Perfect monitor for on the go gaming
I bought this to pair with an XBox Series X as a part of an “on the go” setup to travel via air. This is the perfect monitor. Looks great, but most importantly, fits into my 29” Travelpro checked bag! Check this bag and you can take a 32” 4K UHD rig anywhere. Highly recommended for this use case.

Didn’t do 4k at 60 hertz
I desperately needed a new additional monitor so I’m overall still happy with the purchase I made even with the issue I’m about to talk about. That’s because this still fits my required needs for the money I spent on it. It’s VESA mountable, has interior speakers, can switch between 2 HDMI signals, and can supposedly do 4k at 60 hertz. Right now, I just need it as a second monitor with decent to good display quality for work and some light gaming. So this was a good fit for me. BUT…Other potential buyers should know they may run into issues getting this monitor to display at 4k 60 hertz as advertised. At first, I thought it was the HDMI cable they provided since from my testing and after seeing some other reviews I had believed it to be an older version of HDMI, but when I switched out the cable with a newly bought HDMI 2.1 cable, no luck. I can only get 4K at 30 hertz or 1080 at 60 hertz. (However, this might just be an issue with my computer and not necessarily the monitor’s fault. My computer is the Lenovo Yoga A940 (27) All-in-One) When hooking the monitor up to my old Xbox one (yes, the original 2013 one), I was given a notice by the console the frame rate would jump up on any games the console could handle but that doesn’t confirm it will run as advertised with the series X either (Sadly I don’t have one yet because of damn scalpers). So I’d suggest exercising some caution if you’re buying this monitor in the hopes you can just plug it into anything and have it run at 4k 60 hertz. Given other reviews, I’m sure the monitor can manage to do it… But it might not be as easy as plugging it in and having it work right away.As far as work and gaming quality is concerned, the images are sharp. This is the biggest monitor I’ve ever owned thus far and it’s nice to have plenty of space for different browsing windows or open applications. The monitor gets bright enough and seems to offer enough color contrast to not overall affect my experience when sitting near a window (Please note I’m not directly facing the sun, however). I’ve waited over one month to write this review and so far I’ve had no issues with the monitor beside the one I mentioned. So I like the monitor. However, this monitor might not work for you if you’re depending on a concise 4k 60 hertz output as soon as you plug it in.

Good overall monitor for software developer
Overall, I’m very happy with this 32″ 4k curved monitor, and consider it the ideal size for a software developer.Pros: 1) Perfect size with a 1.25x zoom for having two windows side-by-side with enough room to see a 2-pane code diff on each. 2) Comes out of sleep much faster than Dell monitors from the early 2010’s, and provides faster automatic switching for a dual-input setup. 3) The curvature helps to bring the left and right edges a little closer without having to physically shift your head left or right. 4) The monitor doesn’t get too hot, compared to previous 4k monitors I’ve used.Cons: 1) If part of the screen is very light, and another part very dark (e.g., two browsers side-by-side, one with a white background and the other with black), then the light portions will (under some circumstances) get very washed-out (low contrast) and sometimes be a little hard to read. I see this as a somewhat critical flaw for many, but for my workflow, I keep all windows with a light background so I don’t encounter this issue in practice. 2) Pixels disappear close to the left and right edges due to viewing angle. For my workflow, it’s not enough pixels to worry about, but if there was a single-pixel wide border, this would disappear at most viewing angles. 3) I’ve had a monitor for about a month, and had a single instance so far when the monitor momentarily turned black. I’ve seen this with previous 4k monitors, and suspect that this problem is due to either cable quality. Overall, this is a low-rate for this problem, so I’m currently optimistic that it won’t become a problem.Overall, this is the best monitor I’ve ever owned. I briefly tried an ultra-wide monitor (34″ 3440×1440 with 160 Hz refresh), but returned it because the text was too pixellated (it was running with no zoom) and because it was too wide, but not tall enough. That monitor was amazing for gaming, but since I spend much more time doing software development, that doesn’t matter as much.

Dell S3221QS : Nice, but NOT a replacement for a old-school, 10 yr old Dell 30″ QHD UltraSharp !
Bought this as a upgrade for my existing Dell U3014 (QHD) UltraSharp Monitor from 2014, as I will be editing 4K videos vs HD ones shortly, and after reading many reviews, pulled the trigger, not wanting to spend $1300 for a replacement monitor, as I did with the existing U3014.TL;DR : If you are buying this just to surf the web and watch videos, stop here and buy it. For its price, its a bargain. But if you are doing video or picture editing, office work (especially in a dark environment), or really CARE about video quality, I would definitely think twice before buying… (Not going to do a full review here, as many have, and except for the picture quality, the positive ones are mostly correct)The only real issues I have with the S3221QS in a professional environment are :1) Monitor Brightness : This unit has just a paltry 300 nits of brightness, well below most monitors, and even when connected via DP at 4K / 4:4:4 / 10 Bit / Maximum Brightness + Contrast, it still looks way dim, as compared to my existing Dell (see pictures above, the SQ3221QS is on the right side, and the U3014 is on the left). And using the S3221QS’s HDR Settings did absolutely nothing to change this… I did not attempt to see if playing games or watching videos would change anything, however, and even though I am pretty good at calibrating monitors, and played with various adjustments for over one hour, no joy.2) Video Clarity / Video Accuracy : One cannot expect a $450 monitor to compare with a $1200 monitor, but given my Dell U3014 is over 10 years old, and has a lower resolution (2560×1600) and lower bit depth (8bit vs 10bit), one might hope as much. Not ! As you can see in the photos above, comparing the side by side pictures, the clouds on the S3221QS (on right) are yellowish, the blue sky is oversaturated, and most importantly, the image resolution on the far right “mountain” is dull, unfocused, and lacking in detail and color, as compared to the U3014 image on the left.. And no amount of playing with gamma, colors, contrast or brightness changed any of this. I even brought down the S3221QS resolution to 2560×1440 to make a additional comparison, and zero change.Long story short, if you have a highly-rated older Dell UltraSharp, and expecting a cheaper or modern 4K VA panel to match or exceed it in overall image quality, it is just not going happen, however much you want it to… Boxing this unit up now and returning to Amazon, and looking at the Dell U3223QE to replace it, which has a IPS panel and 400nits brightness, but costs around $900 direct from Dell, or around $700 if you buy it on sites like eBay.. (Amazon is asking $1000 + at this time). And you don’t mind the slightly larger bezels and lower QHD resolution on the U3014, they can be picked up in excellent used condition for under $300..Hope this review was helpful to you !

Beautiful
I previously was using a 27″ flat IPS monitor that started having shadows on the screen, which prompted me to get this Dell and I am happy I did. It came carefully and securely packaged. The stand was very easy to connect to the screen portion and the monitor itself looks elegant. Build quality is excellent. As for the picture, I have it connected to a Mac Mini via HDMI and the picture is gorgeous. No bad pixels, color is vivid and I love the curved screen – it feels so luxurious. My wife said it is too big, like sitting in the front row at the movies, but it is not like that. It just wraps around with a beautiful picture. Although it can do a screen resolution of up to 3840 x 2160, for most applications I use 1920 x 1080. Setting it to the higher resolutions makes the print harder to read although it sure does allow for seeing a huge portion of Excel spreadsheets! I set it to the higher resolutions when watching videos and they’re clear and sharp. When my old monitor started conking out I was originally going to get the Dell 27″ flat 4K but since the 32″ wasn’t that much more, I thought I’d give it a try. My hesitation was that it would be too big. I’m glad I decided to go with the bigger screen.

Life changing
I’ve been using 30 inch + dual monitor set up for years for work. Figured it try this. Works great with window key right arrow to have two items side by side. Makes copying and pasting between documents or comparing documents side by side really easy. I couldn’t live without it now.

Viewing angle isn’t wide for an IPS
Straight angle view from a distance is great. However, if you’re closer, like even at 2 feet, the difference between left and right eyes could. bothers me depending on what I’m working on. Also with a slight angle, the edges of the screen become blurred, as if there is a thick piece of glass.Good 4k monitor for the price, but not for heavy graphics or gaming.

Nice looking monitor
The picture quality and screen work well for my needs. I do some photography on the side, and I’ve found the color replication to solid, at least for my eyes–others who do videography and photography professionally would know more than me.I wish the manual controls were more customizable. To change inputs, it requires several button clicks to get to the proper menu. I wish there was a dedicated input button. The PIP function works, but you can’t use both HDMI ports for it; you have to use HDMI and DisplayPort. Also, and I don’t know if this is a standard function elsewhere, only one stream of audio comes through with the PIP. I’d prefer both, but I don’t know if that’s a reasonable request.I ordered a very good condition used monitor from Amazon Warehouse and sent it back–there were a few dead pixels, and one of the HDMI ports would cut in and out randomly (I tried several cables and devices). When I purchased a new model, I had the same problem with an HDMI port (again, trying several cables and devices). Since I’m able to use the DisplayPort, and I have an HDMI switch for my computers, I decided to keep it rather than return it. But that’s a warning; if this is a common quality control issue, you might have an HDMI issue.I use external speakers so I can’t speak for the monitor sound quality. Haven’t used the VESA mount, either. The stand is somewhat bulky at the bottom, but it is covered by my soundbar so it isn’t an issue. The bezel isn’t as minimal as other models in the price point, but it doesn’t bother me.As for viewing angles, the screen seems matte to my eyes, so I don’t get much glare. Extreme angles cause distortion, but it’s a curved monitor so that’s to be expected. For cable management, it doesn’t do a great job of hiding things, but I don’t need that for my desk.Overall, I like this monitor a lot, and I’d probably buy one again, knowing everything I know now.

A Bright, Beautiful Monitor
I had a 23″ Samsung for many years. Then I saw one of these Dells at work and decided to upgrade. The old monitor was fine but this is bigger and more beautiful and brighter and I totally love it. As I get older, my vision isn’t as perfect, and this lets me choose between more clear, easily readable type and more space for all my windows. 10/10. The only con is that the sound quality isn’t great (no surprise), but I have my own speakers so it doesn’t matter.

Fantastic
I am a professional trader, I use multiple computers not monitors to run very software. The server I use that powers the graphics /charting program needed a new monitor so I went on Amazon and bought this one. It is absolutely incredible. It does not take a standard monitor cable so you have to have the right inputs but they’re available at Best buy or on amazon and when it’s working it’s a picture like you’ve never seen assuming you have a good graphics card. I never use my trading computer for anything other than trading, with this monitor I occasionally watched some stuff on my monitor because it’s that awesome. I believe this is a prime item so you have no risk, give it a shot if you hate it return it

Great monitor with one caveat – must use default resolution
WARNING: MUST USE DEFAULT RESOLUTION (AT LEAST WITH MAC – macbook pro 13 inch 2020). Read below for more info.Pros:1. This monitor is very large and the curved display is great for viewing all areas of the screen without issue. Huge screen space that can very very easily fit two side-by-side windows with great resolution and size.2. The resolution is crisp and high quality.3. The appearance is clean and sleek – edges around the display are thin and the monitor base feels well-made, heavy and sturdy.Cons:1. I wish the adjustable height went up 1-2 inches more so that I could put my laptop in front of it and use both screens without overlap. I use a 2020 macbook pro 13 inch and the top of my laptop raises about an inch or two above the bottom of the monitor even when monitor is on full height. With a mounted setup, wider desk (my work desk is 30 inches wide), smaller laptop or if you are using a keyboard and CPU instead of laptop, this should not be an issue.2. You MUST USE THE DEFAULT RESOLUTION instead of a scaled resolution (at least on mac – under system preferences > displays > resolution). It would be easier to use a scaled resolution so that font and window sizes are adjusted appropriately, but scaled resolution results in a NOTICEABLE LAG when moving the mouse, scrolling, zooming in/out, or moving windows around. Using default resolution and then adjusting font sizes works and the lag goes away.3. The display color is slightly ashier/gray compared to my mac laptop display. See picture attached. The same desktop image just looks less vivid on the external monitor. I don’t find this to be a huge issue as I’ll mostly use the monitor for programming work (the reduced vividness is not noticeable unless looking at two identical images) but it may be an issue for someone in a design field or similar who needs a really color accurate monitor.

Apple M1 and M2 users, be aware of compatibility issue
Screen flickers under dark/grey color of viewing scenarios, such as scrolling on YouTube page under dark theme. This is a compatibility issue widely known by the new Apple silicon users, but unfortunately I ordered it before I did my research. This is not Dell’s fault. It is simply compatibility issues, and there are products optimized for different computers. I am going to order another product that is known to be not having such issue.Other than the compatibility issue with Mac M1/M2, the screen has amazing picture quality. There is slight backlight bleeding along the right edge of the screen when testing under uniform grey color, but generally not noticeable. The curve of the screen really brings out immersive viewing experience.

Good but avoid if you have epilepsy…
I’ve liked it so far. Writing this review to caution people with epilepsy to avoid buying it. I’m not entirely sure what’s triggered it, but while setting it up/swapping inputs around multiple times it’s done intense light flashing that I’m 75% sure would trigger an epileptic episode. When this occurs it flashes very brightly in red, green, blue, a few times, then starts flashing black and white intentionally for like 15 seconds straight. During this I had to turn away from the screen because it was making me uncomfortable even without epilepsy. When I turned my face away I could see the flashing brightly on the wall in a well light room.

Great Price for Product
This monitor was an excellent purchase for me and works with my set up great. I use it as my second monitor for photo editing and sometimes for 4k gaming but it depends on what I’m playing. For the price its excellent especially from a reliable company like Dell who has been making quality monitors for sometime. If I had one grip, its that my primary monitor is also dell, and while the bezels and sizes are nearly the exact same, even though the color settings are identically the final look of the two monitors vastly differ, with this one being a little more dim and toned down, however it is a cheaper monitor. Overall I would still reccomend the image quality holds up

Beats travelling the world to see it all
This superb monitor, matched with a good audio system and a new PC like my Dell Inspiron, created an endless ticket to my touring the world via so many 4K Utube videos, unlike anything ever expected. No airport security, no bad local food, no lost cab drivers, no bed bugs, just “you are there” with endless sights from my soft chair; and whenever I like it. This monitor is a little bulky, but it assembled easily and the screen position can be easily adjusted, something not available with many competitors. The curved screen adds a lot of reality, but learning how to set it up for the desired picture quality could have been better described.

Dell S2721QS: A Stunning 4K Display for Both Work and Play
I’ve been using the Dell S2721QS for a few months now as part of a dual screen setup for both remote work and gaming, and I have to say I’m impressed. The 4K resolution and ultra-thin bezel make for an immersive and striking display, whether I’m working on graphic design projects or immersing myself in the latest games. The color and contrast are also top-notch, with deep blacks and vibrant colors that really make images pop. The viewing angles are also great, so it’s easy to share the screen with others in a group setting. In terms of value for money, the Dell S2721QS is a bit on the pricey side, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for a high-quality 4K display. It’s also worth noting that you’ll need an HDMI or DisplayPort cable to connect the monitor to your computer, so be sure to factor that into the cost. Some additional pros and cons to consider:Pros:-4K resolution and ultra-thin bezel make for a stunning display-AMD FreeSync technology for smooth gaming-VESA certified for easy wall or arm mounting-Great color and contrastCons:-A bit priceyOverall, I highly recommend the Dell S2721QS for anyone looking for a high-quality 4K display for both work and play. The sleek design and advanced technology make it a top choice for both professionals and gamers alike.

Great value for a UHD monitor!
For office applications, this UHD monitor performs well. If value is important to you, you likely won’t be disappointed.tl;drWhen the work you do daily requires a full-time commitment to being in front of a screen to do your job, then the characteristics of that screen can have a substantial impact on your productivity, health, etc. Having used a “standard” HD monitor for quite some time at work, I was starting to find it to be too constraining and difficult to work on. I felt it was time for an upgrade to a UHD/4k monitor. After some research, I settled upon this model, as it scored well on use in an office environment (according to rtings.com), it had consistently high reviews, and it was priced attractively here on Amazon. It also included speakers and a versatile stand, which were nice additional perks that I thought could come in handy. I took the plunge and have not been disappointed. This monitor has met or exceeded all of my expectations for office applications. The picture is clear. I have ample ability to control brightness, contrast, etc. And the refresh rate remains at 60Hz as long as the attached device can support it. The stand allows for all the control that I could ask for in positioning the display, but I’ve since attached it to a desk-mounted monitor arm which I also really like. I should also mention that having 2 input channels has been very convenient, as it has allowed me to use it as a shared display between different computers. In a pinch, I’ve even used the speakers on a few occasions; they’re not very good, but then again I don’t expect them to be. Also, I have used it once as a monitor for a video game console, and I was quite pleased with it. Again, the audio was sub-par, but the picture (including refresh rate) was excellent. For the value, I’ve been really pleased with this monitor so far. Since I use it primarily for office applications, I can definitely recommend it for that. And as a general-purpose display, it seems to perform well and should not disappoint much. But if you want something that will perform optimally for gaming (especially with high refresh rates), then you will probably not be considering this to begin with. Also, if you want something that has great built-in speakers, I recommend using a TV instead.

Perfect Right Out of the Box
I know some reviewers have had issues with their Dell S3221QS Curved 4K UHD monitor. There were enough enthusiastic reviews that I thought, what the heck, go for it. Glad I did. The monitor arrived 2 days after purchase. Unboxing a breeze, and setup posed no issues. No missing pixels, no problems working with HDMI and I’m really pleased with the purchase. When you immerse yourself in a much larger screen like this one, a flat version means that the left and right edges of the screen are further away from your eye than the centerpoint. The curve of the monitor makes extra windows, or wider screen images , video and writing work so much easier on the eyes without having to swivel your eyes left-to-right-left to see the objects on the outside edges. I’m not an eye doctor, but there is some logic to what I’ve discovered in working hours and hours in front of this screen. It was well worth the investment, and my tech and writing businesses get done with less eye strain and certainly more productivity. A great purchase for me. I hope others have similar experiences.

Fantastic monitor that reduces eye strain and increases productivity
Very good quality monitor from Dell that I ended up purchasing for my home office set-up after using a different model from Dell at my office. The curved screen reduces peripheral vision strain while working / surfing on the computer for prolonged hours. The resolution of this monitor is excellent, completely flicker free… Its extremely easy to set up (a one-person job really, unless you are looking to mount it on a monitor arm like me – then, you will need a second pair of hands), comes with 3 cables: a USB-C to USB-C cable which I have been using to connect to both my work laptop (windows OS) and my personal laptop (MacBook Pro) without any issues (one at a time), the second cable is to power up the monitor and the third one is a USB-B to USB-A cable to connect the monitor to a CPU I suppose… The instructions are very simple to follow – 1-page with pictures and clear labels for the assembly. The speakers of this monitor is not the best out there but certainly much better than what i had expected… I can run multiple windows of work files and/or surf the internet simultaneously… The 34 inch curved ergonomics allow for minimal footprint at home – which matters, especially in smaller configuration apartments like mine – you dont need to have two monitors side by side anymore, along with all the wires that come with that setup! Lastly, its equally good for streaming video content.. you can say goodbye to your second TV!! I am very happy with my purchase – it arrived the next day, in perfect packaging!

Best Bang for Buck.
Fort the price, these are hard to beat. I bought two, both used, from Amazon, one about 6 months agao, and another last week, for $250-$300. Check the used prices, as it seems they are readily available. They do have a small 3/8″ or so black border around the edge, so don’t expect a razor thin bezel. The only caveats I’d note, are that they are DP1.2, not DP1.4, and have DP input, but no output, so you can’t daisy chain them, and the USSB hub feature isn’t to run the monitor itself. But, the contrast on these is phenomenal for a non-Oled display, as they are VA panels. For gaming, if you want faster response times and don’t care as much about deep blacks, an IPS panel may be a better fit, but for what I do, these were probably the best buy for the money I could find.

Slim and sleek
This monitor is a super sleek design, and very slim. We were expecting it to be a lot bulkier. I love the curved monitor look, and feel a lot more efficient when working due to this design. I love the capabilities with different screen settings (2/3/4 and more) screen variations. This is a versatile monitor that we can’t recommend enough! I use it during the day to work and then at night my husband plays Xbox on it. It is super easy to switch back and forth and there aren’t as many cords it’s seems with this monitor than there are with other. Don’t walk, run and buy this!!

Curved screen is the way to go
So glad I upgraded to a curved screen. This is a great UHD monitor with an excellent picture. The only issue is that the standby mode is too sensitive to fluctuations on the DP port. If the PC is asleep which in the windows 11 world means somewhat asleep then anything the PC is doing in connected standby wakes the monitor so you get brief searching for signal then back to standby. However that can repeat many times so I just shut the monitors off now. No gaming so far so just basic browser, UHD video editing, spreadsheets so far. Quite pleased though.

Perfect Budget Monitor For Technophobes
i had bought this for my son’s birthday. here are my comments:- the screen is an LCD. i know that i wasn’t going to get a big fancy OLED this size for under a thousand dollars, but i feel like the manufacurer had deliberately avoided mentioning the screen type. however, the color quality and visual quality are much better than my previous setup (a 41 inch 30hz LCD samsung smart TV).-the volume is probably the best thing about this: loud sounds are hushed down and background sounds are very easy to hear, ideal for horror or stealth games. i actually have the volume at 1% because xbox doesn’t seem to have a native volume control, so i’m sure the speakers could be deafening if you wanted.-the curved screen makes it easier to sit closer to the screen without hurting your eyes, and while the colors don’t go very dark, lighter off-whites are very easy to spot. i can’t wait to use this for digital drawing.assembly also just involved clicking together a two-piece stand and inserting cables. the monitor even moves a bit to make cable insertion easier.but my favorite thing is that this product is “dumb”, it doesn’t have any eavesdropping virtual assistants, unneeded internet connectivity, or ads. i bet that it was only $360 because dell marketed this as a “monitor” rather than a “home entertainment platform”, however it still has the quality graphics one would expect from a modern appliance.i am a bit mad at amazon for not putting the product into an anonymous brown box before leaving it on my doorstep at 3:30 PM, but i can’t blame the seller or manufacturer for that.

Excellent Value 4k Monitor that is Flicker Free!!!
This monitor has been one of the best buys i’ve made in the last several years. The box arrived in perfect condition, and it is perfect, not a single faulty pixel. I had been using a 24″1920×1200 Dell Ultrasharp monitor I bought in 2012, it had zero issues and was 100 reliable for over 11 years. The Ultrasharp served me well, but it was time for a 4k monitor. This monitor is an incredible value, it went on sale for two fifty, at that price I couldn’t pass it up. It does not cause me any eye strain, the picture is very sharp and clear, 27″ 4k is a huge upgrade form a 1080p display. The colors are rich and vibrant, and the blacks / contrast ratio is very good. I used the rtings icc calibration profile they have for this monitor and it improved the accuracy very noticeably, color accuracy is spot on now. For most users, it will be a great choice, if you are a gamer wanting high refresh rate, or you want a monitor that is meant for HDR content, you might want to look at a bit higher end. For me, I use it with my main PC and mostly for browsing and media consumption, reading & working. I spend many long hours daily staring at a monitor, so it’s important that it has no PWM backlighting / is flicker free. This monitor does not cause me any eyestrain. It’s been great for casual gaming, movies, editing, etc.. can’t beat it for the price imo! It might not be the latest and greatest, but I think this is the best value 4k monitor available atm. Dell has a very good track record of reliable monitors so I am confident it will last me a long time.

Good Monitor
I’ve been using this monitor for a couple of weeks now and it’s been a good experience. I had originally chose this monitor for the built in KVM to switch between my work laptop and my home pc which works pretty well. That said I do wish it had a better refresh rate(100hz) and more video input options(the only display port was a display port to usb c rather than a dedicate display port).

When going big screen, go better resolution
Great curved screen with great resolution for home monitors. Have two side by side. Great resolution. May need to be connected via display port to give highest resolution possible when using dual screens. Check your video card/chip and or dock specs.

Good, sharp text and colors – NOT Fully HDR compliant
Even though the description in the Special Features section lists High Dynamic Range, be aware that this monitor is not fully HDR compliant and Windows 11 says HDR is not supported. In the monitor menu, there is an HDR display mode for both movies and games, but that is as far as HDR support goes with this monitor. Note, if you select an HDR mode in the monitor menu, it does allow you to select HDR in Windows display settings. The monitor purports to have the minimum brightness level (300 nits) for HDR content, but my experience is that 400 nits or more is really required if you want decent HDR content display. There is some HDR support on this monitor but it is marginal. On the positive side, it has dual HDMI inputs and a Display Port input as well as a 2-port USB 3.0 hub.I like the curved monitor look, but I prefer 1500R on a monitor of this size rather than the 1800R curvature of this monitor. Still, 1800R provides better viewing than flat at this size and it is acceptable. The Dell Display Manager software works well for segmenting the display into a variety of different content windows.All-in all it is a solid large-screen curved monitor if a true HDR display is not a primary need. If you need true HDR support, look for a monitor with an HDR10 rating compliance. For the price, this is an excellent 4K monitor and ticks all the boxes for me except true HDR support (not likely to be found in this price range for a monitor of this size).

Must Have
I recently returned to graduate school. I needed a larger monitor but notable one that curves. With a curve monitor, I’m now able to crunch more numbers in excel and view multiple windows at the same time.

WARNING for Mac M2 Users!
Just a heads up for people seeking to use this monitor with an M2 series mac such as a new Mac Mini in my case – I had major issues getting this monitor to work properly over a USB-C (Thunderbolt) to DisplayPort (DP) connection. When connected in this way the monitor would intermittently awake from sleep to inform me that there was “no signal”, very annoying, and even more than annoying are the severe video glitches – shimmering and ghosting effects that required LCD reconditioning to resolve. I had the same cabling set up from the Mac to a separate LG monitor without either of these issues, so it’s for sure something to do with the Dell monitor not liking the DP signal send out from the Mac (and/or, something about the type of cable that Dell specifically does not like). Running a cable from Mac USB-C to Dell HDMI takes care of both issues, but since this Dell monitor very sadly does not support PIP/PBP for 2 HDMI sources, and it is very difficult to run an HDMI source into a DisplayPort connector, this means PIP/PBP is basically no-go on Mac.All that being said, this monitor does deliver a great image, particularly with HDR turned on. Just be forewarned that it will be difficult to make full use of the DisplayPort connection unless you want to be fighting off glitches left and right!

A good choice in this price range
Happy that my monitor arrived with no dead pixels. The rounded power button on the bottom-right has a pleasant light touch and good tactile feedback, with a downward-facing LED which is visible without burning a hole in your retina. The adjacent menu buttons however are a bit awkward and less pleasant to use. I recommend installing the Dell Display Manager software to control frequently-changed settings like brightness, but it unfortunately does not support all of the monitor’s settings (e.g. RGB controls). The image is bright, with only minor color variation across the screen. The brightness control works well across the full range from 0 to 100%. There is a sharpness control which I found must be set no higher than 50% to prevent some text from appearing faint due to being drawn with only 1-pixel thickness.Grays are displayed with a brownish tint, a problem that seems common among VA panels. The 1800R curve is less curved than the more common 1500R competitors. I would prefer 1500R or even 1000R, as I sit close to the screen.Using the provided HDMI cable, I was able to achieve only a 30Hz refresh rate at the native resolution. I was shocked that the cable came tightly folded with very sharp 180-degree bends which can deform the insulation and degrade the transmission characteristics. I was able to achieve the full rated 60Hz after replacing the cable.

Dell Is A Dull Brand… Duh!
The media could not be loaded.
UPDATE 12/06:I still am not satisfied with this product but I have raised it from 2 to 3 stars for what can be seen below:After returning the product and spending far too many hours of investigation I believe the biggest issue (Signal Loss) may not have been a defect of this product. HP, Intel, Microsoft & a few other monitor manufacturers have tried to diagnose what could be causing a Signal Loss. I think I accidentally determined what is likely the cause… My laptops power supply/charger. All monitors I have tested are experiencing a Signal Loss unless I unplug the power supply/charger. This may not be the cause of the issue but it certainly appears to be associated with the issue. It is still unknown how/why this is occurring.Additionally, even when leaving the power supply/charger plugged in and using a TV as an external monitor the TV does not experience a Signal Loss like external PC monitors are. A final conclusion has not been reached at this time but I will provide an update if the cause of the issue has been determined.ORIGINAL POST:Had some good Pros but they were overran by the Cons and regardless of your own views on the Pros & Cons the item was also defective.Main Issue:Intermittent Signal Loss – About every 5 to 30 seconds the screen would appear as though the HDMI cord had been unplugged. This issue has been reported by many in these reviews and elsewhere on the internet (PS – I used a Windows device not Apple/Mac). As soon as I setup the monitor the issue occurred and Dell Support had no explanation but offered to send an exchange. I might have considered taking that offer IF I had purchased it from Dell directly but seeing as how I purchased it from Amazon I simply processed a refund a couple hours after receiving this product.Pros:- An entry price for a 27″ 4k monitor (Awesome price considering the other Pros)- Audio Output- Built in speakers- Could rise/lower- Could tilt forwards/backwards- Could swivelCons:- Intermittent Signal Loss!!!- A black screen only appeared as a black cross directly in front of your eyes, it sort of looked somewhat similar to something like the rest of the screen had clouding (must see video to understand as well as see a signal loss)- Built in power supply (Makes Monitor bigger, heated & heavier)- Faded colors contrast- Menu options appear outdated and while downloading the Dell Monitor App was better it was still outdated

Potentially Dies Quickly
When I initially purchased this product, I was pretty happy with the size and quality. I purchased two units. But, within 3 or so months of having these screens one of them has started exhibiting signs of hardware failure. It has lines across the screen. I’ve confirmed by switching cables, connections, etc, that the issue is that the screen itself is failing. So, be forewarned, there are some that have a short shelf-life. Get that warranty.

Quality 4k monitor. Big improvement over FHD or QHD. Few small quibbles
The monitor is very clear (I program all day and need very clear text). I’m running on Windows and scaling at 125%, which helps with font sizes of menus, etc, but still leaves lots of real estate for multiple windows.I’ve tried several scaling values, all the way up to 200%, and with each one clarity did not decrease. Impressive.Colors are vivid and seem pretty accurate. Brightness and contrast are good too. Menu options are decent.Things I’m not a big fan of: monitor vertical travel is very slight. I’m a short guy and even at max height, I’m going to need to prop up the monitor. So “fail” on the monitor stand for that.May as well not have installed speakers; they are so anemic as to be useless. I just disabled them in the menu. Also, there is a slight shadow affect near the right edge and right lower corner. It’s not super pronounced and if you look at it head on, you can’t see it. But from my peripheral vision while looking at the center of the monitor, my eyes register that that area is a bit darker. For all practical purposes this isn’t a problem and I’m not going to return the monitor because of it. My guess is that after a couple of days of using it, it won’t register at all. Also, if you happen to have a darker wallpaper, you will probably never notice this.I was hesitant about whether 4k was overkill for a 27″ monitor, and I would now say “no”. Just a bit of help from Windows scaling and everything is big enough to easily see and still crystal clear. I switched to this monitor from a QHD monitor from Dell that was also clear, but this one beats the clarity by a noticeable amount.I’m finding that the HDMI ports can be fussy. I’ve purchased several DisplayLink docs, and none of them can communicated with these monitors via HDMI, but they can communicate via DisplayPort. Also, when connected via HDMI to Dell dock, there’s a 20s lag for the monitor to “come to life”, which does not happen with my other Dell monitors. Something flaky about this monitor and HDMI.If you are looking to dip your toes into the 4k waters, I’d say this is a respectable place to start!

Great Value 4K Monitor
The first one that showed up was obviously a used/return and was defective out of the box. Had a horrible flickering and reddish tinge. That’s Amazon’s fault, not Dell’s. The replacement was brand new and worked perfectly. For this price point, you only get a 60Hz refresh rate, and that’s just the way it is. I do wish it had a faster refresh rate, perhaps 75Hz would be nice, but again, the competition here is also only 60Hz, so really not a complaint. Besides, a GPU powerful enough to do modern games in 4K resolution is expensive – so if you can afford a video card that can do high refresh rate gaming at 4K, you’re probably willing to spend 3x as much on a monitor.I have always liked Dell monitors, this in fact replaces two 1080P Dell monitors. Just like all the other Dell monitors I’ve bought, this one had no dead or stuck pixels. It offers a high build quality with a fully adjustable stand that can rotate and go up/down – something some competing monitors lack.My only gripe is they should include a DisplayPort cable in addition to the HDMI cable. That’s why I’m deducting a star. You might think that’s harsh, but some of the competing monitors do include a DP cable, so Dell can do it too.

Great 4k monitor for the price
I bought one of these and then came back for another. At first, the black levels were very disappointing, but somehow, when I used a Display Port cable instead of HDMI, I was able to get really beautiful rich blacks. The default brightness is lackluster as well, but if you turn it up to 100%, it looks great. HDR support is wonky and didn’t produce good results in any setting. When I was able to make it work, all it really did was make everything which was not intended to be super bright, dim and washed out. This is my first experience with HDR. From what I have seen so far, it seems like a bad gimmick. The industry should just make bright monitors with good black levels and let the artists balance their content as intended. With the display port cables and with the brightness turned all the way up (and with HDR off) this is a great 4k monitor at a good price.

Good for coding
Edit (5/7/2023): Okay so after owning this monitor for a week or so, I’ve found that the flickering issue is still intermittent. Changing the color profile to RTS did not mitigate it, nor is changing it to any other profile (both on the monitor or in the Mac System Settings) . This appears to be a common issue with Apple’s M1 chips and 4K external monitors (there are plenty of threads about this). I did not know about this prior to buying this monitor and I could not find a definite solution for this. I did not have this issue when I had a 2K monitor with my M1 Macbook, both Dell U and S series 27 inch 2k monitor, and a Viotek Ultrawide 2K monitor also.I’m still debating if I should return this or not and downgrade back to a 2K monitor.I’m leaving it to 5 stars since it’s not the monitor’s fault, it’s the M1 chip.Just a few notes/tips:- I downloaded the BetterDisplay App for the Mac. The license is only $15 and I’ve applied the license to two separate M1 macbooks with no problem. This allows you to enable native resolution scaling, which helps with the scaled resolution clarity somewhat, along with additional fine tuning configs. If you don’t know, Apple has scaling issues with 4k Monitors, refer to YouTube videos for more info.- Setting the color profile to Generic RGB Profile really makes the color pop and the darks darker. So making it closer to the Macbook’s native color vibrancy. This is set in the System Settings > Displays > Select the Dell S3221QS > Set color Profile to Generic RGB Profile (of course you can try out the other profiles too).- Setting the response time to ‘Extreme’ should reduce ghosting (Just found this in some YouTube video)—— Previous Review ———————————————————————Sharp display for coding. I’m a software engineer. I initially made a mistake of purchasing a 2K 32 inch monitor. The text was somewhat pixelated, I knew it would cause eventual eye fatigue. Then, I picked this one up and the texts are very sharp even at 3008×1692 resolution (higher than 2k, less than 4K) which offers more screen real estate than 1440p. I’m happy with it.All I care about is the text sharpness, I don’t play video games nor do I do any kind of video/photo editing, so I can’t comment about the vibrancy and/or color accuracy.Only con I found is that with the standard preset mode, I saw that the backlight flickers when scrolling rapidly through some webpages. But once I changed it to RTS, it went away. Idk, maybe it’s a specific issue with my monitor (I purchased it used).Anyways, no regrets. And to think I was considering picking up the Apple Studio display. Definitely saved me some funds 👌🏽

Probably the best monitor on the market for dual purpose gaming/productivity.
I’ve had tons of monitors in my 25 years of working on PC’s all day and playing video games all night. And even most recently I’ve had top of the line Ultra Wides like the Samsung Oddysey G9 49″ 5120×1440. I’ve also tried large 4K monitors at 43″ and multiple 4k screens at 27″.1440p just isn’t enough vertical pixels anymore for productivity workflows as a software egineer and 1080 definitely is not enough. And because 16:9 is still the standard panel size most ultrawides adopt a variation of that. 32:9 5120X1440 is basically just two 2560×1440 panels spliced together in one screen. And there are NO 32:9 7680×2160 ultra wides yet, they don’t exist.Furthermore with a large resolution like 4k I’ve found that 1 43″ screen is too big to be that close to me unless it’s curved at 1800R (doesn’t exist). And 27″ is too small at 4k things are too tiny.32″ is the sweet spot for me for a 4k screen, it’s PERFECT, it fits perfectly in my field of view in front of me on my desk looking straight on and I don’t need to move my head to see anything on it. Furthermore putting it at 125% OS Scale perfects it, still 4k in games, legible out of games (not too small) and that zoom rate at 4k is near perfect for writing code.So I’ve opted to get 3 of these screens instead of a low resolution ultra wide. And I will spend less for all 3 of these than 1 lower resolution ultra wide, really what’s not to love about that? The picture looks great too and it supports HDR. The only knock I would give it for gaming is that it’s only 60hz, but for work that’s perfectly fine. However, Dell, if you’re reading this, PLEASE make a DP 2.1 7680X2400 Ultra Wide (even if Alienware) it would be the perfect monitor for both gaming and work. It would be 32:10 Aspect ratio (16:10 is far superior to 16:9) and it would be 2 4k 16:10 screens in one display. It would destroy all the competition.

Good for the Price – Wrong Refresh Rate – Bad for iMac
I work in Animation and Illustration so this is from that perspective:I bought it as a second screen to my 5K iMac. Independently the screen is probably fine, next to the iMac screen text looks jagged. Also it would only let me select a 30Hz refresh rate which is pretty noticeable. Colors we fine but different. For other applications it’s probably fine but not mine.

Defective in an unforgiving way
Edit: changing my review – I figured out my original issue was actually due to hardware acceleration in browsers. The glitch in the photo appeared with my replacement monitor too but resolved when disabling hardware acceleration. My video card is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060. Leaving photo in case this happens to others.I was really excited for this monitor but I noticed immediately that it would display these large black glitchy boxes intermittently while watching video or playing FPS games. I am using a 4K display port cable so I thought it might be a port problem on my computer. I moved the cable to another available port on my vide card. No change. I tried a high quality HDMI cable instead – no change. Would not recommend.

This monitor is super bright and super sharp. I bought it for stock trading because it’s so wide, but the picture is amazing. I now use it to watch movies and edit clips. I mean its alright
First of all, USE DISPLAY PORT if you can. It makes a whole lot of difference. The monitor was flickering with the screen so I was very frustrated when it arrived. It flickers if you have a macbook M1 computer, and it is best to use DisplayPort for that. Apart from that, the monitor looks great, but definitely not worth the price. Get Phillips instead

The Perfect Monitor for Me…
This is undoubtedly the best monitor I have ever owned. It’s also the first curved monitor and I have no issues with this particular feature, and kind of like the uniqueness of it. I don’t do gaming and use my monitor primarily to read ebooks, surf the Internet and watch videos. This is the perfect size for those tasks. I previously used flatscreen TVs as monitors and decided, for whatever reason, to buy an actual monitor and I am not disappointed. My only reservation is that because I’ve been so used to using TVs as monitors for so many years, I’d grown accustomed to having a remote control. So I miss having a remote control. But I’ve realized that I don’t need a remote and that having one was really an eccentric luxury. Another thing I miss is that I cannot cast from my iPhone or iPad to this monitor, which is what I did regularly with my previous TVs/monitors. I suppose that the only solution would have been to buy a smart TV monitor. But again, as with the remote, I’ve discovered that casting from my iPhone and iPad was another superfluous luxury. In sum, overall, I am completely satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t have any particular inclination for gaming that requires a high-end graphics card. Finally, after reading some of the user manual, I discovered that to support higher resolutions and refresh rates, it’s better to use a display port 1.2 cable (like this one on Amazon: “Amazon Basics DisplayPort 1.2 Cable, 21.6Gbps High-Speed, 4K@60Hz, 2K@165Hz, Gold-Plated Plugs, 6 Foot, Black”) rather than an HDMI cable to connect the monitor to a computer.

Great but watch out for refurb or returned devices
I have ordered 2 of these, the first had a completely destroyed screen that I assumed at first was a weird shipping issue. As I was repacking it, I noticed the cracks were as if someone picked it up from the edges and I know I didn’t because the warnings made it clear not to. I used the stand to unload it and set it on my desk before even taking the wrap off. I also noticed fingerprints on the screen and I never touched it.Now that I have the 2nd one I sure, because this box did not have any more tape than the Dell branded on the front flap and the original had double tape there as well as on the sides. The new one, which is actually new, seems great so far. Speakers are better than typical monitor speakers, but still quiet as. Colors and sharpness seem great so far.

Sturdy, Good quality
I am using them for business, not for gaming. They place 4 buttons across the bottom, but all they are used for is changing the display source. There are no other on-monitor adjustments. This isn’t really an issue though as color correction is typically done through the PC driver anyway, but not sure why it takes 4 buttons to change the source …I still give them a 5 because they are solid monitors with 4k@60 support as advertised and a good picture.

1yr exactly today, DP port DIED.
I’ve had this exactly 1 year as of today… well, actually less because I ordered it and it didn’t arrive until a few weeks later… bought two of these. but yes, 1yr exactly as of today the DP port died on one of the monitor.I have a ton of DP cables, a lot brand new, never used actually. I tested a good long hours and it’s not the videocard because all the ports work on the other monitor. As for the one that failed, only the DP port doesn’t work, whereas everything else works. This case, I’m pretty bummed and upset because I only have 1 HDMI on my PC, and the rest are all DP. Time to figure out manufacture warranty… either way seems like I have to ship the monitor, and I’m not even sure how that’ll work being it’s such a big monitor!!!Other than that, great monitor for studio and video editing! Color is nice, curve is perfect, and for the price, pretty good. Just wished the DP didn’t die exactly in 1 yr for one of them.

Great for a bright room & nice quality
I have a 27″ Dell 2K monitor I got over 10 years ago. Still looks like new. Works great and looks great. My wife needed to replace her 23″ Toshiba all in one computer. So I got this 4K Dell 32″ and a Beelink mini computer. She uses her computer with her back to the windows in a bright well lit room. Glare has always been a bit of a pain on the computer monitor. This Dell has the same non-glare matt screen as my 27″. And with the slightly curved screen it really fights the glare. Perfect. No sunlight glare.Bright high detail picture out of the box. Off axis viewing isn’t too bad.And the speakers are pretty nice. 5 watts (many monitors only 2 watts) and plenty loud but a little flatly tuned.. I was going to get a sound bar but instead I just downloaded a windows 11 sound equalizer app. and voila! Nice sounding speakers and ok bass! No desktop clutter by adding speakers! The USB C in and out is a great bonus but I haven’t used it yet.Make sure you download the latest monitor driver from Dell. (Windows update doesn’t install this).
