    It’s okay

This does play DVDs and is easy to hook up to a television. The quality isn’t as good as my name-brand DVD player, though. We tried the same DVD on the same television, so it’s not just because DVDs don’t have great resolution. This also won’t play a DVD-R disc with a movie file on it, which is disappointing because we were planning to watch some school concerts, which the videography company burned to DVD-R discs.

Need a Simple DVD Player? Consider This One!

My dad has an older DVD player that doesn’t even support HDMI output, so he asked me to research DVD players for him after I replaced his TV with a newer one with more HDMI ports. My DVD collection is quite limited, consisting mostly of movies that no one cares enough about to release on Blu-ray (since I’ve otherwise replaced my collection with Blu-rays), as well as some foreign movies that’ve seemingly been completely lost to time. This DVD player has performed just fine with all the DVDs I put into it, so I do believe its “region-free” claim is accurate from a compatibility standpoint. I also like how the remote for this DVD player is relatively simple compared to the remotes that come with a lot of other DVD or Blu-ray players. Sure, there’re still some features the remote enables that I have zero interest in, but their presence doesn’t seem to have negatively impacted the other functions on the remote in terms of placement or discoverability, so I wouldn’t feel bad handing my dad a remote like this and just expecting him to know how to get things working. If you haven’t upgraded most of your movie collection to Blu-rays, then I’d definitely suggest checking out this DVD player. If your DVD player is starting to dwindle in favor of newer formats, though, then I’d suggest looking into a cheap Blu-ray player, instead.

Works for Region 1 and 4 DVDs

I have a collection of region 4 (Australia) DVDs in additional to some US (region 1) DVDs. This inexpensive DVD player has no problem playing both regions. I haven’t tested region 2 (Japan) yet as I’ll have to dig some of those out of storage, but I will update when I do. This is a small DVD (not bluray) player that is also very lightweight. It hides behind my wall mounted TV in my bedroom quite easily. The remote is functional, but uses 2 AAA batteries. These days, remotes should be USB chargeable. Overall I am happy about this DVD player that lets me play out-of-date, older DVDs that I own from different regions.

Small, easy use, and works great!

Looking for a DVD player to rewatch some classics and stumbled on this one. The things that drew me to this particular model was first, a very small size. The surface area needed for this device is approximately 1/3 the total area of my old machine making it very easy to find a place to set and easy to store when not in use. The second was very simple, plug and play operation which included HDMI capability and cord. Out of the box, I was playing a DVD in less than five minutes. The remote takes two AAA batteries (not included), and appears to have every possible button option imaginable. There’s also a small display on the device which shows current status, and a timer when the source is playing. Also plays CDs as well.It does come with the old school audio/video connection cord if you have an older TV or tuner.Interestingly, all the cords or different lengths and my one knock against this product is the length of the power cord. The power cord only measured out at approximately 45 inches. Yet the HDMI measured approximately 56 inches while the audio/video was only 36 inches. Obviously, not a dealbreaker, but something to be mindful of depending on where this device will sit in proximity to power outlets, and the TV.

    Simple to use

This is a simple, compact DVD player that plays movie DVDs just fine. I have not tried to play other format DVDs or any media from a USB stick, but your older DVD discs with movies will play just fine. The picture quality via the HDMI cable is what you’d expect from a DVD which is closer to 720i HD than to 1080p Full HD. It claims to upscale to 1080p but the quality is not as good as a native 1080p such as Blu-ray.The remote is simple and easy to use. The buttons are quite rubbery which is nice to touch. If you’re looking for a decent DVD player with just the right amount of features, you won’t go wrong with this one.

Easy to hook up with HDMI cord

This value-priced DVD and CD player works great. It was easy to hook up to my flat-screen TV’s HDMI port with the included cable. The remote control is easy to use and all the buttons work. I especially like the small footprint of this unit (about 7×9 inches) as the piece of furniture my TV sits on does not have a lot of extra room. Also, being just 1.65 inches tall, the top of the player fits beneath the bottom edge of the TV, which is great. I don’t play a lot of CDs or DVDs anymore, but when I do I’m glad to have this small and effective unit to do that.

Works great – plays all my discs perfectly

I have a pretty massive collection of DVDs and some of them came from other regions. Years ago I had gotten some players that needed a “crack” to play discs from all regions. Problem is they just didn’t always read discs correctly so I gave up. This player plays everything right out of the box with out any issues! I have a bunch of Thunderbirds Are Go DVDs from the UK that play perfectly. Yay! And it plays everything else as well. Fantastic!

Everyone NEEDS a region-free dvd player

Comes with everything you need but with some of the same flaws in all machine these days. Most of the functions only work best with the remote. The USB function may not work the best as compared with the DVD player itself. For the price this works just as well, even better, than regular players for the same price. HIGHLY recommend!

    All-Region DVD Player w/HDMI

This is a standard DVD player, not capable of Blu-ray Disc playback. It can also play regular CD’s as well. This player also comes with a HDMI and RCA cables, which will allow you to experience excellent sound quality. This was a great find and value as well. I really like it.

    Nice little DVD player

This is a nice little DVD player, easy to hook up, lightweight, and with the HDMI/USB/AV option, it should work with basically any TV, computer, or other screen. And if nothing else, I’m just glad someone is still distributing DVD players. Streaming is great and all, but actually owning the physical object gives you a kind of freedom that your Netflix account will never match. So grab this today!

    Does the job, is region-free

This works fine, plays DVDs correctly. One plus is that it really is Region-Free. For some reason, many of the DVD players advertised as “region-free” really aren’t, or require tricky undocumented strategies. But this one really is region-free out of the box. Finally I can play my Region 4 disks that have been gathering dust for years! (don’t ask why I have them).

Don’t buy this; poor remote; player locks up with NTSF USB drive.

Remote is poor – barely adequate range and directionality. Plus, several keys are defective and/or likely to fail soon. “Title” key never works; key above it, back search, works a tiny portion of the time; “up” and “down” keys on directional keypad fail intermittently. A few other keys occasionally don’t register without multiple pushes.Per user manual, USB on player accepts only FAT and FAT32 with a limit of 32Gb. Plugging in a NTFS drive causes the player to loop endlessly in an attempt to read the drive. You need to unplug the power cord to regain control. Other players simply say that they can’t recognize/read the NTSF drive. Not a problem for me, but the shell of the player is entirely plastic and none too solid feeling.Component video output isn’t entirely compatible with either my external component video-to-HDMI adapter or my Aqous TV with component video input. Setting player to 1080i severely distorts the picture. I’ve encountered that issue with a few other devices. On the positive side, as noted earlier, player has component video outputs although cables aren’t included. Picture quality is pretty good for some media, mediocre with others. Fellowship Of The Ring among the former, Hell Or High Water among the latter (color banding, limited contrast levels). Drive motor is generally quiet; tray, less so. Video controls available to help match to your TV. Didn’t bother to conduct detailed tests.Device doesn’t suggest “quality” and the remote – arguably the most important component – is a sooner rather than later failure-in-waiting. I could accept how the unit feels. But, these devices are not meaningfully usable without a good remote.

On Demand Movies are Expensive! This is the answer

When I realized we were spending LOTS of money for On-Demand movies I bought this. Not only do I already have lots of DVD’s but the purcahse more DVD’s is inexpensive, (Goodwill, Walmart, etc.) This is perfect and even if the internet goes out I have a plethora of movies that I can watch. All region works flawlessly for me

I wanted a DVD player to back up what I currently have. Lots to watch that of course can’t find streaming. Never knew there was an all region player. Bought this model and it allowed me to play a PAL region 2 UK DVD without a hitch. Just went through the settings and set it to AUTO. The sound of the player I have hooked up to HDMI is very good. The player is smaller with a very easy to use remote. The picture also is great. I am very pleased with this purchase and just put another one in my cart.

The DVD player was super easy to set up. Picture quality is good, even tho I had to use component cables because my tv doesn’t have enough hdmi ports. My only complaint is that the remote only operates for me if I’m within 3 to 4 feet of the dvd.

Nice and compact–and does what it’s supposed to

I’m an “old” that likes to have physical media because I’m from a time when there was no digital option. For years–and I do mean years–I’ve collected TV programs from before and during my time, first on VHS and then DVD/Blu-ray/HD-DVD. There are hundreds, and of course one needs something with which to view them. DVDs appear to be going the way of VHS and good quality players are getting harder to find affordably. The newest one I have is over 10 years old and while it doesn’t get used daily, weekly, or even monthly, I like knowing I have the option to watch some of the classic shows I love. This is a great little unit. The operation is simple, with a remote that’s easy to read and use–it strongly resembles the remote from my Samsung DVD player. I think my favorite part is that it’s all-region. It has always been a source of irritation that DVDs (and VHS back in the day) were manufactured with region restrictions that made them unplayable in other than that particular region unless you had a source to convert them or managed to get a player from that region. For example, my local public TV station used to play some classic British comedies when I was a kid, and I wanted to get my hands on them when I got older and they became available. Unfortunately, many were only available as Region 2 and the ones that were Region 1 were almost prohibitively expensive. This is a great option and it worked perfectly right out of the box.I do feel I need to stress that this is not usable with Blu-ray. It’s only for the standard DVD version. Luckily, almost all of my collection is standard. My Samsung Blu-ray player is still up and running so between these two, my entire collection is watchable.

    Double Duty

In truth I was hunting for 2 back up items: an all region economical dvd player and a low budget cd player. Bingo – 2 in 1. As I said, this device will not get a lot of use, so I can’t speak about durability. I set it up with the RCA cables and watched a movie and it looked and sounded fine. The cd I played was A-OK. If I can find an extra HDMI port on my tv, I’ll switch over to see if that changes things ( running my cds through my tv cause I’m having tuner problems ) ( but I also have 74 year old ears and eyes). Another nice feature of the player is it’s being small and lightweight making it very portable. I find it a nice bargain to enhance my entertainment needs.

    It works…

So, clearly this isn’t super well made and very much has the feel of an toy. It’s very light and the materials aren’t great. That being said, it’s a very inexpensive, unbranded DVD player that works. Also, the HDMI cable that comes with it has to worth a few bucks. The reason I got this is to use as a CD transport for my stereo, so all I need it to do is spin and read the disc. I don’t listen to CDs very often but wanted the option. Most of my stuff is vintage, and while I could use it as a CD player and go straight into my stereo, I don’t want to rely on whatever DAC is in it. So, instead, I’m running it through my network streamer that has a great built in DAC, and then into the stereo.Additionally, I do still have DVDs. I never watch them, but every once in a while our internet goes out for extended periods of time. Usually I just listen to records when that happens, but maybe it can come in handy then as well.As long as you’re not expecting this to be something it isn’t, I think it’s a good value. If you’re looking for something to play DVDs and/or CDs and just want a simple and inexpensive solution, then this is a great option.

Plays DVD and CD Fine, USB a bit tricky, 110-240V

On the player it was printed for 230V power source but the user manual clearly printed: Power Source 100-240V. I think perhaps the manual is right and I tested it with 110V AC and it works fine. Good that it works for 110-240V.The player works great. I tried different regions, NTSC and PAL and it auto play them. Test it with DVD and CD discs of different regions that I have, and they work fine. For USB input, it is a bit tricky. Per user manual, need to turn off player before inserting USB stick, then (immediately) press and HOLD the DVD/USB button on the remote. Need to keep holding until the screen read and shows the files. Files are separated and in the order of Audio/Pictures/Videos category. If supported the first audio files will be played. You could scroll down using the lower arrow button to the next file. But to go further at the end of the list need to use the left and right button to go round through the C:/audio/picture/video and then the last files and C: . I see more often other devices using up and down buttons but this is not. OK for me after getting used to it. Not all types of files are supported though.Overall: I think this is still a very nice player, with good features. The resolution goes up to 1080P, but you may have to check the setting as I found this one was not set so. Sounds and videos all plays well. The remote controller works well for me. Same sensitivity as others, need to direct it and place close to the player. . All buttons and the plastic casing are fine. Although it is not perfect, but for the price it is a decent player.

    A Good Choice!

The WSJSYH DVD Player is designed for the movie or TV viewer that wants to watch programs from other regions of the world. Most DVD’s are region locked – you can’t watch a European DVD on a US only player. This means that if you try to purchase a show like “Malcolm in the Middle” only season one is available in the US but the complete series is available in the UK. The “Wonder Years” UK version, though still not complete, has additional music that was omitted from the US version. If you puchase these and other “imports” they will not play on the DVD player unless you have a “multi-region” player. The WSJSYH DVD Player doesn’t care what region the disc is from, it will play it. It can play both PAL and NTSC discs and features composite, component and HDMI output up to 1080P. It includes an HDMI and composite cable along with a remote control (batteries not included). It also features all of the regular DVD features but most important of al, it will play the foreign discs. It also supports mutiple video formats and a thumb drive up to 32GB.The WSJSYH DVD Player is a good choice at a reasonable price.

    1080p upscaling is excellent

This DVD player and remote are both very light weight. The player itself is small and can fit just about anywhere. The included HDMI cable is of good quality, but the power cord is a little short. They also include a short composite cable if you need one of those. Upscaling to 1080p works great. When compared to a player that can only do 480p, the difference is huge. It’s well worth the money for anyone with an older DVD player to upgrade, even if your current 480p player is working just fine. The signal from the remote is strong, and the player is very responsive to button presses. I don’t have to worry about getting just the right angle like I do with some of my other remotes. This player has been perfect for my needs.

All-Region DVD Player, convenient HDMI connection, zoom feature

This DVD player plays all the different region DVDs that I have, which is most important for me. I have regions 1, 2, 3 but no 4 though I assume it plays those as well. There are three ways to connect to TV but best and most convenient is the HDMI cable (included)–no need for any additional AV cable with HDMI but there is also an AV cable included if your TV does not have HDMI. Third option is a digital coaxial cable but that is not included with the player; also, batteries for remote are not included. Player works well and has interesting zoom feature available when watching a film–allows viewer to zoom in on scene. It has its own volume button which my other all-region player (with coaxial cable connection only) does not have. Good value for the price though I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks so time will tell. One odd thing– the rewind/reverse button on my remote is labeled PEV instead of REV, so misspelled. The accompanying written instructions are generally clear though. The other odd thing is that it doesn’t have a brand name–just “DVD player.”

A nice little DVD Player that plays a multitude of formats… Perfect!!!

This is a nice little DVD Player that plays a multitude of formats…It plays both MP3 files and WMA files as well as VCD’s and DVD’s. It will also display JPEG picture files. I also like the fact that you have the option to play files from either a CD or DVD disk as well as a USB Thumb Drive. About the only thing it will not play is Blu-Ray Discs. That’s a shame as if it did, then this item would be perfect…About the only complaint I have is that this device only supports USB Thumb Drives up to 16GB… It would have been better of if it supported Thumb Drives up to 64GB or 128GB in size which are more common sizes…Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers…Thanks and take care…Joe…

Great dvd player for cord-cutters, free dvd’s at libraries everywhere.

We got this to play DVD’s from the library, since we’ve ‘cut the cord’ with cable (and don’t miss it or the cost.) Easy set up with a high quality picture and a great resume feature for picking up a movie where you left off even if the DVD player is turned off. It’s small, comes with a audio/video cord as well as an HDMI. Quick boot up on start and loads disk & selected DVD chapters quickly. The remote has lots of extra features, it takes AAA batteries but batteries aren’t included. Cord lengths are fairly short so keep that in mind for setup.
