    Very useful

I have a disabled daughter–psoriatic arthritis–and standing at a stove in a warm kitchen is just not within her ability anymore. I got her this small induction single burner cooktop to help her feel a little more independent.Couple things were most important. The burner needed to be easy and quick to use, and I didn’t want an open flame or element burner. My daughter has dogs, and since she sits when she cooks, she wanted to make certain no dog could get burned. Induction seemed our best option. As others have mentioned, temperature settings are a little difficult to control, so cooking that requires precision is probably not within the capabilities of this unit. But that’s not what we were going for. Other than that, this unobtrusive, sleek little burner did exactly what we were hoping. It’s reasonably safe to use, and that was my biggest concern.Recommended.

    Handy portable cooktop

The Cooktron induction cooktop is a handy tool to add to your kitchen appliances. Induction cooking gives you the temperature control of gas while using electricity. The Cooktron is easy to use and easy to clean up afterwards. The touch controls are easy to see and are responsive to the touch. Because the cooktop doesn’t actually heat up, it is safer to use than traditional hot plates. This makes the Cooktron ideal for cooking dishes at the table or using it to keep foods warm at the table. Because of the nature of induction heating, your cookware has to be compatible. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of your cookware, it is compatible. There is a fan in the unit that audible, but not obtrusive. The Cooktron Portable Induction Cooktop is a great purchase.

    Consistent Cooker

This COOKTRON 1800W Single Countertop Portable Induction Cooktop, Temperature Controls has been an excellent portable cooking surface that provides consistent results. My first impression of this thing was from the first time I used it, I was pleased with how quickly it heated up and how evenly the heat is distributed across the surface. The size and weight make this easy to take along with you wherever you need it, as long as you have a way to power it, like a power inverter or battery power station.Overall, this is a great portable cooking surface that heats up quickly and offers consistent performance. 5/5 stars.

    Good cooktop

It is very important to have a portable stove as it is, as they are quite useful for moments of an emergency, a trip or small spaces. It is quite light and very practical to take anywhere. It has its instruction manual and it is very easy to use. I like that the electric plug is two-prong, which makes it even easier to use anywhere, since many times you have to buy an extra adapter when the plug is three-prong. As you can see, it has different functions such as the timer, on and off button, locking function and heating intensity mode. The quality of the product and performance, I can tell you that they are quite good.

Compact, effective, and doesn’t make my room hotter

I live in a little studio and I have a 4 burner gas stovetop. I hate cooking anything now that summer is in full swing here in the desert. Even with my air conditioner running nonstop, there are times when my little room can only be cooled down to 80F. So turning on the gas cooktop right now is the last thing I want to do. It makes me feel like I’m inside an oven.I ordered this little cooktop in the hopes that I can cook something without raising the temperature inside my room. This induction cooktop has exceeded my expectations.Things I like:- I cooked ramen today and my room stayed nice and cool. I’m currently eating my hot ramen in the comfort of a 77F room as I write this review.- It’s big enough to use a large pan if you want to cook a big meal, but small enough to where it doesn’t take up too much space (a big plus in my little studio).- The child lock feature seems like a good safety feature.- It brought my water to a boil faster than my gas cooktop does.- There is a fan that starts once the cooktop starts heating. It makes a little noise but is quieter than my wall air conditioner. It cools down quick.- It looks nice.Spots where I ran into a challenge:- I had to read the instructions to figure out how to use it. This is not really a negative (it’s mostly a reflection on my own impatience). The instructions are important. Don’t toss them.- Requires induction cookware – this may be obvious for most people, but I’ve never used an induction cooktop before and didn’t realize that you have to have specific induction cookware to use with it. Because I impatiently tried to use it without reading the instructions first, I tried two pans that didn’t work with it. They did have a handy tip in their instruction manual about using a magnet to see if a pan will work, which I appreciated.Overall:Despite my inexperience with induction cooking, I really like this cooktop very much. It cooked fast and was easy to use once I read the instructions. The instructions are important and have a bunch of error codes for troubleshooting in the back. Normally I toss instruction books but this one seems important to keep. I took a picture of the error codes which I will post with my review in case anyone needs them (and for myself if I lose the book). This item is a keeper. When I move halfway across the country in a few months I plan to take it with me (along with the one pan I have that works with it). This will be handy for hotel stays!

The best countertop Induction that I have encountered.

This is the one you are looking for. Performance is excellent… it blows the competition away.In the US, countertop induction is hampered by our use of 120v electricity. It’s so much less powerful that the full size induction ranges that people can put in as an installed unit in their kitchens. However, this unit can cook a standard size boxed macaroni and cheese in eleven ( 11 ) minutes flat. Using refrigerated filtered water from the moment I turned the unit on, set at 1,800w, until the pasta was ready to drain the total elapsed time was right at eleven minutes.Other countertop Induction units I have tested can cook the same exact brand and style of mac-n-cheese in anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes. Again, this one can do it in 11 minutes. That is a 26.6 percent improvement over the previous fastest unit I have tested. So, once again, this is the one you want. It’s not whisper quiet but then you don’t have to listen to it as long either.Definitely recommended. AAA+++

    Great extra burner!

I recently was having a Halloween party and somehow my guest list of 25 turned into 40 (“can I bring my friend?” or “My son and wife are in town, can they come?” etc.) So I needed more food. The party was on my patio and I do have a chafing dish and 2 crockpots, but needed more heating for food, especially since the food was outdoors and would get cold really quickly without heat.I saw this and it looked like a perfect item for this. I could put my pot on it and just set it to low. It worked so well!!! No open flames, and the big cast iron pot of meatballs stayed for the entire party! It didn’t take up a lot of room on my buffet table and didn’t get hot on the bottom. It was really a perfect solution. I didn’t put it away yet because Thanksgiving is coming up and I always am short burners on my 4-burner stove. I have a relative who can’t have gluten or dairy so I need to make extra/alternate items for her and always run out of burners. This will be great to have an extra burner.

Electric cooktop that you can take anywhere!

This cooktop lets me cook food in my cast iron skillet anywhere I can find a place to plug in. Great for cooking outside in the summer to avoid heating up the house. I can cook on the deck and visit with friends instead of being stuck inside at the stovetop. We’ve even taken this unit camping when the site had electrical hookup and had a safer, cleaner cooking experience than we would have over the fire or using the propane camp stove. The first time I used this cooktop was making fried potatoes for a large group. The cooktop was perfect at keeping the pan at an precise temperature and ran for almost 2 hours without an issue. Performance was beyond expectations and the different heat setting allow for precise temperature control. Very impressed with this electric cooktop so far. Highly recommended.

    It works quite well

My daughter is a chef, and is always on the lookout for new equipment. While not advertised as being designed for commercial purposes, the quality of this cooktop is quite good, and adds another surface for her (she runs a food truck as well as a brick and mortar cafe). Only 4 instead of 5 because the temp controls are not exactly accurate.

size great but need special equipment

I loved the size because you could use on counter and not take up much space. I haven’t got to use though because I didn’t have the kind of pots and pans it needs. I didn’t know you needed cookware which is induction ready. Also, you will need the manual to use till you are used to using it.

    Small and sleek

I live in a very small space, so my cooking options are limited. I’ve been using a two burner hot plate but haven’t liked how long it takes to heat up and how messy/dirty it gets so I decided to try switching to a single induction burner to save space. Out of the box, this burner is super sleek and lightweight. It has a surprisingly small footprint and profile, but it fits my biggest stockpot. It heated up my pot super fast and stayed cool to the touch. One of my frying pans that was supposed to be induction compatible gave a really loud (and unnerving) buzzing sound when on the burner, but my other pots did not. The cord is very sturdy and should last a long time. I’m so fascinated by the concept of magnets inducting heat! I love science and this burner!

    Heats up quick!

It takes awhile to boil a cup of cold water, but this does it in under 45 seconds, making it faster than the microwave. It’s impressive how quickly I can get dinner done with this burner. It doesn’t show fingerprints, matches my appliances, is compatible with all of my cookware, and is easy to use. The instructions were clear and well written. I may never use my glass top stove again. 😅

    Safe to use

Regular Chinese-style hot pot will use a mobile gas stove, and it is found that there is an unsafe situation where the surrounding heat is high, and the gas bottle is too close to the fire source. The heat around the induction cooker is greatly reduced, and it feels safer to use.

    Fast, fun, stylish

Our kitchen features appliances with black/stainless trim, so this blends perfectly with that aesthetic. This is a very stylish unit – the kitchen does not suffer at all from having this on the counter. We have a glasstop stove but it is not an induction cooker, so this was our first experience with that technology. We test drove it by bringing two cups of water to a fast boil. We saw steam in less than a minute, bubbles forming at the bottom of the skillet in less than two minutes, had a center boil in under three minutes and a fast boil of the full two cups in less than five minutes. Immediately after removing the pan, I hovered my hand an inch above the center of the unit and could feel no heat. The red warning light and fan stayed on for less than a minute, after which it was entirely safe to touch the surface. The instruction manual cautions to keep the unit on a non-flammable/heat resistant surface and I will definitely stick to that, but upon lifting the unit, the countertop was completely cool underneath. When the cooking surface is powered on, the default power setting is 800 watts. Clicking the settings menu a second time switches the display to show the cooking temperature. In our market (US) it measures in degrees fahrenheit. I did not note any options for celsius. Also, the degrees are not fully scalable – you must work within the options provided, which range from 140, 176, 212, 248, 284, 320, 356, 392, 428, 464. The power levels are measured in watts and range from 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800. There is no direct correlation between wattage and degrees fahrenheit. Any wattage will deliver the full range of cooking temperatures, but I assume lower watts take longer to reach higher temps. That’s not science, just intuition. The default setting at start is 800 watts and and I assume that is the “sweet spot” for efficiency and, perhaps, longevity of the components. This being an induction cooker, not all pots and pans will work with it. In that regard, the instructions advised us to test compatibility with a magnet. We discovered most of our cookware was not induction friendly. For instance, our cast iron cookware is of the ideal material, but has ridges on the bottom, whereas the instructions state the bottom of your pan must be flat. Ultimately we did have one skilllet that the magnet stuck to very solidly and that did have a smooth bottom. There is nothing in the instructions regarding care and cleaning, other than, “clean with wet cloth, wash directly.” We have a glasstop stove, so already have appropriate cleaning supplies – including a razor/scraper – that we intend to use with it.Our original use case for this was for outdoors. We buy bacon in 10 pound boxes and divide into four freezer bags. Once every few weeks (or so), we fry up a batch outside on a propane camp stove, where splatter doesn’t matter. We’ll stilll be using this for that task, but given the precision of the temperature control and the speed at which it heats, we are seeing new possibilities. Theorectically, it should be possible to dial in a temperature/time combination to achieve the perfect over easy egg or fluffy pancake, and etc.All in all, we are blown away by the looks, utility, and performance of this unit. Although there will be a period of trial and error, the ability to dial in a specific temp is a game changer for those of us used to the standard “low, medium, high”.Long story short – we love it!

    Super handy!

This has worked really well and exceeded my expectations. This was my first time using induction so I enjoyed it a lot.The safety features work great like turning off if you remove the pot, only working with specific cookware and cooling off quickly.

    AWESOME PORTABLE STOVE

The media could not be loaded.

This is the greatest item I’ve ever seen. It’s easy to clean. When I turned it on. It says Lo then I tapped on power. It says on. So I put a very small pot of water on to boil. And it says E0. And it comes with instructions but couldn’t figure out how to get it out of error mode. So I decided to put a much bigger pot on. And wow. Works just fine. So this won’t pick up smaller cookware. This stove heats so fast that if ur not careful u can burn food easily. And it let’s u know stove still hot with the letter H displaying . Once the H disappear then it’s not hot anymore. I recommend and so work the money.

    For me not worth it

After 5 uses the fan began to make crunching noises. I’ve looked at it and nothing is broken. I haven’t dropped it or misused it. Now I have to take it somewhere and have it looked at. Not worth the money when it’s junk after 5 uses.

    Failed in 2 Months.

UPDATE: After about 2 months of light use, this cooktop started making our cookware shake when in use. This morning, something blew inside and the kitchen smelled like burned plastic. The cooktop kept working, but I forsee the end is near.Once you get familiar with induction cook tops, you’ll love the fact that they heat quicky. You’ll need to familiarize yourself with the different heat settings too. This COOKTRON single portable cooktop is perfect for our kitchenette and will also be used in our campervan. It is lightweight and doesn’t take up much space. Cleanup on the smooth surface is a breeze.

There is a rhythmic ticking-clicking sound when heating (not the regular booming sound). The Amazon technical assistant says it’s expected as designed according to the manufacturer. Anyway, I found it too annoying so I took it back.

Sleek looking cooktop, but uses a lot of power

I got this cooktop as a supplement to the other single-burner induction cooktop we own. Our main gas cooktop is not functional, and before we buy an expensive 36” induction cooktop, we thought it would be a great idea to try the technology out first on a portable model. However, it’s been hard to get by with just one burner, so we tried a second. This cooktop is sleek looking, and it’s great that the cooking area is only hot underneath where the pan is. I thought it was interesting that there was wattage control, in addition to temperature control. However, I did not like that the temperature couldn’t be adjusted to whatever temp we desired. The temperature was only able to go up or down in 20 degree increments, which we found was sometimes too much, and sometimes too little. Here’s where our major problem lied: every time we used it, it would trip the GFCI outlet and circuit breaker! Perhaps it was too much wattage to use at the same time as our other cooktop? We tried lowering the wattage and it still turned the entire outlet (and circuit) off. So we are back to using our old cooktop and using one pan at a time. Really disappointed, since I wanted to be able to use both at the same time.

FAILED 3 days later. Bogus Chinese math (and marketing)

UPDATE- mere 3 days after receiving it, the control knob (the best part about this induction top) stopped working- it’s now a single setting 800W appliance.Like the 99.9% of Chinese no name brand products sold on Alibazon, this one is no different- nothing but exaggerated claims (read- lies). The 8.26″ advertised cooking coil/element diameter- the main reason I bought this unit- is not even 5″ (see photos). Ironically, even the printed circle is far smaller than 8″ in diameter, not that the circle itself is of any consequence…Otherwise, the induction cooktop works, but be ready to be stirring a lot if you cook in but the smallest pots and pans- the temperature distribution is very uneven outside of center. Also, get ready to have all your nice cooking pots and pans ruined- eventually, the center area will pop up and instead of a flat surface they’ll take on a convex shape and the oil/liquid will be pooling on the outside perimeter of a pan.I do like the simple knob control which seems pretty unique in the China Sea of all these copycat induction cooktops- just so much easier to use and quickly adjust temperature or power output. So one extra start for this simple design solution.I also purchased a Nuwave Gold model after I’d ordered this Cooktron cooktop. Nuwave also advertised a 8″ coil element and cost some 60% more, but turned out to have the same exact size coil, around 5″ (all these “brands” most likely source and use all the same parts inside) Seeing how Cooktron top was $40 vs $70 for nuwave and it has better control, the Nuwave is going right back. Cooktron is also supposedly 1800W vs 1500W for Nuwave, but I suspect those numbers aren’t to be trusted either.

Nice little cooktop, temperature control doesn’t seem accurate

In case you’ve never used an induction cooktop it’s pretty neat. Instead of burning gas or using a heating element or radiant heat, it uses electricity to heat the pan itself instead of the surface below it. You have to make sure your pan is magnetic though, some don’t work.So now that this is out of the way, we used to have an induction cooktop way back and used it a lot. It’s really convenient since you can set it up on a countertop and not have to clutter the regular range. It was an earlier model though and eventually the plastic started to crack and we eventually got rid of it. Saw this one and figured it was about time to score up another one.It arrived, the packaging was plenty adequate with foam to protect it inside the box. The instructions are pretty much standard Chinese translation; you get the gist of what to do but have to figure out a few things for yourself. The cooktop is not unattractive, the top blends smoothly into an aluminum colored frame that sort of tapers up. The controls are right up front and are touch sensitive. Display is LED underneath the dark glass. For test purposes I put some water in a pan and plugged in the cooktop. It lit up with an “L” on the display which I guess means that the surface is cool enough to touch. After it is powered on you use the “Function” button to activate da heet. Da heet is selectable between wattage and temperature in degrees F. It defaults to a high wattage; if you change it to temperature it goes to like 460-something degrees. Using the “-” button I lowered the display temperature to 212, which according to Mr. Rozkuska’s science class is what you want to boil water. Then I waited. The pan heated but after a while I was thinking to myself that it sure was taking a long time. Sure enough even though the display read “212F” the water was only around 160 or so and seemed to just sort of hang around there. The area around the pan remained at a moderate temperature, one of the neat things about an induction cooker.Next I hit the rocket booster button. The display lit up a bunch of lights and the water resumed its climb to boiling. So the takeaway for me was that the temperature display, like spicy food gas on a humid day, is not to be trusted. The cooker was very quiet and next we cooked up a little bit of sausage to test my earlier gas theory. No, actually we made some pizzas. It cooked fine and cleanup afterwards was a breeze. All in all not a bad little piece of equipment. It does what it should, not ugly to look at and if not for the marginal instructions and inaccurate temperature display would be 5 stars. But 4 out of 5 isn’t too shabby, either.

    `Wattage control from 200W to 1800W

The media could not be loaded.

This review may read a little confusing but my video may help you understand what I’m trying to explain in text about this product. Here’s my text review: This unit lets you control wattage from 200W-1800W. Nice feature if your in a camper/RV, to be able to control an appliance’s wattage. The temperature control adjust the temp in 36*F increments, which is 20*Celsius increments. Temps range from 140*-464*F, and gives you 10 preset temp. levels. The cook circle is approximately 6.75″ and can accommodate 5″-10″ pots and pans. It heats up quickly and evenly and cools down quickly. The reason I’m taking a star is because the temperature increment jump is set up to be more Celsius friendly but reads in Fahrenheit. (Not sure why they mixed the two units of measurement instead of sticking with one or the other or making it to where you could choose one system or the other.) Most of my recipes calls for 25* Fahrenheit adjustments like 300*F, 325*, 350* and so on. The 36* temperature jump makes it a little less accurate to adjust the temp. to recipes in the US. This unit displays the temperature in Fahrenheit, but the 10 preset temperatures levels are odd and do not match up with the standard settings for Fahrenheit cooking that we use in the US. The preset temperature levels on this unit are 140*, 176*, 212*, 248*, 284*, 320*, 356*, 392*, 428*, 464*. So If your recipe calls for a setting of 375*F the closest you could get is ether 356*F or 392*F, Which of course is fine where stove top cooking is concerned because we use Low, medium and high when stove top cooking a lot of the time but I think if they made this unit’s temperatures start at 150*F instead of 140* and jumped in 25* or 50* increments, instead of 36* increments, this would match our measurement of temperature more accurately and make this unit more user friendly here in the states.

Loud, vibrated my cookware (which is induction ready), poor fit and finish

The size of this cooktop is very nice, it was just what I was looking for. However, the functionality as well as the fit and finish just isn’t there. Feels like a lower quality item overall as well. The first thing I noticed after plugging it in is that the fan is quite loud. I was expecting a purr based on other units I have seen in stores. After putting a pan on, there was a vibration with the pan that I couldn’t explain. I have no idea how induction works, but the pan I used never did that with another induction cooktop.I don’t have scientific evidence of this, but the heat seemed low for the setting. It didn’t seem to be very effective.Lastly, you know when you hold an item and just think that it’s fairly low quality…well, that’s how I felt with this cooktop.Note that I’m not a cooktop expert by any stretch. These are just my observations as a lay person. Regardless of the lower quality feel…if it had functioned as expected, I would have kept it. However, I have returned this item.

Solid build quality, pretty glass top

I am using this for the purposes of an extra burner, sometimes it can be nice when juggling too many dishes for a big family meal. This would also be a great travel and dorm room option. My main cooktop is a gas stove, so I am also excited to have the 9 year old do more cooking with this induction unit. Obviously your pan will still get hot, but the unit itself doesn’t get near as hot as everything on my gas stove does – so, in regards to working with kiddos, it is a bit safer. I can also see using it as a heat plate at the table for main dishes that otherwise cool too quickly. When in use at higher temps or for longer periods of time the fan is a bit noisy, but for low temps it’s not going to interfere with table conversation. As for “standard” performance, so far so good. Cook times are a bit slower than with my gas stove, but given the energy efficiency of induction units I am not surprised. Home cooked meals don’t tend to be a race where shaving seconds off is a big deal, so not really worried about that. I like that heat is controlled by a temperature setting, but the setting itself isn’t extremely precise. I get that there is a lot at play here – the temp of the pan, the temp of the food (liquid versus solid?), and then the temp the actual unit is putting out. So maybe I’m not judging fairly, but all the same I think using the temp as potential range is the best bet – I probably won’t be using this for precise candy baking of any type! The one “con”, so to speak, is size. This is my first burner of this type so my expectations may have been out of line, but I wasn’t expecting how thick it is – from the photos it looked rather svelte and thin, but in reality this burner has some chunk to it! Not a big deal, but if this is a travel item for you than maybe something to be aware of – check out the dimensions! The verdict? Nice build with the glass, very heavy weight and durable looking. Does a great job with cooking. If you’re new to induction, like I am, I think you’ll like it! If you are looking for a lightweight travel unit you’re going to have to spend a bit more, I would suspect – but other than that, solid two thumbs up!

    I was surprised

If you have never tried an induction burner, I would suggest that you do. I first used one over 15 years ago and it caused me to buy a full-sized induction stove. That stove lasted 10 years until one of its circuit boards blew and they were no longer making a replacement. I then bought a second induction stove. BTW, I also use a portable induction burner in my campervan which I run off of a solar generator and solar panels. In that situation, I’m using the power of the sun to cook my food! Why do I love induction? First, there is no flame or exposed element. Second, induction uses magnetic waves to directly heat the pot so controlling heat is as quick as using gas. Since the pot is heated directly you can regulate (turn up and down) the heat as quickly as using a gas range. Lastly, the surface of the “burner” cools down much quicker as any warmth is secondary from the hot pot that is sitting on it. By the way, Induction cookers are the most energy-efficient of all cooktops. How about this little burner? In many ways, it is similar to other burners in this price range. In several significant ways, it is better than many in this price range. How is it similar to other sub-one hundred dollar burners?-Fan noise is loud and very similar to other tabletop induction burners that I have used.-Controls are similar. You can control temp, time, or power level. I only use power level as using it is very similar to using a regular stove.-Size of the magnetic field is relatively small (see my flour on the bottom the pot photo). I have tested a number of these burners and they all have a relatively small “hot area.” This has never been a problem when I cook, but I’m a simple cook. When camping I make foods like eggs, grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes, and canned soup. For these items, I have not noticed a problem with significant uneven heat. However, if you are a gourmet cook you may want to invest in a more expensive burner that has a larger magnet. How is this burner better than similarly priced burners that I have tried?Style- This burner has a little style to it. The one that I’m currently using in my camper is a pretty ugly basic rectangle.Power- I have tested several of these burners that claim to be 1500-1800 watts and the ones that I tested were all only around 1000 watts when at full power. This includes the one that I use in my camper. I measured this unit at close to 1700 watts, which means that water will boil faster on this unit than on some similarly priced ones.Power control-Most units control the level of power by cycling on and off. On my camper unit levels 1-3 cycle 400 watts on and off and on levels 4-9 (it has 9 levels) it cycles 1000 watts (despite saying it is 1800 watts). This unit actually controls the power in incremental steps, so when it says that it is set on level three which is 600 watts it is actually using 600 watts. This won’t be very important for most, but it is important enough for me that I’m considering changing out my current burner for this one. Since my camper uses a solar generator it is much easier for me to manage my power if I know that a unit is using 600 watts consistently rather than 1000 watts intermittently. The bottom line is that this unit is consistent with other units at this price point when it comes to fan noise and small heating circles. However, it is significantly better than some 1800-watt units as it actually delivers almost 1800 watts (1700 watts) and it controls its power by using lower power levels rather than turning on and off a higher power level.I was pleasantly surprised by this unit.

    Precise, loud

This cooktop will hold a pan at 212 degrees, with little touches of intermittent energy. And, you can tell it to do this for exactly 20 minutes. This is FANTASTIC.The top is smooth, and easy to clean. The power cord is robust (though I wish the plug were flat). There is even a child safety lock, though the device has to already be on for this to work (it does keep curious hands from turning up the power).Nothing being perfect, the fan is LOUD (and it is apparently timer based, not temperature based, since it will go on even if there is no residual heat, and will stay off if you power cycle). My bigger complaint is that the temperature settings, in Fahrenheit, are: 140, 176, 212, 248, 284, 320, 356, 392, 428, and 464. A 36 degree jump doesn’t allow for enough precision, though I am happy that one of the choices is 212. If you had to press a button ten times to set the highest temperature this would make sense, but the wonderful knob solves this problem. I really hope the next iteration will have smaller jumps.

    Tricky but works well

The media could not be loaded.

Induction cooktop; requires you use cast iron or a pan with a magnetic base. It didn’t work with my stainless steel Cuisinart Chef’s classic pans.Heat settings are a little confusing there doesn’t appear to be a 1-9 option it is either by wattage or by temp in C/F (you push the function button to select which). Aside from the temp selection being quirky the unit also shows the surface temp as “L” even when the unit hasn’t been on. I was cooking around 1200w which seemed to be around medium.Booster button does full power for 1 min then returns to normal temp to get pans up to speed quicker.Works as expected heat wise just the watts/temp selection is a little quirky versus a 1-9 or low/medium/high type of scale.

A good, portable, induction one-burner but no safety certification

My wife and I have been using a 4-burner induction cooktop for over 10 years. We love it. But sometimes, we’ve needed an extra burner, and this unit pretty-much fills the bill.If you’re new to induction cooking, it’s responsive, like cooking with natural gas. It’s also energy-efficient, which is why you can have one- or even two-burner portable units running on a 110V outlet. Best of all, it works well with inexpensive steel/iron cookware. That brings us to the one caveat of induction cooking: if a magnet won’t stick to your pan, it won’t work on an induction burner. Happily, you’ll find the most inexpensive cookware is generally made of steel and will work great, but take a magnet with you when you go shopping. We tested our unit with a watt-meter and found the unit’s performance was dependent on the size of the pan. A six-inch diameter pan on high-heat drew 1320 watts while an eight-inch pan took 1700 watts. Using the 8-inch pan, it took 2:45 minutes to boil a pint of water. That’s not bad; a unit on our 220V built-in took 1:50 to perform the same task. Using a seven-inch pan on high-heat, the unit got 4 TBS of olive oil to 470°F in well under 30 seconds. Unhappily, the unit draws 3 watts when plugged-in but off.The fan is a bit loud. It’s tolerable in moderate use, but gets annoying in a 4-hr simmer. It starts when the unit is powered-on and auto-shuts-off one minute after the unit is turned off. We don’t understand the focus on watts/temperature in the display. Neither are very accurate. Frankly, just displaying 1-10 for power level would be more meaningful to most of us in the US.My one big concern: the unit doesn’t show any safety certification — no UL (USA), CE (EU), or even EMC badge. Not on the product itself, in the User Manual, on the packing box, or anywhere on-line. In this day and age, I find this inexcusable. Maybe it’s a packaging oversight, maybe the manufacturer forgot to get it tested, or maybe it was tested and failed safety certification. How are we to know? But without that certification, use at your own risk.

    Learning curve

This little cook top is amazing and does the job fast. It does take a little time to get use to because it heats up so fast. It is based off of temperature and not hi low options. It takes some getting used to with the temperatures and knowing what temp you need to use. All in all it is great and would highly recommend as a unique safe way to cook. It will only turn on if you have an all metal pan that a magnet will stick to otherwise it will not work.

    Not bad…

I have never used an induction cooktop before and I found this easy to use and get used to.I was able to cook whatever I wanted on it and I would say it warmed pans up and began cooking much quicker than my traditional electric cooktop. The only disadvantage that I saw was when boiling water, although the water boiled fine the boil I could get out of it would not roll as quickly as my electric cooktop because the dedicated cooktop has more power behind it.I found the controls easy to use and they were accurate in actuation for me. I did find the temperature setting to be low and water would not boil when set to boiling temperature on the controls. I found myself just using the wattage settings anyway so that didn’t really bother me.My parents have an induction cooktop that they use for camping. It has a rounded design and physical buttons beneath a membrane. I checked theirs out to compare it to this one and I like this one a lot better. The larger flat rectangular glass surface felt more stable and was much easier to clean. I don’t see the buttons lasting on theirs whereas this one with the touch controls shouldn’t be a problem. The only ding I would give it is the lack of apparent UL listing. I wouldn’t leave it plugged in when not being used and use it with caution.Overall I am very happy with this cooktop and would probably recommend it if used carefully.

Good but not compatible with all cookware.

I’m trying to buy an infrared stove and came to this product. Bought it thought it was infrared but it was induction stove. It was really well with the right cookware or pots that can do induction, boils cold water to boiling water in 6-7mins. However it take at least 10-15 min to boil warm water to boiling hot water if you are not using the right pot. Over its a good product worth its price but not for me.

perfect hot plate for bachelor suites without stoves

This device took me a bit to adjust to using since I have used a stove top most of my life. That being said, it’s just a matter of knowing that 200 is low and then going up. It heats up fast. It cools down fast. I am thrilled how fast cooking hamburger in the cast iron pot goes. I bought two just in case I needed the extra for cooking holiday meals. but so far, I have only needed the one. It’s far better than hot plates. This thing does not hold the dirt as the stove did in the past. It wipes off easily. I don’t get the burning of the elements that I used to from a stove. The only thing I don’t like —- a safety feature is that it turns off when I have to drain the hamburger. I have adjusted to turning it off when I need to drain something and the turn it back on to brown the meat. I highly recommend this product over a hot plate. This is far better with better results and uses than a stove.

    This is great!

I really love this for a number of reasons. One being that it is induction. I feel like it’s safer for my little ones than the oven. My daughter and I use it for cooking class at home.

Bought it for our RV. Came in handy using it outside.

There is no OFF button to push so we had to unplug it after each use. It says it automatically shuts off but so far it hasn’t happen. Maybe wait longer?

    Works really well!

Purchased this for a week away at a cabin only equipped with a BBQ, made many things with it and it worked flawlessly. Water boiled very quickly as did melting butter for eggs. Can’t wait to take it camping next year. Would highly recommend. The fan is a little loud but not as loud as others claim.

Takes as much time as natural gas to boil water (at least 20 min at 1800W)

I thought it would be way faster for boiling water….

    Works well!

The only knock on this would be that you kinda do need to read directions. You can fumble through it, but it’s way easier if you take the time to read the directions. Beyond that, it looks good, is fairly light, and it performs well. Given the reputation for induction and how fast it can boil water, I had to test that first, and it does deliver! Roughly 2 minutes to boil water in a kettle. Works well with my cast iron. I’m not sure in that case it’s that much faster heating up, but what it does do is respond to temp changes you make quickly once it’s at temperature. I’m still kind of used to gas and seeing the flame and judging things that way, so using actual temperatures is something new. You do get that pinpoint control and, more importantly, repeatability once you get it down. I like it!

Pretty nice addition to the kitchen

I’ve been looking for a while at grabbing an additional burner for my kitchen. Sometimes, there’s not enough large burners for what I’m doing in the kitchen. Sometimes, I just don’t want to use the stove, or there’s an instance that I’m not at home and could utilize a cooking surface. This fits that bill perfectly. It’s very well made. It gets hot quickly. It preheats a skillet quickly. It boils water super fast.As other’s have mentioned – the temperature is not perfectly accurate, but having cooked in a kitchen for 30 years – the idea that I’d have a perfect temp on a burner is a foreign concept to me anyway. It’s close enough for me. But – it’s a downside if that’s what you really need.I’m happy with it – it serves it’s purpose in my home.

Fast heating, great control of heat settings, easy to clean up

I have had a gas range in my home for the last 29 years. I recently bought my first induction burner for use at the lake on the dock. I loved it so much that I just ordered this one to keep at home. Induction cooking has all the benefits of cooking with gas but is even easier to clean up. It’s summer time here in Oklahoma and I think the induction burner puts a lot less heat into the room than the gas range does. This induction burner works great. I was able to bring my largest stock pot full of water to a rolling boil in about 15 minutes. I especially like that the heat settings can be viewed as watts of power or an approximate temperature setting. The controls feel very premium. No plastic films or spongy buttons, just touch the glass to turn it on or off and to make temperature changes. There is a timer that will automatically turn the burner off at the end of the specified time. The whole unit just works great! Induction cooking does require the correct cookware so be aware that some pots won’t work with induction. I would definitely recommend this burner if you want to give induction cooking a try.

    Best invention ever

I got this for my daughter. We have one and love it. This one has amazing controls, even heat, and true induction. It is definitely an upgrade from our older one. It’s sturdy and nicely built. I love using the portable one instead of the regular stove as it dont heat up the house as much. It gets water boiling a lot quicker. It’s light enough you can store it. It’s nice enough you can keep it out on your counter (what we do).Easy to use. Easy to clean. Love it!

    Heats things FAST!

For pans that are rated for induction, this thing works fantastic. I put the pan on it, turned it on, turned around to pick up a couple hot dogs, and when I put them on, they were immediately sizzling. Be aware that not all pans will work, they need an iron or steel core. I have some lovely pure stainless pans, and they don’t heat at all.
