Wonderful All In One monitor, Best price range for those specifications. Bought two of them

I am digital artist and bought two of this monitors. Really happy of the results. Was going to buy previous gen Asus pro art monitors (this model is the 3th gen) but this one beats them cause of 144hz refresh rate and 10bit color depth. don’t expect good speakers from monitor (if anyone interested). and screen is more reflective than I was expecting. Also I am using both of them side by side and panels are not so great from any viewing angle. It is my first experience with QHD 144hz monitor, and it is just amazing. packaging is such a lightweight and well secured slick box. I shipped in Georgia (the country) and it is nice packaging for me (no extra fees because of less weight and don’t takes big space in shipping container) I really recommend this monitor to everyone who needs a multipurpose monitor within budget. its good for single player gaming, for color accurate work (good for digital drawing and photo edit, games are just wonderful looking) and contrast is really good to watch films. image is very crisp. The best price range for those specifications.

    Fits My Needs

This is an oddly under-reviewed monitor, but perhaps it’s just too early in its lifecycle to have been picked up by RTINGS yet. However, I was willing to make the jump because I’ve been in the market for a pair of monitors that offer both good color representation and a high refresh rate. I’ve used exclusively Dell monitors for my entire life, but with the recently-released U2724D from Dell being even less-reviewed than this Asus model (and about 30% more expensive), I went for the ASUS PA278CGV.I tested this monitor with a Dell Latitude laptop (via HDMI), a 2018 Mac Mini (usb-c to displayport), and an M2 Max Macbook Pro (also usb-c to displayport). Out of the box, the picture to my very untrained eye looked perfect and required no fiddling except to adjust the resolution and refresh rate in both MacOS and Windows because they both defaulted to 1080p60hz (probably attempting to match my last monitors’ specifications). My second day with it, I realized on the MacOS side that the monitor was displaying impressively terrible local dimming, such that during a software update, the Apple logo on a black background lit up the middle third of the monitor. Dragging a file across a black desktop also showed 1/3 of the monitor illuminating at a time as the file moved. I turned off this “feature” via the “Dynamic Dimming” section in the monitor’s settings and I infinitely prefer things this way. I turned on FreeSync Premium, but that seems to make no difference.I don’t have a gaming PC at the moment, but playing Starbound via the M2 Max Macbook Pro was fine and gameplay appeared smooth thanks to the 144hz refresh rate. I purchased this monitor for office professional and design work, so the high refresh rate is only a true bonus inasmuch that it makes productivity tasks more pleasant to experience. The only other thing I can think to mention right now is that there is virtually no backlight bleed on my unit, nor are there any dead pixels (tested via EIZO online tool). If anything changes, I will go back and update this review because I really do think it’s a solid unit and should be getting more attention online.Edit: I have bought another one of these monitors so that I now have a pair, and they match in quality. I will probably hold onto them for a few years. I am a little peeved that I paid $375 for each, and I see the price is already down to $361, but what can you do.Also, I remembered that another reviewed pointed out that the screen flashes blue when it detects no input. This is true in that it does flash a bright blue just once for a few seconds when a computer goes to sleep, but for some reason it’s only via HDMI and not Displayport (I have not tested USB-C). Perhaps the other reviewer’s situation is different in some way, but this is hardly reason enough for me to return the monitors.

Something is very wrong with the USB hub… but I found a solution!

When I have the USB hub populated with my Logitech MX mouse/keyboard dongle (Logitech Bolt), webcam, and litra lights, there is a strange delay/lag/pause. Not sure if its the included cable or some inherent defect.Asus… did you do any testing or quality control? Why is the USB hub so bad? Can it be fixed in firmware?I found this workaround. Go into the menu, then “Settings” then “DisplayPort Stream” and then change it from the default “DisplayPort 1.4+USB 3.2” to just “DisplayPort 1.4”. This fixed the horrible lag and jumpy mouse issues.

Built in USB hub is wonky

I’m thinking about having my monitor replaced because devices plugged into the USB hub of my monitor will continue to get power but fail to deliver the inputs from my keyboard and mouse to my USB-C connected laptop.Multiple key presses from my keyboard are sometimes required before the appropriate letter appears on screen and I have to completely reconnect my mouse for any input, movement or click, to go through again.Powering my laptop through the USB-C works great and the image quality is very nice though.

Amazing monitor for gaming and productivity

I was first very skeptical buying this monitor as it had no reviews yet and I was afraid of receiving a damaged monitor from Amazon after reading reviews of monitors very similar to this one. All I can say was that it came in great condition, screen was excellent and no damages whatsoever. As for the monitor itself, I love it soo much. Amazing colours which is a must for me as I’m a photographer. It has various colour profiles like sRGB, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB. If you’re a video editor it also has Rec 709 and some other profiles. It runs very smoothly because it is a 144hz monitor. That’s an added bonus because I like to game and using this monitor is so smooth. The only downside I can say is that the actual stand itself takes up a good amount of space but that’s a given considering how you’re able to turn the monitor 90 degrees and swivel so a strong base is necessary. But if you’re using a vesa monitor mount then you don’t have to worry about that.Overall, it’s a beautifully designed monitor with great features. I’d recommend it to photo and video professionals needing good colours for editing who also like to game a little on the side.

Excellent monitor except for issues with macOS

The 2k resolution and 27″ screen size are perfect for my needs. However, if you are planning to use it with macOS, you will have to be careful how you interconnect the monitor with the computer (Mac mini M2 (2023) in my case). In the end, a USB-C cable proved to be the best option.I was not pleased with the ASUS ProArt technical support team (when I reported a problem they responded with a flood of email but, in my opinion, took no concrete steps to reproduce or troubleshoot the issue).

Good monitor with speaker except the annoying ‘Dynamic Dimming’ causes flicker

The monitor is great overall, equipped with basic speakers that are not clearly described in the details. However, the ‘Dynamic Dimming’ feature is relatively ineffective, as it tends to cause screen flickering in dark scenes. By default, it’s set to medium brightness, and as shown in the uploaded picture, you have the option to turn it off.

    Excellent All-purpose Monitor, but flawed

This is a great monitor for both work and gaming. It doesn’t have the best input latency, but it’s good enough for non-competitive gaming. It has a fast 144hz refresh rate as well as AMD FreeSync Premium. On the other hand, it has 90W usb c display alt for single cable solution.Colors are amazingly vibrant and accurate. I have to say that the contrast is very acceptable for IPS (coming from a VA panel). More than good enough for watching movies in the dark.I really appreciate how well the monitor was packed, with extra care to protect the screen). However, no visible backlight bleed at all, which is surprising for mid-tier IPS panel. I think being a ProArt monitor, the QA is better than normal. My first unit had very distracting IPS glow in the bottom right color (even noticeable during the day). Not a manufacturing defect, but something unavoidable with IPS technology. Also had a very strong burning smell when I used it for the first time. Thankfully, my second unit is near perfect. The only cons I can think of, are the terrible speakers and design choices. Sadly, the poor sound is not surprising for built-in speakers. The bottom bezel has a ruler design, which I guess is the signature of the ProArt monitors, but I’m not a fan of how it looks. Another annoying thing, is the screen will flash blue when there’s not connection detected. It can be very startling if you’re not prepared for it.I am quite happy with this monitor, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a multi-purpose monitor for both work and play. In this price range, I doubt you can find anything better.**update**So I ended up returning the second monitor, because I personally found the blue screen issue unbearable. I connect a Google tv with chromecast to the hdmi port, and having to deal with the blue screen every night after is not going to work for me. It’s a major design flaw for anyone using the hdmi ports…
