Very good scanner — fast
The only reason I gave fewer stars for tech support was because there are a confusing selection of printer/scanner drivers to download from the internet. The instructions were a bit scant on where to find the correct drivers to download, but I found them eventually. This scanner is very fast and very user-friendly once it’s up and running!

Feeding Issues
I just bought this scanner because I have a big project that needs to be done quickly. I immediately saw it was feeding multiple pages through at once so it’s not capturing everything. I put through a message to Brother support but since it is Saturday, I won’t get a response for 1-3 business days. I bought it specifically because it’s high speed and can handle 40 pages a minute but it can’t scan 4 pages without screwing up. I will update this when I hear back but I have 40 boxes and bins of papers to scan in 2 weeks and this is messing me up! Would not recommend Brother! Update: after speaking with Brother support through chat (which is how they recommended as best way to resolve the problem) I don’t think we were speaking with a live person (kept duplicating phrases), they had no resolution for my problem. Brother scanners are a piece of sh**!

Fine basic sheetfeed scanner…
Brother makes quality sheetfeed scanners. They all have 600×600 max resolution (higher with software interpolation, but if you need higher resolution than 600×600 you’ll want either higher hardware resolution or something like OnOne’s software to increase your image resolution in Lightroom or Photoshop). Most desktop sheetfeed scanners top out at 600×600, including even Epson’s FastFoto scanners which are specifically made for scanning photographs in high quality. There is some differentiation between scanners in ability to handle paper, but despite owning Fujitsu, Canon and Epson desktop scanners similar to this one, I have noticed no differences between the four big brands. Nor does one brand have overwhelmingly better scanning software than another. If you are seeking a photo sheetfeed scanner, Epson’s FastFoto scanner has significantly better photo scanning software than my other sheetfeeed scanners. This is a fine scanner. It handles and scans your documents well and produces good scans. This 3100 version is an upgrade of the former Brother 2200 scanner with a few changes, including doubled daily duty cycle of 6,000 pages versus 3,000 with the 2200.The 3100 actually has a lower duplex scan speed than the 2200–40 ppm versus 70. The software for the 3100 automates a number of scan correction features such as hole punch removal and reverse-page bleed through removal. Kofax Windows PaperPort OCR software is included with both scanners along with Presto Page Manager OCR for Macs. Finally, there is a new USB port for scanning to a thumb drive on both new models, a feature lacking on the 2200 and 2700 models.OK. Previously, Brother’s entry level sheetfeed scanners were the 2200 and the 2700 which now appear to be in the process of being replaced by the very similar 3100 and 3300 models. As with the 2200 and 2700 models, this 3100 scanner is basically the same as the 3300 with the exception of the 3300 having a touch LCD screen with preset buttons that can be defined for one-step sending of scans AND the 3300 having ethernet and wifi connectivity which the 3100 lacks. If you are happy with USB connection between the scanner and your computer, get this scanner. If you want remote operation, or you want to scan to a phone or tablet, get the 3300 which not only has wifi, but with its preset buttons on the LCD screen permits easier operation away from your computer. Finally, you will likely want to consider other software than that provided with the scanner if you are seriously into either photos or OCR. I have OmniPage for OCR and LIghtroom/Photoshop for photos.

Easy to use. Prints 2 sides in 1 pass in color
The media could not be loaded.
Brother ADS-3100 High-Speed Desktop Scanner | Compact with Scan Speeds of Up to 40ppmThis is the 2nd sheet fed scanner i recently received. The first, another brand, was just awful. Couldnt get the software to work. Couldnt get it to scan. It was a miserable frustrating experience. So i was leary and not terribly optimistic while digging in with the ads-3100.But, i will tell you what. Night and day difference. Biggest issue is there’s three EULAs you have to agree to. Nonetheless it went like this: I didn’t even read the manual I got to page 2 it gave the web address for the drivers and software. Loaded the software and plugged the scanner in. Selected the program. Put papers in the scanner feeder. Pressed scan. And it worked. It just worked. So already i was pretty excited not to have another less than optimal scenario. But as i was looking at the scans on my computer screen I noticed a couple pages that were the back pages to some stuff. And I was like hmm that’s strange so I look through the papers that I ran through the machine and sure enough some had print on both sides I don’t remember the printer doing like a flipperoo where it does one side then flips it to do the other side like a printer when it prints 2 sides. so then I ran another page with text on both sides. And sure enough both sides showed up on the computer screen and it only went through once. I audibly gasped and said wow so loud. I woke the dogs. But it was black and white so then I thought hmm maybe I should run some color sheets through. And sure enough color sheets showed up on my computer screen. I have to be honest I was flat out amazed because it’s lightning fast it does both sides in one pass and it produces color scans. On top of which it’s tiny. The software is uncomplicated If you put your stuff in upside down you can flip it on the screen, and then you can send it out of the software to wherever you want to store it –outstanding! Very pleased.Easy to recommend.

Brother Iprint&scan
Brother Iprin&Scan, problem after a 1 page scan and saved document is fast and great. But when you exit the app and go back into Iprint&Scan software, when you launch the scan icon in the program, if you hit scan the program will hang until you rebot your system to get it to scan again. After troubleshooting the program I notice that you have to wait until the program says scanner is on line before you can scan, the problem the response time for it to put scanner on line is 30sec to a min. before scanner is ready this is poorley design software for a fast scanner and it takes 30 seconds or more for it to detect a usb scanner after every saved scan.

Worst Scanner Ever
The worst scanner that we’ve ever bought. Never works and always has an error showing. Thought it was the old computer and bought new ones, not for the scanner but was desperately needed. Thought that would clear things up and nothing has changed. It is a WASTE OF MONEY!! Buy anything but this piece of GARBAGE!!!

I do a lot of scanning on a flatbed scanner that sometimes works and sometimes misses pages. Once I hooked this up my work life changed!! I am able to scan everything at once and quickly. I am impressed and happy with this scanner.

Super fast scanner
This is the perfect compact scanner for my small space. I don’t scan a large amount of documents often, but this scanner works fast. It scanned front and back in very little time, and the auto feed makes life so much easier. It runs smooth, and the pages are clear

Superó mis expectativas
Me encantó, es fácil de usar y rápido, incluso ambas caras del papel de una sola pasada. Me encantaría que pudiera escanear papeles un poco más largos que un tamaño legal, pero considero que es una excelente compra.

Good scanner
This is a very good scanner, especially if you have no way of getting things scanned from your computer. Set up is fairly easy and the speed is more than adequate. I recommend this scanner to anyone in need of a stand alone scanner. Brother makes great products. We’ve had one of their fax/copier/scanners for years and it’s been great. We were having difficulty with scanning on it so we got this, but we were able to get it working again, so I’d say the combo fax/copier/scanner is better for us, but it is much larger and takes up a lot more space than this scanner only product.

Works exactly as hoped
At about six pounds and with a small footprint, this doesn’t take up much room in your office nor is it hard to move – though it’s a little bulky overall to be considered truly portable. The power cord seems adequately long and will work for most people. I did read all the instructions first, and found them to be clear and thorough. I was up and running in less than 10 minutes.I love that you can load a seriously thick stack of pages in the feeder and that they don’t even need to be the same size. It’s also a HUGE benefit that this scans both sides at once – although it takes a little longer to scan color documents and photos. (This is a big benefit over flatbed scanners.) I’ve not had any trouble at all with jams or crooked feeds – and it even handled a page with a staple that I’d forgotten to remove. But good scanning is only half the battle. What’s done with the file from that point on is what really makes a difference in how much more efficient this is going to make you. The scanner comes with access to some valuable pieces of software, available via download (only) after product registration. I’m a huge fan of Kofax PowerPort (included), and Bizcard and BR-receipts seem equally functional. This is what makes it possible to quickly download receipts into Quickbooks, business cards into Outlook, and so on.Okay, now the negatives… I wish I’d thought to look for the upgraded version that has WiFi access; this doesn’t, which means you need to use the supplied USB cable (5′ long). Not a problem if the scanner is parked near your computer, but a pain otherwise. The upgraded version also has a touchscreen which makes some processes a little more intuitive. One piece of paper telling you to load documents face down and top first would save new owners from having to do trial and error, and listing the available software downloads (with basic instructions) on that page would also speed things up. (The paper that does come with it telling you how to download BR-receipts sends you to a non-functional website.)This isn’t the fastest scanner on the planet, but it’s speedy enough for most purposes, it does a good job, and the software simplifies most processes and helps create high-quality scans. For the money, I don’t think you can get a better desktop scanner.

Nice Basic No-Frills Scanner
This is a nice basic scanner that is easy to use and does quick (up to 40ppm) duplex color scanning. This basic version has no wi-fi and must be attached to a PC via the included USB cable. It has a small footprint and weighs about 6 lbs.

Replaced a clunky expensive Scantron and the Brother ADS-3100 is great!
I needed a fast duplex scanner that would have better speed, imaging and reliability. This is it, and i’ve actually stopped using my old Scantron test scoring machine.

A WINNER of a scanner! I went from flatbed to heaven!
I love my new scanner! This bad boy can handle any amount of paper or photos, back to back, unlike my current flatbed scanners on the market, so now I finally can fully organize myself, and make my hubby a nice gift for Father’s Day, with our children’s photos. My old scanner is so slow that this is an absolute godsend.Scan pictures, scan receipts, scan important documents. There is no job that is too taxing for this heavy-duty machine to handle. It is a pricy machine. Quite pricy, BUT Brother’s quality can’t be matched. It’s a robust & well-made machine that SHOULD last us a lifetime. I’m not at all worried about it earning it’s price tag over more time.Definitely, NOT a whimpy machine! I can validate the cost of this machine, based on the quality & ease of use of it… therefore, the value IS there…..5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️*** I hope my review has been helpful 😊.***

A nice upgrade for me
I’ve been using my old ADS-1000w for several years, and it’s gotten a little long in the tooth (much like me). It served me well until recently, when it seems my new Mac Mini doesn’t play well with it. This 3100 model is larger, has greater paper-handling capacity, and seems noticeably faster. I sometimes have to scan a two- or three-hundred-page book for republication, and this machine (like my old 1000w) handles such jobs quite well. I never had any luck with paper feeders on the all-in-one printer-scanners, and even when they work tend to take their time. It’s remarkable how quickly this machine can scan both sides of sixty pages. I’ll admit that I haven’t had much luck with Brother printers, but their scanners are second to none.

Easy to use
This scanner was easy to set up and use which is important to me. The scan quality is great and I have had no misfeeds or jams yet. I have another of model these that has the WIFI and touch screen and those are nice additions. This scanner is close to my computer so WIFI is not an issue. I am pleased with this scanner and I can recommend it. 5 STARS

so easy to use
Brother ADS-3100 High-Speed Desktop Scanner is so easy to use. I’m not the most techie of people, usually my husband takes care of anything like this, but even I could set it up. It flies through papers and photos, recipes, receipts, and it’s so much easier to use than the giant flatbed printer. I can sit here with it and just scan and scan and start getting my paperwork under control
