Bargain! This is a steal. I paid $279.
I waited a month after installing this before writing a review, because any changes always seem bad with anything new. I had a GE stovetop that lasted 24 years before the glass broke unexpectedly so I am comparing it to it. So here it is:Pros:1. Easy to install – Less than 1 hour and half of that time was just cleaning the surface and removing the old one. There is nothing complex changing these out if you are replacing an existing electric stovetop. There are only 2 hot wires and a ground. That should be true on your existing plug and what is coming out of the new stove top. Both wires are 110 each so either can go to either side. (No nuetral on 220). Mounting: There is no need to mount brackets. My old one popped up with a flat end screw driver and was just weight heavy holding it in place – so same thing with this. It doesn’t move just dropped it in after attaching felt edging that came with it. Note: It came with a scraper, mounting brackets and wire leads ready to attach to your old plug wires. I just attached the wire to where my old wires went to. SIMPLE. Nice!2. Matt coated top is just like my old GE that I had for 24 years. It never showed dirt or scratches that much even though it was old. A lot of the newer designs have a polished finish and they always look dirty. I didn’t want that.3. I like the fact that it has a metal edging. It think this will help prevent a broken glass top. And this is exactly what happened to my old GE.4. It warms up and cooks as good as my old GE stovetop and I absolutely loved that cooktop. If anything this stovetop may take slightly longer to heat up, but that is splitting hairs.5. The price of this stovetop was less that 1/2 of another GE which is what I wanted to get. So that seemed like a potential risk, but the reviews were good, so why not try it. What a bargain!.CONS:1. Functions: This was a little weird at first and had to figure it out – nothing serious though. The knobs turn very easily to each power number 1- 10. No clicks like my old GE, so if your cleaning the stove top they get moved ON or OFF with the slightest wipe… and I’m not joking, bump them slightly and they turn. This took some time to get used to. Also there is a main power button that, even though you turn a knob it will not turn on a burner without the main button activated. This was a little irritating too, but possibly a good safety feature in case you bump a knob while cleaning, it won’t come on unless you engage this button. But the Power Button comes ON every time you wipe the surface, so you have to watch for the red LED lights, if they came ON. I finally got used to that – this was very different.3. Power button – it is like a touch screen on your cell phone. If you have moisture on it from cleaning the stove top, it won’t activate. You have to wipe it down dry and make sure your finger is dry before activating it. At the same time, a wet washcloth will activate it sometimes, especially on the first wipe. So basically if you wipe up a spill on the stovetop while cooking, you turned everything off. This seems to happen a lot, but I’ve grown used to it and constantly look for red indicator lights.4. Knob location – Nothing big, but one front burner is in the very back and the other in the front. None of the button coincide with the location of the burners. Don’t know what idiot thought this made sense. Especially the double burner in front. The outer burner has to be activated by the button every single time you use it and the button is next to a different controller for the burner. What was this all about? I finally got used to this, but still weird.5. This glass top is about 20% thinner than my old GE. I don’t know if this will make any difference, but I did notice it. However it seems sturdy enough so it may not necessarily be a CON, just something noticeable.I would buy it again, even with the cons. NOTE: I deliberately bought the Knob version, because I have a touchscreen in my RV and I had problems with it being bumped on and off while wiping also, but that one has a lock on it so once set wiping won’t bother it. If that was true for this model, I would probably be a better option. The knobs didn’t turn out to be as good as my old one, but they are OK once getting used to it.

Amazing performance and tech for the $$.
A lot has happened to cook top tech in the last 30 yrs. Much of the changes are “law suit” protection so nanny controls are interesting. Example ,when you shut off a burner a red light flashes constantly until it reaches room temp. You can not leave a burner on with noting on it because it will automatically turn off very quickly and so it goes. Once you come to grips with this stuff how does it work you ask? Great. Heats quickly,its a snap to clean and maintain and looks nice. Only time will tell if it will be reliable but the 5 year warranty give one hope. My guess is it will not last 30 yrs like our old Sears cook top but being 83 yrs. old I am not very concerned.

It didn’t work
I installed it to replace an old cooktop. It didn’t work. It didn’t heat up. The power light didn’t come on. I tested the power and it was 240 volts. I returned it and got full refund without a problem. I cleaned my old unit and put it back in. It’s working great.

Love the stove. Don’t understand the knob order for the dual burner
I have wanted to change out my 40-year-old electric stove top for years. After reviewing ceramic cook tops, I ordered this Karinear 30-inch radiant electric stove. I knew my cutout was going to be close, but fully expected I was going to need to trim out additional space. I was not looking forward to that. To my surprise this unit fit in the existing space perfectly.I hooked this up to my existing 40-amp circuit. This was not a difficult project. I was able to do the entire job alone and relatively quickly. The only negative on this stove I see is the knob layout. I do not understand why the top knob is set to control the bottom right dual burner. There just does not seem to be any logic to it. I love the simplicity of this stove with the knobs. Overall, I am very pleased with the results. I have done a little cooking on it and it is working perfectly. I suspect I will be happy with this unit for years.

Works as a replacement
My husband ordered this to replace our cracked GE stovetop. The burner controls are completely opposite of my old stovetop and to me they make no sense. I struggle every time I try to use a burner as to which one turns on which burner. Seems they could have made this a LOT easier to understand. You have to press an ON button to turn the stovetop on, before you can select a burner. I would have returned this and kept looking, but my husband already had installed it and he was happy with it so it stays. The front burner seems to cook unevenly when I have a full pan. I have to turn the pan to cook everything evenly. I would not recommend this stove top. I think there is a better option somewhere out there, but I am stuck with mine.

Karinear cooktop: Easy installation, one safety problem
This replaced a broken glass cooktop from 10 years ago. My home has a 3-wire (black, bare copper, white) cable for this installation. The cooktop wires are bundled to make things foolproof, and they are. I am not an electrician, but I knew bare copper means ground, so I combined all coppers with a large wire nut. And then I found the bundle from the cooktop containing a black wire (and others) and combined them with my existing black wire. The third, or neutral, was bundled with my existing white wire. Easy peasy. The one problem with this cooktop is that my cats can easily walk across it and step on the button that turns on the unit. To solve this, I use some tiny tart pans turned upside-down and set over the on/off button. This has worked very well so far. Otherwise, the cooktop works correctly and is easy to clean using the scraping tool provided.

Update: Although not totally happy with my purchase, the seller was great. After addressing my concerns about the stove top they offered me a refund. If you’re on the fence regarding the product I would say you can buy with confidence knowing the seller stands behind their product and your satisfaction.

Doesn’t heat up

Hard wired 220
This unit seems very solidly built. It was delivered with open wires (no plug) at the end of the cable. It appears it must be “hard wired” into 220. Unfortunately, this will not work for my application and I must send it back. I have attached the wiring diagram from the instruction manual (since I didn’t see any of this information in the description).

Frustrating
Product arrived two days late after shipping delays (Thanksgiving week, somewhat understandable.) Upon arrival, hired a professional electrician to install. After wiring it up and flipping the breaker to check operation, it would come on and then immediately shut down, completely unresponsive to any touch controls. Reset the breaker, same thing. Checked all wiring numerous times, scoured the useless manual for any information, and found nothing. It mentioned that controls “could be locked” and stated to “unlock controls,” but did not state how to accomplish that. I could find no information online or a customer support number to call. $100 later, the electrician left just as confused and frustrated as I was. Never again. Take my advice and avoid this brand.

Good price and quality.
Was surprised by the quality and simple installation of this stovetop. The on off button for all the burners as well as the hot indicator lights are a nice surprise. The only downside is if your pots and pans have a grooved or raised bottom it will scratch the top. We had to purchase new pans but with the cost savings it didn’t hurt the budget.

How easy it is to fit and use

Affordable functioning easy to cook stovetop

Maybe to safe…..
Safety is killing me…It will shut down to often. I need to reset it to many times per day. Which means turn off the power at the circuit breaker and turn it back on. It cooks very slow.
