Alltura Diffuser Softbox
I was very happy to see the range of sizes available for this item. Ordering was very easy (through Amazon), packaging was perfect, sensible, and protective. I have used the softbox on my Nikon SB-600 with excellent results. It is light enough to be easily handheld on the flash and light distribution is very good. A wonderful product for macro work. Thanks very much

Great value
Takes the harshness off the flash. Very convenient for needing just enough light but not enough to wash everything out.

Retired pro famouse photographer.
The larger the light source the SOFTER the light. I’ve aways hated flash on camera. If I used one I would only bounce off walls to soften the light. RETIRED and sold most all my gear and huge softboxes I used for portraiture and needed to shoot some media for my church. After shooting ambient light only with blue windows light and colors LEDS (they use in chuch) it was a nicemare to correct color. I bought this and will try some flash fill to soften eye socket shadows and clean up the color some. I’ve not used it yet but i feels great, looks nice, mounts easy. The (largest one 11×8?) fits nice and doesn’t hit lens. Pleased with concept, I will try it tomorrow at Church. I may report back. SO FAR love it.

Purchased for macro and is decent for price
Sticks out far enough to be able to bend down for macro. When bending down, pinch bottom of bellows and pull down as well so it does not block your flash. Stiff metal internal gram the can be bent to contour the light. Will be using this for a while

easy to use, fast set up
this wont replace a large octagon diffuser but this does a really good job of bridging the gap. This is my go to for quick and mobile use. I usually reflect off the ceiling and get the desired effect.Snuggly fits over flash/strobe. Ease to use and folds up nice and neatly. very portable and a must have for any photographer

It helped but…
I misplaced my Gary Fong and I didn’t wanna spend for a replacement so I bought this thinking it could work magic, but it was not as good. It got me through an event in a club with low light but I do feel it limited the light as well as diffused it.

Good materials
Made from good materials. But the diffusion is medium, I can see a spot of light in the middle even with attaching the lining inside. Will buy again if needed but would be great if they upgrade the diffusion fabric.

Not exactly the results I was hoping for, but excellent customer service
I was looking for something inexpensive for event photography that would soften the flash so there wouldn’t be such a high contrast between the subject and the background in large areas where I can’t bounce the flash. I tried the 6×5 diffuser. I like how it folds up and fits into an included bag so it takes up very little space and easily fits in my camera bag and it’s very reasonably priced. Attaching it to the flash is also fairly easy and the internal diffuser allows you to change the amount of diffusion it provides. Unfortunately I’m not terribly happy with the end result. While this may work with many flashes, it does not work well with mine. When used strait on the diffuser blocks the AF assist light of my Nikon SB-600 making it very difficult for my camera to focus in low light situations. Raising my flash up slightly seems to help, however that’s not a position that my flash locks in so it’s easy to bump it out of position. Looking at the photos and video in their listing, it shows flashes with the AF assist light on the bottom half of the body while mine has them on the top half. I believe this could work well if you have the right kind of flash. Their support was very helpful and reached out to me to offer assistance and to ensure their product met my needs.

Questionable Use.
If I could rate it a 3.5 out of 5, that would be more accurate, but I rounded up.I bought this flash for my Nikon SB-500 and it fit quite well. I bought it with the intention of looking more professional during a wedding gig. I also wanted the diffuser to make the flash significantly less harsh, while giving me good lighting (the reception was in a barn). Shipping was really fast and I got it pretty much the day after. It came in a pretty thin but adequate bag and a little lens cleaner that I never used. The reason why I would like to knock 1.5 stars off because of two reasons.1. I don’t know if it really makes much of the difference. When I got it, I took two pictures to compare, both of which seemed very similar (there was a slight difference– the diffuser did make the second photo less harsh). But ultimately it wasn’t up to the standard that I expected.2. It fell off SO easily. Either I put it on wrong (I did it as the picture showed, making one loop around the flash parallel to each side of the box thing the diffuser makes) or the ‘grips’ did little to no work. At one point I got so frustrated with picking it off the ground (and dusting all the dirt) that I just left it on the side and turned my flash upwards instead. Instead, when I adjusted the elastic clasp so that it went behind the flash and back around (forcing it to clasp onto the flash so it physically can’t fall) it helped a lot.All in all, it wasn’t a terrible purchase…just not an AMAZING purchase. Perhaps I recommend that the company add instructions to it, to clarify how to adjust the straps.

It Does What It’s Supposed to Do
When I do flash photography, I have always angled my flash slightly up so I don’t get the flash look or I used the diffuser that came with the flash. I saw someone using this and did some research before buying. It’s very easy to put on the flash, stays put, and provides sufficient diffusion such that people look great in portraits.

Excellent lightweight or travel softbox!
It’s not a true softbox and won’t soften the light like one, but for the price you’re getting a whole lot of value here.I generally use this on an off-camera flash or when traveling, stick it in my bag for my on-camera flash. It’s incredibly lightweight but built tough, and folds FLAT (one of the questions I had before purchasing it. Thanks Amazon community for the answers!)The spines are stiff but do well to hold the periphery of the illuminating area static. I found the middle of the road 9×7″ size to be perfect for a packable solution. It’s not too small causing the light to not soften enough, and not large enough to cause undue bulkiness while shooting. It also cuts down on top-heavy weight on the camera. The attachment is velcro and before you poo poo it, let me just say it’s felt as secure and feels completely sturdy as anything else I’ve tried on the flash’s head. There’s even a little fabric flap inside that acts as another diffuser before light even hits the main diffusion area. It also prevents the softbox from sliding up into the softbox so it has a purpose other than some gimmicky little extra piece. It can be a little fiddly, but attaches to the interior portion of the softbox and can stay out of the way if you don’t wish to use it. Versatile, I like that. It’s a little easier to use than the Gary Fong solution, plus it’s a more direct light and doesn’t lose as many stop of light saving some battery life in the process. I actually prefer using it more than the GF lately.Works great on Yongnuo 560iv’s, Canon 600ex ii’s and probably comparable Nikon flashes.Again, you’re not going to get a super duper soft light out of these but for how compact and lightweight they are, you’d be foolish not to pack it in just in case!

Works pretty good.
Decent tiny softbox for a speedlight. It folds very flat and has a storage baggie. Because it’s small, you’ll need to have your light very close to your subject to have any appreciable level of diffusion. I do wish it held its shape better when deployed, you do have to fuss with it a bit to keep it from re-folding itself.

Saved my wedding shoot
When I was hired to shoot a wedding, I scoped out the locatiin a few days ahead of time. Outdoor gazebo, no reflective surfaces to bounce flash, daylight. I figured i would need several flashes, and needed to order another one. My order did not arrive in time, and i was forced to find an alternative. Order this flash diffuser the day before the shoot as it promised next day morning delivery. Received it when promised and did some practice shots. Did not come with instructions, and after testing, it had a few hot spots that concerned me. Found a video on YouTube that shows it has a secondary diffuser that i wasn’t aware of. Once installing the secondary diffuser, no hot spots!Did the wedding shoot with excellent results. Normally i would not shoot direct lighting, but this worked great. During reception, i was going to use normal bounce flash plus backlighting flash. Unfortunately, once again the reception venue had black ceilings and walls (ugh). Ended up using this for on camera direct lighting. Photos turned out great. Definitely recommended to have in your bag as a backup, or even primary tool for photos.

Impressive Build quality
I ordered the 3 size pack and received it very fast, The price was more than reasonable. The build quality is very good they should last a long time if taken care of. They mount easily, all 3 sizes fit my speedlights the flashpoint V860 II and the TT350. However the large size isn’t something I’d mount on the TT350 with it on the camera. It’s better suited for a tripod mounted TT350. I have a Neewer vision 2 Pocket flash 200W light it’s a rebranded VISICO. It has a round head that is 3″ in diameter the large modifier fits the Neewer vison 2, although it’s a very tight fit. Mounting is a breeze and they stays in place.I seem to lose about a stop of light which I expected. The quality of light is not a soft light as some have stated but the light very well diffused with no harsh shadows.I bought them to provide a portable modifier that takes up little space, easy to mount, and able to diffuse the light these fit the bill to a tee. The Altura video describing these modifiers is 100% accurate.I can’t wait to use them outside for portraits but that won’t be for awhile it’s to cold and the snow keeps coming.I highly recommend these modifiers they do a fantastic job just don’t expect them provide the exact same light as a much larger soft box.

Very Impressive!
I had an old diffuser that I made back in 2010. I thought I would never need another until I saw this one. I was curious and I ordered and I’m glad that I did. My photos are looking smooth! Big thumbs up with this product! It’s easy to carry around in a small bag and is very effective when it comes to taking photos. The lighting diffuser is so soft and really minimizes those hot spots or oily skin on your subject, reducing your time in Photoshop or Lightroom.

If using On-Camera Flash, this is the way to go.
Any decent photographer knows that on-camera flash is not ideal lighting. But no doubt, there are times when on-camera flash is the only thing you can do. And if so, these are great diffusers to use. They are light weight, easy to pack in my camera bag, and do a nice job, as expected. Of course, I didn’t know whet size I’d like, and buying two of them separately was more expensive than buying the three pack… so I got all three. The trade-offs seem obvious – if you want to go small and least obtrusive, the small size is best, at the expense of the least benefit in creating soft light. The largest one definitely seems more cumbersome, but of the three, will provide the best in soft light capability. So maybe, if you only want to buy one, get the medium size! But oddly, I have all three and will be less likely to select the medium size, choosing between minimum size and maximum diffusion objectives. I have been looking forward to setting these up on multiple speed-lights with remote triggering for multi-strobe applications, just haven’t got there yet. But I am sure they will improve the light quality in that application as well.

ALTURA PHOTO 6X5″ FLASH DIFFUSER LIGHT SOFTBOX – AFFORDABLE WELL MADE PRODUCT THAT SOFTENS LIGHT
When it comes to photography my main interests are macro and landscape photography, so I can’t really speak about how well this Altura Photo Flash Diffuser Light Softbox works for portrait photography. However, by the videos that I have seen regarding Altura Photo’s flash diffuser light softboxes the results you get by using them when shooting portraits are pretty impressive! I will have to try that out soon! When I first opened my Altura Photo 6×5″ Flash Diffuser Light Softbox I was impressed by how well it was made. I also liked how the strap was already attached to the Flash Diffuser Light Softbox which makes it quick and easy to put on your flash. The interior has reflective silver lining to maximize your flash output and it has grippy rubber strips that makes it hug securely around my Neewer TT560 Speedlite. The strap holds tightly around the flash with a velcro closure. The Flash Diffuser Light Softbox folds up nicely, and the storage pouch that Altura Photo includes with this flash diffuser is well made and will keep it protected as you put it in your backpack or camera bag along with all your other camera gear.I used the flash diffuser as I shot some photos of the only bloomed flower (that was beginning to shrivel) among many buds in my violet plant, and it really helped to soften the light without diminishing the fine details that were brought out by the flash. I am very happy with my purchase of Altura Photo’s 6×5” Flash Diffuser Light Softbox and IMHO I think you will be too! I am looking forward to using it this spring as I shoot many photos of insects and flowers!A few years ago I subscribed to Digital Goja’s YouTube channel and have appreciated many of the videos that Izzy and Adam have made. Their genuineness and sincerity comes through as they share all of their information. Based on that, as well as on the many other good reviews, not only of this product but also regarding their good customer service, I ordered Altura Photo’s 6×5” Flash Diffuser Light Softbox with the confidence that they will offer good customer service if a problem ever does arise.

Perfect for smaller flash units and cameras.
I own a Canon M50 mirrorless camera with an Altura 305C flash. It makes for a very compact unit. I have always preferred the softbox type difuser and this unit is perfect for the smaller cameras and flashes. I do shoot photos and not videos with my M50. I like it!
It’s not expensive or one of the more expensive diffusers but it does an ok job! I like it(not love). I am only taking pictures at home right now so this will do. It works great for that! But if I wanted to make money from my portrait shoots, I’d go with something else! But this is great to have if you’re ever on the go or caught in a jam with your wedding photography or etc! I highly recommend it for folks on a budget like me. I’m going to test it for a cake smash photoshoot with my niece late September, so I’ll see just how well it will do with a 50mm 1.8 lens on a canon 70D! I usually just point my flash straight up and let the light bounce around the room but I’m going to try it head on with the diffuser & see how well it lights up my backdrop & props!

I really like this
This softbox is really nice. I originally got it for my macro photography because I didnt want to spend alot on a macro softbox and deffuser and boy does it do wonders. I tested it on taking portraits of my cat as well and it was OK. I think this item is great though overall. I use the little two pack reflector/deffusers amazon sells and it makes a big difference. Well worth the money if youre just starting out in artificial light like I am.

Great for animal portraits. Maybe I will try it on people…
I bought this diffuser to improve the portraits of cats at the local animal shelter, which I visit weekly. Today’s images really are pleasanter—less flash-harsh on the faces, with more balanced illumination on the rest of the animal . An unanticipated benefit: The diffused illumination let me open the aperture almost 2 stops, making the autofocus noticeably snappier. (I had already dialed flash power back almost to minimum.) I shot five cats this morning with one exposure each. Some weeks there are many more, and efficiency is important. The Altura Softbox appears well made, especially for the low price. A good value, indeed.

Light spread is terrific
Equipment: Nikon D5600, Godox Speedlite TT685II, XPro N (transmitter for flash)Photos are unedited. The flash relative to the camera is ~3-4 feet away, however the spread on the subject is great for that distanceThe softbox really does wonders with portrait lighting. If you get a transmitter for your flash, pin a solid colored blanket/towel to your wall at home you literally make a studio with legitimate studio lighting for 1/10-1/20th the price it would be. Works great with shooting groups, the spread and wash out is great on people’s cheeks and contours. Satisfied with my purchase
