It’s ok if you like doing a bunch of straightening. I would not buy again.
The first unit I got kept scanning the pages crooked. I would have to go into the Crop utility and straighten every page by either 0.6 or -0.6 depending on if it was the front or back side. I contacted Epson and they determined it was a hardware malfunction and it needed to be replaced. They sent me a refurbished unit, which has the exact same problem, just 0.4 or -0.4. It’s also BS that you buy a brand new unit, and if you have problems they send you a used unit that was also sent in because it had problems and they call it refurbished. I paid for a new unit, I should get a new unit as my replacement. It’s not my fault that you build an inferior product. I have thousands of pages to scan and I think I’m just going to have to eat this money and buy a different brand.

Buyer beware…. Do not purchase this product
This product didn’t work from day 1. When contacted Epson support, the unit had an harware failure. Was told to send unit back and would be replaced. After countless calls with over an hour hold time each time, We were sent a FED EX label to return unit. It is now 30 days later and still fighting with EPSON. EPSON sent a replacement (reburished unit) not a new unit. DID NOT send any cords or paper guide with the replacement. Being told now after the 5th call to EPSON, I need to pay to return the unit to get a full unit. Espson stated the cords and accessories should not have been returned.DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. The seller hasn’t been responsive either

Unreliable
This machine is unreliable. It has issues connecting to the computer. Even when connected with a USB cable it has serious issues connecting. It works about one out of every 20 tries. It’s very frustrating trying so many times until it works. I have a Brother printer and connecting is never an issue. I should of bought their scanner as well.

It’s A Predator—And A Lemon
The media could not be loaded.
Do not buy this scanner. This scanner will eat your documents. The photos are proof. Don’t buy it unless you want your docs destroyed. And their tech support is lacking … and non-responsive and limited in hours.—- Update now wifi connection problems with the replacement —-—Update 6/16/2021 this is now my 4th replacement. It’s extremely hard to get real support. Even with the USB connection this scanner just stops working after 1-2 months. This replacement is like an EX that still owes you money… and they are trying to sue you in court. Don’t buy it. ——

Good scanner but lacks some features
Fast scanner but 100 page loading tray is questionable. It’s more like 70. Also when scanning 8.5×14 the pages fly off the tray as the tray is too small to hold on to larger papers.

Phenomenal scanning speed that is almost flawless in avolding paper-jams. It is worth it’s cost…which, to me, is minimal. The touchscreen seze is just right and ultra rasponsive.

No Chinese Function Menu display
I originally planned to buy this product in Taiwan, but it is too expensive to sell in Taiwan. It’s about 780 dollars. So I bought the same model of goods on Amazon. I am very satisfied with this item, I received it within a week. I immediately opened it for use. I am very satisfied. The only drawback is that the US version of the product does not have a traditional Chinese option in the function menu. I can only choose English display. But it does not hinder my operation. Saved 280 US dollars, it is acceptable without a Chinese menu.

Product was not new
I purchased a product new but what i got was a box full of bubble wrap with the scanner wrapped in scotch tape. The box was beat up and half open. My scanner was not in the original box and upwrapping the tape off the product made it completely sticky. This was for my business and I have no instructions on how to use the scanner, which i could probably learn but I still would like instruction, or better yet in a box. What is the point of choosing a new product when you still get a used product and paying full price. I could have just simply went to a store to purchase the new scanner in a box. I am very disappointed in this whole situation. Taking alcohol rubbing off sticky tape is not what I planned for a new product. I will put pictures above.

Overall good printer.
Overall good printer. I needed it to be able to recognize legal and letter size. Followed directions and it wouldn’t work. The negative side was the tech support. I spent 6 hours waiting 3 different times to get help. They couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work. They blamed Adobe.Very poor online and chat support.Price was high.

Very fast & quite reliable desktop scanner, but OCR is slow and unavailable in scan-to-usb-stick.
Very fast & quite reliable desktop scanner, but OCR is slow and unavailable in scan-to-usb-stick. OCR is only done as a very slow post processing step using epson software on your pc (and can’t do mixed languages). Also note that the scanner doesn’t flexibly auto switch between color and black and white.

Don’t Hesitate / Buy it!
I rarely write product reviews but this scanner has worked awesome for me. For years I was using a flatbed scanner and it seemed like it took me forever to scan my work. This thing is incredible. Saves me so much time. It’s extremely fast and makes incredible copies. I purchased in March and waited to write this review. Absolutely no issues so far. Only wish I had purchased it sooner. Worth every penny. Don’t hesitate, buy it. Easy to set up, extremely easy to use. A+

The media could not be loaded.
You would think for this amount of money this machine would have a working screen. The edges around the screen barely work whether you use your finger or stylus. Wi-fi was difficult as well. It looks really promising on these ads and reviews. I must have gotten the one lemon

WILL NOT SCAN IN BATCHES OR BULK – Very innefficient.
The software that runs this scanner is the same one that runs Epson’s receipt scanner. You have to scan one set of pages at a time and you MUST have a computer monitor in front of you. Each scan goes to the software, you cannot split the scanned pages so you must scan, view and save; scan, view and save; scan view and save. It is a cumbersome process. I purchase this because of the website description that implied that you can scan in batches or bulk but you cannot scan in batches or bulk.

Very Difficult Getting it Set Up
I have a brand new pc and now a brand new Epson scanner. I tried to set it up using the very vague instructions that came with it. I could not get it connected to my computer either wirelessly or using the USB cable. I checked the scanner, and it was hooked up with my wi-fi, and it said the signal strength was excellent. I had to call Epson customer support. They were fabulous. I worked with them, and we finally got the scanner working. It was a job that one would need an expert level of technology knowledge to figure out. I am not an idiot when it comes to computers, but this was way beyond my capability. So, excellent customer service, but setting up the scanner became a nightmare for me.

Scans effortlessly, a whole stack of documents. No pages stick together.
This scanner is worth the money. We tried several other scanners, and they would pick up two documents at once, and try to put them through the feeder and all kinds of other problems with scanning. This one you could put a whole stack of documents in a feeder, and scan and never have to pay just stick together. Love this scanner. !

Good scanner with good quality
Good scanner. Scans text documents well and fast if your resolution is set to 300 dpi. Higher resolution is considerably slower. I scanned thousands of pages in a few hours. I am happy with the OCR capabilities for searchable PDF as well.Only issue that I encountered is that the scanner SW sometimes is unable to find the printer. I simply saved the scanned data as a PDF and restart the application to continue. This is the reason that I gave the scanner only a 4 rating. Hopefully the issue can be addressed with a future SW update.Would recommend it.

Great scanner and flawed software
I decided to buy the Epson ES-580W based on the specs and the price. This scanner is pretty new and I haven’t seen a lot of reviews yet. The scanner itself is great it is fast and produces high quality scans. The document feeder works great and I haven’t seen paper jam yet. The issue is with the software. It’s slow and not very intuitive. There is also an issue with wifi and not finding the scanner. At this point I am not sure if it is a hardware or software issue. The server to use cloud services like OneDrive, Dropbox etc is constantly down so forget scanning to cloud. Will update the review after I have a little bit more experience with it and I give Epson the chance to update the scanner software. and drivers.

Great Features
Wow – I have been battling with my old Kodak i40 for far too long – I decided to upgrade and what a surprise! The features, WiFi and touchscreen make it feel like jumping from DOS to Windows 11!Some reviewers complained about skewed images – I haven’t had anything of that sort – every page scan is even and great quality. I’ve set up the Epson software but mainly use VueScan and it just worked. I’ve even set it up to scan to OneDrive and tested it.If anything changes I’ll update the review but I don’t know why I waited so long to get a reasonably fast, duplex, ADF scanner to replace my older scanner.

Do not use this scanner if you are predominately scanning thick cards like drivers license
Great scanner for paper scanning. Very good touch screen functionality. I could not set up the wireless function. Did not work for me but that could be because of firewall issues at my office.Do not buy this scanner if you are predominately using it to scan drivers license or thick insurance cards. It constantly jams. We tried to use it in our medical office where we use scanner mostly to scan DL and insurance cards in patient records. I am sadly going to return the product since it does not meet our main requirement.

Very fast, but hard to set up to Gmail
The machine itself it very fast. Not described as portable, but it is small enough to port if needed. It was very hard to set it up to my gmail account, but after cursing and 4 hours online, I figured it out. Had to make changes to gmail settings. To set up to send docs to my Acer laptop, I had to go to the epson website to download software and drivers. I use this for LARGE docs to email, so I set the DPI to 200 and the file size and quality is good.

I Learned; Difficult for Me to Get Going!
Once this little baby was set up and I learned how to use it. . . .it is marvelous! It meets all my scanning needs and desires. I wanted the scanner hooked to my computer. The ES-580W set up/connected very quickly and easy. But I did not know it! The scanning starts from the computer not the scanner. I called Customer Service, they were very fast to respond and extremely helpful and patient. I confused the touch screen with the computer screen, basically doing the “right moves” but backwards. As with most guides, it was online and hard for me to follow even with the quick links. Thanks to Epson support I am a very fast learned and still exploring features. Truly appreciate the fact that I can name and place the new file after scanning. Overall I have had a very quick learning experience. If you are a previous scan user, no biggie!

Machine never worked. Called tech and brought a computer guy out to get it to work. Nothing helped. All it does is take up space. What a piece of crap. PDFs are not searchable by default (no OCR)
The scanner pretty much does what you expect and is pretty fast/clean. The biggest problem is that the PDFs are not searchable by default (doesn’t do OCR by default) the Epson Scansmart–the default program that runs the scanner. To get it to create a searchable PDF file, you have to use Epson Scan 2 software which has to be downloaded separately and appears to be an older program. I haven’t figured out how to get it to run from the scanner touchscreen, so you have to put your document in the scanner, then go to the computer and run Scan 2. This isn’t a smooth workflow–I have no idea why Scansmart doesn’t have an option to save to searchable pdf (OCR)? For me, this is a huge flaw unless I am just missing something.

The best scanner
I use this scanner mobility in my Prius and it works great. It’s fast, scans in color or black and white and also can scan legal size docs. I downloaded the App and scan from IPhone 14plus approximately up to 100 pages at a time and save it it a file folder to upload.

Works Great!
The scanner is very easy to set up and use, and the wireless connectivity is a huge convenience. The color duplex feature has saved me a lot of time, as I no longer have to manually flip the pages to scan both sides. The scan quality is excellent, and the software that comes with the scanner is very user-friendly. Overall, I highly recommend the Epson Workforce ES-580W for anyone in need of a reliable and efficient desktop document scanner.

Great scanner when it works…. which is about half the time.
This scanner drives me crazy! I scan large files and need something fast and reliable. While I have no complaints about scan speed and capability, it’s reliability is severely lacking. Any time I want to use it, I have to waste my time trying to get it to connect with my HP laptop (it’s connected via USB to a hub that works perfectly with everything else I use) or getting it connected with wifi which is ridiculous because we have business internet with a high end mesh router and it’s the only thing I fight with in the whole building. Sometimes the wifi issue is a quick fix, but more often than not, it’s a restart. In fact, I’ve just given up trying and start the process by turning off the scanner and restarting it. Sometimes I even have to remove the device and add it again to get it to work! $400 is a lot of money for something i have to work so hard to use. My biggest mistake is that I did not send it back immediately, assuming it was user error and that I would figure it out.Lesson learned.

Good Scanner
Times out too quickly. This feature should be able to be turned off. Also very sensitive to document misfeeds when pages have rounded corners.
