Amazing little scanner
Purchased this for a week long business trip where I knew I was going to need to scan client material almost constantly. It was nicely portable for the trip through the multiple airports and completely plug and play. The image settings were completely adjustable and made those items needing to be scanned in color very detailed and easily readable. I am home now and think that my flatbed scanner may be going the way of the dinosaurs!

Portable but slow and multi feeds
I bought this scanner to be able to scan receipts on the go. It is extremely portable however, the scanner is slow… I didn’t realize how slow 12 ppm really is. On top of that, the scanner grabs a second page 1/4 into the previous page scanning so I had to delete and rescan quite a few pages. At first I thought it was because it was “receipt” paper but it also does it on standard Letter size paper. The scanning quality is good but the hassle of having to stop and re-scan multiple times became super tedious. I’m considering purchasing a desktop scanner. I wish I had figured it sooner so I could return it and put the money towards a different model.

Part of my mobile setup
I’m only home 8 days a month if I am lucky. All that paperwork I do while I am traveling has to be submitted with regularity and hotel “business centers” just aren’t great. I have this Canon imageFORMULA R10 Portable Document Scanner in my work truck. I built a custom “desk” for my truck that takes up my front passenger seat. It extends out to over my lap providing me enough room for my Macbook Pro and this scanner. My peers spend hours a week doing paperwork because they let it accumulate. I get the job done and harness that “let’s get this over with” energy to finish my paperwork. Then boom, scanned, e-mailed and thrown aggressively into my trash.Honestly I never thought I would take time out of my day to write a review for a scanner but this little guy has actually had quite the quality of life improvement for me. I’m so pleased that I would even consider looking into buying a Canon printer for my house again.

Perfect Scanner
DISCLAIMER: I have a good bit of tech knowledge. So somethings that were easy for me to get might not be easy for others. This was perfect for what I needed. Which was scanning notepaper designs and ideas. It is very easy to use and works great. My only dislike is the software could use for a UI update. And that (I have only had it do this once) it graps 2 papers at once. (I included this because I saw others stating it also as a problem).

Easy to use
Easy software. Super easy to use. Sometimes it’s really hard to scan receipts on it though. It gets caught in it and doesn’t dectect them easy. Which is what I got it mostly for. Other than that it’s a really good machine.

It’s a decent product, but not the best.
I wanted to love this. My employer has ScanSnap, however, it’s expensive and I didn’t want to pay that for my home office. This printer is decent, however, the feed mechanism could use some work. It says it has a 20 page feeder, however, you have to monitor it to make sure it feeds. It usually needs a little help guiding the next page. Sometimes when feeding the next page, it feeds 2 pages. Then, you have to scan the whole document again.I’m not thrilled with the way it saves documents. I wish there was a prompt to allow you to choose a path and filename AFTER you scan it. Nope. You have to select a path and a file name before you scan it.If you don’t mind having to babysit the feed mechanism, this can be a great economical scanner for you.

Functional Portable Scanner With Some Quirks
The media could not be loaded.
The scanner is so portable! I love how small this is, definitely one of the highlights. When it opens up, it still doesn’t take up a lot of space, and having a feed tray with paper guides is a nice touch.Minimal items in the box, which is to be expected for a portable scanner, pretty much the scanner, a micro usb to usb cable to connect and power, and instruction guide. I did wish there was a carrying bag or case for it, seeing as how it’s a portable scanner, you would want to have something to carry it around with. The micro usb connection portion on the scanner is recessed, and has a bit of a gap between the shell and connector, I am concern over time if the connector will get bent and pushed further in, but so far there hasn’t been any issues. Connecting the micro usb feels a bit mushy though, doesn’t feel solid or fully in contact when fully seated.Once connected to a pc, flipping open the tray automatically turns on the scanner, and the scanner folder automatically pops up (Windows). I love the built-in software, it’s more than enough settings and options for my needs. No additional driver installation needed. The scanner did automatically check for firmware updates, and after a somewhat quick update, it was up and running.Scanning documents were pretty easy after setting the options to my needs, setting the dpi higher than automatic, for example the maximum 600 dpi, did slow down the scanning process, as expected, higher quality, slower scan. Leaving it on automatic was more than enough for my needs, and my scans came out great. Love that this model is a double-sided scanner, no need to re-feed the sheets to scan the other side.A complaint though, it seems to struggle when automatically grabbing the sheets to scan, in particular single sheets. When you hit the scan button, you can hear the scanner activate its roller to catch the sheet, but it doesn’t usually catch the sheet initially, you can hear it ramp up the roller to try to catch it again. There been more than a few times that I notice it did not catch the sheet, and would require either retrying to hope it catches it, or just manually pushing the sheet down to help the scanner catch the sheet. I did notice that with multiple sheets, it didn’t miss the catch that often, but you do hear it ramp up the roller when it misses the initial attempt.Overall, I do enjoy this double-sided scanner, it’s easy to use and super portable. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a super compact scanner that can be set up relatively quickly.

This scanner has design flaw
This scanner can scan document as well as credit card. So it has roller in 2 places. center roller is big one and used to pick up documents. It has another rule in right side for credit card. When scanning document, both rollers are pulling papers. As it has roller in right side, it picks up right side more than left side, which tilts paper. It never scan papers in right angle due to this issue.

Best scanner ever
This is the best scanner ever! I am a Notary Public/Signing Agent and travel all the time. I am required most of the time to scan back mortgage loan documents and this has made my life so much easier. There is nothing to download. It’s like a plug and play. You plug in it via usb and it pops up on your laptop or whatever you are using, extremely easy interface to set up how and where to scan your papers to, and it scans crystal clear. This scans clearer than both my large printer/scanners I have at home. You can also put in about 10 pages at once. If you put in any more than that though, I have found it will grab 2 or 3 pages at a time and pull it through. This is worth the money for sure!!

Not wireless
This was a super handy scanner, worked amazing. Ran double sided scans through in seconds. However, it wasn’t wireless, and it had to be plugged into a laptop with a USB port. Would not work with my iPad or my laptop without a USB port, or my cell phone. And since it wasn’t wireless, that didn’t work. Possibly there are cables out there that would’ve allowed me to connect it to my iPad, etc., but I didn’t want to buy a bunch of cables.

Did what I wanted
The scanner was a breeze to set up. I have a lot of old photocopies of articles I want to scan, so I can then toss the paper. After doing a dozen or so, I observed the folliwing: it doesn’t seem to mind that I have pulled out staples. It does occasionally put through 2 pages at once. The only time it was an issue was when I scanned something that had been folded long ago. However you can add pages to the scan, so I just put them through again. You get a preview of the output and can drag and drop the “last” page to the correct location. It will detect the back side as a page if there’s any marking or streaking. I got a few false pages from a very old photocopy which must have smeared a little. I don’t care especially about speed, it seemed okay. I did watch it, so I saw the skipping when it happened. It did not do the wash or make my lunch.

Great for WFH
I have a HP Envy that is supposed to scan and print. The scan stopped working after a year! So I needed a quick solution for my problem. This solved it. So easy to install and connect to my PC. So far it’s been good to me, I’ve only been using it for a few months and I have not seen or encountered any issues. The scan quality is pretty good too. When you are doing multiple sheets of scanning, I recommend keeping an eye on it. I’ve done at most 10 pages in one scan. You just have to keep watch so when the pages get picked up to scan, that it is not getting caught. I’ve never have a problem with 1-3 pages of scanning, but any more, you have to just keep watch. I like it for its’ compact size and ease of install and use.

Love this!! Highly recommend
I don’t normally write reviews and after some disappointments ordering stuff from Amazon, I didn’t really expect too much of this scanner. However! It really exceeded my expectations! It’s user friendly, the software was easy to use, and the quality is very nice too! I use it to scan paper work for my tax return and other random documents. You can even use it to scan a card or Driver s License that type of stuff. And the qualify of the scanner feels and looks nice. I highly recommend to people who needs a quick and easy way to scan small amount of paper work at home. The only small flaw I discovered so far is that if you want to scan several sheets of paper that says came in the mail and was folded together in the envelope , the machine canner would take in them all together at the same time cause it’s hard to tell they are separate papers.

Easy to use, portable, light weight, efficient.
We wanted a stand alone scanner to reduce all of our documents. We didn’t do a ton of research, but went with this version since it was portable, no software install, and had pretty solid reviews. Plus, it wasn’t as expensive as some of the others, which was a plus.Overall, VERY happy with this scanner. Took it out of the box, plugged it in, and started scanning! It’s pretty fast, and the software is very easy to use.PROs:- Right out of the box use- Slim, lightweight, portable- Scans pretty quick- Color and Black/White Scans- Auto Duplex- It can automatically identify if it’s a 2-pg document without having to change a setting.**CONs:- My USB cable connection is “loose” and very easily becomes disconnected with my computer, so I have to be careful not to bump or move my computer.- 1-pg docs don’t always feed, so you have to “manually” push it through initially.- Some pages get “stuck” together, but I assume this would happen with most feeders. Better than manually feeding each page!

I like the product
It works quite well. Scans both sides, easy to set up and good quality scan. There are however two problems. The automatic feed mechanism does not catch on from time to time and the top of the paper needs to be tapped for it to engage. At times it will catch multiple sheets at the same time. The second is after clearing a paper jam, it needs to be disconnected from the laptop and started again or else it keeps on saying there is no paper input.Other than this I like the unit and it serves my purpose. I am still not sure whether an expensive CANON model will solve these two problems.

Works better than expected
I was hesitant because this was one of the cheaper scanners, but it turned out perfect. Took seconds to set up and seems to scan well fairly quick. After a number of scans, it started to make a small crease on the leader edge of each sheet of paper. Unclear why, but it is a little annoying and does show up on the scan.

Problems with scanning multiple pages
I bought this because, while I have a dedicated scanner and a printer that scans, each only scans one side of one page at a time and takes a while to do it, which makes scanning pictures and multi-page documents a chore. While this scanner is faster and easier to use, it seems to have trouble scanning multiple pages. The instructions say to fan the pages to keep them from sticking together and stagger the pages instead of tapping them down into a neat pile. Fanning them is easy enough but trying to stagger them and then feeding them into the scanner is not. It often sucks multiple pages through at the same time, which sometimes causes it to jam, or doesn’t detect any paper in the feeder. It is helpful, however, that it lets you continue scanning pages until your document is complete, meaning that you could theoretically scan a 100 page document into one PDF file if you did it in chunks. Despite the occasional headaches caused by having to scan one or just a few pages at a time and clear paper jams, which is very easy to do, I’ll keep this scanner because it wasn’t too expensive for what it is and it’s much faster and easier to use than my other options.

Small enough to fit on the go. I don’t remember if I had to install software for this product to work on my laptop, but I’ve scanned documents in so far. Works Fantastically Well
I have a lot of different documents I have to scan, many of them 2-sided. I love this scanner because it has saved me so much time. It scans both sides of a document simultaneously and quickly. The scanned files are very sharp. Setup is easy. There is no software download as it is part of the scanner. This is definitely the best investment I have ever made on a scanner. I highly recommend this scanner for its easy of use; its many capabilities; and the quality of the scanned documents. It is the only scanner I use. And, it’s portable.

Outstanding for scanning lots of things quickly
I bought this scanner to scan 40 years of documents from my Dad’s desk drawers and closets so I could have them available online. This scanner made reasonably short work of the task and created readable and OCR’d documents which made them searchable.Overall I love this scanner and will use it for scanning receipts and such in the future. Deducted a star for the cons, most notably the software being stored on the device is kinda weird, and it can require a bit of care when scanning docs that were previously stapled or are > 10 pages.Pros- With a few exceptions the scanner is very easy to set up and use.- Scans both sides of the page at once- Has a card slot for plastic cards (credit cards, loyalty cards, ID, etc.)- Scans quickly, especially in black and white- Fixes pages that weren’t fed straight- Very portableCons- Scanning software and settings are stored in the device which means it’s not accessible from other apps- Can be finicky with pages that were stapled- Single pages/business cards sometimes need to be nudged into the scanner- Can’t edit the PDFs after they are saved (i.e. once the PDF is stored on the hard drive pages can’t be rotated or rearranged).

Feed tray is unreliable to take only one page through at a time
Pros: Easy setup and scan quality is decent. Very small, lightweight, and portable when closed up. I love that it uses just one USB cord to connect to the computer which also provides power. Not having a separate power cable is a big plus.Cons: The feed tray seems utterly unreliable to handle more than one piece of paper at a time and not “double feed”. Trying to scan a 20 page document is an exercise in futility if trying to do multiple pages at once in the feed tray.Would I buy again? Eh, maybe. If I could find something that was similar size and portability that had a reliable capability to put more than just a single page at a time into the tray, I would happily pay an extra chunk of change for that. But there really isn’t much like that on the market and so for truly portable scanning in a very small package, it’s either this or nothing right now. And this does beat out having nothing because I do have times where portable scanning is a necessity for me.p.s. The feed tray also likes to twist the paper a bit. This is a kink that can be worked out, but you need to test it a few times. Don’t start with the first thing you scan being a paper that you can’t end up having get creases in it. I consider this to be a non-factor in my rating because you can work this out with just a bit of practice and it’s more of a warning to practice before use on an important document.

Almost perfect. Troubleshoot for Mac
Small, portable. Easy to use. Perfect for quick scanning. Relatively accurate if you don’t overload it too much. Wicked Fast setup. BUT with wire connection issues with Mac adapter. And multi-page scanning doesn’t always work as one continuous document. It can fail, I could pick up where I left off if I don’t cancel but annoying. This one is lotto ticket. Not a big deal for some but I need that feature to work smoother.MAC TROUBLESHOOTING: I have a macbook air 2019 and yesterday the scanner stopped recognizing the scan utility which is not downloaded onto the computer. Honestly, I really liked that part previous to this because it meant quicker connection and made for light work on my HD space. BUT yesterday flat out stopped recognizing the native driver/ utility program. Said no scanner could be found, which also meant I couldn’t update the utility. I couldn’t understand what went wrong. On the Canon site there were no fixes listed other than to check the USB is not connected to an adapter. So after reading a review on here it was a firewall. Struck out. Then reading that it was the third party toggle and a known issue, I switched multiple mac adapter combinations around. Nothing worked. It finally dawned on me it was probably the USB end of the wire failing to connect to the female USB to USB-C Mac adapter. Talk about 1st world aggravation over the dumbest and simplest thing ever. To test my theory. Stole my headphone wires that are like 3 years old and that worked but this wire didn’t. Go effing figure. It wasn’t the adapter at all. I tried all of them again and voila. Worked, no matter what combo I used. So if you have a Mac, Switch the damn wire, not the adapter. Problem Solved, for now. Hope it doesn’t screw up again. No one has time to solve something this simple that should be on the website troubleshooting section!

Almost great but …
I bought this unit for it’s ability to replace my old imageClass MF4150 all in one printer (since it can’t do duplex scanning) and it is soooo small. I have been able to compare it to a Brother ADS-3300W (very good scan speed at duplex 600 dpi, very expensive, good quality scans, but had the most double feeds) and Epson ES-200 (fastest scan speed at duplex 600 dpi but a few software hang-ups). The fact that you don’t have to download software to use this Canon unit is great. Further, it the software had the best bleed through removal and gave almost great scans except the letters were very soft. The only downsides are when you wen to 600 dpi or asked it to do letter enhancement, it was very, very slow. Since I have a stack of documents that have to be archived, it is this slowness of scans that is the killer for me. IF you are a road warrior or space constrained and don’t have to dig out, it would be a great scanner especially when you consider I bought the open box (absolutely nothing wrong with it) and it is less than half the price of the Epson and 1/3 price of the Brother.Edited 8/15: I have also had a chance to compare it to the Canon imageClass MF455dw. This almost $300 all in one printer-scanner doesn’t have nearly as good of software as the software in this R10. The $300 MF455dw doesn’t allow you to do text enhancement or adjust any settings OTHER than dpi in your scans. As a matter of fact, this new software for the MF455dw is terrible compared to the software that came with the 15 year old MF4150. I sooooooo wish this imageFORMULA R10 was faster. Give us the same software interface across all devices Canon. Let a user adjust things on their own!

Set scanners…. to what setting you need!!!
I’d take a pic, but they have a good one. I’d show you what we scanned, but most of it is legal documents, old taxes, old pics for family history, bills, health documents and all kinds of stuff like that…… Everything that you need one of these for!!!!!!One of the biggest things I can say is….. if you pay taxes, get one….. take an afternoon or a snow day or rainy day …. and scan all of your back years of documents, put them in the cloud, on disc, and thus drives and put them in safe places and some not at your house….then SHRED or burn all the originals…. and save yourself some space. Course, I’m not a tax advisor or a lawyer so you do what you want with all of that. What you can do is scan all the old photos, and give the originals away in new frames at holidays, or make collages with them, mini scrap books…make some weekends of it…. then give them away and no one will give the same gift and you have helped spread the past and saved it!!!!! Afterwards, treat yourself to a good dish or drink or what ever…… You earned it!!!! and you can get rid of some of your X-pics, but keep a back up incase of black mail?????Again, not a lawyer or court official or anything like that…… suggestions do not hold any merit. Enjoy your scanning ways……😁😉👍

Perfect for document scanning without taking a lot of space
I gave up on “all-in-one” printers years ago and have made due without a scanner for a long time. Recently, life events made scanning a more regular task, and I couldn’t just take a doc to work now and then. I needed a scanner at my home. I love this because it’s just about double the size of a 3-hole punch, when it’s all folded in on itself. It fits nicely in a drawer or in a narrow cabinet, and can be quickly set up when needed. I originally was looking for something that would work wirelessly, but because it is so portable, I don’t mind the cord. I have it set up so the application to scan opens automatically on my computer when it gets plugged in. I also appreciate that it doesn’t require a second power source — just the wire to the computer is needed. The software that opens once you scan is great. It allows you to add more pages or delete pages before saving. The location and naming settings are a bit odd – I’d like that to be smoother – but I’ll take the ability to quickly edit and not automatically make everything a PDF as a win.

Lightweight and portable
I do like this scanner; however, it does NOT like alternative types of paper when scanning. It is easy to use and scans copy paper easily and accurately; however, I purchased this to also be able to scan receipts in and unless they are taped to a piece of paper they get stuck and end up looking like an accordion.

It’s really good for a small, portable scanner
Small, easy to use and install. Good looking scans. I really like it for smaller scanning jobs. Handles more than 20 pages at a time (but probably not much more than that.). Medium speed. Not super fast, but not too slow. Overall, I really like it for at home, scanning pages here and there.

Best gift I have given myself in a long time!
I love this machine! I used to use the NeatDesk until they went to the ” cloud” to store everything and lost years of data. This simple scanner has its software built in. You just plug it into the computer and open up the file and begin scanning. It works very well and the software is easy to use. The one down side is that it isn’t very good at scanning multiple sheets at once. It grabs all the sheets and feeds them in together. Not a big deal when scanning my bills or invoices. Overall, it has been a great purchase.

Good scanner with one flaw
This is great scanner if you’re looking to scan a few pages at a time. I loved that it scans both sides at the same time. The scanner is compact and very easy to use. However, as some other reviewers have mentioned the scanner will often grab more than one page at the time when scanning 5+ pages (even after fanning the pages). This can be an issue if you’re not paying attention and miss some pages. My goal was to scan everything into my computer and shred a bunch of documents that I didn’t want to store physically. I decided to return it because I didn’t want to accidently miss out on important documents when scanning more than one page at a time. Also, make sure to install the newest updates when you first launch the scanner. If you don’t the scanner will not be calibrated and will not scan correctly.

Works great, software a little awkward
I replaced by wonderful old Fuji scanner bc they no longer supported the new Mac OS versions. I’m slightly regretting not buying another Fuji, but didn’t want to spend the $ at this time and I like the handiness of this little portable.I like that it powers from the USB, and the fold-out action of setting it up is pretty cool. It works great as a scanner, though it’s hard to put a lot of documents through very quickly of course (it’s not a desktop scanner). You also can’t scan long (multi-page, I don’t know the max paper length) documents. Fits in my computer travel case and is super-light.The software unfortunately makes it difficult to quickly organize your scans – at least the way I do it, which is heading each file with the date, then name and putting it in the appropriate folder. It doesn’t remember your last settings so you have to go through the menu tree each time. The process of renaming everything and selecting the same folder for the 5th time etc gets old.So 6 stars for the hardware (as an excellent, efficient portable device) and 3-4 for the software. I’d buy it again, but will probably keep this for travel and get another Fuji at some point if their software reviews look good

Very Unreliable
I have been using this scanner for almost 5 months now and I wish I could return it. While it is technically easy to use, I’ve found it to be very unreliable in both scanning, and connecting to my computer. There are no drivers to install, and no on/off switch. Basically you plug in the USB cable and when you unfold the machine to open it, the computer recognizes it and opens a folder with the scanning software. The issue is that even though I have this plugged in to a docking station for my laptop, often times if my laptop goes to sleep, or I unplug the laptop then plug it back in, the power light on the scanner will blink and the laptop won’t recognize it. When you press the scan button, it’s supposed to automatically pop up the software but this is very hit or miss. In order to get it to reconnect, since there is no on/off switch I either have to unplug the USB cable, which doesn’t always work because the scanner stays “on” for some reason, or close the scanner and reopen it which is annoying because there are several parts of it you have to fold up. When you’re scanning, often times the feeder doesn’t grab the paper and pull it through, so you have to give it a little nudge. And even more often if you put a small stack of paper in it, it will pull the whole stack through, or several pages at a time. Which means you have to cancel and discard that scan and start over again. However, when it scans, images are and PDF are clear and there’s a ton of detail, plus the options in the software are easy to setup. That’s why I originally decided to keep it. But I have probably fought with this more than I’ve actually scanned with it. If I had to do it again I would choose a different scanner. This one is not worth it.

Worth the price.
When I bought this item, it was little more expensive than what it shows today but the product works great. Easy installation to your computer and portable. Easy storage and cleaning too. I love that I can convert all my paper stack to scanned copies. This scanned can scan up to 20 papers and I have tried it and works just as advertised. Very few times I have had two papers merge during scanning. But you can always rescan without losing other scanned pages. Easy save options too. And the best part, it scans double sided!

so much better than i expected
So i had a neat scanner for a long time and i liked the size but not the quality of the scanning nor the size of the files it produced… so i thought i would check into what was new out there…. i got my scanner today and in color the files are small and so clear. i love the way it does its thing. AND no more crooked pages. it is a little bigger than some other scanners i have seen but its still small enough to be packed around without a problem and super light weight. i love this thing!!!

Almost perfect – just wish it could connect wirelessly!
Love the size and simplicity of this device – just plug it in and it’s ready to go! This is great for my home office and to take on the go for on-site meetings. I have loved being able to scan multiple pages with little to no effort, and the card reader has been great for my digital contacts. Using it as a portable scanner, I wish it was wireless so I didn’t have to carry the USB and an adapter, but otherwise it is a great device. Lightweight and super light!

Perfect for working from home!
I am often asked to sign something, and send it back as a pdf – but when WFH, that wasn’t possible. So I bought this, received it THE NEXT DAY, and found it amazingly easy to use! Instructions are simple. I brought it into the office, thinking I might need help, but I didn’t! This is a great, lightweight solution to document scanning.

Plays well with M1 Mac Mini
Once I plugged this in to my Mac Mini (M1) chip, a popup indicated an update was required to work with an M1 computer. After update was completed, there was software “CaptureOnTouch Lite” that was installed on the Mac. Then I just loaded max of 20 pages, and selected my options in the software app, then [SCAN] it quickly scanned (both sides at once) all the documents flawlessly. Then it gives you the option to [SCAN MORE PAGES] so that if you have a document more than 20 pages, it will add them to your first scan so you end up with just 1 PDF in the end. It is very small, light, and portable. At one point after my computer had entered sleep mode, and I then tried to scan additional documents it said “DRIVER NOT FOUND” – I rebooted the Mac and it was back to scanning documents again. Duplex scanning and the simplicity of the scanning interface (and high quality scans) make this a sure fire winner. Addendum: I plug the scanner into a USB A port on my Mac Mini – I have not tried it on a USB hub, but would suspect it’d be less reliable through a hub.

Easy to use
Easy to use, no set up required, double sided scanning without having to manually flip the paper, and all in all a great value for the price.

Works great. Easy setup
NO SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD IS REQUIRED! It’s so easy to use and install. After having so many glitches with scanners with sketchy software downloads that stall this was a complete breath of fresh air
