the joy back to cooking!
This review is for the NuWave Gold Precision Induction Cook-top (PIC).I received the unit in excellent condition; no visible damage to external packaging and it arrived on the scheduled date; excellent work NuWave/Amazon. I unpacked the NuWave and reviewed the instructions. Other than the slight odor from the first few uses, as is stated in manual, I have had no problems with the unit so far.I have to say the NuWave Gold PIC is by far so much easier to control the cooking process than the almost new Frigidaire gas range that came with my current home. While that range has control knobs that rotate from Off, Lite, Hi, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and Lo over 195 degrees of rotation; Hi to Lo only covers 115 degrees and only the last 15-20 degrees (2 to Lo) makes any change in the burner flame. My local gas supplier confirmed this is very common for consumer gas ranges. The NuWave is much more like using an electric range such as the GE model I had in my previous home; back when I enjoyed cooking. The last 20+ years, cooking has been more of a chore. Not anymore. I can hardly wait for the next chance to use the NuWave. Plus, given the recent news about home air quality and natural gas ranges potentially going away; I decided it was time to try induction. Since receiving the NuWave my existing gas range has literally become additional counter-space as I haven’t used its cook-top at all.Although I saw a number of reviews indicating the keyboard cover deteriorates over time/use; the features and price put the NuWave Gold at top of my list. I’m hoping this problem doesn’t show up for several years of use. It would be great if NuWave made the PIC with a better or user replaceable keyboard cover; but that’s not offered at this time.I selected the NuWave Gold primarily because it offered the larger cooking surface (I frequently use 7” and larger cookware) compared to other induction units AND more importantly it had 10 degree temperature adjustments. Others I looked into typically had 20 or so settings for cooking and a lot of reviewers grumbled about that; NuWave Gold (and Flex) has around 50. Granted the NuWave Gold does have 6 predetermined temperature settings; but all can be adjusted via the +/- buttons. I have noticed that all but the low preset button will initially display an xx5 temperature value and the 5F part will be dropped once a +/- button is pressed. After that, the display will show temperature by 10’s until a setting other than low is again selected. I was so pleased with cooking my first batch of bacon on the NuWave. I started on the Medium selection; but the sizzle was bit too fast. I lowered the temp by 20 degrees and had a wonderful cooking temp that made near perfect bacon. The built-in count-down timer is an excellent feature. It is so convenient to adjust the time so the NuWave will shut down after my preset cooking time is complete. However, I haven’t quite figured out how to apply the programmable feature. I understand how to use it; but there’s no way to tell if the food has come to a boil or reached a required cooking temp. Or when it’s time to reduce the heat and simmer or stay warm. My best guess, since there’s no temperature probe like with my microwave, is that you have to monitor a prior cooking process once or twice and record the time it takes. Hopefully your cookware selection and recipe volume doesn’t vary by much so that the time you learn works out properly. Plus the program is deleted once power is removed from the NuWave. It would be great to have them remain; especially if could enter say up to ten different user programs. In anticipation of the NuWave, I also purchased new cookware set. A Tramontina HA aluminum, induction ready, ceramic coated set, with insulated handles. It’s a beautiful cookware set; but when I started using them on the NuWave they didn’t seem to heat up very quickly. Performance was similar to using my old Pampered Chef HA aluminum non-induction cookware on the gas range. Fast heating is supposed to be one of the key benefits of induction cooking. So I set up a comparison with my old stainless cookware that readily passed the magnet test. To compare each piece of cookware, I placed a one inch depth of fresh tap water in the pot/pan with a starting temp ~ 55-60F. I then used a Fluke 87 Mark V multimeter with a type K thermocouple for the temperature measurements. The thermocouple rested in the upper 1/4” of the water in the center of the pan. I used a Poniie PN1500 energy monitor for the wattage readings. All tests used the NuWave on it’s maximum “Sear” setting. Time was measured using the countdown feature of the NuWave. The SS dia column refers to the stainless diameter on the bottom of the pot/pan in inches; a similar inch measurement was made for the overall bottom diameter. Obviously the volume of water in each pan varied; but notice the consistency in the heating times and how the wattage reduced according to SS dia. Test results are as follows:Vessel Manu SS dia Bottom diameter Wattage Mins to 180F Water Vol1.5qt sauce Tra 4-7/8 5-3/16 536-573 7+ 1.5c3qt sauce Tra 5-1/8 6-1/2 745-771 7+ 2.5c4.5qt saute’ Tra 8-1/8 9/1/4 1200-1256 7+ 5.75c5qt dutch Tra 6-3/8 7-3/4 1065-1118 6+ 3.75c8” skillet Tra 5-1/8 6 705-748 8+ 2.75c10” skillet Tra 5-13/16 7 955-1014 7+ 4c1/2qt sauce Unk 3-3/4 NA 785-818 2+ 1c1qt sauce Unk 4-1/2 NA 964-972 2+ 1.5c2qt sauce Unk 6 NA 1225-1248 2+ 2.25c4qt pot Unk 7-1/2 NA 1417-1468 3+ 3.5c5qt dutch Unk 8-1/4 NA 1501-1530 4+ 4c8.75” skillet Unk 7-1/2 NA 1487-1505 3+ 3.75c11” sq griddle Green NA 10-1/2 1305-1345 4+ 3cMy old stainless set dated from 1980’s and was simply marked “stainless Korea” on the bottom. They appeared to be made from 20 gauge material and are fairly light weight pots/pans. I also recently purchased a GreenPan griddle with it’s Magneto induction coating and added it to the results. However it could not be filled with 1” layer of water – about 3/8” was all it would hold.Notice how much lower the wattage is and the longer heating times on the Tramontina cookware compared to a similar size SS diameter stainless item. Clearly the very thin “holey” SS bottom panel is not designed for optimum heat transfer on the Tramontina cookware. This was confirmed via discussion with a NuWave representative – thicker SS will work far better. My magnet test also confirmed the Tramontina cookware had a much weaker “pull” vs the old SS cookware. While the GreenPan griddle also had a somewhat weak magnetic “pull”, it’s Magneto performance was clearly much better than the Tramontina cookware design. The data clearly shows how well the NuWave PIC is protecting itself with the smaller size cookware and their poorer induction power absorption by reducing output power. What struck me odd is, as the volumes of water varied with each piece, the heating times remained relatively constant within the same cookware sets. While the commonly used “induction compatible” or “induction ready” statements by manufacturers are true; they are clearly not always the most efficient design to use with induction cooking. I’d like to see a “induction optimized” marking for cookware that gets the most efficiency out of induction heating. This “induction optimized” cookware should work as well and heat as fast as good stainless performs on an induction cook-top (consumer testing labs are you reading this?) My takeaway from all this testing is that you should buy good heavy stainless cookware with a strong magnetic attraction for use with the NuWave. The NuWave will perform it’s best with that type of cookware; and make you much happier using it.One other thing I’ll mention. The NuWave Gold model is fairly large and uses a good bit of counter-space. So when it is not in use, I created a simple wooden stand to hold the unit vertically on it’s back edge (see pics). Most wall cabinets are 16” above the counter-top and the Gold will fit nicely at the back of the counter when standing vertical. Please note; NuWave does not offer any stand like I’m describing. I used two 3-1/2 x 8 x 3/4” wood pieces for front and back of the stand. The NuWave Gold uses a 12-3/8” diameter for the 1” thick top section and a 12” diameter for the 1-5/8” thick main body down to the counter-top. I added an extra 1/16” to these two thicker measurements for a felt liner in my stand design. Both of these thick wood pieces were cut from a 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 x 8”. The larger diameter arc was centered 1/2” in from the bottom edge of the 1-1/16” piece. The smaller diameter arc was centered 11/16” in from the bottom edge of the 1-11/16” piece. Arcs were cut on a band saw. The three thinner pieces (two 3/4” pieces and the 1-1/16” piece) were then squared up as a complete assembly; thru holes marked/drilled into these, 3/4” in from ends and 3/4” up from the bottom . One of the 3/4” front/back pieces accepts 1-1/4” long wood screws securing it to the 1-11/16 piece. I used 2-1/2” long wood screws to secure the remaining 3/4” front/back piece thru the 1-1/16” piece and into the 1-11/16 from the opposite side. Felt pieces were cut to fit the stand interior sides and bottom (curved pieces). A spray adhesive was used to attach the felt to the inside of the stand. The stand is simple, stable, and secures the NuWave Gold very well. Hopefully my idea benefits your use of the NuWave and your counter-space.In summary, I would absolutely buy the NuWave Gold again. I’m currently mulling over if I covered my range top with a piece of counter top; then I could buy a second Gold unit, make another stand, have two cook surfaces, and even more usable counter-space! My enjoyment for cooking has returned!

Convenient!
I was on the fence on this item for almost a year. I have a pellet grill as well as a gas grill and to cook a steak on a pellet grill you really can’t get a good sear (on most pellet grills) so you have to resort to your gas grill to sear or use a cast iron skillet on your stove. Well, I thought if I had a burner on my pellet grill that would make it more convenient. There are now pellet grill manufacturers that have now added an induction side burner built into the grill. This I thought was awesome so I started to look at them and decided on this one because for the money, the temperature setting options were awesome. The temperature options were very wide from 100 – 575 degrees. We made a pot of chili this weekend and took this with us to heat it up and keep it warm all afternoon!A great product with so many options. The quality is top notch!BUT, I do have one complaint but not at all a reason to lower my 5 star review. The surface seems to be very slippery so be careful trying to scoop something like chili out of a large pot. Make sure you hold onto the pot! Yes that falls into “common sense” and its a tip, not a complaint. Also would be great for a hot plate at a party, just to keep something at a constant temperature all evening.

It’s mycooking source.
I have been using this burner for for 10 years. Downside? none unless you have to cook more than one thing at a time which I manage to avoid- I am cooking for 1 most of the time. I am buying a new one as the buttons have been breaking leaving me to use a chopstick to use the controls. It still works but now have 4 buttons gone and 1 more one the way. Remember I have been using it exclusively for 10 years. What do I love about it? Instant on and instant off. Yes the pan will stay hot, especially cast iron. And the temp control. I do like the fact that it is easily transported to anywhere you need it but don’t generally take it anywhere.

First time with induction
I tried induction for the first time and it was pretty neat! The pot got hot but the surface did not and the device itself didn’t produce heat directly either! Though the device does have components that do get warm so there is a fan that runs when you use it to keep the components cool. This means that you don’t have to worry about the surface you put the device on. That said, you do have to be mindful of magnetic surfaces or electrical devices being beat the cooker when in use. It works with electromagnets and coils to transfer heat to something within the electric field. While heat can only be transferred to things near the heater, the field itself ranges a little farther than that so you won’t want your phone right next to it, probably at least a foot though they make a note of saying to make sure to keep things a few inches from the device so I would imagine a foot would be enough, though I’m not willing to test that… Make sure not to have it on a magnetic surface as well when in use.All that aside, it works well and I like having precise temperature controls. Funny enough, it isn’t that much more difficult to make a pot/pan that works with induction so many pots and pans now adays have induction as a cooking option so many people probably don’t even realize they can already use induction. The wattage controls makes it feel like a great item to have for camping when you might be somewhere where power is limited or perhaps making a large gumbo pot. It says that it can hold up to 50lbs so imagine even deep frying a turkey could be an option, all up to you. I plan to make Mac and cheese later but as a simple test, I heated a can of Spaghetti O’s (basically soup). I had a hard time initially because I never pressed start. To start you need to either press start using default temperature) or set your temperature and press start. I imagine the program button also works as a start button since it will start a present, but I have no need for that right now. Either way, I like it so far. I picked this one over the other since it had more temperature control options and bigger is better. I figure I can get more use out of one I can use or anything than one that has a limitation, but if you wanted to get into induction, I would recommend either the gold or the flex. Hopefully if I have any issues later, nuwave will be helpful as other mark concerns.

SOME MAJOR THINGS THEY DO NOT TELL YOU!
There are a couple of major things that are not mentioned.POSITIVES1)It definitely can Bring Water to an actual rolling boil.2)The Nuwave brings water to boil quicker then a normal gas range.3)You can use a 10 inch Induction ready sauté pan4)Food will never get burned5)VERY VERY EASY TO CLEAN6)Super PortableNEGATIVES1)The Nuwave defaults to the HIGHEST wattage setting of 1500 watts. When you first plug it in it will be set to 1500 watts. so if you need to use it at the LOWER 600 watts or 900 watts settings you need to adjust it EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU USE IT! The default wattage should be the LOWEST WATTAGE for safety reasons.2)The plug is TWO prong not THREE prong… this sounds like a plus, but our unit was being used at the lowest setting of 600 Watts and after one week the Nuwave got FRIED by a power surge and stopped working entirely.Luckily, I got my money back from Amazon but most MODERN appliances have a THREE prong plug to help with proper grounding and to protect the device itself from power surges.3)When you sauté Vegetables, even in a professional stainless steel induction ready pan… THEY NEVER EVER EVER BROWN. This means all that great taste that comes from caramelizing veggies like onions or carrots does not EVER happen. The Nuwave will sauté vegetables but like a very light sauté even at the higher heat 450°.4)The last problem is minor but the manual does state that the Nuwave cooks using a magnetic field and that Magnetic Field can negatively affect Mobile devices. We had to be very careful to not use an IPad or phone nearby it. Not sure everyone will read that part in the manualTo be fair, my NYC Apartment building is not modern and our stove was being replaced. I got the Nuwave Gold 12 Inch Precision Induction Cooktop as a SAFE way to cook while we awaited our new stove. It worked ok for that one week, then it blew a fuse in the house and the device was totally fried and useless.Later, We remembered the Instant Pot 3 Quart given to us as a gift 3 years ago and never opened. The Instant Pot Mini uses only 700 Watts (3 Prong Plug) . it can be used with the top OFF to SAUTÉ and it really browns veggies. The Instant Pot can truly boil 3 Quarts of water so you can make Pasta, Rice or Potatoes with it. Using the Instant Pot in pressure cooking mode makes truly delicious soups. If you are without a stove for a bit, maybe skip the Nuwave and get an Instant Pot 3 Quart Instead. There is a minor learning curve with the Instant pot, admittedly but it is very very useful to own.

This is a SMART & WISE Investment-IT SAVES ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT
i BOUGHT THIS Nuwave Gold Precision Induction Cooktop FOR ONE BIG REASON=TO SAVE ON ELECTRICITY. When I saw how easily it worked @ my uncle Bill’s home, I said we have to have one. So i bought TWO and thus eliminated the standard stovetop of our electric-sucking stove. Wait…the best part is I use my EcoFlow Delta MiNi Solar power station to power BOTH ! Seriously, TWO Solar-Powered Nuwave Gold Precision Induction Cooktops used daily. Easy to keep & clean ON TOP of what WAS once our stove ! The electricity saved daily well, helps to really make my day as i cut FP&L out of the equation. You can too !! Hey, I did it ! A+ on being study & dependable. Thanks for reading me & have a great day, Don

Good piece of induction equipment
Great product but a little finicky on which induction cookware it will accept. An error code of E1 kept popping up because it does not want to register or the induction cookware I currently have.

Made me love induction
I bought one for cooking while my kitchen was being renovated. It turns out I love cooking on an induction surface. I ended up buy an induction cooktop based on my experience with this product. It was fast heating up. Temperature adjusted quickly and with great precision. I plan to take it car camping.

Who needs a stove?!
This is a great appliance. We bought this for my dad to replace the other one he had for years. He literally used it to death. He uses it instead of the stove and uses it daily. We only wanted this brand and the exact replacement of what he had because of its durability. Of course you must use induction-ready cookware, which is kind of pricey. No danger of burning your hand on this. Heats up fast and evenly and cooks great. Highly recommend!

Great, except no available temperature works with my pressure cooker
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I got this to use instead of my unvented gas stove, and was delighted with it until today. (I set it on a sturdy bamboo cutting board that I set on one side of my gas stove.) It heats up quickly and I love knowing I’m not breathing a lot of yucky emissions. It has six preset temperature settings, and also + and – buttons you can use to change the temperature by ten degrees. (In some cases, the change turns out to be five degrees.)Today I tried it for the first time with the pressure cooker I use weekly and discovered that the temperature I need is not available. My (Fissler) pressure cooker (which I love) has a “traffic light” system: yellow means insufficient pressure; green means proper pressure for cooking; red means pressure is too high.Well, wouldn’t you know: 220 degrees F. causes the traffic light to go too high into the red zone, but 210 degrees F. causes the traffic light to sink into the yellow, and not near where it would change to green, either.I may return this, if still possible, or I will sell to my neighbor at a discount and try again. I am committed to induction cooking and plan never to turn my gas stove on again. Hoping to find an induction cooker whose temperature can be changed five degrees at a time, or even one degree.UPDATE: I originally gave this three stars, but then I discovered that pretty much every induction cooktop can be changed in 10-degree increments only; some can be changed only in 25-degree increments. There is one that can be changed one degree at a time, but it costs $1500 and is poorly reviewed for other reasons. Finally I found one, from this same maker, labeled as commercial grade, that can be changed in 5-degree increments. I have ordered one, will sell the first one to my neighbor, and am crossing my fingers that 215 degrees F. will be okay for my pressure cooker.
