Worth the price of entry
I’ve had this projector for a couple days now and it has blown me away. I upgraded from an old optima hd20 because I wanted 4k hdr and this LG projector delivers both. As long as this projector gets the rated 30k hours usage, i’ll be completely satisfied.Setup was quick enough, I used an existing ceiling mount from my old projector. When I first turned HU70LA on, it recognized it was upside down and flipped the image automatically, that was a nice touch. I’m projecting from about 15ft away onto a 133in screen and the image is plenty bright, even with some ambient light in the room things are still watchable. Something really noticeable, especially in HDR content is how vivid everything looks. The colors are really vibrant. The throw distance i’m using is about as far away from my screen as i can while not making the image too large for my screen. If you have a longer throw distance you are going to need a bigger screen. I did have to use the keystone alignment, it only adjusts vertically and not horizontally (but i only needed vertical keystone).LG’s webOS is integrated just like their TV’s. The magic remote is just that. Magic. I really like the motion control cursor and the smart features of the projector. I didn’t think i would use them a lot, but it is just really convenient rather than turning on my xbox or apple tv. It is also really easy to have different image presets and swap between them (for example a gaming preset and then a movie preset) CEC works to turn on my receiver so with the one remote it is all I need if i’m streaming things from webOS. If you have used webOS on any of their recent tvs, no surprises here. its the same great experience.Normally i don’t like the smooth motion image interpolation when watching tv or movies, but on a projector and screen this large i’ve become a quick fan. Everything about it just feels better. (Not for gaming though, only for video content consumption)Being able to play pc games at 1080p and 120hz is pretty amazing. One of the reason i selected this model was for pc gaming on a big screen and not having to sacrifice high refresh rate is absolutely awesome. The input lag on game mode (while i’m not sure what it is) was not noticeable to me.My only image complaint is the black levels aren’t super great. They are decent, but when you go watch something darker like Batman the dark knight or Mr Robot, i found I had to turn up the brightness setting on the projector to actually see details in the dark. Doing this washes out the image a little bit, but it still is a great improvement over my old projector. I just made a preset for darker things and switch to it when needed. It would also be nice if the power supply was internal so it used a normal plug to the projector from the wall rather than using a power brick, but i feel like that is really nitpicky. In my situation i just zip tied it to my ceiling projector mount arm and called it good. It isn’t as clean as an install though as just plugging a cable directly from the outlet into the projector. Also wanted to make a quick note, make sure that you get cables rated for 4k@60hz (18Gbps). I first tried with an old high speed cable that was only rated for 4k@24hz (10.2Gbps) and I couldn’t push 4k content to the projector. Just keep cabling in mind when getting a projector like this.EDIT: After using this projector for a little over a month I tried to get the Disney+ app on it but it is not supported. This projector is running webos 3 instead of 4 (you need 4 for the more recent channels like disney+). My LG TV bought in 2017 has been updated with webos 4 and can get Disney+ so i’m hoping that LG updates the projector as well at some point.

Great 4k projector with minor set backs
Great product! Coming from using cheaper Chinese brand projectors to using this is night and day.The good part:Low fan noise, sharp 4k HDR picture, bright image, image remains clear with low to moderate lighting, and all the smart functions of an LG smart TV.The negative:Zoom function is very minimal and you would need to physically move your projector forward or back to find the optimal distance to fit you screen. While you can adjust the image itself to view whatever media you’re going to be watching the LG home screen remains at a certain resolution that is unadjustable. For me I already had an existing ceiling mount and found it difficult while initially setting up the projector as I need to move it forward to fit my existing screen. Once everything was adjusted setting up the rest was easy.I would highly recommend anyone who’s looking to upgrade their 1080p projector to take a hard look at this product. Very happy with it especially for the price.

Pretty good for the price
It is quiet enough the fan noise is not noticeable even within few feet of my head. The picture quality is good, but it is not a true 4K. Read the PDF manual which is linked from the web page.I purchased this to use as a PC monitor and needed full resolution, but it turns out the resolution has to be reduced for the best quality. The user interface is easy to use. It has a built-in TV turner which I don’t see much use as most people probably use a separate streaming or cable box.The picture is not that bright and cannot be used in daylight. The room does not have to be dark, but it needs a dim room.It can be placed on a table, but ceiling mounting is the best to keep it out of the way. It needs to be horizontally centered at the lens (not the body) for the best focus because it only has vertical adjustment. This was a good starting projector at a reasonable price. I would go for the laser one the next time if I can afford it so that it can be used in daylight.

Recommended with a few caveats
Originally I rated this a 3 star projector. But, the execution here is truly phenomenal. The complete package comes in at one extra star. And, I’ve updated my prior review. After even more testing I found that the black levels are… acceptable. It has good traits. It has bad traits. The good do outweigh the bad.In short: if you intend to replace a TV with this projector, then by all means pick it up. I was sporting a 10ft screen (120″ diagonal) and at first glance, with some ambient light, I was very impressed. The color is truly excellent, as others have noted. It is so excellent it shines in bright ambient light, catching the eye and filling in the image. The color is what makes this LED projector shine (pun intended). It is lovely. The problems begin when you lower the lights for a bit more clarity because… well, there isn’t any. The exact same image you saw with ambient light? That’s nearly what you are getting when the lights are low. There isn’t any extra dark hiding in the shadows. It’s going to be good color and only acceptable dark forever. In its favor this projector sports 30,000 hours of lamp life. This is near-TV levels of lifespan for the light source, normally the trouble area for projectors. It touts being rainbow-effect free, though I oddly thought I caught some here or there. Did I mention it has magnificent color? It has LG’s WebOS built in and can capably stream many, many wonderful apps in full 4k (not Disney+ or Hulu at this time). It is light. It is svelt. It has the back-lit magic remote. But, it has poor, poor black levels, requiring you to wash out the picture to bring them up in HDR (far better performance in SDR). It has decent, but not great, input lag for gaming (40+ ms for 4k, 50+ ms in SD). It isn’t the greatest optically (mine had minor focus uniformity issues). It isn’t truly all that bright, despite the incredible color brightness. Strangely, that will affect you more in the dark, it seemed to me, than in the daylight. Also, the brightness is more an issue with the desired size of my screen (120″). At a smaller size the brightness may be far more tolerable.Like I said, it has good and bad traits. This projector is good. I preach the black levels, especially with HDR content. But, it is by no means the worst projector I have ever used.4 stars,

Rainbow Fringes and Delayed Audio
I was excited to receive the LG710 projector as an upgrade to my 12 year old Optoma DLP projector. Right out of the box, the interface was amazing with a full blown smart TV experience made easy through the Magic Remote. Watching my first videos, it was shocking how sharp the picture was compared to my previous 1080p projector. However, there were two key issues that made me return the projector.Issue #1: Red/green/blue stripes (aka rainbow effect)In high contrast scenes, wherever there were white patches, such as a light in an otherwise dark space, I could not help but notice distinct vertical bands of red, green, and blue stripes out of the corner of my eye. I’ve seen this on other DLP projectors before, but did not expect it on this projector due to its lack of color wheel.Issue #2: Audio syncTry as I might, I could not adequately synchronize the audio and video using either the projector’s or my receiver’s controls. I found that the video was always ahead of the audio. The controls provide only the ability to delay the audio, which made the issue worse rather than better. I also found that the delay varied from app to app.Decision:Ultimately, I decided I couldn’t live with the color stripes or audio delay and returned the projector, purchasing an Epson 5050ub instead. While the 5050ub isn’t technically a 4k projector, its 3 LCD technology avoids the rainbow effect and I cannot perceive any audio lag between the projector and my receiver. I gave up the integrated apps and eARC support the LG offered, but the cessation of rainbow effect, dramatically improved black levels, and correct audio sync more than make up for it to me.Is this projector for you?If you do not notice the flicker of LED Christmas lights, LED tail lights, or if you are not susceptible to the rainbow effect in DLP projectors, or if you don’t notice audio sync issues, this LG unit may suit you just fine. However, if either of these issues detract from your television/movie watching experience, then I suggest you select a different projector.[updated 2022-07-10 to address egregious typos and add clarity]

Outstanding 4K HDR Projector
I paid $994.00 for this Projector, the Original Price $1800.00.Even though this is a 4 year old Projector, there is Not Another 4K Projector New in 2023 with eARC, A TV Tuner, the Sharpness, the Vivid Colors, The Amazing Picture Quality and 30,000 hours LED Bulb 💡 life, available for Less than 2,000.00.I don’t know another 4K Projector that has a TV Tuner. Several don’t have ARC / eARC which is Very important to have, it gives you a better Picture and Much better Audio. In 2019 this Projector was called an Amazing Value at $1800.00. Reviews said you would have to Spend $4000.00 to get a Better Projector.People Knock the Brightness, and the Black Levels. Both are Better than New in 2022 / 2023 LED Projectors that are Selling between $1200.00 and $2000.00.I personally will Not buy another Bulb Projector because (Yes you can get 2000 – 4000 Plus Brightness) after less than 1,000 hours the Brightest is reduced by 20% and by 3000 hours before it burns out you have Lost 40% or so of the Original Brightness 🔆.If you don’t change the Bulb 💡 before it Burns out when it burns out it could destroy your Projector. Replacement Bulbs cost $100.00 to over $500.00.The hidden cost of Bulb replacements people forget about. This LG Projector the Brightness and the Quality of the Light will Not diminish. At 30,000 hours before it goes dark it will be as Bright as it was the 1st time you used it.This Projector is Plenty Bright. The Black Levels are Not Nearly as Good as $4000.00 Projectors or like OLED TVs. The Black Levels are Good though.

Review from an Average User
I’m an average user. I don’t have a dark room or a theater room set up for this. It’s just set up in my living room and (for the moment) projecting onto my wall. So this is a review from someone who just has an average living room. The picture quality is fantastic. It will be even better once we get it on a screen but we don’t have one yet. The brightness of the projector absolutely shocked me. I expected a clear, crisp picture at night when the room is dark but the light level in the living during the day can best be described as “dim” with all the blinds closed. We were never going to get to theater level darkness. Despite that, you can’t tell the difference in picture between the day time and night time pictures. I even pulled the same youtube video up so it’s a fair comparison. The projector is just as bright during the day as it is during the night! The form-factor of the projector is also shockingly small. The last time I saw a project in person it was huge so I was sort of expecting it to be fairly large despite looking at the dimensions on the listing. The projector has a convenient aiming feature that allowed us to adjust the position of the video without having to adjust the entire projector. It made it so much easier to get it angled just right between the two pieces of furniture we have. We haven’t gotten rid of the TV that we were using before yet, but once we do, we plan to just move the projected picture down. The integration with Alexa isn’t perfect. We currently have it plugged into an amazon cube and we need to use the projector remote to turn the projector on and off but then use the amazon remote for everything else. This could be user error or set up error though since even though the cube isn’t plugged into the old TV anymore… it still turns that TV on when we say to turn the TV on.Overall, I’m super pleased with this projector. It’s 100% worth the cost even in a normal living room. My dad and I love watching things on it and are slowly making changes to the living room to accommodate it.

Defective backlight. Very slow reluctant support from LG.
For the first two years it worked, with some issues like a warped plastic lens that caused a blurry spot no matter how you focus, like how there’s no horizonal keystone… But it worked…… Then the backlight LEDs abruptly went bad and everything turned blue including the menu itself. (I.e. it’s not settings, it’s hardware). It’s at less than 10% of its life expectancy. It’s not dusty or hot or dropped or anything.Quick search online reveals LG is known for using these defective Vestel LEDs that turn blue as they’re going bad prematurely.I learn today that there are no parts available from LG or any LG distributor. I bought from LG through Amazon and they told me I’m out of luck. Update, after a month-long struggle, I got them to refund me. I got an equivalent Optoma 4k projector which was $100 cheaper and which is so much better, brighter, and sharper, with lower latency, a better remote, which actually works with Alexa (LG thinQ stinQs). Done with LG products.

Good picture, Short power cable
I mounted this on the ceiling and the distance between projector end and the power brick is short. I didn’t want to have the power brick hanging from the ceiling also.I was able to find an extension for the power cable from Goal Zero which seems to be meant for solar panels. I searched for `6mm Output 6ft Extension Cable`. I had to trim off a bit of the barrel plug plastic overhang on one of the ends so it fit properly. Using two of them I was able to have the power brick sitting on the floor.

Perfect for my use. Smart app support is lacking compared to 4k sticks
Brighter and sharper than the previous 4k dlp lamp projector i had that was rated 3000 lumens. I have the mounted 15 ft from wall. Image looks awesomeWhy not 5 stars:Settings are funny to make it comparable to a pannel tv. Like others stated contrast needs to be set to 100%. Then fine tune from there.Apps are pointless, just get a 4k stick from your prefered platform. Honestly why do device makers even add these smart app stuff.Mounting holes are super close due to small size of unit. I eas able to use my previous bracket but had to add washers so the mount plate could clear the rubber foot bar that is at back of unit

Awesome Projector
Picture quality is awesome… I like the way that LG included all the apps and looks more like a big TV. Love the magic remote. Initially I was little hesitant about 1500 luminous but for our basement room light that’s perfect.

Excellent smart features, dussapinting dark scenes and bluetooth
This is an excellent example of a smart projector with added bluetooth capability. The colors are very true and cinema mode plus HDR effect mode have great color effect. However, the contrast level is poor and dark scene details dissapear, which is disappointing for the price. Bluetooth should be standard on all projectors, and it is on this one, but the sound is delayed and choppy at times…I was really excited about the smart features, but the picture quality and bluetooth sound do disappoint. Sorry LG, let’s get back and produce something that may compete with other 4K projectors on the dark scenes and for Gods sake please get up to speed with good working bluetooth…

Exceeded my expectations
Super easy to set up, picture was easy to focus. It’s actually so bright that we usually use it on medium power saver mode which dims it a bit. Picture is very sharp, good contrast. It’s also whisper quiet, where we positioned it is basically right next to where we sit a head level, so any noise at all would be obvious, and there is virtually none.

Great projector, we love it.
Really happy with this projector. Our family has had several movie nights with it and it adds a lot to the cinema experience. Having apps built in is great, we also connected our amazon fire stick and enjoy youtube tv, amazon, hbo, etc. Has built in audio which is decent, we are looking to buy a surround sound system in the future.I did a lot of research on what projector to buy. We decided what specs we wanted and this one checked all the boxes, I have no regrets. Highly recommend it.

Great picture quality and brightness
The media could not be loaded.
This is a great 4k projector for home theater. 1500 ANSI lumens is quite bright and if the room is dark, its amazingly clear, crisp and quiet. May not be suitable for a bright living room though. The LG webos is a cherry on top…enjoying it.

Awesome projector for the price but missing some minor features
Pros:- Great color contrast and black levels when paired with a Cinegrey screen (also worked great during the day in low ambient light room for me) p.s pictures attached don’t do it justice since Amazon compresses the photos and makes them look blurry/a little discolored- Low Price relative to other premium projectors- I was able to throw at least 110” screen from about 10 feet and can likely go a bit bigger-LG UI makes it feel like using a smart TV- Back lit remote is the best!- Gaming worked great for me for non competitive games as i did not notice an input lag that was distracting or any really although I know LG claims around 50-60 milliseconds (haven’t tested out with COD or other competitive games yet)Cons:- No Horizontal/Vertical lens shift (wasn’t as much of an issue for me but i had to take a lot of time doing measurements and lining it up perfectly)- No Horizontal Keystone (only vertical and even that one is lackluster)-No HBO MAX with LG UI as of this review. Had to use Xbox to play it smhOverall, I’m glad I got it and was significantly cheaper than the Epsons i was looking at potentially getting.

Purchase the warranty
I really enjoy this projector. Unfortunately after just over a year of use a dead pixel appeared on the screen. Fortunately I purchased the extended warranty through Asurion and created a claim for repair. After 3 weeks of waiting it finally returned. After reinstalling the projector the pixel was gone but unfortunately the color scheme was completely off! There was nothing that could be done on my end even with assistance over the phone on troubleshooting. I had to create another claim send it back in and after a few weeks Asurion informs me it’s now beyond repair?! Fortunately they refunded me the full cost of the projector in the form of an Amazon gift card.

Good projector – terrible hdmi connectivity
This was the second one I purchased – first was the white color which I had to return because the hdmi arc port was bad. Now same issue with the black. Tech support for LG projectors is laughably terrible. They have no clue how to fix their own products. The projector itself is good, good picture and great smart feature. Just use Bluetooth because the hdmi ports have a ton of issues connecting to AV receivers. Was able to get my $150 tv to connect to the AV receiver, for some reason this $1200 projector no bueno.

Phenomenal Projector! Much better than expected.
To begin this I’d been looking into projectors for a few years now. I was pretty set on the Epson 5050UB as I wanted great contrast mixed with enough brightness and color for my theater room. I kept saying as soon as the 5050 comes down near the $2,000 range I’d be all over it. It never did (as of yet). I started to look around for anything that could be catching up to it at a lower price point. I feel like after an endless amount of projectors I decided between either the LG HU70LA or the LG HU810PW. Amazon day was a big factor for both since the HU70LA was down to $1,200 and the HU810PW was down to $2,200. The specs on the HU810PW looked phenomenal compared to the HU70LA but the $1,200 price on the HU70LA looked great as well. I bought both since you can return for any reason (as long as it has under 10 hours on the bulb) to Amazon and shot them side by side. My wife and I agree that there is MINIMAL difference. Maybe the blacks were a little better on the HU810PW and I think the motion was a little better. That was about it. I’ve watched the Epson 5050UB (which is considered the best mid range projector on the market) and I can say I don’t regret buying this projector one bit. The colors pop, the cinema modes are phenomenal for movies, the black levels are great….and this is all before I’ve even painted my walls OR bought a projector screen. These pictures are shot on my agreeable grey textured walls, and it still looks phenomenal. Everybody that’s come over and seen it can’t believe we paid $1,200 for this kind of performance. HIGHLY recommend if you have a light controlled room. I can’t say anything for outside of that, but I think this projector is meant to be light controlled anyways.

best value for the cost, LG is now my fav brand for tvs/ projectors, can be used as monitors
I love this thing… i use as a 4k pc monitor. in game mode. the mouse is a tiny bit laggy i get 60hz and its good enough. Its runs hot, long throw, but you can mount in on the ceiling. Great remote.. I had an LG OLED tv and the remote of that also works with it. Both are wonderful for films too. Put a wet cloth near the fan to help use evaporative cooloing to sweat out the heat and try to vent it out somewhere…. supposedly it used 300 wattss but i blows alot of heat. Less power than a gaming PC and reportedly less than comparable projectors. For the cost its really good. im using it as 4k montior an i can read the text even wht its tiny with glassses on… Maybe the black levels arent great but i havent noticed that. An OLE tv is a fixed size im getting a bigger screen and its portable. Sure OLE is probably the best reproduction ( i though i was loking out a window once looking at an HDR film on OLED) , but i burned it in already with edges of windwos. you cannot move an OLED tv thats 50 inch aroudn and barely lift from room to roomm. So highly recommended. HDR tho is there but with windows and certain hdmi wires it seems to no have any good effect.. So im not gettign gleaming swords in newer tv products but this is a low end device and its great. The sound isnt half bad for a tiny speaker in there somewhere but you will need a sound system i recomment Audioengine if you want small and clear sound. but speaking for the brand the OLED had amazing sound i diddnt even use my studio montiors i preferred the TV sound.

Best projector for the price!
Much brighter than my old Sony 4K projector and turns on much faster. Blacks are not great but you forget about it when you can actually see HDR content because of the excellent brightness. Colors are fantastic. Always use in Low Latency Mode to avoid delayed lip sync and to avoid lag with games.

Great Living Room Projector
This is a really nice projector for anywhere with any ambient light. It is instant on and super bright which is great for a living room or basement that is not light controlled. I do not recommend it for “bat cave” darkened theaters because the black floor is not the best on it. This is due to the .49″ dlp chip that is used in it. It just can’t get the native contrast and black floor as other types of projector technology. For example, my 15 year old bulb LCD projector still has better black levels than this Laser/led one.Colors and HDR are pretty fantastic on this though. I did notice that there was quite a green push when I was calibrating to rec709. When I was taking the green push out I was getting some “rainbow” color push around the perimeter of the image because I had to bias red so much. The lens shift is also kind of sloppy, so I also do not recommend this for people that are changing from cinescope to widescreen. Defiantly a set the aspect ratio and leave it alone projector. There is a lot of lens shift which is quite nice, so you can avoid using the keystone correctionOverall for a non-dedicated theater I would buy this and love it. For a dedicated home theater, I would recommend spending the money on a different option (like I am going to)

Good but some major flaws – returning it:(
Pros:pixel shift 4Kgreat color management optionspretty quietgreat remotebuilt in tv turnergreat colors but could be brighterunit size – easy to move around roomsCons:brightness is rated as 1500 ANSI Lumens, after calibration this drops too much, so you’ll lose brightness overallno lens shift just optical zoom so can’t place it just anywhere, no digital zoom nor 4D keystone, just horizontaltvOS is terrible, apps supported on 2019 LG TVs are not available on this 2019 LG projector (stuff you won’t get: Hulu, hbo max, paramount plus, peacock, etc. You do get Netflix and Prime video preinstalled though.Blacks are washed out grey and could be better with better contrastMotion – gosh! This is so so bad that regular content becomes unwatchable, a simple panning or tilting shot is a juddering mess with much cheaper projectors handling motion much much better (the main reason I’m returning after the fact that the product went on an additional 200 off a few days after I bought it.)Sound – not a con as this is in no shape of form to be used with its internal speakers as your main audio

Not that great
While it it a 4K projector, it misses the mark on the basics. For instance, you can’t adjust the feet. So, you have to place shims under each foot to adjust the elevation and level. The other issue is heat. I keep getting an ‘internal heating’ alert after about 40 minutes of use. For the price, the basics should have been addressed.

The product delivers!
The product is a great buy for the price. Be it picture quality, features, OS or remote – all of them are great. I think LG has nailed this one.The only downside is the fact that native OS does not allow you to download multiple apps. However it can be easily overcome if you buy a streaming device like amazon FIRE TV Stick or something.

For the price this thing is incredible. Installation was very straightforward. I knew the brightness would be low prior buying but it definitely is impactful and worth mentioning with this projector. I have a theater room with zero windows and as long as the doors to the room are closed and lights are out it is amazing…otherwise it is ok. You need an extremely low light or no light room for this projector.

Fantastic picture
I upgraded from an Epson 5030 and have a dark media room with a 120″ screen. I asked a friend who is experienced in calibrating projectors to assist me in calibrating this one. Both of us were very impressed with the picture quality. It is fantastic compared to the Epson 5030 but it also compares favorably with a LG QLED Television. It makes videos I previously enjoyed seem like a whole new experience. I am very pleased.

I’m very impressed. Color is vivid and pops.
This is my first projector. It looks really damn good. But I find myself comparing it to my Samsung 8QF, which isn’t fair. The TV is way brighter than this projector: which is it’s only flaw imo. If it was a bit brighter, it would be the perfect projector.Besides the cons, I would still highly recommend this projector. Pros:-color is outstanding! Super vivid.-easy to setup-Smart function & LG remote. Makes streaming so easy.-fairly sharp. Actually, really sharp for a budget projector.Con:-needs a dark room for viewing. If you have your theater in a dark room or basement like me, it’s not an issue.-contrast: watching dark movies such as horror films, things tend to get lost. But don’t get me wrong, it’s not awful, it’s just not perfect.

An Amazing Product
This is easily the best quality I’ve ever seen from a projector. It’s a bit pricey but definitely worth the money. We take it on road trips now so that we always have a nice outdoor theater ready to go. However, please be aware that while it says webOS 4.5 it’s actually running some version of webOS 3.0 and no dice on upgrading it further. What this means is no Hulu or Disney+. As a result, we had to purchase a Roku stick to handle those apps. Not the end of the world, but also not something you want to do when you’re dropping this much money on a device.Paired these with a set of JBL 5.1 soundbar and the outdoor home theater is good to go!

Great picture compared to others I tried
I’m very satisfied with this projector. I had originally bought an Optima for around the same price range that didn’t impress me at all so I returned it and bought this LG. It has a really great picture even with our lights on. I love the LG software that makes navigating in the system smooth and also the remote that it comes with is pretty awesome. The only negative I can think of is dark scenes are hard to see sometimes when we have our lights on but thats nothing to complain about since most projectors need it to be dark for a good picture.

EXCELLENT
LG has done it again with the knew LG HU70LA. Now the have 3 units for purchase and the all perform excellent. I have all 3 in my home and you will not be disappointed in any of the three. The performance is the best on the market. All short throw projectors are built with excellent quaility ang give you more in each projector. My entire home is wide screen projecting and everyone loves it. I also own 2 85 inch TV”s and as they they YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Love your products and looking forward to LG future WHAT’S NEXT!!

Highly recommend with some slight distortions.
BEAUTIFUL PICTURE QUALITY! I was skeptical about buying a projector, thinking the picture quality wouldn’t come close to a newer tv… I was wrong. The picture is stunning and crisp. There are occasional moments that I notice a little disturbance in the picture. When sun was shining thru the blinds during a scene in breaking bad, the window got all distorted. I also noticed it when the grill of the car came over a hill the grill got distorted as well. Besides those two instances tho… it’s been perfect. Highly recommend. For the price you can throw a 10’ screen on your wall crystal clear.

This projector could be 5 stars if…..
Missing picture adjustment to fit your screen size perfectly;however, I’m stoked to see how good the image looks during the day and at night. I give it 5 stars and it does come with Netflix and Disney+ and is very user friendly the interface as well as the remote control. It weights very little and super quiet you barley hear the fan. very glad I bought it and the price was amazing too.

Amazing 4k projector for under $1400
Well, I’m not a tech guy, just a guy that loves a product with eye pleasing performance. Bought two projectors this week, 1st one ( different brand ) went back and the 2nd, this lg hu70lab I’ll be keeping. Photos attached via steaming from Netflix, vudu were right out of the box using firetv 4k and roku ultra. Read a professional review on this lg but it was somewhat negative, surprisingly. I decided to try it anyways because of the sale price and for all that was offered. Setup was easy and seamless with my 2 streaming sticks ( switched to hdr mode flawlessly) , back-lit remote nice, small, lightweight ,easy navigation through lg OS, extremely quiet ( fan noise non issue ), fired up in 6 seconds, shutdown in 2 seconds, auto focus from remote. To my eye what I had seen out of the box on my 120″ screen was amazing, beautiful and i was sold. This format for viewing movies, sports, tv shows will replace any furture purchases of 4k televisions. Again, jmho, looking forward to fine tuning this projector even more once I know what I’m doing 😉

All nines, with one really bad flaw.
This thing puts out a great 4k picture. It has all of the adjustments for picture quality, input flexibility is good, it mounts well, it’s all great! But……….you literally have to mount it at the exact distance to your screen as it has ZERO screen size adjustment. Not a limited amount, ZERO. That said, if you can find the sweet spot manually and you can mount it there it’s pretty great.

I like it a lot
For the price its not bad, and I’m able to get a 120 screen of HD actions. I’ve yet to use it with any other devices like an Xbox or Blu Ray player. But for the HD 4K content I’m getting from Amazon Prime, and Netflix I’m impressed. It was a bit to get installed since I’m using a ceiling mount and wall’s that aren’t quite level. So getting the screen to fit just right took quite a bit of time. I think if I had to do it over again I would have just saved all my money and got the ultra short throw projector I had been eyeing for months now. I feel like that would have been a lot less of a headache to deal with.Overall for the price and the size of screen this thing produces I think its a fantastic entry level 4K long throw projector. And it may be worth the extra cash to have a professional company come and mount it up for you if you choose to go ceiling mount with this thing.

Viewing distance
Could use more brightness and must be able to adjust the distance between the projector based and screen size to obtain the best quality picture

Excellent choice for Casual viewers/gamers.
Finally found a projector to stick with. I’ve gone through Optoma (2017 + 2019 models) and a couple of recent BenQ models (all <$2k) and I just wasn't ultimately satisfied with any of them. Along comes the LG HU70LA and it appeared to tick most of the boxes and voila, it did.Couple of things that other reviewers seem to overlook. Coming from bulb-based projectors, this LG really kills it with a near instant-on feature. It's the closest thing to a TV experience I've had in the five or so projectors I've owned. You don't realize how great a feature that is until you experience it. The second thing is this omits MUCH LESS heat than the bulb-based projectors did. I have my projector placed right behind my seating, near head level, and with the previous projectors omitting a crazy amount of heat, it was almost unbearable to use in our cinema room during summer nights and that is with the central A/C running! While this LG still has a fair amount of heat it isn't nearly as bad. I bought the tiniest external fan (used for babies on strollers) and have that running and it helps disperse the heat stream away from the seating.I route this LG through a proper AV Receiver and have all the goodies connected to it (4K Apple TV, Oppo UHD Player, PS5 + Xbox Series X) and they all look stunning in my set-up. The room is fully light-controlled so didn't see the need to splurge on a pricey ALR screen. Spent $250 on a fixed, white one and am completely satisfied. 18 people found this helpful

The Best Projector for the Money!
We replaced an earlier model Sony native 4k projector with this new LG. We were tired of waiting for the bulb to warm up on the Sony. The brightness was always lacking and recently the colors were starting to look washed out.We could not be more happy with the LG. Almost instant on and the depth of color and brightness is much better. The projector is super quiet and does not seem to run too hot. It was easy to setup. While we have manual controls instead of the powered focus and lens shift of the Sony, you only adjust those one time so it was not a feature we will miss.We had the prior model LG 810 to try last year but returned it do to laser sparkle and audio sync issues but this newer model 710 has a different color engine so there is no issue. It looks close to our LG OLED TVs!Highly recommended model from LG.

Versitale and dynamic
Placed the projector in the dedicated movie room. I can control the light in the room very well and the brightness is perfect for that environment. If you wanted to place this in a living room or in a room that has more light it may not work since the brightness is not the best. The picture quality is great and the user interface as well as the menu is very easy to use and the projector was basically set up ready to go immediately. Overall it’s a great deal for what you get in my opinion.

Incredible product
LG makes great products and this is shown in this device. I have no issues with this save one… and it might be fixable.I bought this specifically to play 4k content through PLEX, but the projector keeps stuttering and buffering. Same content will play fine on my 4k TVs. If I can’t resolve this soon, I will have to return it.@LG reach out to me! I need help!

I tested three different projectors…
This is worth your money, I am very impressed with the quality of this projector.Make sure you can mount lower to the ground or on the ceiling. That’s the only issue with this projector is you have to be pretty precise on location.9/10 awesome home entertainment!

Great Device. Still Returned
The projector itself had an Amazing picture, and good brightness… However the way my setup is, the Projector became quickly unusable without a feature for keystone correction like the other models… This Projector is meant to be centered on the viewing area. Absolutely no wiggle room.

Too many shortcomings
Pros: Great picture quality, low noiseshortcoming:1: The adjustment knob on the machine is very cheap, feels bad, and cannot be adjusted precisely.2: The machines that cost one-third of the price of epson are all electric adjustments.3: The remote control logic is confusing and difficult to use

Excellent brights..poor blacks
Form factor is great. Its light and easy enough to hang up in the ceiling. But its tricky to match the image size on the screen with a very narrow zoom functionality. I had to move the projector a little further forward for this to match up. The bulky power adaptor is a pain with ceiling mount, I have it sitting atop the projector mount for now.Plusses:Bright movie scenes are great and color is awesome.LG remote is awesome.Voice command is great.Minuses:Dark scenes are not at all great and blacks are pretty gray-looking and muddied despite a pitch black room and several settings I tried. Not sure if this has to do with my screen which is not the top end of the line.Too bad HBOmax is not available as an app.Bulky power adaptor

Important install info
In terms of quality, the little bit of this projector I saw was great. Nice and bright, images are crisp. But here’s the rub: it doesn’t tell you anywhere that it only projects at an upward angle. So you either need to set it on a table, or get a ceiling mounted adjustable arm to induce a severe downward tilt.THIS WILL NOT WORK IF YOU HAVE A SHELF MOUNT THAT IS HUNG FROM THE CEILING OR HIGH ON A WALL!!!!! You simply can’t do any kind of vertical adjustment in this direction. There are adjustment legs, but under the front only to raise it up higher. You also need to be mindful of the distance the projector is from your screen. You may not be able to shrink the image enough.

Good so far
I’ve added pictures of what the brightest/quality looks like with the light on and off. I took the pictures in a room with black out curtains. I have the projector about 10 ft away projecting on a 100 inch screen.

Very Tedious and often disconnects with peripherals.
Painful and ridiculous UI set up. Doesn’t like to work with firestick well. Although it says its a smart device that quote is very questionable. Often disconnects with other peripherals and you have to start over again. Just by a complete TV set and watch TV more instead of attempting to get it to play nice with others like sound systems and firesticks. When you can get this to work you get a great picture.
