Purchased This Spur Of The Moment As Our Sony Bravia 1080i HD TV Stopped Working!
Update December 10th, 2023Our television seems to working fine still, however the surround sound receiver decided it was time to bite the bullet. It’s an Onkyo 5.2 model that we have had for over 10yrs . We purchased the tip of the line model and they gave us a rally deeply discounted price for the second unit. The flagship unit had to be repaired twice before we decided that it was not worth the price to ship it to the factory service center and we started using the smaller unit as the replacement surround sound system. This was back when we were still using our Sony Bravia and the much less expensive unit out lasted the much more expensive unit by about 3Xs the life of the 7.2 model. We had the unit in a cabinet style unit that the television sits on top of. After the first time we had issues with the expensive Flagship unit, I was reading that a closed cabinet was a terrible idea. I thought , well that makes a lot of sense, and cut the back panel off of the cabinet where the A/V equipment was stored. I also purchase a thermostatically controlled fan unit that was pulling off the hot air and installed two computer fans in the shelf so that it was getting fresh air in and hot air out. Basically so that the receiver was not just recirculating the hot air that the thermostatically controlled fan unit that was sitting on top of the receiver was expelling out the back panel that I had completely removed. We finally got frustrated with the high end unit and started using the cheaper “little brother” model of the same Onkyo series. We have two height speakers that we lost as the smaller unit didn’t have the ability for them. We basically have been using the speaker system that is built into the television. It took a while to get use to the difference in the sound and we reminded ourselves that we plan to purchase a new Surround sound system and a 4K television in the next few months, basically after we find out how much “Uncle Sam” is going to hurt us in April. We received some inheritance money and we have moved some investments around as the market is very precarious and we made some changes to our investments. The only thing we have noticed is that the sound of the television speakers built into the television sometimes seem to get louder or lower on thier own. We never noticed this until our surround sound system completely stopped working. I’m honestly surprised that it lasted as long as it did as Onkyo was notorious for having problems with their HDMI boards. Still a great television, even if it stopped working tomorrow, it has been a life saver for us as we watch a lot of television. The fact that we purchased a television that has a great picture for what it cost to fill up our SUV when it gets really low on gas is a huge comparison. It will be used in a guest room once we decide on what we’re going to do as far as buying a new entertainment system. The sound issue might have something to do with the fact that the Roku device has been on continuously since we purchased it, and we have been using it over the built in apps as it seemed like way too much work to move the streaming services from the Roku to the TVs built in version of streaming. It might be a setting that we overlooked when we started using the speakers on the television, or several other possible solutions for this issue. Still worth the 5 stars and worst case scenario is it will be my monitor for our computer. I’ve been told that Integra receivers are basically Onkyo receivers that are branded for sale by BestBuy. It’s actually really sad that Onkyo has been around since since 1946 and they have apparently had to file bankruptcy because of the problems with their newer receivers. Japan is notoriously know for making the absolute best audio equipment in the world. Unfortunately, they are not alone in this problem with their flagship products. My brother in law has a Yamaha Advangate 11.2 pre amp and main 11 channel amp that has had to be serviced for issues with the chipset on the HDMI boards. The pandemic is still making it hard for these popular brands with getting the best quality chips for their products. I have a two channel Onkyo receiver from the late 80’s that sounds incredible. It was a determining factor in the purchase of the new products. I also think Sony has some issues that they have never had in the past. We have a small television my husband purchased in Hong Kong in the late 60’s and it still works to this day. It’s just a lot of television and a little over 7 to 10 inches of television. But it was built to last and Japan is very proud of making products that will outlast the technology. So we are still “tire kicking” on what Surround sound processor we plan to purchase. It will have to handle bi-amped speakers, dual subwoofers, and the biggest and hardest thing to find is the ability to playback MQA CDs. I’m currently doing this with my MacBook Pro and a special program that unfolds the true depth of MQA. Teac makes a CD player that can playback this format natively , but it’s a Japanese version that I think is 220volts. So I don’t want to run a separate 220 line for that type of device. We will know exactly what we want when we start looking for the components and hopefully we can find exactly what we want. Otherwise , I can live with the volume fluctuations of the television speaker output and ad I mentioned, this is the most unbelievable High Resolution television we have ever purchased for the price of dinner for four friends, a tank of gas, or several other things we have purchased that we paid far more money for and we we’re let down after a couple of weeks. I just haven’t had time to really look at the Television settings to see if the sound is set up correctly. I was running a $300.00 optical cable from the television to the receiver made by Audioquest, and it worked perfectly. I’m going to try purchasing a couple of new HDMI cables and double check the receiver. Unfortunately, I don’t have any extra ones on hand. But it’s worth trying to get back the 5.1 audio experience.Update November 5th, 2023Well our Insignia/Fire TV is working better than ever. I took me a little bit of time to get the color set properly and I flat out refused to pay for someone to come out and calibrate the color as it was more than what the TV cost. It’s like it took some “burn in” time for the colors to really pop! They kind of looked either too light or too dark, but with the time we have had it, the picture seems much better looking and more vibrant than it originally looked out of the box. I don’t know if a TV is like speakers, but it seems like the picture looks more natural than it originally did when we first purchased the TV. I also read some reviews on the 4K models where the built in streaming service was causing issues with the apps cutting out and requiring a restart of the app. I personally am not a huge fan of built in streaming software and we have an external Roku device which is the newest model hooked up to ours and it works great. Plus you can upgrade your streaming device and not have to purchase a new television if it doesn’t get a firmware update. We have had a much better year after buying this television than before and I know it has nothing to do with the television, but we have updated our surround sound system and speakers. My husband’s melanoma is in the remission stage , but I try not to worry about that as it will be what it will be. If this television was to stop working today, I would still feel like we definitely got our money’s worth out of this purchase. I’m still considering buying one of the 4K models for my MacBook Pro as an external monitor instead of the screen on the MacBook Pro. Then I can put it in the folded up mode and add a cradle to hold the MacBook Pro and clear up some much needed desk space. We’re very satisfied with this television and people that come over can’t believe how little we paid for it. I honestly thought that unless we paid more than about $2,000 for a television, it would not be satisfactory, and boy was I wrong about that notion. I don’t see us upgrading anytime soon as we have gotten so use to the picture and the color of this model, I just think it’s our new TV for as long as it last.Original Review:We purchased a Sony Bravia from Best Buy in like 2003 when these Television started becoming popular and it was really expensive. I think it was over the $3,000 price range and it lasted for longer than it’s life expectancy. Several internet reviews of the model of Sony Bravia we purchased rated the life expectancy somewhere around the 10yr to 15yr range. Well, we have watched ours for several years longer and it was a very good television. Personally, I think Sony use to make really good products for the mainstream market, but now I’m not exactly impressed with their products anymore. Our Sony Bravia stayed on more than off and it started to act up in late July just when we were considering buying a new 4K Television and new Surround Sound Equipment and High Resolution 7.2.1 audio equipment for our den. It was almost like our old faithful Sony was listening to our plans and threw a monkey wrench into them. We also had purchased our dream SUV in the color and options we had spent the first part of the year looking everywhere for and it got rear ended. Then when we thought things couldn’t get any worse, we found out that my husband has Melanoma. Everything we didn’t necessarily need was put on the back burner. The Sony Bravia was state of the art for the time and it was a 40in screen, but the first HD televisions are not exactly the same as the newer models. It measured more like a 50 inch screen as the bezel was slightly larger and the speakers that are built in the television also took up more space as they where in the bottom of the television, which we never used them anyway. It’s is also several inches thicker and it’s actually a lot heavier than I remembered it being. It was also in a built in entertainment center and that was one of the obstacles we faced when considering a new 4K system as we couldn’t figure out how to get a larger screen size without tearing out the built in system and having the wall dry walled in and paint matched. Then there was the issue of where we we’re going to store the thousands of DVDs and Blu-Ray movies that we had amassed over the years that you can now basically stream. We have several movies on both formats and it’s always hard to find a movie when you have them packed in a closeted style area. The Sony Bravia still works for several hours and then the picture cuts out. I initially thought it might be the Roku or the Onkyo receiver that the company had several issues with their HDMI boards on several model years of their top of the line receivers. We sent a very expensive model in for repair work and it lasted about another year and I found a guy in Dallas who fixed it in like two hours, the second time it stopped playing sound and it finally stopped working. I was through with getting it repaired and unhappy with Onkyo forever. It was a networked $1,500 receiver that had a slew of problems that eventually led to them going out of business, as I’ve heard. We also got a deep discount on a brand new Onkyo 5.1 receiver at the time for like an extra $200. It’s still working, until I post this review, then it will die. That’s the kind of year it’s been for us and I hope it gets much better. The Sony Bravia has got something to do with heat and not getting enough circulation to it. But the parts are obsolete now and it wasn’t worth the trouble of finding the part, then paying too much for it, and then having other problems with the Television in a few days or so. I have listed it on a local website for free and we have the original box and paperwork for it, but no bites on it yet. Best Buy will take monitors and televisions up to 40 inches and I might call them and see if they’ll take this one. It’s larger than 40 inches but it’s a 40 inch screen. My husband immediately started looking at Amazon and I said that I didn’t think having a television shipped to our house was a good idea. The various delivery options I thought might be used to ship the item have been much harder on large items now than ever before. Sometimes the USPS driver has to deliver our four cases of Fuji water and he gets extremely frustrated with doing so. I have offered him a hand truck to help him, but he just kind of moans and says he’s got it. Then my husband read that we could pick this up at Best Buy. I looked at it and checked the compatibility with our receiver and said “buy it.” My thinking was if it last for three months, we haven’t spent several thousand dollars on a 4K television yet. I measured the opening and it fit with about half an inch on each side, but there plenty of room around the television for air to circulate and it is nowhere near as thick or heavy as our Sony. There’s also plenty of space behind it and it is much easier to get to the hookups than the older Sony Bravia was. We purchased the 42”model and it has been a great television. It took me a few hours setting up the surround sound to run through our receiver and then setting the picture was not exactly easy to do, but I think it’s just that we had gotten so use to the Sony picture, which was really good, that we couldn’t get it exactly like what we had gotten use to watching for over 20yrs. So the hook up was easy to do, but it took some time for me to realize that it isn’t going to look identical to what I had gotten use to watching. We had the Sony Bravia professional calibrated. I was not going to pay more for calibrating the television than it was purchased for. I thought the brightness was too bright , so I would adjust it and then it would look darker in some different channels and on Prime Video. I hit the reset button and it actually worked perfectly. It is not a matte finish like the Sony was, so the picture looks different, but extremely good. I honestly don’t know if a television has a “burn in time” like some audio equipment, but it seems like it looks better now after several weeks of using it basically more on than off. The picture quality is incredible and the lighting has kind of changed to match what I think it should look like the longer we have used the television. It has built in streaming capabilities through Amazon Fire, but I like our Dolby Digital DTS Roku player and it is what we use instead of the built in streaming media player. I’m just picky about how surround sound quality sounds and the Roku was already set up for streaming our Prime Video and some other apps. So it saved us from having to activate everything over again and it was just plug and play for the Roku player. Otherwise, the Amazon Fire being built into the television is just another example of how much you get for the price of the Television.I’m considering getting one of these for my Apple MacBook Pro for a monitor. I’m not a gamer and I don’t have to have a 4K display for what I use our MacBook Pro for anyway. The price of this is just unbelievable and there is not much else in this price range that you can buy and not have a lot of problems with. My newest iPhone case was almost as much as this television. The picture is incredible and the fact that you can pick it up at , in our case Best Buy, made the whole process easier than having this shipped through UPS or USPS. I would have never thought that you would ever be able to buy a 42 inch HD television for the price we paid which was under $150.00 when we bought this item. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product and how well it displays our favorite shows and movies. I’m still amazed at the fact that it was so well made, yet very cheap in price. It was perfect actually because our pre 2020 Onkyo receiver is the same refresh rate as the television. We might get that amazing 4K television but now it’s just not priority anymore because we have been extremely happy with the Insignia Television with Amazon Fire for just under two months now that we have not thought about spending the money on new Receivers, speakers , or other devices that we don’t have to have in order to enjoy a great television experience.Highly recommended for so many reasons. I have considered buying a couple more for the guest room and our bedroom, but we don’t watch television in bed. We had a very large television in there for years and I can’t remember even watching it.I’m still amazed by how little we paid for how much incredible quality we got for the price of what some hotels cost per night. When our vehicle was rear ended, the rental car was costing the guys insurance more a day than this television cost. I’m just amazed at this well built television can be so cheap and look so expensive in 2023!I started to post a photograph of the picture, but I don’t think it would be an accurate representation of the quality of the image as different devices produce different results for television photos. We had some paint samples sent to us from the painter and they looked entirely different in person than the images we received. So I’m glad we didn’t go on the images as the color was completely different in person.

It was the best compromise for me…
I’ve got a 32 inch Sony Bravia that I bought back when flatscreen TV’s first appeared on the market. Literally, you had to go to a specialized home furnishings or entertainment store. If you went to a big-box store, you’d only see CRT TVs for sale.Well, my old Bravia’s power cord has continuity issues after decades of mechanical strain. Not a big deal, I could repair it easily, but I decided it was finally time for an update and cruised Amazon’s Spring Prime Day event here in 2023.That ties into my review title: For the variety of equipment I use, this TV was the best compromise I could find. I really hesitated buying this TV. I’m not familiar with Insignia, and I’m certain this TV isn’t going to last a quarter as long as my venerable Bravia has. Before I dive into the particulars, here’s a summary for readers who just want the points:This TV has been good so far, having been used nearly daily for about six months. I have a couple of gripes, most of which can be adjusted, and some which are my fault due to the dated equipment I persist in using. I mostly play video games, but occasionally watch something on Prime TV. For both those functions, this TV works great, and it’s processing speed is noticeably faster compared to my old Bravia, which is nice for gaming (I doubt this TV could stand toe-to-toe against the latest, cutting edge TVs in that regard though).Onto the details.Out of the box, I was REALLY grateful that this TV is feather-light compared to my Bravia. Had my lower back been acting up, I would have needed to enlist some help moving the Bravia. But sore back or no, I can easily handle this Insignia. The included stand legs are cheap and flimsy. They can hold the TV up, but this TV sat way too low in my entertainment center; I had to hunch way forward just to see the screen. I immediately had to get a height-adjustable stand. With the adjustable stand, I’ve got the TV at a good viewing height and angle.Plugging in my devices, it was clear I was going to need splitters. One of the main reasons I got this TV is because it has an optical audio port, which is what I needed to run my old Yamaha audio receiver. I have an extensive collection of Nintendo and Sony video game consoles, and while I don’t intend to try and connect all of them, the three HDMI ports and single series of A/V ports are wholly insufficient. That situation is still being worked. But for the time being, I have my PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Wii U connected to the HDMI ports of this TV, and can connect one of my older consoles to the A/V ports. This TV handles it all in stride, and of course makes older game consoles video output look odd since it’s too crisp and fast for the console. But, that’s where yet more adapters will be needed, and why this situation is ongoing.Again, this TV runs itself and the connected equipment I’ve listed just fine. Picture quality is improved over my old Bravia, and audio is just as good. Since this is a smart TV, it has some extra functions, which I like, dislike, and nearly hate. With this TV not being locked to exclusive hardware like Roku does, I was able to program this TV’s remote to power on my old Yamaha receiver along with this TV. I like this! On occasion, I’ll join some friends online in voice chat, and thus don’t need my receiver to power on. I can just hold the remote very close to the TV, so the remote’s signal doesn’t hit the receiver, and I only power the TV on.This TV will send power-on commands to devices via the HDMI ports. I like, dislike, and hate this.Sometimes, when I come home from work, I just want to fire up the PS5 and game. Since the PS5 is connected to HDMI 1 (ARC port), firing up the TV also fires up the PS5 and receiver. One button gets me ready for gaming and I love it.Sometimes, I want to play games on my Switch or just watch some TV. If I don’t frantically mash the remote’s Home button after pressing the power button, the TV will stubbornly fire up my PS5 and keep reverting the input to HDMI 1. This annoys me, as sometimes I don’t mash the Home button enough or in time, and I have to wait for the PS5 to finish booting up, wake it’s controller up, and put the PS5 back to sleep mode and quickly change this TV’s input mode to either HDMI 2 (the Switch) or Home, which is the Prime TV main menu.Seriously, the TV is stubborn. There’ve been times where I’ve had to turn off my PS5 multiple times because this TV keeps sending power-on signals and forcing the input picture to HDMI 1. I hate that. But, the TV is just doing what it’s programmed to do. I either need to take the time and set my PS5 to not react to power on signals through HDMI, or just deal with it. I’ve messed with settings on the TV as much as I could, so all that’s left is to mess with settings on the PS5. But again, when I come home from work, burnt out and needing to just chill and relax, pressing one button to send me into a relaxing gaming session of No Man’s Sky is just wonderful. Again, like, dislike AND hate.Overall though, I’m satisfied with this TV. It’s not perfect obviously, but for what I need it to do, it does it well enough and still has connectivity for older equipment that I have that simply isn’t found on the new, cutting edge TVs that most people go for. The fact that this was on sale during Prime Day makes me even more willing to overlook it’s shortcomings.I don’t know if this TV is even available any more at the time of writing this, but if it’s available when you read this review, I’d recommend this TV if like myself, you don’t NEED a smart TV but don’t mind having one, and have older and newer equipment you’d like to connect to one TV.

Review for people wanting a “dumb tv”
I bought this to be a “dumb tv” (no internet connectivity, ever, not even for the initial setup). For that purpose it’s just “okay”. The tv itself is decent enough, but when you boot it up it asks you to connect to a wireless network first thing. Luckily you can bypass that without connecting. Afterwards, it will bug you to connect to a network if you ever hit the Alexa button on the remote. Also, by default, it’s going to try to use the Amazon fire tv Home Screen as often as possible, which needs the network so sometimes it might ask you to connect to a wireless network again, but you can always bypass it. The answer to making this at least semi usable is to find the option in the fire tv settings to use the last selected HDMI input as your default when you turn the tv on instead of the Amazon Home Screen. There’s some other options in the settings you can turn off also that may help, use your best judgment. Even after that though, the experience is liveable but not ideal. The remote can control your blu ray player IF that blu ray player or other media device if it supports HDMI-CEC, but otherwise the included remote does not seem to have a learning capacity where you can control it by inputting a universal remote code (there’s a page in the manual that links to remote codes, but the link is broken. I believe these fire tv remotes now are all Bluetooth / wifi controlled any maybe don’t even support infrared remote controls anymore, not sure). The remote has limited buttons, so no eject button or even skip chapters for blu ray control,, but you can get to the blu ray main menu and skip chapters from there most of the time. No channel buttons on the remote either if you hook it up to a cable box, you’ll probably need two remotes for that. Also, there’s a settings page to add a sound bar or audio receiver, I suspect that only works with Bluetooth enabled devices, but I don’t have either of those to test. The standby light is waaaay too bright, I put a piece of electrical tape over it, works okay like that. I also have my ps4 connected to this tv. If you have HDMI-CEC enabled on the ps4, turn it off; otherwise the home button on the ps4 controller will try to launch the fire tv Home Screen, or at least it did for me. Turning hdmi-cec off fixed it. So does it work as a dumb tv? Yes, but you will have to do battle with it on a minor level, but it’s livable imo. Picture is okay, sound sucks, use a sound bar or headphones (I think you can pair Bluetooth headphones to this but I haven’t tried that, read other reviews if you need that feature).

Fantastic picture quality
I needed a relatively compact and lightweight 24″ TV for the Master Bath and this one fits perfectly! Some of the reviews were discouraging but I went ahead and bought it anyway, picked up at my local Best Buy store.I have no idea how or if any of the “smart” apps, streaming or whatever of all those other features actually works and haven’t even tried to mess with them, all I wanted was a TV that would give me a good picture on Channel 3 on Live TV/Antenna and that’s it, so my review is based solely on that feature. It was easy to setup, the colors/picture quality are excellent, it’s lightweight, the mounting holes provided on the back fit exactly to the wall mount I also got and I’m happy, that’s all that matters to me.

Great bedroom tv!
So far this is probably one of the best TV’s I’ve purchased through the years. No mor fire sticks or anything like that. Picture is great. Can make a custom picture profile to turn down the light so you can sleep with it on for people like me with tinnitus. Which brings up another point. It has sound. Yes it’s loud enough to hear. When you watch them old movies with poor sound. The one and only flaw is the stand. Should be in the middle of the tv set so you can put it on a dresser. The stands mount on the corners so it takes up a to of dresser. But the tv is so good I bought the upper 40” one also.

42 inch great tv
Really like this tv for the price you can’t go wrong. Only drawback is, in its native fire tv form it didn’t give me an option to zoom the picture. Almost sent it back because of this until my wife found an option on another tv where you can go into the Amazon settings to change aspect. Didn’t work for this one, but after messing it I found that the display function comes up if you are plugged into HDMI 1, 2, 3 and composite. Which I think kinda defeats the purpose IMO. However I have a Roku plugged into HDMI 1 if I need to watch a movie that is only 16:9 (Mavel Movies). For the most part I can watch movies that are decent picture size on it. Other than that good picture, tv size and being really light weight can be wall mounted in my RV.

For the price if it worked at all, it would be worth 5 stars.
I’m deducting a half star for step one of the assembly instructions. Putting the legs on the TV was difficult. I had to widen the holes in the legs so the screws would fit through so they can screw into the body of the TV. I did this by forcing them though the back side and then backing them out. I suppose I could have drilled them out, too. Then I had to use a magnetic screwdriver to hold the screw until it could be fitted to the hole. The legs are designed so that there is not a person on the planet that has fingers skinny enough to fit the screw into the hole.So much for the major negative.Setup went as it should have. one nice feature is that login credentials are shown in clear text by default. Be patient with the software updates. You’ll get there. The menus are simple enough to navigate and I had no issue downloading and installing new apps. Another nice feature was that I could move the apps for which I have subscriptions to the front of the list.I registered the TV with my wife’s account on Amazon. This made the default name Maureen’s TV 2. and I can’t change that. It’s a minor annoyance. I really want the name “Dan’s Man Cave.” :)I called technical support to ask about this issue. They told me that I’d have to work this out with Amazon, but they were responsive. So tech support is available.Picture quality is good and it interfaces with my Direct TV box without any issues.I waited until tonight to stream the Thursday night football game. I wanted to see how it handles streaming live sports. Spoiler alert: it does it well.I had an issue with the sound and audio syncing. I went to settings > Sound and clicked reset. I also went to Settings > Sound > Advance and turned Trusound off. One of these worked. The sound is still good.As my den TV sitting right next to my 24 inch computer monitors it meets my needs perfectly.[Edit] with the help of a USB to HDMI adaptor. I made use of HDMI3 and connected the TV to my computer. It makes a good monitor, too!Definately worth the price.

Solid
Cons: the body is thicker than I expected (didn’t look at size specs, just price), the feet are flimsy and the picture is not great when viewed from an angle – from the side, it’s very washed out. I guess it also depends on what you’re watching. Some YouTube TV channels looked perfectly fine from the side while others did not look good at all. Otherwise the picture is sharp, the colors are bright and the blacks are black. The built-in speakers are adequate and can be turned up loud.Pros: It has an Ethernet port, the red/yellow/white AV ports, antenna port, coaxial port, optical output port, USB port, three HDMI ports and an audio jack. Anyone should be able to use this TV in whatever setup they have.Although it feels like a brick, it’s very lightweight and very easy to set up straight out of the box in less than 10 minutes. It seamlessly connected to WiFi – like, instantly – and once it completed its initial updates, I signed in with my Amazon account and was ready to add services.Signing into the various streaming services was also easy by scanning a QR code for each, entering the codes and then they were good to go. The remote is light and responsive, but sometimes a small bit of lag when switching between apps. Maybe a hardwired Ethernet setup would eliminate this completely? I do like the integrated Alexa features and how smoothly Chromecast and AirPlay work.Update: surprised to find that the TV functions just like an Echo Show/Ring doorbell viewer and can be set to automatically show the camera when you set up a Routine. Unfortunately it uses the entire screen, but a separate Routine to automatically shut the image off after a specified time and return to what you were watching takes care of that.Overall: solid and makes a great secondary or bedroom TV, but not good for hosting watch parties for sports or anything like that. I have it mounted in the kitchen/dining area where it’s quiet enough to watch without external speakers. If mounting on the wall, definitely use a moveable mount for best picture quality.

I LOVE THIS THING– Wish I’d gotten one LONG ago.
Took me a while to figure out my webcam (not use to doing this)– but I LOVE this thing.. super good quality- it’s 4k and gorgeous.. refresh is extremely fast because I never see flash- not even in video…I was advised NOT to get this because it was only $119– on sale– and was told I’d need at least a $500 one to get “good quality:”– what a line of hogwash– this thing is GREAT… I could NOT be happier!!!! I use it for MONITOR for my computer AND tv.. super EASY (I’m old and figured it out without the help of a teenager!! ha.)

Bluetooth, ethernet, audio, but no Spectrum app
I was looking for bigger screen than the 32″ inch Samsung TV in my bedroom to read the bottom on CNBC easier in the early morning. This 42″ screen is big enough visually but to wide for the desk with the existing TV. However, it is a very light TV so I mounted on the wall with a mount that did not require it to be nailed to a stud. 1080p is more than enough to watch most programs since most are not 4K yet. Besides CNBC will not be more visually appealing in 4K. It usually uses very old photos of it hosts and guests so that they look a lot different when they are talking live. Sometimes poor quality Zoom could be a “positive”. I prefer using the ethernet to network versus wi-fi and Bluetooth when listening to Amazon for music or other channels for music, but the TV speaker are better than I expect for a low cost TV. It is easy to download apps. Since the Sprectrum app is not available for this TV and most TVs, I downloaded the CNBC app and other apps that I normally watch through the Spectrum app on my Roku and Samsung TV. I have watched OTA channels so I do not need the Spectrum app of that. This TV tuner is as good as most of my TV and DVR tuners. Since I am not allowed to have an outdoor antenna, my flat antenna can get most OTA channels with this TV. I get over 130 channels with this TV as well as most TVs since Southern California has a lot of OTA channels. For about $180, it has all the features I was looking for except for the Spectrum app and I can always use my Roku Ultra if I need that app to watch a program. I live in an HOA where a large segment do not subscribe to cable since they want to watch foreign language programs that is more plentiful on OTA than on cable. Too bad they do not want to be an HOA director to allow outdoor antennas since it may get a few more of those channels since the towers are in multiple directions in Southern California. I miss my outdoor antenna reception that I had in my house and could pick up more than the 130 channels that I get with a flat indoor antenna. The other cnegative is the remote since it does not have numbers so switching channels when watching OTA is not quick. I have another TV remote that is compatible with Insignia but the number keys do not work on the Insignia even though the other keys work with it. I was not willing to paying about double the price for a Samsung with a similar size screen just to have the Spectrum app on the TV. Also, the newer Samsung remotes also do not have number keys but fortunately old remotes with numbers work on some of the newer Samsung TVs. Not every person who buys a new TV will only stream. Some will also watch linear TV and want to key in numbers. Strange that Samsung TV plus channels have 4 digit channels but the remote has no numbers for direct access and the TV does not made to recognize voice commands. This TV was delivered about 4 days earlier than expected when I was notified when it was first shipped. Luckily Best Buy did not use its own trucks/vans to deliver since I did not renotify security to let them though since security told me Best Buy did not have the same blanket pre-approval that Amazon delivery has. Whatever service did the last mile had that pre-approval or Best Buy would probably had to come back a second time to delivery it. This TV is light enough for a senior citizen to mount on a wall without assistance.

I can’t believe how nice this tv is! The picture is SO crisp and clear. It was super easy to set up too. It practically set itself up. I bought this for a gift and now I want one. It got here FAST, too. Seller was great also.

Great little TV with simple out-of-the box setup and a great picture.
This was for a present. The last present I got for her, she said she hated and threw at me. Fortunately, it was only a pair of pajamas. This one, I attached it to the wall while she was gone. And hid all the screwdrivers.

Serviceable cheap TV. Nothing special but does the job.
To be fair, my requirements are pretty easy. I needed a TV that could be connected to my stereo/video system to replace an old flat screen. This does the trick although the picture quality is nothing to brag about; but what do you expect for the price? Probably more bells and whistles than I need (I use the Fire interface rarely … still using my Roku device, so Fire is a little redundant for me). However, the Fire interface does work pretty well … could imagine it would replace Roku features, for the most part (probably not as many apps, but seems to have those that are most common). This is an upgrade for me, probably not for most people, so take my rating in context. Your opinion might vary.

Excellent TV for the price
I found this Insignia NS-32F202NA23 1080P TV here on Amazon then saw I could pickup at BestBuy. So I went to the store instead and found it cheaper and it came with a Echo speaker, AppleTV and Amazon Music trial subscriptions bundle. Very happy already!I got it home, unboxed it. Small disappointment with the feet; they’re cheap, weak plastic but do have pads so don’t scratch my cabinet. Medium disappointment is that the remote is cheap, thin plastic. The back of it won’t stay on, so I had to put tape on it. Also, it’ s pretty small and not comfortable for me to use.I turned the TV on and everything works great! Connected to my wifi, updated itself with no problem. Several common apps (Netflix, Hulu, Prime, YahooTV) are already pre-loaded or easy to download.I added an antenna to watch local channels. Took me several days to understand and change settings so FreeVee isn’t included in channel search when I’m on the Antenna input (so annoying!!).I bought this TV for a 600sqft bedroom/office/suite. Its perfect in this space. The picture is clearly visible from every angle. The sound wasn’t great but I grouped the TV with the free Echo speaker, now sound is more than great. I connected HDMI to my laptop as a second screen. Its kind of big but otherwise works well with Windows and my PC and Steam games. I haven’t tried Airplay yet but I paired my iPhone and my music come out nicely on the Echo speaker; I haven’t tried the TV’s own music apps, I prefer controls on my iPhone. So there’s a couple disappointments but for less than $100 this is an excellent TV.

Liked it so much I bought a 2nd
For the price, its awesome. Clearly beats the higher end options. I got one, then bought a 2nd.Pros- Everything other than the stand. Especially for the price.Cons- the stand. Its hard to put on (other reviews are right), but it makes the TV look smaller. Led to much family drama, and I had bring out a measuring tape to point out it was 2″ bigger than the old TV.Still, I’ll by a 3rd if any of the other TVs die. Great product, awesome price.

Great TV for a kitchen or bedroom!
It’s small, it’s Smart, it has an abundance of input options and it might be the best product for this price range.Pros:* Great price* Good AV quality* What it does, it does well. Any missing features are fairly minor significance.Cons:* Little to no tv stand versatility – it’s a fixed angle.* UI menu performance is just a bit slow.* Remote preset buttons (Netflix, Prime Video) have some weird options. Do we really need a button for DirectTV over Disney+, or Peacock instead of HBO/Hulu

INSIGNIA 32″ SMART TV
Is replacing an LG smart TV from 2015. It was only 720p & the image was stretched vertically so peoplelooked like string beans, tall & skinny. This one is 1080p. I don’t have that problem now. I plugged my pair of remote speakers into the headphone & USB jacks but they simply wouldn’t work. Eventually they worked fine on their own. The remote would not work even though the batteries were good and had proper Voltage per my VOM. I replaced them with 2 Ni-Zn 1.6V batteries and it started working great. BTW another reviewer said the remote was cheap plastic. I had NO problem with mine. It’s a standard solid remote & the cover stays on tight. Seems like operator error to me. One thing I like is I only need the single remote to turn on my TV and get into all the options. Since this TV is a “Fire TV” the remote is quite similar to my Fire-stick. With the LG model I had to use a separate remote just to turn the TV on and then use my Fire-stick for all the other options. The LG sat on a pedestal which placed it at the correct height. This one uses 2 feet that are wide spread and useless for me. I had to set this TV on top of my wireless router box to put it up where I want it. One thing I really enjoy is if I leave a movie I am watching it keeps track of where I left and starts up at that location upon starting the movie again. I did a test and watched 3 different movies and this one kept track of where I left all three of them. I had to keep a .txt file on my computer to keep track since movies on the LG would usually start from the beginning when restarted. Guess that’s why this a ‘smart TV’. GGGGG One thing that is weird is my 2 remote speakers are back lighted. The lights stay on for 6 minutes when I exit from the TV then they turn off. I wonder why they do that. They used to turn off as soon as I shut the LG TV down. I LOVE this TV! Technically it is not a TV, is really a ‘monitor’ but that’s another matter.

I use it for MONITOR for my computer AND tv.. super EASY (I’m old and figured it out without the help of a teenager!! ha.)

Great TV for a great price.
I am so far very pleased with my purchase. My television arrived a day early and in perfect condition. The television is exactly as expected. It’s a great little TV for an amazing price. I purchased the 32 inch television a day before Black Friday for $99.00. So, far I have no complaints. The television looks great and setup was extremely easy. Took about 10 minutes total. Whether the television lasts, that I cannot comment on. I have only had the television for a few days.

Good Picture Quality
I like the TV was very easy to set up and the streaming apps I use very easy to install. Picture Quality is great, sound what you would expect for the price and I love the Alexa Remote. I thought I would have a problem setting it up with my cable but all I did was plug it into HDMI and it just worked. I can easily tell Alexa the port and cable TV is displayed. I just received it yesterday so will update if any problems, but so far all is well.

Very nice but color is a bit off
I purchased 2 of these 43in tvs to use as side displays for my sim racing rig and they work great the color of them is slightly off from my other display and other tvs I have.I also have a 32in one that is used as a desk top display and occasionally streaming Netflix or hulu on and the speakers are fine, apps and connecting it to the internet works great. The remote is simple and easy to use how ever pressing the power button will turn on any and all of the tvs but control will only with the one that came with it.

One of the few full HD TVs made in this small size (24″)……..and worth every penney!
We have owned other Insignia TVs including a 43″ 4K Tv we use in a patio room that’s served us well for over 5 years. We wanted to replace our 720 27 inch kitchen with something smaller to save space and still be able to see it clearly. This little 24 inch 1080 tv has a very clear, sharp and high quality 1080 picture. It’s smaller screen size still blew away the more pixelated and larger screen size of the Samsung 27 inch 720 TV it replaced.Text and faces and general detail is much more clear and defined and we have not really noticed any negative factors of going to a screen about 3″ less diagonally in size. All of the Fire apps works that we installed including, Netflix, MAX, Paramount+, Disney+, and STARZ. Also, we notice the CPU/processor in this TV is fast! Menu selection and app, input and settings selections are fast to access and move though what you are doing in the menus.Don’t expect built-in speakers for any flatscreen TV to sound that good. This tv has downward firing speakers and a thicker base to it, allowing a slightly larger speaker. You can hear what you need to, but, for us, we’ve been using the -Polk Magnify Mini 2- sound system for our kitchen tv and this new TV works perfectly with it to give us full sound in a very compact system in our kitchen.Check out the Polk models, there are two, one with surround and one without, with both having a nice subwoofer that is included. We have the non-surround model and it works perfectly in our kitchen. These two Polk models are sold on Amazon too! If you want to hear very clear dialog, I strongly suggest checking out these Polks! For under $140, you get a small full def tv here that has a full, in-depth menu to tweak settings to your hearts content. When I purchased this TV at our local Best Buy, I wasn’t aware it has a menu that’s as complete as a much larger, higher end TV, but, yes, it has it all for the setup menu.5 stars all around. If you need a compact, space savings TV, but, want one with a full HD (1080) capability, this is the one to seriously consider. There a VERY few full 1080 definition TVs in this size and although it’s only a 24 inch screen, the difference between 720 and 1080 will be obvious no matter what any sales person will tell you. (Seeing is believing). If you want full quality sound for movies and other audio needing crisp dailog and full bass with a dedicated subwoofer, please do check out the Polk Mini 2 models at Amazon, you will not be disappointed!

With hearing deficits, I can still hear and understand the audio
The fire stick would not download. It would start and then freeze. This happened a couple of times. When I installed an external fire stick, everything progressed normally. This is the second small Insignia I have owned as a second TV. This one is quite improved. The picture quality is fine with me. The previous one had a very muddy audio. Sentences were like a long string of indecipherable sounds. This one has such clear audio that I have no difficulty understanding every word. ALSO, screws? What screws? I did not receive them. The tv is sitting on a table without the feet. Hopefully, it won’t all over. At any rate, the feet seem very wobbly.

Great budget TV/monitor
This is a great choice for a small smart TV. I bought a cheap PC and has been using my large TV for a monitor but this is a great addition to my office. It serves as a TV when my PC is off as well. The PC picture quality is not as good but it does not matter as it serves the purpose well. The TV function is acceptable for a small TV in this price range. Oh, did I mention the whole package was so light (maybe less than 8lbs). I thought there was no TV in the box at all but the real TV is so light!

The addition of the “Fire” programming to a perfectly good Insignia TV makes a difference…
And not a really good one it seems. This is a nice TV, 32″ really nice resolution and great sound. I use it in my bedroom and at 30 the sound is louder than my last one at 100. I am happy with the TV itself. I am not pleased with the Fire aspect, but since that’s what makes it an Amazon deal – I bought it anyway. The main problem with the Fire program is that it doesn’t seem to like “pause”. Fire turns the TV off at some point, initially I though turning the screensaver off was the answer. That kept it on for more than 5 minutes, but it still went off after 10 minutes on Pause. That I can’t stop and it is not addressed anywhere in these reviews or on Amazon. It is NOT a function of the Insignia. I like a basic Insignia TV. I was about to box it up until I decided to put the ROKU back on it.I don’t like the Home screen on Fire because it is not customizable like ROKU. I tried to add my apps to Fire, but they won’t be organized properly. The ROKU is the way to go.Apparently, when the TV is not in Fire mode, it behaves as a very nice TV. I put the ROKU show on hold for more than 15 minutes and it never shut off. There you have it! Nice TV especially for the sale price, with options to watch it as Fire, add as DVD/HDMI or just use your ROKU. User issue solved, but it would be nice if the Fire programmers could correct that auto off issue so I could use the rest of it. Sad😐

So far so good, but you need to measure…
I bought this TV as a replacement for an old one in my office. To my great surprise, I found that the legs are so far apart the TV wouldn’t fit on my cabinet. So, had to completely rearrange my office. Be sure to check the size of table you need to accommodate the legs. Unlike my old TV, they are at the very end which makes it difficult to place. Would be great if they redesigned this feature.
