Acer SB2 series 27-inch Full HD monitor has an amazing thin enclosure with a frameless bezel. Through AMD FreeSync technology, the game’s frame rate is determined by your graphics card, not the fixed refresh rate of the monitor, giving you a serious competitive edge. The design saves space on your desk and lets you place multiple monitors side by side to build a seamless big-screen display. The remarkable 100 Million:1 contrast ratio ensures a crystal-clear viewing experience while rapid 1ms (VRB) response time keeps moving images sharp. It also supports HDMI & VGA inputs offering greater compatibility. (UM.HS2AA.E02).

Exquisite Display at a Hard to Beat Price
When my Acer SB230 arrived it was hard for me to believe that there was actually a monitor inside the box. I’m so used to the big, heavy, clunky monitors of the past that it seemed far too light. It was well packaged and came protected by a clamshell foam insert which was inserted into a thick, form-fitting box. Everything that was supposed to be in the box was there. The only thing I wished they would have included is an HDMI cable. They did include a VGA cable but I wasn’t about to spend money on a monitor and then not get the best picture possible by using the VGA input — so I purchased an HDMI cable locally.Assembly TimePutting the monitor together was simple and took less than 5-minutes. The hardest part was removing the clear coat protection tape that they used on the stand and bottom edge of the bezel.Pros:Lightweight, sleek, and ultra-modern looking — makes other monitors look fat.Outstanding image quality, everything is sharp and clear. The brightness of the monitor right out of the box is perfect. I didn’t adjust a single thing. No dead pixels anywhere on the screen.Non-skid rubber feet do a great job of holding the monitor in place. The monitor, though extremely thin, is surprisingly strong and durable. The thin bezel frame that surrounds the screen is hardly noticeable and practically disappears in a darkened room.Has the ability to tilt backward 15 to 20 degrees — just be sure and grab the monitor at the top-center and bottom-center when you adjust it.Cons:A few minor ones.No DVI-D connection. No HDMI cable included.(They should have skipped the VGA and provided an HDMI cable.)It doesn’t have the ability to adjust vertically.(The height though, seems to be perfect with 3-3/4″ of space under the monitor.)They have put the adjustment controls underneath the bottom right-hand side of the monitor. However, now that I have used it for a few days, I’m glad the controls are under the monitor. Sure, having them there isn’t as convenient but the result is a much sleeker look. Which I think is what Acer wanted to accomplish. It’s also a plus not to have the “power on” light constantly shining at me. By the way, it’s barely visible under the monitor, and when lit is a nice dark shade of blue.**************My Decision ProcessI spent a lot of time reading hundreds of reviews by Amazon customers on what they thought of their purchase. And though I considered other brands and comparable models (HP, BenQ, ViewSonic, Sceptre, LG, Samsung, ASUS) each time I came back to Acer.In the end, my decision came down to either the Acer SB220Q or the Acer SB230. I chose the SB230 because it had a larger screen (23″ vs 21.5″) and faster access time (1 ms access time vs 4 ms for the SB220Q). I also wanted a slightly larger monitor because my vision, while okay, isn’t great. At the same time, space on my desktop is at a premium and anything larger would have been unwieldy. All things considered, I am very happy with my choice.A Sad DayThe Acer SB230 replaced my dearly beloved ViewSonic VX2235wm – a 22-inch monitor that finally bit the dust after many years of faithful service. Dumping it in the trash today was a lot harder than I thought it would be. In its time, it was a great monitor. That’s why I came oh so close to buying a Viewsonic.ADDED: 1/8/19I don’t understand how anyone could give the SB230 a “One-Star” review. Either the other reviewer got a “lemon” or he is using the VGA cable to connect to the monitor. (Don’t.) An HDMI cable and a decent video card will make a world of difference in the picture quality. I’m running an old Dell 980 Optiplex with an I7 quad-core processor, 16gb of ram, an Nvidia GT610 video card and the picture on my monitor is stunning! I just watched an NBA basketball game and I felt like I was sitting courtside. It doesn’t get much better than that — unless you’re at the game.UPDATE: 7/15/19It’s now six months later and I can report that I still love this monitor as much as the day it arrived. I have encountered no problems with it at all. Every pixel on the screen is still perfect and the picture is still as stunning to me as the first time I turned it on. I have no regrets whatsoever and would buy this monitor again if I needed another.UPDATE: 10/10/20It’s now almost two years later and I’m still very happy with this monitor. It has no dead pixels and still functions properly. In its price range, it’s pretty tough to beat for value, quality, and durability.

Attn Console Gamers!
The media could not be loaded.
(Disclaimer: I specifically got this monitor for console gaming, but don’t let that alienate you from other uses! My review will only focus on my personal use and those that might have similar needs). If you’re someone (like me) that loves gaming, but not the usual high cost that comes with high quality – than this monitor might be your solution too. I intentionally downgraded to a more essentialist lifestyle by eliminating my 55” LED HDTV and put game costs on the back burner for a little bit. I didn’t want to completely sacrifice my hobby though just because it can hit into the budget/savings/investments and all that good, responsible stuff. 🙂 I am also never one to sacrifice quality – so it can be challenging to have the best of both worlds. But it is entirely possible! I did quite a bit of comparison shopping, and was impressed with the specs of this affordable ACER. Since I am familiar with their reputation, I decided on this particular model simply for its game tech focus and price point (the product description on this page is spot on accurate). I’ve compiled my major observations in the Pros and Cons below – and can say without a doubt it has given me the chance to game on my terms without any significant financial investment. For me that’s a 5 star satisfaction experience! My equipment: Playstation 4My must haves: Tabletop size 20’’-24’’ <$120Full 1080 HDmin 60Hz refresh rateHeadphone portHDMI portPros:Crisp, responsive, bright pictureTiltable stand Edgeless frame design No dead pixels/noticeable glare or ghostingNo stuttering/response lag in cinematics or gameplayMultiple picture adjustment settings Headphone audio port Ease of setup and assembly Excellent $ value(Potential) Cons: Power button is easy to tap or mistake for settings buttons when adjustingNo internal speaker (not really an issue for me though. I use pro headphones for 90% of audio) Only 1 HDMI port (not an issue for me yet) Stand is not height adjustableMake no mistake, this is a solid monitor for most general uses. Pictures and video do a fairly good job showing it off, but it is much nicer in person. It looks professional and sturdy and compliments any environment. It's definitely worth the effort to experiment with settings to get your perfect playback and adjust gamma in-game as needed.I think it does a great job in bright or dim light and isn't one of those screens that has to be in a dark room to shine. I might be tempted to test it more thoroughly beside my 4k iMac eventually, but for now I’m good dedicating it exclusively to my lonely PS4. Hopefully this review can help anyone that might be undecided. I am very happy with the cost to quality ratio and it has met all the requirements I was specifically looking for 🙂 25 people found this helpful

Refresh rate not reaching 100Hz???
Advertised as a 100Hz but only reaching 90Hz when testing. This is the main reason I requested a return. I have a 144Hz VA panel so I know the issue is not on my end.A nitpick would be the low inputs on the rear are aesthetically questionable, but at the same time its a slim and light monitor. Otherwise a very nice screen, just not exactly performing as it should for me.

A Visual Delight for Productivity and Pleasure
I recently purchased two Acer SB272U Ebiip monitors as early Christmas gifts for my aunts, who were facing challenges with reading text on their small laptop screens. I couldn’t be happier with this choice, and here’s why:Firstly, the 27-inch WQHD (2560×1440) resolution provides a crisp and clear display, making text easy to read and reducing eye strain significantly. The IPS Zero-Frame design not only enhances the visual experience but also allows for a seamless multi-monitor setup, perfect for boosting productivity. The inclusion of AMD FreeSync Technology is a notable feature for gaming enthusiasts, ensuring smooth visuals and preventing screen tearing. While my aunts may not be avid gamers, the 100Hz refresh rate and 1ms VRB response time contribute to an overall smooth and responsive user experience, especially when handling multiple applications simultaneously. The ultrathin and stylish design of the monitor adds a touch of sophistication to their workspaces. The low blue light feature is a thoughtful addition, promoting healthier viewing by minimizing eye strain during extended use.Connectivity options are plentiful, with Display Port and two HDMI 2.0 ports, providing flexibility for various devices. Setting up the monitors was a breeze, and the packaging ensured they arrived in pristine condition. In summary, the Acer SB272U Ebiip monitors have proven to be an excellent solution for my aunts’ visual needs. Whether for work or casual use, these monitors offer a perfect blend of functionality, aesthetics, and user-friendly features. I’m confident they will make for delightful Christmas gifts that enhance both productivity and visual enjoyment. Highly recommended!

—— 1080p Monitor in the age of 4K everything ——PRO:1. Needed a monitor for wife’s desktop, this works great.2. Thin on the top 2/3rds but the bottom is normal thick. Strange build, but okay.3. Great picture quality, however, was little disapointed at view angle from the bottom. Yeah, we have this set a bit high, and it’s hard to see from below.CON:1. The big round base collects dust.2. Those that got broken items, send it back, don’t give 1 star you silly people, that is shipping, not product.3. So small a space, wonder will the screen suffer heat issues.

27” QHD great for office work
Didn’t see many reviews for the 27” QHD version. I bought two for use for office work (coding, excel, email) in a dual monitor set up and they work great. Brightness is good, I have them at 85% with a large window directly behind me. Out of the box the colors match between the two monitors so no need to mess with the settings. They turn on quickly when I come back to my computer. Although I like the height of the monitors I would have preferred if height was adjustable. There is no cable management clips or anything. Overall for $130 a very good buy.Dimensions: the base is just under 9” in diameter. The screen will sit about 5.25” from the wall due to the shape of the stand. The bottom of the monitor is 3.5” above the desk. The top of the monitor is 17.75” above the desk.

Happy with this monitor
I use a laptop and for some programs the screen was a little too small for me, so I decided to get this monitor to hook up to my laptop. For a reasonable price, it was delivered the next day. It was simple to set up and plug in, although I did buy a separate HDMI cable to plug into my laptop to monitor. It did come with one I think (or was it vga?) but I bought a cheap box of separate HDMI cables from amazon just to be safe.So basically, just snapped the stand into place, plugged in the HDMI cable and the power cord, and viola, I now have a good much bigger monitor. Also, the color and vibrancy of the screen is much better than my laptop screen. I was debating for a while whether to get a 24″ or 27″ monitor but did some research and you are supposed to sit farther away from a 27″ monitor, and I don’t have the space on my desk. Also 24″ is pretty much standard for all gaming. So, I went with this 24″ and it is a huge improvement over my small and not so vibrant laptop screen.I have to say I still get a little eye strain with certain games and have to wear glasses, but I don’t think this is any fault of the monitor. Overall, I am very happy with this new 24″ monitor and would recommend it. Thanks for reading and good luck!

One of the best options for cheap high refresh rate monitors
I spent some time looking around for multiple options for good monitors, but after considering factors like refresh rate, size and type of screen I ended up opting for this monitor. It was just what I needed! It feels high quality, it’s surprisingly slim, the picture quality is really good and the 100 Hz refresh rate feels like a nice middle ground between 75 Hz and 144 Hz. For the price it’s absolutely worth it.

Incorrect product information—not VESA compatible
I got this because it seemed like a great deal and because it says it’s VESA mount compatible. However, it only has 2/4 holes, which is not standard. I’d consider keeping it for the value, but the stand it comes is also ill-fitted and I haven’t actually been able to get it on (nor have several others) so I haven’t been able to use it. Perhaps my stand is defective but regardless, I will be returning and replacing for a monitor that is actually VESA mount compatible and can stand upright.

Looks great, very happy
Arrived fast. Used it so far for around 3 weeks nonstop. I just plugged it in and it worked nicely. First to a PC from 2012 with VGA (in this case had to set the display settings to 1080p quality first. It worked perfectly. Then to a new PC through an HDMI and works perfectly, I have had to do no adjustments. The highest brightness setting for me seems very bright, I am using it almost on lowest brightness but my room light is low. Very happy with the quality.

Screens look great
I bought two screens to replace mine at work. Just got them set up. I love the size and the picture quality is great but I wish I had known that they aren’t height adjustable (can’t lift them up to eye level) and they don’t tilt like I’m used to. I may have to buy some risers…Just thought others might like to know this as well before purchasing.

The functionality is as expected. It’s quick, bright, and clear.I ordered 2 monitors and they’re about an 1″ deferent in height. Good reviews are because of price — Not a good product and VERY inconvenient
Where do I start? The screen is fine for the price, but it’s not VESA-compatible with mounts, the base is NOT height adjustable or tilt-able (which is a problem because the left side of the screen sits lower than the right side and immediately noticeable), the AC adapter is not a standard monitor power adapter AND the cord is so short I had to re-arrange all my wires to bring the power strip closer. It’s HDMI and not DisplayPort — the complaints go on. And now as I’m disassembling it to return, the plastic on the stand is only meant to snap in and won’t snap out without me breaking it. So basically, it’s a cheap screen and it looks fine, but every other part is designed to be as humanly inconvenient as possible, almost as if on purpose.

No real VESA mount
I need to mount this on the wall, simple thing right?Says VESA mount in the description, so I buy, set aside until all the equipment is ready to install – wall mount ready – then open this. 3 days after the return window closes. Useless is not the word I used, false advertising was part of the sentence. TWO short holes on the bottom, would last about 20 seconds until you try to adjust the screen. Misleading term used at best, rather dissatisfied.

It works
Was using a TV for my monitor and thought I’d upgrade to a real computer monitor. Truthfully, I was disappointed in the screen as the picture was no better than my TV. It was however bigger so I’m gonna keep it for the cost . In reality I probably would’ve just kept the tv if I would have known. On the bright side, it is a lot lighter and thinner than my flatscreen 21”TV was.

VESA compatible
Everyone keeps saying this monitor is NOT VESA compatible, but that’s only partly true. It does not have a 4-hole pattern on the back. BUT, there are two holes parallel to the stand mount insert that fit the inner square of a VESA mount. And this is so light, it doesn’t try to tip a multi arm stand.I have it mounted on this (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SLRF65R?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) right now, and while it’s only 2 of 4 screws, I have no fear of tipping.Does it exactly match up to a standard stand, no, but is it doable? Yes. ACER isn’t THAT stupid (although they don’t advertise it anywhere, so maybe they don’t want you to know).

Excellent picture – perfect size for a desk – BUT…
Acer has always had great picture quality, which this one does as well, and the ability to tilt the screen is always helpful for viewing quality at a desk setup. BUT – this monitor and ALL monitors could really benefit with having a remote control. FOR GEEZ SAKES – my HDMI switch has a remote control, so why do monitors NOT have them today?! — Having to get out of my chair and lean over to use buttons on the bottom of the monitor is archaic – like going back to having to get up to change channels on TVs of yesteryear. And then: the buttons operate in a very weird way. You have to feel for the correct button -and then press it to get the mode you want and then feel around for the correct button to change the setting – and getting that right is an exercise in frustration. To change input from VGA to HDMI – you have to fish around to get that mode – and then when you finally get it to change – the monitor sets there for several seconds – like it’s not going to do anything – before it finally switches over to the other input – literally ridiculous for what’s supposed to be “modern technology”. — And it was my mistake for ordering a monitor that doesn’t have any audio outputs. I didn’t check that first, but WHAT input doesn’t have audio with it today???!!! ALL inputs have audio – so why don’t ALL monitors have audio outputs — this one does NOT!!! And you cannot return any monitor or TV because it doesn’t have a feature you wanted – it has to be defective to be returnable! So – I’m STUCK WITH THIS ONE! — Having to change things on the monitor by feeling around on invisible buttons – and having no audio output as a standard feature cost it several stars. ALL monitors should have audio outputs and BY NOW – they should all have remote controls. When mere input switches now have remote controls but monitors don’t – we are going backwards in technology, but it looks like that’s where we are stuck — unfortunately.

This can work with a VESA mount
As another reviewer mentioned, this monitor can be used with a 75mm VESA mount. There are only two holes for screws on the monitor, but because the monitor is so light, it attaches securely.I have mine on this mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T3KCQ94/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I reached out to Acer who told me this monitor uses M4 8mm screws to mount. I had to buy M4 8mm screws from my local hardware store because that size screw did not come with the mount.

There’s a reason these monitors are cheap
These are cheap for a reason. They claim they have full VESA mounting, but they don’t, they have 2/4 points, which means you’re not secured in place fully, so if you bump it, there’s a risk.Power – these do not take your standard C13 plug, they use a proprietary power adapter with a plug that overlaps other plugs on your power strip. If you plan to get monitors to mount, do NOT get these. Spend a few more bucks and get something that is FULLY VESA, and has an actual power cord.

LOOKS GREAT BUT…WORST STAND ATTACHMENT…EVER!!!!
Looks great BUT: THE WORST CHEAP, PLASTIC STAND ATTACHMENT EVER!!!!!Of course, after many sweaty minutes of trying to attach the stand to the monitor, the cheap, plastic tab cracked off in the process. What do I want for a $100 monitor??? A much more substantial system for attaching it to a cheap plastic stand. So…NOW I have it leaning on two metal legs that hold up my center speaker…Doesn’t need much encouragement to fall over the other way…
