    Easy to use. Satisfying taste.

I was skeptical having been very dissatisfied with the Keurig-style coffees. But I was pleasantly surprised at the taste level I experienced with L’OR’s expresso.

One of the BEST purchases I have made!

Even if and I sure hope it doesn’t but even if this broke down tomorrow I would immediately buy it again! It literally paid for itself the first 2 weeks I owned it. I even took it on vacation with me to an Air BnB with my family and we all used it in between trips to local coffee shops in Colorado it works wonderfully! The one and only draw back is you can only use pods available fortunately I love PEETS pods/coffee so when I need a chang in flavor once in a while I still keep the local shops brewing! I just don’t spend ALL my money at them anymore ha!

Just buy it! You won’t regret it

I went back and forth on several of these machines for a while, and during that time went to get coffee probably 50 times. My desire to drive to a coffee shop has disappeared since owning this. It’s been almost two weeks of making lattes at home, and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. No regrets at all.

The best coffee experience so far!

The machine is relatively quiet and takes two size pods! And the coffee is just perfect! You get a choice of 3 size cups starting from espresso and they all taste rich and not watered down. The customer service on the site is really helpful and responsive! I can’t recommend this enough

    The very best

If I remember correctly years ago that she used to be in one of the expensive clothing departments at the mall, not Macy’s and not JCPenney but Saks fifth Avenue or one like that anyway it was a very expensive machine and once I saw the price of it immediately bought it for my boyfriend because he tried it in the store that day and I think it used to be like $800. I could be wrong but I don’t think so. It was a while ago And what a difference between this and the Keurig, the smell, the taste everything about it and it looks sexy on the counter it’s not big and bulky and if you get the one that makes it espresso espresso taste great and they have one where you can make the latte also I don’t have that one. I should’ve got that one but in the future when we build a house I’ll get one for upstairs and one for Down Stairs

    Buy it!!!!

This product was so easy to assemble and learn how to use. There are also easy videos if you need help. The coffee is truly some of the best coffee I’ve ever had! I am so happy to save money on $7 cups of coffee that aren’t even half as good as this. BUY THIS! I’m excited to get out bed, I’ll drink this without creamer. It is delicious!

    No regrets

So I had seen some reviews for this and it seemed to be like it would be a good machine. It lives up to the hype! My fiancé and I are obsessed with this machine, both the coffee and espresso is fantastic. Absolutely love the design of it, how the cups dispose into the machine itself, and the milk frother is great too. Definitely happy with this product, no regrets on this one!

    Excellent espresso/coffee

Fantastic coffee but a very cheap, plasticky machine and oh my goodness that heavy duty cord is like wrestling a tiger to make it fit behind the machine. Also, kinda noisy.

Edited: Grease caked in pod area upon unpackaging

After posting the initial review, the seller reached out to make the situation right. I appreciate the quick response and great customer service. Judging by the good reviews, I think our situation wasn’t the norm for this item.Other than the grease, it’s slim and attractive. A little deeper than I assumed but still takes up less space than our original espresso machine. After spending several hours trying to remove the grease, I think that I got it all out and feel somewhat safe enough to try it out. We bought several pods – even some nespresso pods, so I really don’t want to trash it. Based on the customer service alone – I’d give this machine a chance.—Whelp – this is gross.I was excited to unbox our machine. I opened the lid and it is full of a white grease. We ran hot water through it several times, it didn’t budge. What a disappointment

    Stopped working after 5 months

I loved this espresso maker and used it every day! The past week it started making a loud noise. I went and bought the descaler thinking I needed to clean it. It would not run the descale cycle and then it finally stopped working. So disappointed. It only lasted 5 months.Edit: The company reached out to me and issued me a refund. I actually bought a different brand but am returning it and going to purchase another L’OR Barista System Coffee and Espresso Machine Combo by Philips. I really liked the machine. I’m hoping it was just a bad machine.

Bit noisy and big but very well at 6 months

Very versatile system and brew full size coffee as well with double sprout , a feature that’s rare for capsule machines. To clean I usually drop the capsule, close and run plain hot water using the smallest size to make sure sprouts and paths are clean. Make tasty beautiful espresso.

    Love my Barista!

Really love this Barista espresso machine! I combine the espresso’s with coffee & add a delicious holiday liquid creamer which makes a very delicious cup of coffee! I have a Keurig & I have to say I’m enjoying this Barista a lot more lol. One of my favorite things is the crema it makes, definitely would recommend this machine!

    Most excellent!

After holding out for years, I finally broke down and bought the L’or system. I chose this one because it has pods that make a full 14 oz cup of coffee. It can also use the smaller expresso sized pods and will even take the Nespresso brand. It’s super easy to set up and use. I found these beautiful, double-walled mugs that hold 20 oz (also on Amazon) and are perfect for when I use the frother. I’m very happy with my purchases (L’or coffee machine, the L’or frother and the lovely mugs). A great way to start my mornings.

    Great alternative to Nespresso!

I wore out two Nespresso Pixie machines and saw at Christmas this was on a daily special so I read the reviews and got it. I think I paid $115.So far I am very pleased with the machine overall. It makes hot coffee, it has 3 size options even if using the espresso pods as opposed to Nespresso Pixie two sizes espresso options. If you want a regular sized coffee, L’Or makes Coffee pods that give you that option, but fit in the same space as the espresso pods. Very clever .I myself use espresso pods to make a regular but small coffee by adding cream and sugar. The cons:You can’t take the machine apart to really clean it. I’ve had a couple of capsules tear apart and grounds have gotten into the pod holder area and into the machine and it’s difficult to really clean it out.Another is the machine drips a lot of water before and after a cycle so you do need to empty the overflow areas frequently.Neither of these things is a big deal.I’m not a big fan of the L’OR pods. I haven’t found one I think is as rich and satisfying as some of the Nespresso Original ones and now my newest discovery Peet’s original style pods.I think this machine though, if you’re looking for the Original, is as good or better than the Nespresso. And if you find a L’OR regular coffee pod you like then it does double duty, which the Nespresso machines do not, they offer either an espresso machine or a coffee machine, with each requiring completely different pods styles. but not one that does both.I will add, though I wasn’t a big fan of the L’OR coffee pods, they were still better than the Nespresso Verturo pods which I found to be very bitter across the board.I ended up selling my Verturo machine and just stuck the original pods. I’m glad I at least have options with the L’OR machine now.

    Great product. Would recommend.

Great coffee. Shocker, it’s bitter. No kidding! It’s coffee, not a Starbucks vanilla bla blah latte. Just coffee!! And the espresso, guess what? Stronger coffee, more bitter. Folks complaining the coffee doesnt taste like X brand is cracking me up. I’ve traveled too, drank coffee/espresso around the world, lived off coffee as a staple of a military life. Used Kuerig, instant coffee(just plain convenience) and visited various establishments here in the states. This brand is indeed produces a fantastic cup O’Joe every time. ‘It’s loud’ – Duh! It’s an espresso machine. It’s brewing and frothing the mix. Many likes their local coffee shop and swear by their coffee. Tell me, how quiet are their shops? You want quiet, get an old fashion drip pot or use French press.‘Makes farting noises and lights flashing’ – doesn’t work! I had this happen to me and did a little trouble shooting. It worked one minute, stopped the next. Upon further inspection, (Solution) I refilled the water tank and replaced it. It had not seated properly and was sucking in air, thereby making the farting noises. I reseated the water tank firmly on the machine and it worked without issues.‘The pods are too expensive’ considering what you are getting, the price of the pods is the same as any other pod type machines, if not cheaper. We are paying for convenience here. One cup at a time and fancy coffees? You want cheap one cup brews, Go back to instant coffee or brew yourself a 12 cup pot.All in all, I’ll recommend this machine every time.

    Very flexible coffee maker

We had a Nespresso that broke down prematurely. We had capsules left and wanted a single-shot coffee maker that could make coffee and expresso-style drinks. This fits the bill. We have different sizes of capsules for different purposes. It is very flexible. We like it.

    Strength

We were recently in France and the hotel and apartment we stayed in used this machine and coffee. I used another pod coffee maker and gave it up and went back to a regular coffee pot because the coffee was always weak . But this was great . We even went to store to buy more coffee and found a flavor we loved . So when we got home we ordered one . Hopefully it all tastes as good as it did in France . Plus you can make espresso or coffee .

    Good machine, spectacular customer service

I have two of the L’OR Barista machines that get constant use. I am used to these types of machines (Nespresso, Phillips, etc), and rate the operation of the Barista as comparable = fine. One of my machines developed a pump problem and I contacted customer service…still under warranty and registered (always a good idea with small appliances). Really responsive service….sent e-Mail with required information (easy since registered on the L’OR site). Two days later had a replacement unit at my door….full 10 days before they even sent a UPS return label for the problem unit. That is a 5-star response!

Great machine! L’Or brand coffee needs improvement

So after my $200 Kuerig died for the second time, I decided I would never buy another Kuerig again. Though to be fair, it may be because I descaled using vinegar which I since found out is not very effective and can damage certain metals. I also have a super-automatic espresso machine, but if I want to drink multiple cups of coffee, I can’t do that with espresso or I get major caffeine overload (thank God I’ve never descaled with vinegar on this one).I actually compared between 3 different machines: L’Or, Nespresso Vertuo, and Lavazza Classy. I ended up buying 2 out of the 3 on accident, but that’s all right it allowed me to compare. This is what I like about the L’Or Barista:1. Has a 2-year warranty. Everyone else is 1 year2. Appeared they may have decent customer service if something goes wrong based on reviews3. Has 2 pod sizes available to choose from4. Is compatible with Nespresso original pods5. You can dispense just plain old water (I believe N brand does not)6. Extracts coffee with 19 bars of pressure as espresso should be (Note that this does equate into a noisy machine).7. 6 drink sizes to choose from8. Brews coffee hot! Just about too hot if you ask me as I almost burn my tongue if I try to drink it too quickly after brewing and don’t cool it down with cream.9. Aluminum pods10. Caffeine content seems to be relatively high. I’ve gotten a caffeine buzz from these. What I don’t like or not as appealing:1. The biggest coffee mug you’ll be able to fit is somewhere around 12 oz, though this is not a deal breaker for me.2. Really, I think the only disappointment I’ve had to far is that I don’t like how the L’Or brand coffee tastes. Out of the 5 big coffee pods, maybe the light roast has the best flavor but then it gets a little watered down if you add cream and sugar. The large pods seem like they have been artificially enhanced to be creamier but the machine does in fact produce a lot of crema. More so than my other machines. I feel like they leave an unappealing aftertaste. But could be just me.Out of the small pods, so far just Columbia and Papa New Guinea but I will keep trying them. The Absolou? is starting to taste better to me.I bought 5 large coffee pods and 7 different smaller espresso pods. I’m also going to branch out and try some of the Nespresso Original pods and see if those taste better and I can find a favorite. But overall the smaller pods taste better than the larger pods and seem like normal coffee/espresso to me.As a side note- the photos using the beaker mug is showing the largest coffee size.

Great substitute to an older Nespresso machine

Works better than a Nespresso Issignia , it has 19bar pressure, 3 water dosages and a more updated designed than a basic Nespresso machine for a lower price. And it’s made and guaranteed by Philips, a worldwide well known home and industrial electronic equipments.Besides m, you can order larger coffee pods from L’or and prepare regular coffee instead of expresso, with the same coffee machine.

    The best coffee

Got the L’OR Barista System because I was intrigued by the high pressure brewing system and the fact that it was considerably less than some of the other comparable systems (Nespresso). I gave up on K-cups a long time ago as that is just bad coffee! I had been grinding my coffee fresh every morning and using a drip coffee maker, so I was a little hesitant to try another “pod” type of coffee maker. I couldn’t be happier with the L’OR Barista. It makes absolutely delicious coffee and espresso, although I use it for coffee mostly since I’m not a big espresso drinker. My son on the other hand loves the espresso.

    Nice Upgrade

I replaced a Nespresso Citiz with this L’Or and absolutely love it. 1) It is much quieter; 2) It makes coffee and espresso of varying sizes using either L’Or, Peets or Nespresso original pods; 3) The temperature of the espresso or coffee was hotter and it seems to make a more intensely flavorful coffee/espresso. In short, this purchase was an upgrade to a clesrly superior machine. It also was priced at 1/2 the cost of Citiz when purchased a few years ago.

Great machine; compatible with original Nespresso pods

I love that I can use Illy and Lavazza espresso pods. I wasn’t so crazy about the l’Or ristretto pods. The milk frother does not warm the milk enough, but the machine makes great espresso of three sizes. So far I haven’t found a coffee pod I like in the L’OR. I’m going to keep trying different L’OR and Peet’s L’Or pods. Unfortunately L’Or coffee pod setting is not compatible with most coffee pods out there. I hope other coffee vendors will produce L’OR compatible coffee pods.

The best purchase of the year!

I have researched several different machines, and finally settled on this one. I’m extremely happy with the product and the quality. I may never order out for coffee again! It will pay for itself before the end of the month based on my coffee habit. I have told everyone I am around about it and at least 3 people have ordered and feel the same! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!!

    I love it

Huge step up from the keurig coffee tastes better, 1 coffee pod and 1 espresso pod makes about 20oz. That’s perfect for me 20oz mug I fill in the morning. I like the fact that the pods are aluminum and not plastic like the Keurig heating plastic up and drinking out of it you’re probably consuming a lot of chemicals so that’s big for me. I use oat milk as a sweetener because I don’t drink milk and the machine you can tell it’s not made cheap it has quality to its manufacturing. The machine disposes of the Pod for you it’s so convenient

    Great coffee and expresso maker!

This was an early Christmas present from my husband. I love the bold strength of the coffee. I have not tried the expresso yet. Amazing coffee

So I was a little weary of the price. However, once we received it along with a mix package of coffee & espresso pods. The wife and I made multiple cups of coffee to try them all. All I can say is it was worth the money. All of their coffee mixtures are delicious. Another reason we were hesitant was the machine only takes their coffee pods. But all their blends are delicious & high quality beans. Love the chocolate espresso with a mint creamer we bought. Better than Starbucks chocolate mint mocha. For the price you can’t beat it. Thank you LóR for a reasonably priced machine & quality coffee bean pods. Can’t wait to try out some of your coffee recipes on your site. Especially the white chocolate espresso.

    Excellent quality

I absolutely LOVE this coffee machine! It brews quickly and makes quality, hot coffee with a frothy crema top. I especially like that it has three size servings, and the large makes a full, 12-oz. mugful. I haven’t tried the espresso yet, but have no doubt it will be just as good.BTW…for those interested, I also purchased a set of reusable stainless steel capsules that work perfectly. Just be sure to use fine-ground coffee and pack it down tightly to get the best flavor: HAILASRE 2 Pcs Reusable Stainless Steel Coffee Capsules Compatible with L’OR Barista.

    Best Espresso/Coffee Maker I’ve owned

We bought our L’Or almost a year ago and loved it from the start. The setup is simple – it’s three pieces – the machine, the water holder, and the cap for the holder. The other parts are already set up. You do need to run water through the machine multiple times before first use to get rid of the plastic taste. Once done, no issues. The high pressure used in making coffee brings out the full flavor and body of the coffee pods and espresso pods.Originally, we bought Amazon espresso pods since they were inexpensive, good, and fit the machine. Recently, we tried some L’Or pods (you can only get the coffee pods from L’Or). And, they are not much more expensive, and much better. We had one problem with our machine which was corrected in two days. When making a cup of coffee one morning, the water did not flow through. After trying several times, I called L’Or customer service. We did some troubleshooting, and in two days, I had a brand new machine. So, for quality of product and outstanding service, L’Or gets five stars. I highly recommend it.

    Fantastic!

I had not had any plans to buy a pod based coffee maker again. I have a major brand that starts with a K and was never very happy with it. I prefer strong coffee and I always found the coffee from this machine to be weak and not pleasing to my taste. This machine popped up in my Black Friday deals and it had a sizable discount so I was a bit intrigued. The product description really went out of their way to tout the robust coffee flavor and brewing method. When I asked about the flavor strength the vendor again went out of their way to stress their brewing method and pods which they assured me gave good strong flavor. The reviews were uniformly very positive. Given Amazon’s liberal return policy I thought I would give it a try.Set up was a bit quirky. The instructions provided did not cover all the pieces to the machine and I was left trying to figure out how several of the pieces fit together. Specifically the empty pod collection container. I had no idea what it was and where it fit until I saw a completely unrelated diagram that gave me a clue of where it fit. In case you are wondering what I mean – there is a large hollow gray piece that is meant to fit behind the coffee output nozzles. There was also another smaller grey piece that was not detailed in the main instruction page and was referenced on a small separate piece of paper I am almost missed as it was stuck in the bottom of the box. So make sure you look for that.As for the main instructions it felt like they were designed to be language free and only use pictures so that they did not need to have a bunch of different versions. To sum all of this up – the instructions need a separate comprehensive section that details ALL of the pieces and how to properly install them. I also think that the usage instructions might need to be revisited and consider adding some writing in addition to the pictures. (No need to try and be like ikea with their ‘it will take you all day to figure it out instructions’.)Once I got everything put together and running I was impressed with how quickly it got up to temp and ready to brew.Very very pleased with the taste of the coffee. Even the medium strength pods brewed a reasonably robust cup. The strong version was excellent. It also makes a very nice Crema (froth layer) on the top of the cup. I have yet to try the espresso pod, saving them for when I run out of the others as a treat for myself.A nice little touch is the aforementioned used pod receptacle – when you lift the top to put in a new pod it automatically ejects the used pod into the receptacle. Nice usability design. So overall as a coffee maker I think it is fantastic. Minor downside is that because it is so easy to brew a quick cup I might end up drinking too much coffee.Update after one week:(Important) – as mentioned above, used pods are ejected down into the grey container. You need to pay attention how quickly the container fills up because it is easy to lift lever and have it try and force a pod into it and possibly getting stuck. (totally did not happen to me….)I think the water reservoir should be larger. I am getting about 3 cups of coffee before I have to fill it up again. Personally I think it should be large enough to hold 5 cups of water. Thankfully it’s right next to the sink so refilling it’s not really a problem. I just think it will be more convenient with a larger reservoir.Oh BTW – Make sure you grab the coupon that gives you a bunch of free pods. I almost missed that.(Funny side note: I saw the Vine reviews and I am a Vine reviewer, and unfortunately this had not popped up on my available to get list. -We don’t all get the same list of products available for review. So I ended up paying for it.)

Fantastic coffee! Works brilliantly and looks even better!

We have always used Nespresso machines and coffee pods, but wanted to stick to the smaller pods and the newer models are all vertuo, so we looked around and found L’or. The machine is well built and stylish and it is a little quieter than Nespresso. But I was shocked at how tasty the coffee was! Highly recommended and worth the money.

    Best espresso + coffee machine!

I’ve had a Keurig & an espresso machine (off brand), which I felt didn’t offer the best-tasting coffee & espresso. However, this machine especially paired with the LOR brand coffee/espresso capsules makes great-tasting, rich full cups of coffee/espresso. The flavor is unmatched. It’s so good. I love the features of this machine. Great dual sizes for both coffee & espresso, great temperature, self-eject capsule feature after each use. Great for small counters. However, I do wish the water reservoir was larger, only downside, but it’s great for a few cups of each day. Noise is to be expected with these machines, though it’s not too bad. My machine isn’t very noisy at all. Overall, it’s a great purchase & great for pod type coffee/espresso brewing!

    Great value

We bought this instead of the Nespresso because of the huge price difference and value. It seemed extremely simple to use with just the press of a button and i liked the features of showing sizes on top. There was a hand out inside that shows you how to click on which one to get coffee sizes as well. Performance wise it heats up quickly and makes a mean espresso, coffee, ristretto and lungo. The coffee setting measures exactly what it says it’ll pour, and the espresso does not come out watered down or burnt. Overall extremely happy in those regards, also love that the pods are interchangeable. I can use L’OR brand or Nespresso. I have two down sides to this machine though which is why I did a 4/5 stars. 1. It only holds 40oz of water and if two people use the machine and get coffee it drains water extremely quickly. Constantly filling it up in a day. The second is the container for the used capsules. It’s extremely small, doesn’t hold a lot of coffee pods, does just fine with espresso pods but the bigger ones take up a lot of room and cause it to need to be emptied quicker. I think to avoid moisture buildup. It also needs to be placed on the outside, not hidden inside, but I think they’re going for a sleek design.. Overall it’s great besides those two flaws and those are just my personal opinion of things that could be improved. We received it about 2 weeks ago and have not run it through a clean cycle yet.

    Amazing product and customer service

I have loved this thing ever since I got it. It makes Keurig coffee taste like hot garbage. The capsules are a bit more expensive than it cost for a K cup right now, but if you prefer coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting in plastic for months, this is your Barista. After about eight months, it seemed like my water pump stopped working. I called the number for customer service to get some assistance. The number put me right into a queue to speak to someone. No automated menus, no robots. I told the gentleman what I suspected of the coffee maker, and he didn’t even question it. He sent an order for a new coffee maker to swap out with. The very next day, the new coffee maker showed up. They actually overnighted a new one to me before I could even unplug the old one. Many kudos to the customer service team. They’ve definitely got a customer with me.

Mornings will never be the same.

The set-up was a breeze and I like how easy the water tank will be to clean especially compared to my Keurig that broke Thanksgiving morning. The coffee and espresso offerings are delicious, high quality and of different intensity levels. I recommend getting the package with the frother as it really elevates your coffee. The price point was better than the Keurig model I was considering and the pods are higher quality and less expensive than the k-cups. They have a recycling program so you can mail your used pods to be recycled at any UPS location.

    Great Price and FREE Coffee!

I have been shopping for a replacement espresso and coffee machine for quite some time. Most are very pricey and do not offer the quality of brewing and coffee flavor that I am looking for. I was torn between Nespresso and L’OR. Nespresso is a popular brand and a lot of people purchase it but I still wanted something different. So, I decided on the L’OR Brewing System. Not necessarily for the ratings but for the functionality, brewing quality and ease of use from the research I did on the machine. Also, at the time of purchase there was a 20% discount on the machine plus you get 30 free coffee and espresso pods. That was a huge plus. Not many provide pods to try. The system is easy to put together. It has a hidden pod disposal so you do not have to throw away the pods each time you brew coffee and espresso. I usually have to empty it after 4 or 5 uses. It depends on the size of the pods. The system has 3 size settings for espresso and for coffee. The machine is intelligent enough to dispense the right amount of water based on the pod size. But with any machine the larger the cup size, the weaker the coffee, right? Not with this one. The coffee pods brew rich smooth coffee regardless of size. The espresso, I stuck to the small and medium cups to retain flavor. So far, this brewing system has been a wonderful change to how I make my coffee now. I have not been disappointed with any of the coffee so far. I have added pictures of how the brewer looks, the coffee pods and the disposal drawer. As an added bonus, after registering my brewing system, I was given a 50% coupon on coffee pods. And if you sign up with an email address you get 20% off. For some this machine may be too pricey and I get it. There are alternatives out there for a lower price point. But if you can part with the money, this is a very good upgrade.

Delicious Espresso but Don’t Throw your Keurig Away

I’ve had this Barista system for about a month now and find that the espresso is delicious! I use it daily and am glad that I made the purchase. However, the system isn’t perfect, so I’d like to go over a few pros and cons. Overall, though, as much as I enjoy the espresso capsules, I find the coffee capsules to be harsh and bitter. And I am talking really harsh and bitter. I will investigate whether Nespresso coffee capsules are compatible with this machine, as I will not be reordering any of the L’OR coffee capsules–and I purchased all of the flavors. All of the espresso pods, though, are rich, tasty, and worthwhile.Pros:Great tasting Espresso pods. I’ve tried all the intensities, including Ristretto Or Absolu, and Columbian and find the taste(s) outstanding. I like that the intensity levels are listed on each box.The machine is attractive and warms/heats up very quickly. The system is also very, very quiet compared to my Keurig coffee maker that I have. The system recognizes the difference between the espresso and coffee pods, which is great for measuring automatically the amount it dispenses for either small, medium or large cups.I think the pricing per capsule is actually pretty reasonable. Savvy and value shopping can make the pricing even more affordable.Cons:The coffees are bitter and harsh. They have clever names like Bonjour, Provocateur and Le Tigre, but they don’t tell you anything about the coffees except for light, medium or dark. I don’t know if they are 100% arabica beans or robusta, or if they are blended, or really what they are. The vanilla flavored coffee is so harsh, that I was surprised it was actually vanilla, which is one of the smoother spices out there. In a blind taste test, the vanilla flavor was so overpowering, I actually thought it was cinnamon. If you have a Keurig or other coffee maker, don’t throw it away. You’ll still need it. The L’OR system excels in everything except the taste of coffee. Also, since it is designed as an espresso machine, there is not enough room on the bottom platform for a decent sized coffee cup. The platform can be removed for taller cups, which I pretty much need to do every time I use it to make a cup of coffee. One reason the price is relatively affordable (for what it is), is that the unit includes no milk foamer/frother. There are a lot of these available separately for purchase on Amazon through different vendors, at very reasonable prices, and it is absolutely a must have if you like to make cappuccinos or lattes or creative tasting coffees. If you don’t have one, it is imperative that you order one at the same time you order the L’OR barista system, or you will be missing out on most of the machine’s capabilities. The machine is attractive and lightweight but made entirely out of plastic. It looks more substantial than it really is. I hope it will hold up over time because it appears to be very flimsily made. Also, it has a reservoir to hold the empty capsules, but you still have to empty the reservoir about once every 7-10 uses. Nice idea, but only a bit of a time saver. The reservoir that holds the water isn’t very large either but it is more than sufficient for making espresso, which doesn’t use a lot of water (compared to coffee). You won’t get very far with the water reservoir if you’re using the machine primarily for coffee (you can get about two to three large cups of coffee out of it, before refilling). The pods are labeled at the very bottom/underneath of each pod with smooth unlabeled aluminum on top. This makes it very difficult to differentiate one pod from another–especially if you are storing them in a pod/capsule holder. I keep them in the cardboard boxes them come in, so I can differentiate one flavor from another. All of the pictures of the L’OR barista system (in the marketing, on the boxes, etc.) display the L’OR branded coffee mugs or espresso cups. Sadly, none of them are available for purchase. I was hoping to buy these separately, as they look so good with the system but they cannot be purchased at this time. The lungo (coffee) and espresso mugs/cups are available for purchase in England and in Australia, but they are not available for purchase in the United States. Also, the agreements the manufacturer has with each country does not allow the mugs to be shipped overseas, so if you live in the United States, you simply cannot get them. Too bad, as I would buy a set, and they are actually very reasonably priced (overseas). L’OR is missing out on a huge add-on marketing opportunity by not making their branded double-thermal espresso cups and coffee mugs available for purchase. In summary, the L’OR system is terrific for espressos, and lattes and cappuccinos (with separately purchased milk frother/steamer). For coffee, the taste is acidic and bitter, and there are better options out there for making coffee.Recommended. Espresso System made in Romania. Coffee(s) made in France.

    1yr later and still happy!

The media could not be loaded.

I purchased my L’OR Barista in Dec 2023 and a year later I couldn’t be happier with it.In the past, I have gone through the full gamit of buying pod and home espresso machines hoping to find one that could come close to replicating my iced coffee drink that I would typically buy daily from one of our many local coffee stands. I’m in the Seattle area so those stands are pretty much everywhere and the cost adds up.I’ve tried the fancier espresso machines but they were a bit cumbersome, time consuming, messt and inconsistent for me personally. I really just wanted a machine that could give me tasty crema espresso shots without all the hardwork, guessing, and mess. At the time I found the L’OR last year, my monthly coffee expense was averaging around $195.00. (I’m ashamed, trust me).I didn’t have high hopes for this machine, having been through so many other machine breakups but thought I’d give it a try being it was through Amazon and I wouldn’t have to donate it to another friend if things didn’t work out.I ordered the machine where, at the time, it had the option to buy the barista with a heavily discounted multi flavor/intensity espresso and coffee “kit” which, I did. When it arrived, I quickly set it up added water to the tank and made myself 2 shots of their lungo espresso. Fitst thing I noticed was the amount of crema. It was unlike anything I was able to get when pulling shots by hand with my other machines. Again, I don’t claim to be a barista so my past shot failure attempts were likely due to my own competence but the ease and simplicity at which the L’OR was creating these nice shots was exactly what I had been searching for for years! After playing around with the different flavors, strengths and types, I found that the perfect espresso pod for my particular drink was the #10 estremo so I added it my auto ship and never looked back! The machine itself has never caused me any issues. It’s a work horse. I use it daily and it’s never let me down. Are there a few design flaws that I think they could improve on ? Sure.1. The water reservoir placement on the back might be more practical if it was on the side of the machine towards the front for those who keep their machine on the countertop but under cabinets. In order to fill the reservoir, you need overhead access to the back to fill it. You can fill it two ways. Either by lifting the tank straight up and off the machine or by removing the tanks lid to refill it while it’s still attached. Either way, you’ll need adequate space above the machine whenever you refill it if you don’t want to slide the entire machine out from under lower cabinets everytime.2. The tanks reservoir lid itself can be a bit finicky. The lid sits flush inside the top of the tank without any handle to grasp onto when taking it off or putting it back on. This poor design makes it very easy to drop the lid directly into the tank when either pulling the lid off or putting it back on. I’ve contemplated super gluing something to the top of the lid itself so I can actually grip onto it to avoid dropping into the tank. It’s happened to me an annoying amount of times and I’d seen others complain of this in their reviews as well.3. Design of the internal empty pod bin is sort of well…blegh, I guess? I have a couple gripes about it. It does fill up rather quickly and you won’t realize you need to empty it until you go and pull up the lever to insert a new coffee pod and it “jams” which by design, the lever you lift up lowers and flips the pod basket upside down to empty the last used pod into the bin directly below it. However if the empties stack up too high, you’ll pull up the lever and there won’t be enough clearance below for the basket to drop and flip because it’s crushing down onto the empty pods. On top of that, emptying out the bin can be quick but it’s also a procedure. Basically you have to take off the removable tray base and then pull and slide the fixed tray towards you, which in turn pulls out the empty bin that sits on top of the internal drip tray. The empty bin can’t be emptied on its own. The peek “hole” you see behind the nozzle is just that. It’s to see how high your empty pods are. It’s not there to pull the bin out when it’s time to empty like many would assume. Once you have it pulled out you lift and empty out the old pods then you also will need to empty and clean the internal drip tray. Then you’ll stack the tray and bin back up and slide it (all together) back into the unit where it lightly snaps into place. The internal empty bin design seems to be a bit overkill but I suppose since the drip tray is also hidden inside it’s a way to make sure the old coffee and drip tray gets emptied and rinsed out regularly being that it’s out of sight, outta mind.I would also like to reiterate that regardless of the “flaws” I noted above, I am still in love with this machine. What I believe to be flaws might be exactly what others like about it. For me, the importance of having a smaller machine that could consistently make me yummy shots of espresso by just a touch of a button was key. And my machine had fully paid for itself 6 weeks after I bought it.My normal drink is a 24oz iced, white chocolate, Americano topped with a splash of milk or cream (if I’m feeling fancy). Last year prior to buying the L’OR, I was paying $6.50 a day that includes a dollar tip.I use bulk Ghirardelli white chocolate powder, the

    Buy this over Nespresso!

My first time purchasing an espresso machine – I was going between this machine and the Nespresso which is very popular right now. I thought based on the reviews that this machine was just as good as the Nespresso. Now that I’ve received the machine, I feel it does what the Nespresso does just as well. For the price of the bundle, I would only be getting the Nespresso branded machine. To me, it was more cost effective – and does the job. Plus, to refill the capsules, the options also are more cost efficient. It was about 5-10 minutes to set up and read through the instructions for the machine itself and the milk frother. There’s 3 settings for the coffee/espresso: small, med, and large. For the milk frother, also 3 settings: hot foam, hot milk with no foam, and cold foam. I’m very happy with my purchase!

Decent purchase for a one cup brew. It’s so loud it’s funny, but it does the job. Wish I could by pods in the grocery store though.

    Time and money saver!

I am admittedly a Starbucks addict. Even ordering just an iced americano was adding up everyday, especially once hubby started drinking them too.I purchased this in February and have been using is every day, multiple times a day since. I’ve never used the coffee pods, I bought this for espresso so I can’t comment on how that works, if you are looking for an all in one machine. The espresso though is amazing! The ones that come with the machine are good but a little pricy to buy all the time, I mainly buy “Rosso Caffe” capsules and it’s so much better than going to Starbucks! Highly recommend and if you really want the Starbucks experience buy a good milk frother and make your own cold foams!

    Customer service help

I bought this March 22,2023 for $189. It started making loud noise so I bought the descaler and followed directions. It completely stopped working. I have sat on hold fruitlessly trying to get assistance from customer service. Very disappointed this broke in just 6 months and customer service is unreachable. Before this I would have raved about this machine.Update 9/24/23- Seller reached out and refunded purchase. Because we did love the machine we reordered with hopes the other one was a lemon. I’ll update if it breaks again.

    5-star machine, but the coffee…

I got this to replace my 3rd dead Nespresso machine. It came with it’s own brand of Nespresso-compatible espresso pods and L’Or-only coffee pods (I don’t use pods to make regular coffee, I’ve never had any excellent Keurig coffee – admitting that I’ve only had Keurig coffee as a guest of other people who didn’t offer an alternative). The machine does an excellent job of making espresso, and seems better-made and equal to my Nespresso machines in espresso quality. The coffee that came with it, though? Not Keurig-compatible, so can only be used in this machine, and definitely not changing my opinion that one-cup coffee pods are an inferior drink. So, I took off a star, due to not being Keurig-compatible and making an inferior cup of regular Joe. If it just did Nespresso-compatible, or as a pod espresso maker, I’d give it 5 stars
