    Good Product, Good Seller.

I bought this because there was a great deal and knew it would be awesome when flying and traveling even though I had no specific purpose in mind when I bought it. It worked great for the first 7 months and I found more uses for it then I ever thought I would, it was worth the money even if I didn’t buy it during a lightning deal. The portable DVD player is exactly like the pictures. I purchased the red one, and it comes with a wall charger, car charger, game controller, remote control, and a T.V. adapter/hookup. You can download games from a website onto a USB/memory stick and play games that way, but I haven’t done that yet. After about 7/8 months I started having problems with it charging, I would plug it in and it would start charging before the light would flash red/green without having charged the battery, and the portable DVD player would only work if it was plugged in. Thus, defeating the point of a PORTABLE DVD player.I contacted the Seller and after a couple of emails and one video showing the problem, they sent me a replacement as I was within the one-year warranty (I did not purchase the additional warranty coverage). It was quick, easy, and I didn’t even have to go through the trouble of returning the defective product saving both time and money, which I find a blessing because I hate nothing more then having to package up and then stop at a post office to mail things.Customer service is great, the product is great for the price; even with the issue I faced the seller made the situation not as bad (the replacement came in less than two days from sending the video). While it sucked that I couldn’t use the product when I wanted to; (I was on a flight, really wanted to watch a movie and had no screen on that flight, the longest one) I wouldn’t think twice about doing business with this UNICSTAR again.

    Made for car use

I was pleasantly surprised to find it comes with a case to attach it to a head rest in a car. The remote is not working but that could be the batteries provided weren’t good. The main problem is the volume does not go very high. Road noise is louder than the player. It does come with lots of great connections, including a cigarette lighter plug in for the car. You DVD people know what I mean.

Too quiet to use in our truck

We use this for our kids to watch a movie in the evenings on our road trips. We’re usually in our diesel truck. Even with the volume on the highest setting, it is too quiet. Using headphone doesn’t help either, it’s still too quiet.

very nice swivel base–sturdy–will be useful

I liked its sturdiness-however it was difficult to follow the instructions for a novice like methey don’t mention certain things like removing the sticker off the laser beam (I learned finally not to do that)Also it was difficult to follow instructions for operating and the remote needs to be pressed hard

Feature rich device. Just don’t treat it rough!

The unit has some nice features, but you get what you pay for. The unit materials are cheap plastic so I wouldn’t recommend it as a headrest player for a car, but on a table or shelf somewhere it should be fine. The controls are intuitive but not easy to read. Many functions are just stamped into the black buttons.I/OAV in (you could use it as an A/V monitor)AV out, both in/out on a TRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve) 1/8″ mini jack to RCA style male A/V jacks, to go to a TV with A/V inHeadphone out 1/8″ stereo mini jackUSB port, can use up to a 16GB USB drive, formatted MS-DOS (FAT) to play movie files. I could only get AVI to be recognized, but it did play them.Neither MKV or MP4 files worked for me. Although the manual does have a very specific spec for MP4 to be able to play.SD Card, didn’t try it, but manual states it will support up to 16GB.USB Game Controller port (on rear), yes it has games. 8 Bit games like you played in the early 80’s. The controller play is horrible but it’s there if you want. The menu has settings to change from NTSC (American) to PAL (European) and I was surprised to find aspect ratio settings as well. Subtitles, language selection for DVD and menu language as well as basic picture and audio settings.Built in speakers at max are plenty loud (could still hear it from the next room) and don’t sound too bad.Plays DVD’s and CD’s (DVDR and CDR too)”MODE” switches between DVD, USB, SD and A/V in.Screen swivels 180* and can fold back.Picture quality is okay but adequate for the size of the screen. Couldn’t find a spec on the resolution but it’s probably 480 lines vertical. One year warranty and get 18 months if you like them on Facebook.AccessoriesAC 120 to 240VAC to 12VDC charger (cord is super short, you’ll need an extension cord)A/V adaptor cable (can be used for A/V in or out)12VDC car adapterUSB game controllerMini disc with 40 or so gamesIR remote (needs AAA batteries, not supplied)Since the power adapter can take either 120 or 240 VAC and the menu lets you choose NTSC or PAL, It might play DVD’s from any region but I could not test this!

Takes a lot of heavy wear, and still works just fine!

Update on June 2019: Rating has been downgraded from 5 to 3 stars, here’s why:The unit broke again in less than 18 months… based on life alone, and just like I did in my original review (below), I would have NOT downgraded because, in all honesty, the use I put this through was tough. It withstand moderate to heavy use quite well, considering the price. However, the controls in the new unit are flimsy from day one (waaaay more than the older version). The range of the remote is super limited, and the speakers suck. So in all honesty, it doesn’t deserve 5 stars for quality. It needs improvement to make it all the way to 5.Another reason for me to downgrade to 3 stars is because I learned this seller is overpricing the item. You can get the exact same thing from other sellers, here on Amazon. Price is a big factor for me, so with reasonable pricing, I’m willing to buy another unit even if it is not the best quality. I just got my third unit from Spacekey , and I’m not being paid to compare. I’m genuine in my feedback.*Original FeedbackI have bought this product twice: In October 2016, and in December 2017.Here’s an updated feedback based on both purchases: After more than a year of taking heavy wear, such as countless falls and the like, my old DBPOWER that I bought in 2016 is no longer working properly. In all honesty, had I bought the extended warranty offered by Amazon, it probably could have been fixed.I still rate this product as excellent and a good value, so I bought the exact same product without thinking about it twice. I have never had an electronic gadget taking so much falls and still working like nothing happened (screen in good shape all the time)…. so 14 months of heavy use is reasonable, to me.The new unit that I bought in December 2017, features some updates in its interface. The device itself seems to be slightly thicker in its dimensions, but it still fits my old DVD holder, so that works. There are a few other modifications in some of the accessories, but the overall quality seems to be as good as the previous version, so I am a happy camper. This time I bought the extended warranty offered by Amazon because we are tough users. All in all: I am really impressed with this unit. It can even play partially scratched discs other DVD players failed to recognize, so I really value that!

This is exactly what I was looking for

I don’t have a DVD player for my TV any more, and my computer doesn’t have a DVD/CD player/Writer either. With the age of watching Netflix, Amazon, and Roku a person really doesn’t need a lot of extra equipment laying around except when they do. So I noticed this portable player and realized that a lot of cars come equipped with this technology. I guess I’m running a bit behind. I just never stopped to think what I would do if I wanted to watch movies that I have on DVD, or CDs that I wanted to play, if I wasn’t able to do it. So I got this portable player so that I can easily move it to anywhere in the house if I should want to watch or listen. I can even take it on camping trips where there’s no tv or electric hook ups and it’ll play on battery or on a car cigarette lighter hook up. There’s an electric cord too in case of having electricity but no cable or tv shows going. It helps to dust off the old stuff once in awhile and play them. But now I have a reason to order more new stuff if I want to. It even has the cords to connect to the tv if I want to watch on a bigger screen. So it’s the perfect, portable player whenever you need it. I waited to write the review until I’d used it. If you need something like this, or want something nice to give a child that’s about 6-8 years old or so, this would definitely be a good one to give. I really like it.

All set for the thanksgiving road trip!

Just received my replacement product and it looks good. All set for our thanksgiving road trip now. The first DVD player I was sent was broken. The input and output ports were all recessed inside the device so there was no way to use them. But I called Amazon customer service to report the issue and they were able to send me out a replacement with next day shipping. I just plugged this one in to charge and I was able to play a movie right away. I’m curious to see how the battery holds a charge. Pretty straightforward device like any other DVD player. The sound is great. I plugged in my Bose headphones and that worked well with it too. The picture quality seems to be just okay but I’m used to our Blue Ray player and the 4K television. This came at a great price so it’s good enough. I’ll definitely be taking it with us in the trailer too where connecting a DVD player to the TV is cumbersome. As soon as I finish this review I’m going to try plugging the AV cables into a TV to see how that feature works. Haven’t tried out the remote yet but nice feature for when I fall asleep watching a movie my husband can stop the movie using a remote while driving. I doubt I’ll use the joystick. The device closes flat very nicely. So overall even with a defective product right out the gate how can you complain if it’s under warranty. I purchased the additional 4 year plan from amazon and if this lasts that long without breaking I’ll submit another review and buy my next one.

This is a meh product. Not going to return it because too hard to package it all up again and it was cheap. I’ll probably use it from time to time but would not buy it again. Side note: the instruction manual is useless. You’re on your own.

Nice player – glad I bought it

I stopped using my old portable DVD player because the poor sound and picture were annoying, but I was left with a lot of DVD’s going to waste, plus a large CD collection. I decided it was time to make use of them and selected this DBPower model, and am glad I did. I like the different power and charging options allowing me to use it just about anywhere. There are lots of features on the remote and the player itself, and the picture is very good and the sound is surprisingly clear with ample volume. I had expected to need headphones but haven’t had to use them yet. Of course I’ll use them to cut the sound when others are around. I’ve only had it a few days but am sure I will enjoy using it under a lot of different circumstances in the future. For instance, I’m looking forward to using it next month during my layover at the airport, and on the plane itself. Guess I’ll have to let the kids use it in the car, too.A lot of small electronics have only 90-day warranties, so I feel reassured by the one year warranty offered by DBPower on this player. Noteworthy, the unit came well packaged and very well protected by the manufacturer, with additional outer packaging by Amazon.

    stopped working 10 mos. later

This worked fine at first, but after 10 months it will often say No Disc no matter which DVD I stick in there. It will sometimes start loading the disc, then quit and go back to saying No Disc. I also agree with other reviewers who said the remote wasn’t that responsive…felt like you had to press hard on the remote button 7 times, while aiming it at a certain spot on the player, to get it to register. Overall: meh.

Mechanical sounds, making subtitles disappear. Not compatible with blue-ray/blue-tooth.

Happy with it. But wish it was bluetooth speaker capable and compatible with blu-ray dvds. You have to use the subtitle button on the remote not the button on the dvd unit to make subtitles disappear. Just keep pressing the subtitle button on the remote until subtitles disappear. Makes mechanical noises when unit is preparing the dvd for viewing but doesn’t mean something is wrong with the unit.

Very nice item for the price; a few comments

UPDATE: WONDERFUL SUPPORT !!! I lost the remote control, making it hard to do functions like PAUSE and RESTART which are pretty important. I wrote the mfgr (support at dbpower dot co) and they were super helpful and actually just sent me the new unit. That’s five stars for sure!###ORIGINAL REVIEWFirst of all, this is a inexpensive item and any comments I make should be taken in that light. This is a fine item for the price. I did notice one or two quirks (see HEADPHONE).WHY DID I GET THIS? Who uses DVDs? I get some from my library, sometimes from Netflix (many DVDs that Netflix does not allow to “stream”), and sometimes I get European DVDs which THIS player WILL play. Also some DVD’s don’t play at all on my computer because they sense it is a computer or has a record function.EASE OF USE. Easy to charge (red light goes off when charged). You can get instruction book online (Google search for model) but note the indexes to the two figures of the machine and the remote, are reversed. The top dial has four functions at the four points: Volume down and up (left/right) and screen on/off and Stop (top/bottom). The middle button M = Menu. The middle three buttons cycle between DVD/USB/SD Mem Card (clearly labeled), “mode” which means internal versus external video supply, and Setup which is setup of the DVD player itself with quite a few nerdy options. The bottom dial is fast rewind (several speeds) and fast forward (several speeds) (left/right) and jump track (top/bottom). The standard GO or OK button (for answering screen menus) is in the middle of the bottom dial.HEADPHONE. This is the main quirk I found. If you use cell phone earbuds with a MIC button (3 or 4 stripes on the plug) it may NOT work WELL. If this happens, jiggle it, or better, use earbuds with NO MIC only sound.SCREEN. It’s fairly good, but remember, this is very inexpensive.USB. When you insert a USB plug it will auto open the menu with a list of files on that USB; click up and downward on the bottom dial to select. Easy enough. But I haven’t seen a USB movie yet. I have movies in MP4 and H246 format and it won’t play those, so be careful which formats of movie you try.

Nice little DVD Player. Perfect for my grandchild’s use.

When I received my initial DVD player, the holder for the car was broken and the player wouldn’t run unless the charger was plugged into it. I made a complaint and I received the replacement within 1-2 days. My return was very smooth. It’s a perfect little player for my granddaughter to drag around with her for appointments or long car rides etc.. Plus we still have a bunch of old kid DVD’s so we needed something to play them on. It’s nice looking unit, the blue color is very nice. I will say the replacement holder works, but it’s a little janky.

I purchased this product and tested it with my toddler on a 40 hour road trip; Unit has some issues

You are purchasing this product because of the price and rating, but don’t expect miracles after you receive it. I went on a long road trip with my 2-year old and decided to buy this product and test it during our journey. We drove a total of 40 hours and found the unit to be a decent portable DVD player, but we also experienced some serious flaws with the unit. This DVD player is lightweight, fairly compact, and features some great accessories. The LCD screen is clear, but not necessarily crisp. The internal speakers do a decent job, but sound levels were sporadic between movies and too quiet on some—easy fix with a portable speaker or headphones. The unit isn’t the fastest thing to load media, but we are dealing with fairly archaic technology with longer load times. The swivel screen allows users to watch movies on a horizontal or vertical surface, such as on a desktop or in the vehicle on headrest mount (not included). The DVD player is fairly inexpensive and has some serious design flaws. The included remote is difficult to comprehend with a plethora of gray buttons with white symbols on them. This makes it impossible to see unless you have it in direct light, which made operating the unit in the car during the evening and night an absolute nightmare. The remote is also extremely useless when watching the unit in a car in a headrest mount. The sensor for the remote is placed on the top of the DVD player for use on a horizontal surface, which makes it impossible to use in a vehicle unless you point the remote directly above the unit. The unit has buttons which allow for volume, media, and playback controls. These work great if watching the unit on a horizontal surface, but if you swivel the screen to place in the headrest mount the buttons are smashed and the DVD player will quit working. We usually had the unit start to endlessly fast forward the movie until we took the unit out of the mount, fixed the playback, and gently placed it back into the mount—usually we had to repeat this process several times before we could get it to work in the mount. This design flaw also caused the unit to behave erratically on large bumps on the road, ending our movies early.I was excited the unit played digital media and wanted to watch some of our digital library, but the formats compatible with the unit are outdated. The unit does not support MPEG4 playback, unless it is very low quality—I never got an MPEG4 to work after several different attempts to convert the media to various other formats. When outputting the AV—to a television or other AV inputs—the unit will still playback sound. I hooked the unit up to the hotel room television with the included AV cables, but could never turn the sound off on the unit; which was mildly annoying, but not a deal-breakerOverall, the DVD player is decent for the price, but you aren’t going to be watching a plasma TV with surround sound in high definition. It has some serious set backs, but it kept my 2-year old happy during the trip—when it worked.PROS:• Accessories: including power cord, vehicle power cord, remote, AV cord, video game controller (not tested, looks cheap), and remote control (absolutely worthless)• USB port• AV output and input• Lightweight• Fairly compactCONS:• Remote is worthless• Remote doesn’t work in vehicle mode• Unit presses own buttons in vehicle mode• You need the skills of Indiana Jones replacing the golden idol with a sandbag to get the unit to play while placing it in a vehicle headrest mount• Unit continues to produce sound when outputting AV

    Looks Sturdy

I bought this portable DVD player because I have been priced out of the television market. Televisions today are bigger, cost more, need to interact with other systems to get the best experience, and at the same time are becoming obsolete as far as keeping up with current events is concerned. I like to watch movies. And now that Netflix wants customers to stream, this DVD player will provide the entertainment I like, that is affordable when paired with Redbox’s service. The screen is a little small. But that’s on me. I will be able to use the plug in earphones. So sound won’t be a problem. It came securely packaged. And I received the order in a reasonable amount of time.

    Works but be warned

I purchased 2 for a road trip. Once mounted it is very difficult to use the remote. They also skipped a lot while mounted but when hand held in the vehicle they played much better. The sound quality was good. Volume was appropriate without headphones. The mounts themselves are cheap and fall apart quickly. They also don’t secure very well to the headrest. It’s difficult to watch darker scenes (like Harry Potter or Batman style) but cartoon colors play very well. The remote can be daunting for younger children. Overall I would not buy again.

First, my mom has been wanting a portable dvd player to watch my grandpas funeral. She’s very pleased with the quality of the video. I’m also really impressed with the sound quality! It’s surprisingly loud. I haven’t tried connecting it to the TV, but I’m glad it has that option! Remote came with batteries, and work perfectly fine with the player. Thank you.

    Fairly happy

To start off, this was a purchase for the kids to use occasionally as in car entertainment, as most of the reviews you will read here. So with that in mind, first thing I’ll address is the build quality. Keep in mind you are paying $66 for this, so don’t expect a Sony or a Samsung. It is really light, all plastic and the buttons are all plastic as well, but with at least a nice texture to them. If you’re kids are rough with things, this won’t last too long. But if they can manage to take care half decently, it’ll be worth the money. The playback quality and screen quality are actually really nice. It’s big enough to be able to watch it even if you mount it to the headrest (I’ll get to that shortly) and it’s small enough for the resolution to look really good. The speakers are surprisingly loud enough that the kid doesn’t need to put on headphones, and can stay somewhat grounded to reality. It’s been a few weeks and he’s really enjoying on random rides that would otherwise aggravate or annoy. I think on our first charge, we got 4-5 hours out of it. It was in spurts of watching time, so it’s a little tough to judge. All the accessories that come with it are average in build and quality, the game controller though doesn’t even feel real. It is so light, you wonder if there’s anything inside. The game disc though does not ship anymore according to the seller. Instead they sent me a link to download the files to a usb drive and use that and it turns out those games are actually just Nintendo Roms that run on what I assume is a built in emulator on the system. So don’t expect much out of the gaming section in this, unless your we’re/are and NES fan, this isn’t anything to get your kids or yourself excited about. And as of now, I have yet to find a way to adjust the volume on the Game mode, which is obnoxiously loud!Regarding mounting options for car headrests, there are basically none. I purchased a universal tablet mount, but the issue was the thickness of the DVD player was far too great to fit the clamps of the mount. I can alter and fabricate myself a new bracket that attaches to the base of what I bought, but not many people will be able to do this. So keep that in mind if you are looking for something to mount to the headrest.Overall though, I’m perfectly satisfied with what I got for $66. If you want something more sophisticated, higher build quality or more features etc. you’ll have to go name brand. But for simple movie watching, to keep in the car or anything along those lines, this is more than enough!

    Portable dvd player with screen

I love the dvd player! It works great! I use it on its own or can connect it to my projector. I purchased an inexpensive, small sound bar that connects through the USB and headphone ports. My only dislike is that the remote control is a piece of crap! Most of the time it does not work and I am still trying to access all the functions of the dvd player without it.

You get what you pay for.

We bought one black, red and a blue dvd player for our boys first big road trip. I knew at this price they wouldn’t be great but I felt a review was needed. They are flimsy built. The closure for the dvd doesn’t seat all of the way so there is a small gap when it is closed and can be wiggled. It is this way on two of the 3 players. Movie quality is decent, sound quality is ok. Battery time is good so far but they have only been used once. It does take a while for them to fully charge. I would suggest charging the night before you need them. Even at $60 each we felt like they should be a little better. So 2 stars, price was decent but I’m afraid they will not hold up.

Best portable device of this kind for this money. Highly recommend.

This portable dvd player was a life saver for me! I have a toddler who just so happens to be obsessed with a specific character and television show. I do a lot of driving between sports events with my older children and just driving in general, so it gets kind of hard to keep my youngest happy while she is stuck in the car for long periods of time. She knows how to work my cell phone and loves to touch the screen and press buttons. While trying to keep her occupied in the car, I try to put some videos on my phone for her to watch, but she is little miss independent and has to hold the phone herself. This causes a problem because she has to push buttons and play with it, which in turn, stops the video. Not fun to deal with, trust me. I have another portable dvd player, but that one has buttons exposed for her to press as well. This particular dvd player swivels to rotate the screen and close it to act more like a tablet. The best part is that the buttons are hidden when you close it down, so she can no longer change the video or turn it off! The speakers are still front facing, so the sound quality is still good. Sometimes it’s good to go old school and have no touch screen! Now we have much quieter car rides and she stays nice and content. It holds quite the charge on the battery and also comes with the house charger and the power cord for the car as well. The remote makes it even easier for me to change the video from afar. The other great thing is that this unit also accepts memory cards and usb inputs! My other device does not have that ability, so you either watch a dvd or nothing at all (while in the car). With this device, I am able to download some of my kids’ favorite shows or movies onto a memory card and they are able to watch them while we are out. One thing to keep in mind is the video format that needs to be downloaded, as I accidentally loaded the wrong format of video onto the memory card the first attempt at using it, and I had not completely read all the details on which files it accepts. After switching it to AVI file, everything worked out perfectly! We will be taking this camping with us next month, too.

    Perfect for car rides

This is a life saver for car rides with toddlers! So easy to use and the battery lasts a long time. It also comes with two chargers – one for the car and one for walls. Also it includes a remote and a holder to go on the back of a car seat. Would definitely recommend this player.

    So far good 👍🏼

I bought one smaller one right before I found this, and compared them both. I love that this one is much bigger in screen. Video is clear and sound is good! My son will enjoy this with headphones on car rides. Returning smaller one and will be keeping this one.

Good Battery Life and Picture, not as durable as an old one

We bought these to replace some older DVD players we’d been using for a few years (Insignia from Best Buy) for our kids on extended cross country camping trips. We just have a ton of DVDs and use these in the backseat. We had our other ones for several years.Positives: Good Picture, Intuitive Use, Remote (but we don’t use), and supports a number of file formats (for use with USB or SD card), Battery Life is far better than the old ones even when they were new.Cons: Quality seems a bit lower. DVD lid easier to break. Our son (5) isn’t as gentle as he could be with these, and his DVD lid broke in some way where his won’t play DVDs any more. The old ones lasted years with the same son. This said, because it supports various file formats via USB/SD, we decided to use that feature instead (saves a lot of room), so the player still works fine. This said, if you just need a screen to play MPEG files, you might not need a DVD player.

    Sound quality poor

Very hard to hear. Volume doesn’t go up as high as previous similar players we have used. Not impressed with picture quality either. Glad it has a holder for the car seat, but doubtful it will be loud enough to use in the car.

Volume max is 20, I need about 50

I had to return the portable dvd player.Volume on cd’s were great and very loud at level 10. I tried 3 different quality movies thinking it was: a. my headphones b. a low quality dvd c. the sound quality varied greatly from cds to dvds. I read instructions to see if I was a dimwit, nope, not this time. The sound was extremely low for movies. Never owned one before and I should have read more reviews prior to buying and it would have saved me frustration. I do not think it is company specific, I read various manufacturers reviews and the volume issue is seemingly a common problem.

Best $50 I’ve spent in a long time.

This was an impulse buy, but it far exceeded expectations. Our old car had headrest DVD players and my daughter loved watching her collection of Disney films on it during road trips. When we bought our Tesla it has no option for rear seat entertainment. Our daughter occasionally brought along an old laptop to watch movies, but it was cumbersome, heavy and she would get 1 movie from a charge if she was lucky. So we had to use an inverter and the bulky laptop charger for longer trips.I saw this a few weeks ago and decided to go for it and give it a try. What a difference! We’ve had it for about a week now and I can’t imagine not having it. When you find an impulse buy and suddenly realize that you needed it long ago, that’s a win in my book. Here’s a quick overview and I did some testing (I’m a mechanical engineer, couldn’t help myself) using scenarios that is everyday people can relate to.Stability test: I popped in A Bug’s Life and gently shook the DVD player. No reaction. I then did some large swinging motions, again no reaction. I then grabbed it tight with both hands and shook it VIOLENTLY, somehow no reaction whatsoever.Scratched disc test:I took a movie she didn’t like (water horse on DVD rw) and repeatedly played it after rubbing it against a tile floor. It continue to play until it looked like the attached photo. I popped it into a laptop and it didn’t even recognize the disc.Audio test: I played a movie at full volume in the backseat, and since the cars electric there’s no point in doing a driving test as it’s nearly silent. I did, however, use the car radio to try and drown it out. By the time it was difficult to hear the movie the stereo system was a bit louder than we typically use. The headphones are a different story. Using a pair of Sony noise cancelling headphones I plugged a cord in and sat back. You only need to have the volume at level 3 to hear it clearly in a noisy environment. There’s no Bluetooth so you would have to use a dongle if you want to avoid cords.I didn’t get time to fully test the battery life, but she can watch 2 DVD movies while wearing headphones without issue. I imagine if you use a USB stick or SD card you could get 4+ hours of screen time.Pros:The stability is otherworldly. I would like to disassemble it to see how they have achieved this level of shock resistance. It still hasn’t skipped once except during the scratch test. It’s light, like SHOCKINGLY light. (750 grams) Hard to believe there’s a battery in it at all, much less one that lasts for hours. The swivel screen is a nice touch and makes it so easy for her to hold. They included a nice assortment of cables and a 12v charger cord. The video quality is very good, it’s not full HD but neither are DVDS. A Bug’s Life never looked better!Cons:Nothing really. I don’t know what you could complain about for $50.

    Cuts out for few seconds

Glad to find the features I need for audiobooks, but had performance issues. It would randomly cut out for a few seconds from Day 1 while in stationary position. After about 18 months, it quit holding battery charge.Appreciated that it had both next/back & ff/rewind, as that can be hard to find.

Attention to Detail, Nice Sturdy Unit for the Price. Just unpack and begin playing !!!!

Although i just received this unit today the presentation was tremendous. Double boxed, and the item itself offered a nice heavy card board carrying case with a plastic handle. Inside the item was secured in heavy bubble wrap for secure and safe shipping. Once opened, the unit operated immediately and was ready to go. The battery was fully charged. The screen was bright and clear and the sound was very good for this little unit. The remote was much better than most although small the buttons were easy to use unlike others i have tried. Batteries ( 2 AAA) not included were needed for the remote. For the price its a great unit. Never heard of this particular brand and i needed someone to use to show my customers their finished dvds from my studio at pickup, understanding that with the current covid crisis i was not allowing customers into my home studio. I was needing a new unit and was researching Walmart, Best Buy, B & H photo and others looking for an inexpensive but solid unit and it was all so confusing until i found a review on youtube where a gentleman did a Open Box review of this unit. I was sold. Made the purchase and had this in 2 days….. For now, so far so good. So, if your in the market for a small dvd player that offers a CD, DVD, SD Card and Usb option check out the DBPOWER Portable Video Player Model PD-928. It includes the A/C adapter/ independent Remote Control/ Car Charger 12 volt as well as a set of RCA cables if you wish to connect this unit to your television…..

You get what you pay for….

UPDATE:This vendor has entreated me to upgrade my review (originally three stars). I have bumped it up to four stars to acknowledge the significant concern about my satisfaction. My complaints below with with the product itself – the perfunctory user guide, the inconsistency between the buttons on the player itself and what is found on the teeny tiny remote. But the vendor offered to refund my money and tried (hard) to insure my satisfaction. That counts! This is not the right device for my needs, but that happened through no fault of the vendor, no false advertising, no bait/switch. I’m going to call that my mistake, and not ding the vendor for selling an operational product at a reasonable price.———————————ORIGINALI went cheap on this because I only need it to play back guitar training DVDs, but the product does the job okay. However….No pause button on the unit itself? Ridiculous, forcing use of the teeny tiny remote.Anyone with eyesight challenges will find the remote almost impossible, just a tiny rectangle with micro-buttons, and the arrangement of the buttons is borderline random. Try to hit Play/Pause and hit fast forward or reverse by mistake – very frustrating. Also the manual is nearly useless – talk about fine print! Plus the page about controls confuses the remote and the unit itself. So yes, it worked out of the box, but if you’re not a child in the back seat of the van watching a Disney retread, the controls are very problematic.Really? No pause button on the unit itself.

    Portable, Versatile DVD Player

I am reviewing the second DVD player I received. The first one would read discs intermittently and for the most wouldn’t read discs. I had no problem getting a second one quickly sent to me. It is a 9″ screen. I wouldn’t want any smaller. But it has a clear picture. I did reset the contrast to about 3 which helped. (A previous reviewer had recommended that). It is a personal viewer so the best picture will be seen by the one holding it. The sound is ok but not a lot usually is great with small speakers. Through headphones, the sound is pretty decent. It also reads my usb flashdrive. I did hookup the unit via av output jack to our 52″ tv. Playing a movie through the unit came out with good picture and sound on the bigger tv and sound system. For video gamers with older systems, I hooked up the game output to the av input jack with a $6 adapter through Amazon. I used a PlayStation 2 and a game cube. The picture and sound were good. I can see while traveling being able to play through it when a tv or monitor aren’t available. So, bottomline, this is a very versatile player for portability. It will not replace our home systems but will come in handy for travelling. I haven’t tested the battery for longevity, but I did receive the unit almost fully charged, even though I did hook up a charger per instructions for initialcharge. For the price it’s a good unit, and I feel like I have manufacturer’s and seller support. Down the road, I hope it’s still going strong.

I bought this dvd player to replace an old one I had. It’s a lot nicer but it tends to get stuck when I play my dvd’s. My old one didn’t do that so I’m not sure why this happens. But overall it normally works pretty good.

    Good overall

DVD player itself works perfectly. Kept my 6 year old entertained but daddy forgot the headset so I had the pleasure of listening to Scooby Doo and other kids shows on our 16 hour drive. Battery life was quite good it never truly died on her but after a couple movies she would turn it off in search of other entertainment. The only item I was left wondering about was the seat mounting kit it shows in the picture. I was assuming the item came with this or why else would it be in the photo. That is my reason for the lower rating and that alone. I bought this unit as a last minute purchase and without the mount my daughter was forced to hold this the entire time. If I would have known it did not come with the mount I would have ordered one to go along with the item. Also I am unsure if registering the item for the warranty truly works as my phone shows the website as possibly being hacked upon Google search. Click the link and it seems send to a pornographic site. Luckily my phone stops before entry or surprise surprise.
