Impossible to setup WiFi printing – Return Product

I love the small portable Epson ES-60W size of this scanner. Setting up the scanner driver was easy. Setting up USB to the laptop was easy. Setting up for WiFi scanning, was super painful. I’ve tried about 6x and still no luck even after following the exact instruction from Epson trouble shoot and the WiFi setup guide from the app.So I returned this scanner for the larger Wifi version Epson ES-300W.Same issue gave up and returned both scanners ES-60W and ES-300W.Got the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1300 and both the USB printer to laptop and WiFi scanning was a breeze. Super easy. Took less than 10 mins to set up and ready to go. Epson, you need to get your new scanner setup like Fujitsu ScanSnap.

    Perfect for business needs

Wow. I am an attorney and increasingly mobile with COVID. Needed immediate ability for mobile scanning because I had to travel to a court and obtain documents. Fast Amazon shipping and positive experience with Epson desktop scanner for my work needs made me pay 2x what I wanted to for this device. Absolutely worth every penny. Perfect portability (could not possibly be smaller), super easy install of software, ease of use, quality of scans, terrific speed. I am amazed. Do not hesitate to purchase this for your on the go needs. It is astounding and will do what you need for business and certainly for personal needs.

No reason to pay $60 more for 60W over 50! Oh and you can’t scan to a thumb-drive or sd card either.

The 60W has a battery charge display and wifi over the 50. That’s it.Let’s talk battery display … who cares. When it’s not fully charged or enough charge, it’s light flashes on 60W and 50. So who really cares?Let’s talk wif in the 60W. It doesn’t really work. You can download the phone app and it will insist on you giving it your GPS location otherwise it will not pass. (1) Why if it connected via my own private hot-spot (wifi) does it now need to know my GPS. My android tablet doesn’t have a built-in GPS tracker. Even if it did I’d turn it off. So why does it need this? (2) Wifi still will not work after you allow it access your GPS location. It still wants to go back to the USB it was plugged into. (BTW, others have had same problem). So back it goes. I’m getting the 50 and saving $60!

    Great for the home office

Been working at home since March and was making do using my phone to send documents. This is so much easier and convenient. If you read and follow the instructions, it’s easy to attach to your network and then you can use it with you iPhone, iPad, laptop, etc. Easy to scan multiple pages for one document. After you scan, the utility provides good options for email, Word, etc. The scanner connects via USB cable or wifi so it is convenient. The battery life is okay, but keep an eye on it if you’re running just on battery. Scans b/w and color. Great little device.

    Epson Scanner ES-60W

My Epson ink jet printer/scanner died so I decided to replace it with a laser printer/scanner. Due to cost, size and avaiIability of a laser unit, I decided to purchase a Canon laser color printer and this inexpensive Epson scanner. I’ve only had it for a couple of months but have easily scanned both letter size documents and pictures. The quality of the scans are very good and I would definitely recommend this Epson unit for anyone looking for a compact, cost effective option.

    Super speedy scanner

Somewhat difficult to pair with WiFi but once it gets going works well. Downside no SD slot and product manufacturing date is 2018 which means support windows is suspect.

    Exactly what I wanted.

Small, fast, simple. The auto feed feature is FANTASTIC.My only issue has been setting up the wireless on it, but this is likely because the Wi-Fi requires a browser log in.The software that it uses isn’t too much BS, simple and effective.

NOT click/load and scan to my heart’s content

I am completely dissatisfied with this experience. The start up documentation is a joke. The whole series of setup is…trying. But that done…because, yeah, I’ve setup a lot of tech in my life. Two successful scans, which, again, is not click and scan…it is reset every bloody setting, including the name (it defaults to whatever code they programmed each time, something to do with current date which is utterly useless)…Most of the store receipts on that shiny paper get stuck, misfeed and “jam” the machine…took 4 tries per. (Regular paper is fine). I think part of the problem is how lightweight the scanner is (sure that’s nice for carrying) with no feet to grab and stay steady; I had to ‘encourage’ the feed which moved the machine…holding everything and nudging…so bloody awkward. Then it just stopped working. App got frozen trying to find the scanner. Power off/on, reset, reconnect…nothing helped.I do not have time to troubleshoot something that is supposed to make my life easier, but requires just as much handling as the flatbed scanner. I WISH it was a matter of loading receipt after receipt and document after document…would really save so much time. Complete FAIL.For reference: Chromebook/iPhone/iPad user with 40 years in computers.Could I have spent more time to get it to work and maybe be a little more efficient? Probably. But by this time, I really wanted to put it under the tires and run over it. Tech is supposed to make less work…if it makes more, why bother?

Out Of The Box It’s 5 Stars

Owned epson portable scanner in this series before. The micro USB always give out. This is wireless but you still have to charge it. For a portable scanner the old saying: When you need one, you really need it, applies. So decent price and can easily transport.

    Very impressed!

I was kind of skittish about buying such a device, but so glad that I did! Initially upon opening the box I was worried as it is very light weight and does feel kind of cheap, but upon hooking it up, I’m really impressed. It is small enough to mount to the top of my 24″ monitor, which I was hoping it would, and also glad that it is so lightweight. I mounted a small basket on the back of the monitor as well and this works great! Our printer is in another room and to scan I would have to go there and scan to the PC in office. Since I do this randomly throughout the day maybe 20 times or more, having this item reduces the amount of time walking back a forth. I use a high end PC, so the speed of the scanner and my PC I can scan a document/photo within a minute or less exactly where I want it on my PC. Easy setup, portable and so far no glitches.

    Stopped working

This little scanner worked great- until it didn’t. I have no idea why it just stopped feeding a document for scanning. Was working several months ago, but when I plugged it in today- it no longer takes a document. Seems weird. There is nothing on their website that addresses this issue other than send a cleaning sheet through- nice idea if it actually grabbed the cleaning sheet and ran it through!

Overall it’s fine….consistent connectivity issues when scanning to a desktop

Pretty easy setup, though every two to three times I turn the scanner on to scan and open the software on my desktop, the scanner isn’t recognized. Additionally, the “scan now” button has never worked and I have to initiate the scan through the software. Plus, the battery life is pretty poor. Other than all of that, it works fine.

    Very easy and portable

This is a sleek, portable and easy to use scanner. It’s great for documents you need to save. My scanner on my copier broke so I got this rather then getting a new copier/scanner. It saves me from having to keep getting up to scan each page since I can set it right next to me. I don’t think it’s the best if you’re scanning pictures since it pulls it through to scan rather then a flat bed to keep it from moving. But great for documents.

    A couple of issues

I actually like this scanner but it has a few flaws. One of the main things I liked about the scanner is that you could actually directly scna to your tablet/phone thru wifi/bluetooth. A few issues. One the quality of the images scanned is supposed to 300DPI, but it doesn’t even seem like that much, maybe 150 or 200 DPI. It also had a problem with scanning certain pictures, I think they were mainly Fuji film pictures, it just wouldn’t scan them. Support is almost non-existent. Tried to get help and couldn’t find it. I ended up returning this and buying the Fujitsu Scan SnapiX100 Wireless and am happy with it.

    Great little scanner!

I waited to write this review until I had used this scanner for a while. I’m so happy with it! Very easy to use, software is very user friendly, extremely small size (easily stored in a drawer). I’ve used for documents as large as 10 pages. Battery holds a charge for a long time. Scan quality isn’t perfect, but I think for the price and size, it’s very good. I highly recommend this for a home scanner.

    Works Great!

This little scanner works just as good as our large desktop scanner and they scan really quick! The documents are very clear and readable. We bought several of these portable scanners to give to our truck drivers so that they could scan their Bill of Ladings as soon as they deliver. These scanners were the perfect solution for us!

    Great scanner except…

I have had this scanner for over 2 years, after one year a line started appearing on the left 1/3 of the page. About 4 months ago it started disconnecting from the laptop intermittently. I found that the internal battery is not holding a charge and the device will not work with the USB cable alone. I looked for a replacement battery with no success. Well, at least it lasted 2 years.

Man, why did I not buy this before!!

This little thing is awesome if you are like me. If you, like me, keep all paperwork from doctor visits or mechanic or other various paperwork you will want this. I took years of statements and scanned them all relatively quickly with its quick feeding and short time per scan. I knew that once I scanned all my papers I would not need a bulky machine for some time so this little thing was awesome to do the job and then easily be put away for later. And when I did need it again I would simply take it out and plug it in and be scanning in less than a minute.Keep in mind what your needs are though. If you are in a office and scan tons of things daily, you may want to upgrade to another unit which will be in place all the time and not put away. This does not have a feeder so you are feeding each sheet by hand. Yes it would have been nice to have the feeder for my initial usage of some 200+ pieces of paper but after that initial run it would have been useless for me doing one or two pages here and there. It scans very nicely but limited in what you scan, this is more for printed receipts and or other paperwork compared to perhaps scanning old pictures. It does a great job at centering the images and can easily do continuous scanning of pages into one large PDF or multiple images, but it is also only one side so you need to flip the page but it is happy just scanning page after page. The software could be better, more options but it gets the job done with little flair but consistent and reliable.

    Wifi Setup

I want to share my experience how to connect ES-60W to existing Wifi router1. Charge ES-60W’s battery until full2. Download software from Epson (Driver and Tools combo)3. Connect ES-60W to the PC/Laptop with usb cable (need usb cable for the first time setup)4. Turn on the power using Power button (wait until the solid light)5. Turn On Wifi using Wifi switch6. Install the downloaded software and choose setup device using Wifi (not usb)7. Follow the setup screen(a few step) if your PC/Laptop connected to 2G wifi. It will auto detect the wifi for you.If not you have to manual input SSID name and password (Make sure your Wifi is 2G and Wifi password is correct)8. Wait and wait until it say setup wifi failed (this happened to me but don’t worry go to the next step)9. Unplug usb cable from PC/Laptop10. Turn off ES-60W (Wait until all light turn off)11. Connect the USB to the charger (not PC or Laptop. for power only)12. Turn On ES-60W13. Now ES-60W will show the Wifi connected sign on the display (Your phone/laptop can connect to 2G/5G Wifi after setup)

Both scanner & computer must connect to 2.4Ghz network

I’ve wanted a rotary scanner forever just to reduce the amount of paper I’ve got lying around, and this one satisfies my needs. Beware though when you try to install it on a wi-fi network. It will only connect to a 2.4Ghz network. If your router broadcasts both 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz networks, then you can choose; your computer MUST be connected to the 2.4Ghz network also.If you have a router that does NOT broadcast both networks (such as the AT&T/ARRIS BGW210 gateway), you will have to block your computer from connecting to the 5.0Ghz network on the router. On the AT&T/ARRIS BGW210, you can do this on the MAC Filtering tab (in the router). On the 5.0Ghz side, create a “deny” list and add the MAC address of the computer(s) that you want to use with the scanner to the list. This will force that computer(s) to connect to the 2.4Ghz network.Once that’s done, you should be able to use the scanner WITHOUT connecting it to your computer via USB.This worked for me.

    Will never go back!

I’ve never had a portable scanner before and after buying this, I will never go back to not having one. This has been so great and I have been so impressed with everything so far. I bought it initially for work and scanning documents, but have since used it for other documents like medical receipts. This is great since medical bills are a tax write-off and having to store receipts for a year is stressful and tedious. Having them scanned and organized for this and to have as a reference when talking with insurance has been amazing.Scanning is so fast and easy, even double-sided documents. I’ve also scanned long receipts for car rentals and the scanner had no problem with scanning such long documents. There have been no problems so far and I bought a case that helps with the portability and storing. I have been using this more often than expected and as helped so much with organization.

    Small, but awesome

My wife is retiring from the Navy after 20 years, and she asked me to scan her medical records into files that can be sent to the VA. I have a scanner built into our printer at home, but if I had to toss a guess out, I would say each page on that thing would be about 20-25 seconds to scan. She has 5 volumes of medical records… That’s not happening. I’d considered contracting out this work as there are companies that will take the medical records, scan and index them, but I decided this scanner should work and provided at least some of the features the contract company was offering. The software is pretty easy to set up, and it’s not difficult at all to get it connected to a wireless network. I admittedly don’t know if it would work without being connected to my PC, but as I was doing A LOT of scanning I kept it hooked up to keep the battery charged. So far, I’ve scanned about 3/5 of her records, which took me about 4 hours.I’m very happy with the quality of the scans, and the software which allows saving the pages as searchable PDF files. I think my only gripe would be that once you save all the files, the page with all the scans closes. I’m not sure if those scans are saved on my PC anywhere, and haven’t really had the time to dig into it (for instance, if I wanted to go back and save parts of volumes without having to rescan the pages). It’s something I will look into.I also scanned a few long receipts, as that’s a future use I wanted the scanner for, and it worked well enough. It’s a little difficult to keep them feeding straight if they’re REALLY long, but it’s not a deal breaker.Pros: Ease of use, good software, very fast when compared to a traditional scanner you’d find on a household all-in-one printer.Cons: Not exactly sure if scans are saved individually, and the charge did run down to half even while hooked to my PC during scanning. But I was doing A LOT of scanning over and over again, so probably wouldn’t be an issue except for VERY heavy use.Overall very satisfied with the scanner.

    Great product, poor documentation

I was super frustrated when I first got this scanner. I love that it is wireless and I love that it is cordless. The only problem is that I could not get it to work, which is sort of important. The documentation that comes with the scanner is useless. Even when I went on line and downloaded the manual and followed the instructions I could not get it to work. The problem was network connectivity. The problemNetwork connectivity. Getting it set up from my computer through the Epson application failed multiple times. I made sure to use the 2.4 Ghz wifi and it still failed. The solutionI finally broke down and used the WPS button on the router. This worked perfectly. I suggest you do this and save yourself some time and frustration. The resultThis thing is perfect for our needs now that it works. I have set it up on two laptops and a desktop. It is simple to operate, very small, and produces acceptable results. I would give it five stars but the documentation is poor and the network setup through the PC app did not work. My 4-star rating on tech support is probably slightly unfair as I did not contact tech support, but for a consumer device you should not need to and documentation is sort of tech support.

Nice little scanner, super light weight for carrying around

This scanner works very well with my MacBook and iOS devices. Only thing is, for using the direct wifi mode on iOS, you need to turn off the Cellular Data access to the Epson DocumentScan app. (See pictures attached.) I had trouble making my iPad and iPhone’s DocumentScan app recognize the scanner for couple of hours. Then I realized the Cellular Data option needs to be turned off to work. Once I did that, never had a problem again.

STOPPED WORKING AFTER 2 WEEKS, TECH SUPPORT USELESS

This scanner stopped working after 2 weeks. It would no longer connect to WIFI unless I re-uploaded the scanner drivers and re-opened the scanner software any time I needed to scan. So if I had 10 documents to scan, I had to re-upload the drivers and re-open the scanner 10 times. In addition, the manual scan button stopped working, so I could only access the scan functions via the software only. Both Amazon customer service and Epson Tech Support were absolutely useless. Amazon transferred me to 6 different agents all who kept asking the same questions over and over and eventually transferred me to Epson. Epson transferred me an additional two times before I gave up trying to get product support. This scanner is a total waste of money – DO NOT PURCHASE. I own Brother and Canon scanners too and recommend going with one of those brands instead.

Great Little Scanner But Low Resolution

It is very easy to setup on WiFi using the phone app. No need to plug into a computer. It scans very fast and is small enough to be portable in almost any computer bag, backpack or most purses. The only issue I have is that the max resolution is only 300dpi. It would be nice if it would give 600dpi so documents don’t look poorly.

I always prefer the portable option. If it’s small, compact, or can go wherever I go, I want it. I previously purchased one of those portable thermal printers and immediately wanted a scanner to go with it. I looked at several different models and decided to try this one. I needed to scan in some paperwork and receipts for work and this handles the job easily. Setup with my Android phone was simple enough. The app is pretty bland, but simple enough to use. My hotel receipts were scanned and ready to send off within minutes. Prior to this, I’ve had to use whatever business center the hotel had or search for a FedEx Office, but now I can just toss this in my computer bag. It’s so compact; it’s actually smaller than I expected, and I was already expecting small. Even though I bought this for travel, it’s capable enough to use at home as a primary scanner. My only want is I wish this came with a case. I purchased a soft case and use that before putting it into my laptop bag. I like that extra bit of protection.

    Adequate travel scanner

This scanner does a decent job for traveling purposes. Quality of scan image doesn’t equal a more expensive scanner, but does the job.

Good when working, but not worth the hassle

Wanted to like this product. 4/5 when it was working, but not dependable. Had Amazon replace the first one in case it was just a dud.Pros+ Much quicker than my 4 in 1 printer, especially on the software side+ Can install Epson software to keep documents together in one saved PDF+ Up and running in 15 min+ Easy to use scanner and software.Cons:- Need to get full user guide from online- 20 to 40% of the time, had to rescan a page because the page was too crooked. aligning with the left side guide doesn’t help much- 1st scanner started showing a black line on the page after 60+ scans on the first day. went through the troubleshooting steps, but no luck- 2nd scanner was working for a day or two. after a week of not using, plugged in and got an error (e1460-b305). unable to use and fix

    just too much headache

needed a portable photo scanner that i can use with my ipad since i didnt want to bring my laptop. i wanted to scan old photos into my google drive and boy…this thing was not easy. you first use their wifi and it’ll disconnect after awhile and reconnecting is a pain. once you scan it, you turn back on the ipad wifi and then go to google photo for upload. using their own app is a pain.ended up using google’s photo scan.

    It does the job! Satisfied

Compact. Easy setup. Simple software to get those scans previewed and saved. It doesn’t scan thin paper receipts, however my fix is taping the receipt onto thicker paper and scan in the receipt and then crop the receipt in the program. Also wish light and dark adjustments to the scanned document were available where the cropping access is. This feature is available in advanced settings but access to this feature could be better.

    Great idea but poor performance

I use this neat little scanner about once a month. I keep it in a cabinet to keep away dust and keep it clean. Well, once it starts creating lines of various sources, trying to find the scanner cleaner paper is nearly impossible and once you do find it, it is very unclear how to perform a cleaning. So worked great at first and is now a constant problem to be fixed with lines streaking through scans with no support or help cleaning it from Epson.

Works Good! -Just a little pricey!

Product is expensive given the quality, but it IS indeed as advertised! Easy to install and start using right away. From reading other reviews, I learned that it was a great idea to set it up and never move it. It will take some getting used to on how to feed the paper in. You don’t need to force it… Just properly line it up. It will grab it and make a small sound. Then you push the scan button. That’s pretty much it. The scanner is good. If you copy an ID card, you’ll have to line it up in the middle. Pretty clear picture instructions on that written on the scanner itself.

    So glad i got this

While doing some cleaning and organizing of the office at home, I realized i needed a device that would allow me to scan in and copy documents for easy storage and use. This was very easy to install and the step by step instructions during its use makes it very easy and practical. The clarity is perfect, documents feed through it a very swift and clean manner. The ability to put this in a backpack or briefcase makes it very portable, and it does not need an external power source to work. No regrets in buying it, i use it for both work and home which makes this an excellent investment.

    Solid Device

This is a solid plug and play device. Wifi did not connect but I didn’t thoroughly try to connect it wirelessly. Scan quality is great. Ease of use is great. Portability is excellent. I am fully satisfied with it. I’ve had it in my backpack, in a hard case, for a month or more. It has been banged around a little bit, scanned several hundred pages and it still functions like new.

This is a tiny scanner that works great!

I didn’t need to contact tech support so I didn’t rate it, but what a cool scanner this is. I hooked it up to my home computer, my laptop (both Windows 10), and then loaded the software on my iPhoneX from the AppStore. It was easy to install once I figured out what Epson was trying to say in their directions. It scans fast and the quality is good, not great. I have not tried photos yet, only documents. Super happy with this little guy. Traveling with it is going to be great. It’s little and light. I bought the Caseling case to go with it. I’ve only scanned a few things so I don’t know what kind of workhorse it will be, but I plan to put it to good use in a few weeks.

    Awesome little scanner.

Perfect compact scanner. Easily fits in a computer bag and is great on the go. If you need a compact scanner to handle small jobs (fewer pages) this device is outstanding. The set up was extremely easy, and it functions as described without issue. I only to do 4 to 5 page scan projects but It could handle more if you have the patients to feed it a sheet at a time. The feed time is fast and the bluetooth load time is fast as well. As soon as the scan is complete it is showing up on my laptop app.Highly recommend for a home or mobile office!

Small and perfect for personal use.

Easy to set up and scans very quickly and cleanly. Wifi setup was extremely complicated and couldn’t complete it. File name suggestions by the software are really odd. Still, highly recommended.

It’s a great little scanner that comes in very handy!

I’m in the trucking industry, running OTR (all 48) and I need to scan bills, receipts, scale records (when we weigh the truck after loading) and other docs for reimbursement purposes, I have had this scanner since November, 2019, and it works very well today with my Android device within minutes using the WiFi and the Epson app on my phone and iPad. I have had to replace my phone several times since I purchased this scanner, and downloading everything I need is easy, and getting the WiFi connection for this device is also a WITP. I can then store the scanner away in a place where “I can find it”. Notice how I put that in “quotes”. If you move around a lot like I do, make sure you keep track of it because it’s easy to misplace it,or leave it somewhere. I would highly recommend purchase of this scanner. Allthough mine is the ES-60, I do not know the difference between this ($159.99) and the ES-50 ($99.99).

    Powerful little scanner

The software is super easy to manage and the scanner itself is so powerful and quick. It’s a pretty high DPI for such a small thing. It only fits one standard page of paper at a time, so if you are trying to scan something outside of the dimensions of a normal page, you might get away with being able to scan it lengthwise but if not you will not be able to scan it without jamming the scanner or damaging the document.I use mine for archival research; if you’re using this for home use (like scanning important documents) you should be fine. It’s super light and easy to transport.

Slightly too small to scan 8.5×11

It’s really too bad, the thing is super portable and connects to my phone or computer wirelessly pretty easily. The problem is it must be designed to take the EU size paper. The sheet is aligned by fitting firmly against the sides of the slot in the front, but the slot is slightly too small for normal paper so I have to make a tiny fold or cut about 2 mm off of the side so that sucks. Other than that it’s pretty cool.

    Easy to use portable scanner

I love this little scanner. I had no problem installing it on my laptop, and I chose to use it wired rather than wireless because our internet connection drops so often. The copies scan clearly and there are choices for scanning in color, gray scale, and auto. Auto works fine most of the time, but sometimes changing the setting to color or gray scale produces a more legible scan. Documents can be saved in several formats, and can be rotated before saving. I set up folders that PDF images go directly into from the scanning process. I have been scanning years worth of household inventory receipts, etc., and the task is moving along very smoothly. Although I would not scan an irreplaceable photograph because it could be damaged, I have scanned some general snapshots, and it worked well. I am very happy with my purchase.

    Cool little scanner.

Needed a scanner that would work with a Chromebook. In the past, I used my trusty Canon portable scanner with Macs. This one has a built in wifi dealio that hooks up to an app running on your Chromebook OR phone.Hold on: did you say “scan to phone”? Yes. Yes I did. But that’s not all…The scanner is1. battery powered/rechargeable2. Super slim/portable3. Generates high quality scans4. Sends the scan to an app, that can save locally or send as email attachment etcI do miss:1. Multi page capability of my trusty Canon2. The Android app is a little basic. What I don’t like:1. Sometimes, the page fails to feed when the scanning starts, and you end up with the top of the scan blank, and only half the page scanned. But you just feed the sheet again and it works.

    Nice product, but…

This is perfect for what I need except that it would have been nice if it did double side scanning instead of one side at a time. I have tried several scanners and they always had a problem with being able to scan after one use. This one has worked every time without a problem.
