I bought this little freezer Feb 12, 2021 and it died Nov 8, 2023. Seems like it should have lasted longer than 21 months? It was nice while it lasted!!

Better than nothing.
I just got this today, so I plan to update more later after I have used it a while. The amazon delivery people left it more than 20 feet from my back door, so know that you are going to getting this bad boy TO the house and into the house by yourself. Since the box says what is in it, you dare not risk leaving it outside unless you want someone to take it home with them, “Look, honey, a new freezer! Let’s pull up and load it into the car.” Anyway, the listings for how much it holds are GREATLY exaggerated. It holds what your normal fridge freezer holds and NOTHING more than that. It is the exact same amount of interior space. So I moved the big turkey into the bottom. The turkey barely fit in, but did with some finagling. It is NOT a large bird. So I’m moving most of my meat in here, though I can’t find container that will fit it. I thought a dishpan would work but it is TOO SMALL TO HOLD A DISH PAN. Just know that. Right now I’ll just put the food in fabric grocery bags and at least that way it is sorted (beef, chicken, vegetables, fish) so I won’t have to get in and out of it too often. Do NOT get the 3.5 size, get at least the next size up, 5.0. I didn’t because the cost was out of my budget. I’m grateful to have a freezer, don’t get me wrong, but had I ordered a month ago, I could have gotten the next size up for $30 less than what I paid for this scrawny freezer. Oh, the weight: 42 pounds, not 48 as listed on the description. The height is about counter height, less than 2 feet wide, less than 2 feet deep. Good thing the weight wasn’t any more than it was or I could not have gotten it in the house. I will update after I have used it a while.

Works and looks great – would make a great gift for new parents!
Bought this after I had an oversupply of breast milk and works great! Would have made a great baby registry gift. Was shipped in perfect condition and was very impressed! UPS had to double check the weight limit or how big it was for everyday delivery but it checked out and they delivered it. Everything was easy for a big purchase. The space inside the freezer is deeper than probably what the picture shows. We are happy with this purchase!

So far so good. (Working great, one month in.)
WHAT I LIKE:Energy efficiency.Relatively small footprint.Works well. Freezes food and keeps it frozen.Relatively lightweight. It was easy for me to move it into my basement.PROBLEMS:No auto defrost. When it’s time to defrost I’ll have to unplug it. But I knew that when I bought it. For a low price, you can’t have everything.ALL IN ALL:A good freezer for the price. Then again, I’ve only had it for a month. If any problems develop, I’ll update this review.

It freezes. Cold.
Small workhorse. I don’t adjust or fiddle with temp, I just want things kept frozen colder than the refrigerator freezer. I don’t know exactly what degree the temp is at nor do I care. The stuff is frozen. Hard. I doubt it’s below 0F and good, I don’t want my stuff to be any lower. I don’t store food for any more than maybe in some cases a year but I try to not have them in there more than a couple months. It’s out in my shop so I don’t monitor it constantly nor should I have to. I’ve had it a few months and so far, works as expected. Set up as per instructions, giving it a couple inches of space at the back. Then plugged it in, turned it on. Waited overnight to be sure it had cooled properly, then put some meat in. It keeps food frozen with no hassles. I’m from much further south than this so for me, it’s ‘only’ been in the low 90’s F here this year while at my former home, it’s 100 and that’s not really so unusual in spite of the news freaking out over it. But they mostly only really care about the weather in New York and Los Angeles, not even acknowledging those southern states in between.Sometimes in winter it can get to 7 or lower here. The extra fridge that’s out there quit when it got that low. This freezer is of the sort that should not but I haven’t had it through a winter yet.

Replacement and expansion Freezer
I bought a house that spent three years on the market after a bank took foreclosed on it. Big house, at a steal. LITERALLY kitchen value is half of what I paid for the whole house. 4700 sq ft, 200K USD, and a kitchen chalk full of MONOGRAM and PROFILE appliances… that so happen to be 15 years old. SO… you know, things break down with age. Had people out here to work on the fridge already. The freezer was the first to go, even with a brand new gasket on the door. SO, I bought this back in April this year and glad I did.Pros:-The size is perfect for a single man.-As others have said, super quiet. Even when you’re on top of it, it barely makes a sound.-Bought a wireless thermostat, while it never reaches the -20 I have it set to, it’s cold enough for my needs, I think it topped out at -10F (even though this said -28C, it gets to about -23C) not a huge bummer.-Thanks to this it saved me when my fridge just recently completely died (even though I pretty much replaced all the key parts to it: motherboard, relay, compressor. WHATEVER, annoying).Cons:-Weak magents in the gasket. Those need to be a lot stronger for this style of freezer. Luckily I only own about a thousand or so neodymium/rare earth magents (LITERALLY NOT AN EXAGGERATION). SO… NO issues there. I used a flat gun magnet with two 1.25in D circular magents to compensate for the plastic edging on it and it works great. The gun magnet has a 40LB pull so it’s nice, minimal and strong making accidental opening a non-issue. Also helps fight bags of veggies pushing against it. What’s nice is, I can easily remove the modification without damage to the unit. Otherwise, I don’t know how realistically you could add a latch to this without compromising insulation.- Echoing others complaints about lack of storage/ organizing options, It comes with a wire basket, and that’s it.I recommend it, though maybe not from Amazon. LOWES sells this brand, usually at cheaper prices. I got super lucky and mine got delivered in mint condition, even the box was undamaged. BUT as someone who orders dog dental treats from Amazon, and stopped ordering plastic storage containers from Amazon due to them constantly coming to me shattered, same with RARE bluray releases. I would say hop over to Lowe’s and get this, it’s great. I love mine. AND YES, I do wish there were more storage/organizing options.

More than happy with my purchase!
This little beauty arrived today and I was scared that it was going to have some damage cosmetically, but it didn’t and UPS delivered it two days early. I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase. She’s humming now and cooling down quickly since I’ve plugged it in.I’m surprised at how big 3.5 cubic feet really is, and for my needs as a single individual, it’s plenty of storage space. I think that you too, will find this freezer more than ample for your needs as a single person, or perhaps two people.Thank you Midea for making such a fine product at a reasonable price… I’m a very happy camper!

Great freezer
I recently purchased a chest freezer, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in many ways. The storage capacity is fantastic; I can easily fit a week’s worth of groceries in it. It runs quietly and efficiently, which is a huge plus. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the interior could use more organization options. Overall, a great investment for anyone in need of extra freezer space!

Great little investment! For a great price.
I am so glad I have invested in this small size deep freezer. It arrived very well despite the comments I have read about a few lil damages here and there. Yet mine came well packaged and delivered pretty fast. I was trying to decide on a bigger one or stay small plus my refrigerator was having issues so I decided on a small one. The unboxing made it seem bigger or wider, and bringing it into the house was very easy. My daughter and I got it in not to heavy at all. Plug it up was it got cool fast within 30 seconds it was getting super cold. There is a knob on the bottom where you can control how high or low you want the freezer I keep mine right in the middle. The higher it goes I find you get a little snow build up (which it comes with a little hand scraper to remove the frost.) At the very bottom it has a plug where u can open it when your defrosting it…energy efficiency will I wouldn’t know I dont pay for the electric. Its very deep when I am putting food in there I feel like I’m going to fall in lol and I’m 5’4…the inside is narrow from the floor up to the second level but once you stock your food in (I lay mine flat side by side also I use freezer seal bags. So I get even more space. It hold ALOT I had mine pack to the brim when my refrigerator was being repaired.) Fits in a nice corner my is in my walkway it’s so small in size people dont even notice it and ask where it is. I am planning on getting another one to go side by side. The other will be just for my meats and fish. Yes your right I should have brought a larger one but doing the measurements it wouldn’t fit right. But it’s a great investment do it go ahead now…..what are you going for click that buy button….JUST DO IT!

Very pleased. Only minor cosmetic issue. Worth the purchase.
So I was very nervous about ordering the 7 cubic foot freezer. I saw many reviews of purchases being dented badly. I was stressing waiting for it to arrive. Took about 6 days to get here. Overall, I’m very pleased with my freezer. I let it set upright for a full 24 hours before I plugged it in. It traveled from Canada so there was no telling how many times or how long it could have set the wrong way. This freezer is very quiet and gets -8° below 0. (I purchased a seperate freezer thermometer as this does not come with one.)The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the 2 dents on the unit. One by the freezer handle and the other at the bottom. You can see them in the pictures. Also, because it wobbles. I looked underneath, there are only 2 adjustable legs that screw in to help level it out. Not sure if there should be 4, as the right side has this bar thing. But even if there are only supposed to be 2, one of the the screw legs is crooked. Looks like an assemby issue. I unscrewed it completely as I saw it was crooked and tried rethreading it to straighten it out but it seems as if the inside part you screw it into was installed at an angle. This makes the screw leg thingy set crooked and the unit wobble slightly. I just folded up some paper and slid it under the corner diagonal from it and the teetering stopped. So, all in all, the unit itself worls perfect. I am pleased with it. Had it running a little over a week and have had no issues thus far. No frosting on the inside. No condensation on the outside (I live in south Mississippi where the summers are anywhere from 40% to 90% humidity and its 98+° outside. And I have the unit placed right inside (behind) my apartment front door in the dining area.

Don’t place in garage or storage area. Read my comment.
The reviews were low but I wanted to learn more as it was the perfect size for what I needed. Independently I learned about ‘ambient temperature.’ This would be very important as other reviewers said “motor died” after short time. I called the manufacturer to ask about “ambient temperature.’ She didn’t know, but would ask supervisor. Got my answer & stayed with my intention of keeping it in the house. If the placement location temperature is between 50 & 100 degrees, it will work fine. If it goes under or over, for a while, then the motor will work too hard to keep at your setting & die. It can’t take those temperatures. Garages or sheds, unless insulated get too hot (So. Calif.), other areas it might be too cold. I hope you learned something from my efforts. Keep my fingers crossed and the motor is not defective, no matter where I put it. Also no power light to let you know it’s on and no inside light but that’s OK. Bought a little hanging freezer thermometer. Oh, yes it’s VERY quiet.

5 cu. ft. is a great size!
Two of us are living in a condo and I knew I wanted a chest freezer for the garage. I was debating between the 5 and 7 cu.ft. models and I made the right choice. The smaller of the two holds a LOT of food. I ran out and bought a small turkey and all kinds of sale items that included meats and veggies and 2 pies and ice cream…and there is room for SO MUCH MORE! I really wish this Midea 5 cu. ft freezer came with two baskets instead of one, but other than that, I am very pleased with my choice thus far. It arrived two days after I ordered it, in perfect condition, and I was able to “walk” it into my garage by myself. I am a 5’2″, 75 year-old woman. Living in NE Ohio with winter approaching, I can now hibernate if necessary. It should only increase my monthly electric bill by $2 to $2.50 per month. I set it to High initially, but after reading other comments, I feel comfortable turning it down to the Medium setting. I am well pleased with this purchase.

Damaged but Working
Freezer was received in very timely manner. Unfortunately it was damaged. The back side as, seen in picture, has a large crease running from top to bottom. Also, minor dents in top and lower front. Dents don’t seem to have affected the function. The manual is completely useless as it is written in spanish and I don’t read in spanish. But that didn’t matter anyway as it was the wrong manual. Had to download correct ,english manual from internet. I don’t know how I would return this for an undamaged one as the shipping carton was destroyed when we remove the freezer. Yellow energyguide tag estimates it only uses $26 in electricity per year. It’s a nice size for small spaces; just enough to store all of my Gormet Pelosi ice cream. Seems to be working great so I guess I’ll just keep it.

Very good 1st impression!
So i havnt used it long i actually just plugged it in but i can say this. When i ordered it from the pictures it looks smaller than what it really is. You could easily fit a years worth of packaged meats into this freezer and probably more if you unpack your meats and bag them granted this is based on my family of 4’s eating habits. Now onto my 1st impression well it is nicer looking in person i was honestly surprised and the packaging was very simple you cut the straps holding the box together and lift the box up and it comes right off because the bottom is open granted there is thick styrofoam under the unit and the straps hold it in there very well. No lie i plugged this unit in and not even 60 seconds went by and it was already cold to the touch where you wount want to keep touching it lol. Also i have amazon prime and it said to day delivery and i ordered this freezer yesterday lol so shipping was half the expected time. Granted this is all my 1st impression if anything happens or doesnt happen i will update this review with updated info for the better or worse.

Surprisingly Light but COLD
When this arrived, I was shocked by how lightweight the large box was. In fact, I’m a disabled veteran and was able to get this out of the packaging and into position without any help! Once plugged in, I put a freezer thermometer in to check it before raiding our local grocer. After 24 hours, I opened the freezer to see that it was somewhere between -15F and -20F. Cold enough! We went to our grocer; loaded up on beef, chick and pork; vacuum-sealed it all in dated portions; and stuffed the freezer full. If everything goes south in a handbasket in this country, at least we have an emergency supply! This freezer is compact and holds a lot for its size. I bought wire freezer baskets in which to sort the contents. The included top basket we use for bacon, hot dogs and other immediate-use items. We’re so far very pleased with this freezer, and highly recommend it to anyone hoping to store frozen meats, fruits and vegetables.

Great gift
I bought this for my kids for Christmas. They do not live with us, so I had it in our guest room on a roll, so my Christmas morning I just rolled it out and we wrapped it, they were so surprised they could not figure out what it was so I just had him unwrap it and then pack it in your car and take it home and pull it out so it was the perfect gift. If you plan on giving your kids something this is a perfect gift by them.

Purchased this freezer because I needed some extra room for frozen foods in the house. Upon receiving, the product was easy to put together and to start working. Well worth the price
I use it to complement my stand up freezer, so I don’t need to overload it, given that I open and close it so often. The chest freezer stays shut until I need to add something to the stand up. A chest freezer wouldn’t do it by itself. I have a thermometer and I check all my refrigeration regularly. It is right-on. Maximum electricity is about 150 watts or 1.5 amps, what an incandescent light bulb would draw. I got it when I realized that my stand-up was running 24 hours during the summer. The chest freezer will add years to the life of my main freezer, which I bought used.

This is a great condo sized freezer.
My husband is a very good fisherman. Every time we opened the kitchen freezer vacuum packed packages of fish/crab would tumble out. He would start swearing and I decided to surprise him with this freezer. It arrived well packed/protected with no dents anywhere. Cut the tape on the bottom and the whole carton top lifts off. I put it where I wanted it, not heavy, and let it sit two hours as instructed. Plugged the freezer in and started right up and was cold quickly. I purchased the WenZBros 16inch Freezer Wire Storage Baskets (3) from Amazon and those fit perfectly. Now the different types of fish are organized/dated in each basket and easily accessible. There is still room for one if not two more baskets as well as the one that came with the freezer. Also it is so QUIET! We are both happy with this little freezer.

Has held up over time. Customer service was great.
I bought this chest freezer back in 2017. I fish often and wanted something separate from my other freezers to store my catches. This was the perfect size, and I liked that it was relatively inexpensive, minimalistic from a design/features standpoint and very user friendly (read: foolproof).Since I bought it, I’ve moved twice, had this in storage for one long stretch and I have moved it a couple of times in my current house. It has now been in my garage for the better part of 4 years, and it has really been excellent.I have had no issues or concerns with it, and the fact that it handles the crazy fluctuations in temperature in my garage is awesome. The high heat and humidity over the past couple of weeks have caused it to build up some frost, so I’m going to go ahead and defrost it this week and give it a reset. I haven’t done that in years so probably overdue.I did notice that the door gasket was a bit discolored and it wasn’t coming off when I went to clean it. I called Midea and was able to have them ship me out a replacement relatively cheaply. The call to them took about 5 minutes and they said I should have it within two days…so that’s a customer service win in my book. I had no issues paying for it because the old gasket isn’t exactly broken and I’m well outside any warranty period.I don’t usually come back to products this many years later and write reviews, but the fact that I still have it and I’m still using it should say something. At this price point, I think it’s hard to beat the value here. It does what a freezer should without you needing to do much with it. Would highly recommend and would purchase again if needed.

Works well, great price, lots of storage space, freezer arrived in perfect shape
If you frequent places like Costco where you get lots of frozen food, seafood, meats in bulk, this freezer will be your best friend. I got the 3.5 cu freezer and was amazed how much stuff I can dump in there. I have a top freezer refrigerator, and I can move everything from the refrigerator’s freezer to this 3.5 cu mini freezer and there are still plenty space left. I love the hands-free-door-stays-open design so I can use both hands to dig food out. You don’t need the coldest setting to freeze food, I had the setting at the minimal and everything is frozen solid in there. It makes noticeable noise when the compressor is on, but no louder than my home refrigerator. I think this freezer will certainly save me money on the long run because I don’t have to go shopping as frequently as before.

Works Great
Unit keeps below zero temperature on the medium setting. Runs very quiet. I was thinking of getting a bigger freezer, but decided to get 2 smaller units – less chance of both failing at the same time. Since the user manual is not clear about any time delay start after a power failure, I have it it plugged into a delay start unit just in case the power goes on and off, to keep the compressor from burning out.

Good small chest freezer
It’s a perfect small chest freezer for a small apartment. It uses low energy. It came 1 day earlier than expected but they just delivered it and put it outside my lobby. Did not ring my door bell or notify me. A neighbor brought it in and told me about the delivery. I’ve made notes for Amazon not to leave any deliveries outside the building but to bring it inside even gave them the access code. There was just 1 small dent in the back of freezer but it works fine. It got cold very quickly and I only have it dialed halfway. Not too big, just a nice size for 1-2 people.

Relationship longer than my 1st marriage
I bought this freezer back in 2016 and it is still going strong as the day it was unboxed! It has been through 3 moves and still keeps things colder than my ex-MIL’s heart! In all seriousness, this little freezer is perfect for 1-3 people. It is light enough to be moved by one person to clean behind. Super quiet to the point where I have triple checked to make sure it was plugged in!Only “down side” is that I lost the scraper it came with, it’s been 7 years!

So Quiet, I thought it was Defective!
I have had this freezer now for about 6 weeks, and I’ll tell you what. I LOVE IT!Yes, when I first got it, I noticed a small dent on the front. Not a deal breaker. When I plugged it in, I was very disappointed as nothing happened. No sounds at all. I’m thinking I got a DUD! Now, the only thing running through my head was how I going to send this darn thing back! After about 5 minutes, I did notice the bottom getting cold, so I let it run. After 45 minutes, my thermometer showed -10 F. I reduced the knob to about 3/4, and it’s been keeping steady at -10 F since. This thing runs so quietly, you’d be hard pressed to know its even on! Best yet, no difference in my electric bill. I don’t know why I did not buy one of these things long ago. I hesitated buying the 3.5 Cu, because I thought it would be too small. Boy, was I wrong! If you have a refrigerator with a top freezer (like me), this chest freezer has to be at least 3-times the volume! Only my wife and I, and I have yet to fill this thing to the top! Yet, we always seem to have plenty of food in the house. This thing is great for freezing several loaves of bread, which would be impossible in my small freezer. Bread takes up a lot of room! I really feel this freezer would suffice for families of 4 or less. I enjoy having this freezer, I found it a great value, and am glad I bought it.

Good value
So far so good. Purchased this for my mother. It’s incredibly light making it quite easy to install. We’ve left it at the lowest setting this far and it’s freezing things like a champ. It’s only been a month or so, but so far I’m pleased with the unit.

Plenty of room, shelves and baskets.
Purchased for daughter and family. Refrigerator freezer not enough for 6 people. This freezer doesn’t take a lot of space.

The one sold by Costco is better and costs about $100 less
I originally saw the Midea 7 cu ft chest freezer at Costco but decided to buy it from AMAZON because they offered upstairs delivery for an additional delivery fee of $21 for theirs. I wrongly thought they were the same unit. But after it was purchased, delivered and installed by AMAZON, I ‘ve been disappointed because their version visibly lacks 2 important things which are apparently standard issue on the Midea from Costco: 1) an interior light mounted on the underside of the freezer door which allows one to see what’s IN the freezer and 2) a bright green indicator light located at the front/bottom of the unit which tells you the freezer is running (especially useful during electrical storms and threatening power outages). These are both very helpful and important features which I wish I’d been aware of before ordering from AMAZON. Especially since the one which I purchased from AMAZON cost me a WHOLE LOT MORE $$! Be forewarned, folks, do your research and compare features as well as price.

WORTH IT.
I bought this because my breastmilk took over my freezer & I had no space for groceries! This came to the rescue. I didn’t want nothing so big that would take up so much space and this is absolutely the perfect size and worth what I spent. Great little investment.

Great freezer – bad manual…
Good freezer, though I think the instructions need to be better… It seems that when the freezer is set to MAX, there is some kind of quick-freeze setting that is not mentioned in the manual. With my freezer, I set the temperature to MAX on the initial use, because it is hot out here in the desert, even in the middle of winter. The freezer refused to go below 10 degrees with about 4 gallons of water inside. In fact, it would go down to 10, then drift back up to 20, before going back to 10.I moved the freezer, thinking it was not getting enough airflow, and it did the same thing, after testing for two days, I shut it off. The next day, I turned it back on, but only set it to medium. With a few hours, it was at 0 degrees, and by the next day it was below zero.I think the MAX setting must runt the compressor constantly, then cycle the compressor off after a while to avoid overheating it, while the lower settings can turn the compressor on and off at will.Again, this was not mentioned in the manual, but another brand of freezer I have has a similar setting, so I should have known. (Should be stated in the manual though.)I did let the freezer stand for over 24 hours before using it to avoid problems from shipping, though the manual only recommends 2 hours. That seems insufficient, and I would recommend at least 24. Also, the manual states that “too much food” can cause the freezer to run inefficiently. Yes, if packed too tight to allow airflow, i think this is true, but the fuller a freezer is, the better it operates in my understanding. Later it warns against adding too much warm food at a time, which is a separate case.In any case, the manual could use some serious improvement, but the freeze itself works great..

Impressive!
I was impressed that not only did this arrive quickly but it arrived without any dents or scratches and was packaged and delivered with care which I really appreciate. It’s easy to unpack and set up and you only need to plug it in and set the temperature after a manufacturer recommended half hour of settling time before plugging in. Setting the right temperature is the tricky part. I set my temperature gage to 3/4 of the way to max like others suggested and that worked out fine. I put a bottle of water in to test out the freezing process before putting food in. So far it’s working beautifully and holds a lot of food for the size! I put in two 15 pound turkeys, four frozen pies, about 10 pounds of other meats and about 10 pounds of frozen vegetables and still had loads of room left over! Impressive!

Arrived dented
I just received my chest freezer. It seems to be getting cold. It is dented in the front though there was no damage to the shipping box. I don’t know why they don’t wrap the freezer in bubble wrap. Having trouble trying to register the product.

The Perfect Deep Freezer
Having a big family requires lors of food. Our refrigerator doesn’t hold nearly enough, so my wife and i were looking for a deep freezer that wasn’t too big or bulky, but at the same time held a reasonable amount of frozen food(s).My wife found this one on Amazon , and admittedly I was skeptical. At this price I figured it would hold as much as our small refrigerator.I was completely wrong. This freezer holds more than enough. It has a basket that also quick access and lots of storage space.I would recommend this deep freezer to anyone looking.
