    Gorgeous

I bought this monitor tentatively based on some other substandard reviews. I’m glad I pulled the trigger though. This monitor is, well I think the title sums it up best, gorgeous. There were no dead pixels and the item was well packaged upon receipt. First off I must dispell the “ghosting” rumor. There is zero ghosting on my monitor. It’s running on a GTX 460 1gb graphics card with a mini HDMI-HDMI connection. I have watched high definition content online, blu-ray movies, and used various applications trying my hardest to find a flaw, but to no avail. It performs seamlessly. Moreover, the colors and factory presets were spot on. Some reviewers stated they had to spend hours calibrating this monitor before it was remotely viewable. I can’t understand or relate to this in any way. I was more afraid to adjust the settings at all because it was already perfect right out of the box. I’ve also read some reviewers stating that you need to use a DVI before you can switch to HDMI. This is also not true. I started with the HDMI and after changing the input selection to HDMI the screen loaded right up. The initial display was at an old resolution for some reason but all it took was a reboot and I was viewing full 1080p.Moving on, the stand is secure but not the most stable. Let me explain, it’s definitely not going to spontaneously fly off your desk however, if you have a desk or computer cart that moves then the monitor will wobble. Seems like more of a safety feature though because the base remains glued to the surface but the monitor jiggles a bit to absorb the motion. This is the only thing that could be considered a flaw. Other then that Asus has released 24 inches of brilliantly vivid glory. This monitor is remarkably clear while remaining very easy on the eyes. Not to mention energy efficient running at around 30 watts. Do yourself a favor and grab one, for $200 you can’t do better.

easier to swivel my desk left or right than the monitor

all features are fine and ways to move it around are great EXCEPT the damn thing doesn’t easily swivel left to right. I removed the set screw from the base which is supposed to allow it to swivel. it’s on a formica desktop so swiveling should be easy. but it is easier to swivel the desk. maybe the base is defective. DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU WANT IT TO SWIVEL BECAUSE AFTER ASSEMBLING IT YOU”LL HAVE TO TAKE IT APART AND REPACKAGE TO SEND BACK. ALSO, NO USER GUIDE MUST DOWNLOAD FROM ASUS. WONDER IF I GOT ONE THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY RETURNED. since swiveling is not of the utmost importance i gave it 3 stars -1 no manual -1 swivel

Inexpensive and works but needs a silly external power adapter.

These are a good value for the money except for two limitations: height is not adjustable and power supply is external. The former is fixable with a book or two under its base but the latter becomes a hassle if you store it as a backup in a closet and then realize you misplaced the little power adapter and have no idea where it is.

    Excellent quality screen

Just bought to replace a same-priced Phillips that was oddly fuzzy. This one is crisp, accurate colors, and bright. I thought the USB slots on the back were just for charging, but noticed a USB to square-shaped plug came with this. When you connect your laptop to the screen with that, the USB slots connect to your laptop and are functional. Great buy!

    Amazing

As I wasn’t expecting to write this review this fast, I’m slightly in shock!Ordered this on Feb 23rd, Paid for the 3-5day Standard Shipping. Recieved this Friday 2/25. Talk about fast? Amazon tracking still shows it is “Shipping Soon”. Props to the Amazon and ANTonline for fast processing/shipping/delivery. Wasn’t expecting this thing until next week!Out of box, yes the colors are horrible, Red/Blue/Green all turned up to 100%. Simply setting this to Theatre Mode fixed it, but to ever go off of a “Splendid Mode” you need to manually adjust those. I’m not going to dock stars because of Out Of Box Look, this is expected. This monitor is awesome. I haven’t noticed any Ghosting, nor have I seen any Dead Pixels. There’s no White visibly shown through around the edges, and the black is Black. The image is just awesome.I Jumped into World of Warcraft to check out the view, 10x better than my older 20″ LCD. The colors just Pop out at you. It’s amzing. The ONLY 2 negative comments I can make, although I knew this by reading hundreds of reviews first, is that you HAVE to hook up to DVI/VGA and adjust the settings to HDMI to run from an HDMI cable. Doesn’t take more than 30 seconds, you can leave the HDMI cable plugged in while you do it, and you can unplug the DVI/vga cable immediately and it will Auto Refresh onto the HDMI slot. The 2nd negative is that the speakers suck. I didn’t purchasse this Monitor for the system as I have a 5.1 Surround hooked up to my PC. Quite frankly I don’t know anyone looking for a monitor because of the SOUND, but if you are, look elsewhere. You aren’t going to get amazing sound past High pitch (Take your car stereo, turn the Bass and Mids as low as they can go, Turn the Treble all the way up, this is what you get from these speakers).

I love, love, love my new monitor! I’m not very techy, but I went from a 12” to this 24” and now I’m wondering why I waited so long to upgrade. Thank you!

    AWESOME

This monitor is on the far side of Awesome ! I wish I had known just how good Asus products were. Only had it for a couple of days so far but over the years I’ve had a few monitors. This one takes the “Blue Ribbon”. If it changes, I’ll come back and share with you.

    Amazing video, speakers are meh

This is definitely a great monitor in most ways. The picture is amazing in every way, no complaints at all under any usage conditions (gaming, movies, general use, whatever). However, I do agree with a different review I read about the speakers being horrible. Honestly, they should have left the speakers out. Even at max volume (and I mean everything at max: the PC volume, the monitor, the media player software), these are barely audible. I have bought incredibly cheap $10 desktop stereo speakers from the store which sound better and are MUCH louder. A good-quality $20 pair of stereo speakers would easily be better than the speakers in this monitor. Other than the speakers, this monitor is wonderful.Edit 2018-1-22:Monitor still works great. About the speakers, I found the sound was only as horrible as I described when using the dedicated audio-in port for a 3.5mm plug. If you use audio over the HDMI connection (I was using DVI & the 3.5mm input prior), it is at least reasonably audible. It still isn’t great quality so I still suggest a decent set of speakers (Logitech Z313) if you want anything more than to be able to hear sound from it. But you can at least hear sound at a reasonable volume, so you would be fine without external speakers if that’s all or more than you want. However, I don’t know any monitors with built-in speakers which will ever compare to external speakers, so you shouldn’t be expecting that anyways.

Great monitor, especially for the price

Great monitor, especially for the price. I’ve got two of these, one a few months older than the other, and the image looks identical. I only point this out because some brands of monitor won’t give you that kind of consistency. Furthering that point, my two monitors have an identical picture to that of my friend’s and his is over a year old. It has slightly different OSD (the on-screen menu for brightness, contrast, etc) so is very clearly from a different batch, but the picture is perfectly consistent with mine. The built-in speakers aren’t anything to write home about, but they’re not supposed to be. They’re perfect for an office environment or watching YouTube videos, good clarity of sound, no crackling or anything like that, but don’t expect much of anything in the way of bass. Think more along the lines of a decent set of laptop speakers. If it’s any kind of problem for you, there are audio input and output ports on the back so you can connect a different set of speakers and a mic. There’s only one thing I would change about this monitor, and that’s the stand. It offers limited tilt and no height adjustment… it does have VESA mounting points though, so you can put the monitor on whatever stand or mount you’d like. Since both of my monitors are this model, the lack of adjustability isn’t enough of an issue for me to dock a star. All in all, I’m very happy with this monitor. For ~$150, I really don’t think it gets any better than the VE248H. GG, ASUS.

Great value, good performance, and unlike many monitors, has internal speakers

I rate this 5 stars not because it’s the best monitor on the market, but because it’s a truly excellent monitor at an extremely low price. I paid $160 for it, not bad for a 1080p 24″ LED monitor. Has three inputs, HDMI, DVI and VGA. Plus audio in, because it actually has speakers. Not great speakers, but better than most monitors, since most monitors don’t have speakers.I have two of these on my desk. One is hooked up to a $15 Chinese HDMI switcher that has a remote control. So my laptop can drive either both monitors, or just one, if I switch the HDMI on the switcher to the cable box. That’s where the built in speakers come in handy. So now I can work and watch a little news once in a while. If you want two devices, but don’t necessarily want to buy a switcher (I went out of my way to do that to get the remote control), it’s trivial to buy a HDMI to DVI connector (or mini-DisplayPort/thunderbolt to DVI connector) for your second device.Lastly, it’s a low end, cheaper monitor, but they didn’t skimp. Inside the package is a VGA cable, audio cable, and DVI cable. No HDMI cable, but those are by far the cheapest cables to buy if you price things around carefully.

STOP! Before buying this monitor READ THIS REVIEW!

Like all of you, I bought this monitor based on the glowing reviews from Amazon and newegg. I have been disappointed by some problems.EDIT!!!!: I decided to keep this monitor, despite the ghosting problem. It really is the only monitor on the market with the features (HDMI, LED) for the price point I got it for ($181 @ warehouse deals amazon). You’ll have to try it out and see if the ghosting kills it. Most non-techies prolly won’t care.1) BAD GHOSTING! Horrible. Terrible. This is a REAL problem! Don’t listen to the positive reviews that say it isn’t! If you don’t believe me, there’s an entire LEGION of users on the web that has this problem. The problem has been traced to Asus’s “overdrive” feature. You can go into the service menu (search for the video on youtube with this monitor’s model#) and turn it off, BUT when you turn off the monitor and back on, the setting is reset. Very disappointing ;(Here is a post on Asus’s own support forum. The response from Asus has been less than stellar -_-(Google for this problem. amazon won’t allow links). The problem is particularly noticeable when scrolling text with middle mouse button in a browser like IE/FF/Opera. The ghosting is so bad the text is unreadable. Also, there is a “overdrive” feature that can be turned off via a special service menu, BUT when you turn the monitor off anytime, the problem returns -_-2) Black backgrounds bleed a @*@$& of light! Tried every combination of display settings. The ones out of box are horrendous. An Amazon reviewer mentioned his specs, which was the best I could find as well.3) Viewing angles are subpar. I realize it’s not an IPS monitor, but :(Everything else is fine. For the novice user, it’s a great <200 USD monitor.

Outstanding Picture Quality – you can read the letters!!!

If you are like me, you need a good monitor (a bigger monitor) to be able to read the letters (as these smaller laptops) are more designed for someone with perfect 20/20 vision. Anyhow, when my last monitor broke, I needed an immediate solutions, so I went to my local WalMart and purchased a 24″ Vizio (it was a TV – I did not realize there would be a difference). I hooked it up and immediately found out there was. The videos looked amazing on it, but because I use my computer for work, I needed to be able to read the letters. All of the letters were blurry and hard to read. So I went online, watch some videos and found out there are many differences in “monitors” and “TV’s” mainly about picture quality. So I found this one. I just got it, and it looks amazing. Everything is so crisp and clear. Only downside, is the speakers. They function, but even at the highest volume they are not very loud. But that is okay by me, I needed a monitor, I have my own external speakers.

    Great Value For The Price

I bought two of these monitors and have been very happy with them. The price is outstanding and to make it even better, there is a rebate available as well.It has a port for HDMI, VGA, and DVI. I don’t use all the ports but it’s nice to know that I won’t ever need a converter for any of the three.Picture quality is excellent, but the default out of the box configuration is downright awful. It looks *really* bad. However, once I adjusted it, I’ve been nothing but impressed by the quality of the monitor. The monitor has a built in speaker. However, if you’re using it for anything other than listening to talk radio, you’re going to hate it. The sound is incredibly faint and tinny. That said, there is an audio out port on the monitor and it supports audio over HDMI. I have an HDMI port plugged into my Macbook Pro and then speakers plugged into the monitor. This setup works great and actually saves me a wire. All I have to plug into my Macbook Pro is the HDMI cable and it gives me the monitor and sound through real speakers as well.I mounted both of my monitors onto a VESA monitor stand. Installation of that was very simple. There are four tiny little screw holes with rubber stoppers inside of them in case you decide to use the included stand.Overall, extremely happy with these two monitors.

    Eh…

Had the monitor for two weeks, and am now starting to notice some less than exemplary features.First, yes there is ghosting, and no there is no definite fix. You can turn OD off in the menu, but it won’t save, meaning once you turn it off or it goes to sleep, it goes right back to being turned on.Also, I don’t know if this has been present since I opened it, but I just noticed some bleeding along the bottom edge. Blacks appear to have some whitish/blue light bleeding through. I don’t see how I couldn’t have noticed this, so I’m worried that it could possibly get worse and expand further up the screen. As for the color, I had no issue – colors looked fine out of box. The only thing I wasn’t satisfied with was the fact that the color temp was set to “User mode” with RGB all the way to 100%. You’ll want to bring that down to about 75 or 50, otherwise it’s just too bright, so much so that you lose detail – or just use normal mode. I tweaked the brightness and contrast on the monitor, as well as in Catalyst Control Center, and it looks absolutely splendid.Oh, and speaking of Splendid, the feature is absolutely useless. Don’t plan on using it. Seems like every setting over-saturates the colors to the point that the image becomes distorted. Just leave it on Standard mode. Also, when using HDMI, it wouldn’t fill the whole screen – there was about an inch of unused black space around the edges. I don’t know if this is easily fixable or not, I didn’t keep it that way for long, but it’s worth mentioning. I use DVI and it works fine.I didn’t test the sound, but other reviews state that it sounds like turd, so I’d go by that. I have a decent sound system hooked up to my computer so sound wasn’t a priority when I bought this monitor. The monitor arrived with no dead pixels, and exactly on time.Honestly, if you ask me, I’d skip this one. I’m going to RMA mine because the cons outweigh the pros in my opinion. I don’t want to calibrate my monitor every time I power on my system just to make it look the way it should have looked in the first place, so I’m giving it a pass. Not looking forward to being without a decent screen for a week, but I figure it will be worth it in the long run.

    Great monitor for the price

This is the first Asus monitor I have purchased so I was a little concerned. The three year warranty and decent reviews were enough to convince me to give it a try and I am glad I did. Out of the box the display was vivid, crisp and met my expectations. The controls are a slight pain to reach but once you get used to their location its not much of an issue. I’ve had like issues with HP and Dell displays so this wasn’t a disappointment. The one downside and its a very small downside is that the on/off LED is mounted on the bottom lip of the monitor. The room where the monitor sits is a bright room so its not easily to see the power led unless you are looking for it. Not a big issue but it would have been nicer if the led was mounted on the face of the monitor for easier viewing. I ran the monitor through some of the simpler video test that you can find on line and the default set up was close to the optimum settings so I didn’t have to change a thing. The speakers are on the small side but they work just fine for occasional use. If you are watching movies or a gamer you will want to get better speakers. I would definitely recommend this monitor.

    Third time’s a charm.

The initial order I placed arrived with two dead pixels. Amazon sent me a replacement the next day and the return service is really top-notch. However, the replacement also arrived with a dead pixel. I’m going to give it one last try before opting for a refund because aside from the dead pixels, the monitor is great. Yes, the speakers suck, but that’s not an issue for me. The picture and colors are great (some tweaking required) and I have noticed no ghosting issues. I would love to have one of these with working pixels!EDIT: Received the third monitor, this time with a “Quality Controlled” sticker on the box. Works great, noticed no ghosting with Skyrim, no dead pixels. I would give this 5 stars if it were not for the fact that the first two monitors were defective and would give it a lower rating because of the clear lack of initial QC (Why must you always hurt me ASUS? tf201 again? Really?) if it was not for the fact that the Amazon Customer Service was so great. No need for a lengthy hassle or time spent without a monitor. Tell them what’s wrong and a new one is in the mail the next day.

    Great picture but terrible sound

This display on this is great. Very happy with that. However, I bought this specific monitor because it also has a built in speaker. That feature has turned out to be a terrible disappointment. It sounds like a little old hand held transistor radio. The speakers on my laptop sound better than this monitor’s speaker. I was hoping to have at least decent sound from it but it’s just terrible. I guess I will have to get an external speaker or soundbar. 🙁

    Missing something important

Is this thing supposed to included mounting screws? If it does, mine didn’t have any. Why have a monitor with the stand included but not have the items to hold them together? I’d understand if it was the monitor only and you had to buy the other items separately but this is like a middle finger to me once I realized the screws were missing after I emptied the box. I was looking forward to setting up dual monitors today. Now I have to wait another day just to get screws.😑

Good for FPS, Set up was interesting, explained.

This monitor was a great price for a great gaming tool. I use it to play f.p.s. games like halo, cod, etc. It literally feels like you are right in the game with no screen lag at all. It was a great improvement for me over my old 32 inch 720p samsung lcd. It has a little bit of a learning curve. I tried to hook it up directly to my 360 without first hooking it up to my computer. It helps if you do this and do a quick color configuration. Once you get used to the buttons you will find a setting you like, The one thing I would like to see that it does not have is an optical digital audio out, it has an analog 3.5mm out which is ok, but eh. For a monitor the speakers are ok. It isn’t a TV and I think people forget that. Most people who listen to built in speakers wouldn’t even notice the sound quality. Haha. Basically, it is awesome. I would recommend it. The gloss black is nice as long as you have lots of micro fiber clothes for after set up. Overall it is a great deal for a quality Asus product.

    Good monitor, lacking color settings

Bought this as a second monitor to match my ASUS 27″ and it works great. The biggest issue I have with it is that the color profile and settings are a bit lacking compared to other ASUS monitors out there. If I didn’t know better, or this was my only monitor (or got two of these) it would be golden, but the 27″ I got has a massive color selection menu, and makes this one feel sort of dinky.Does not produce much heat, and looks great. I watch netflix/movies on it all the time as I have all my work piled onto the larger monitor for more real estate. Even when not working I tend to leave my movies on this screen.Would definitely buy again if I ever needed a third monitor, or if I was going to use two of these side by side with a different computer. For reference I am using it with the built in stand and do not use the built in speakers at all.

    Very satisfied!

Our old monitor started to simply go black in the boot up and there was no way to even try to fix it so my dad and I took a gamble with buying a totally new monitor (we were unsure if it was a Windows problem or just the monitor being old) and thankfully we were correct! I hooked this up a couple minutes ago, turned on the computer and everything worked perfectly! It was the old monitor causing the issue. This monitor came with all the necessary cords listed in the product description (DVI Cable,VGA Cable,Audio Cable,Power Cord & Adapter)The screen is beautifully bright and clear.Attaching the stand took about 15 seconds tops. You can adjust the tilt by unscrewing two screws in the back and slowly pushing back and re screwing the screws (they are small,be careful they don’t roll away from you)The speakers are wonderful! I’m not very picky with sound, as long as they work and sound decent then I’m sold. They sound really good. All in all, assembly is simple, you can toggle the screen settings, speakers are decent quality, size is wonderful! 10/10 would recommend.

    Good picture, horrible sound.

Good inexpensive monitor. The picture is quite decent. One small annoyance is the fact that volume and brightness controls share the buttons – so you may want to control volume from the keyboard (or using mouse). And then it’s the sound… Reviews were mentioning lame sound, and when you set the bar low it’s hard to disappoint. Hard, but this monitor managed to do it. Take some headphones from the dollar store and put them in a pizza box, that’s about how it sounds. Yes, it’s THAT BAD. My phone sounds better placed next to the monitor and that’s not an exaggeration. To make things worse, the headphones output has the low frequencies chopped off as well. I ended up attaching the sound bar of an old monitor.

    Great Monitor For The Price

Received and set up this monitor yesterday. Setting up was not that difficult though I had to use the DVI connection before switching to HDMI like other people stated in their reviews. Once I did, the monitor reset with crystal clarity. The colors seem fine to me once I selected theater mode. I did have to adjust the brightness setting down to 45 for comfort level.I took off one star for the clumsiness of the setting controls, and the terrible owner’s manual which I did not even use. And it did not have the warranty card enclosed the manual stated to fill out for the company’s warranty. I have been told I can do that on line.As far as the built in speakers, I do not use them since I have good quality external speakers plugged into my desktop.I was pleased at the security of the packaging for shipment and the unit had no damaged pixels. All in all, for my use, worth the purchase.

Over all performance a 5, set up and adjustment -1

I bought this monitor to replace an ASUS I’ve had for a few years that finally gave up the ghost. I have no real issues with the monitor itself, but I had hoped there would be a better way of adjusting the settings. The buttons on the bottom front of the screen are placed so they are hard to get to and unless you have a flashlight or a strong light at your back, the “labels” that tell you which button is which, are impossible to read if the monitor is on. That, plus the menus are almost counter intuitive and the instructions are impossible to read. It took me a couple of hours to get the monitor set up for the various games and programs I use. Over all performance a 5, set up and adjustment -1

    NO SPEAKERS!!!!

While the Amazon page says it has speakers, it does not!! If I had known that I would have picked a different monitor. Add to the fact UPS lost my first one, and I had to wait an extra 10 days to get a replacement, and I’m not thrilled with the whole ordeal. However, the image quality is great, so that’s a plus. For all the hassle of getting it here in the first place, and then translating the cryptic hieroglyphics that they use for assembly instructions into English, I’m not going to send it back.

Same great monitor, with slight improvements.

I come from a competitive gaming background, specifically fighting games. ASUS has always been the standard for us and this monitor doesn’t disappoint. This is the fifth product I’ve owned from them and my oldest monitor is going on nine years.I purchased this monitor for desktop gaming and 24” seems perfect for FPS games. The picture is decent, but not overwhelming beautiful. It has very low latency (2 ms) and performs very well. This model allows you to change inputs while the monitor is in rest mode, which is a huge improvement. The weakest part of ASUS monitors are the buttons. This will be the first thing to break on these devices, but should last 5-10 years of use. The speakers don’t have much range, but I use headphones anyway.Overall, I really like ASUS products and their consistent quality.

A+ from me! ASUS love them.

Not sure why some have quality control issues I guess its like that with most monitors but this is my second Asus monitor in 8 years ( my last one lasted that long with heavy use ) still works but needs warmed up for picture to become stable. Anyway, getting one with no dead pixels zero defects isn’t easy. I’ve tried all other brands that cost even more and they had dead pixels. I HATE dead pixels even just one. I refuse to accept a monitor that has any. Received this monitor, ZERO dead pixels, ZERO flaws anywhere function wise or external wise. Its also very light weight. Stand is super super easy to install with a quick release screw. I use the VESA mount so I have full adjustment on my desk. Picture is also very crisp n clear. Colors are dead on perfect with no adjustment. It will come too bright. Thats the only thing I had to turn WAY down. Brightness and contrast has to be adjusted but thats super easy. Thats it, great monitor!

    You will love this monitor!

After reading other reviews on here, I almost did not purchase this monitor. Seemed like you had a 50-50 chance of getting one that had issues or needed to be returned. But I took a chance and ordered this baby and am I glad I did! I read some of the reviews and wasted some time by initially trying to set it up with the VGA cable, which I read was a necessary step before using the alternative DVI cable. Monitor gave error message that VGA was not supported, so I switched that cable out with the DVI cable that also came with the monitor. Fired it up and it worked like a charm. I was really impressed with the “Splendid” option which is easily located on the front of the monitor. The colors were FANTASTIC! You can toggle through different setups, like “Game”, “Scenery”, etc. Since I am a gamer, I selected the “Game” option and modified the settings as recommended in some of the reviews. Got the colors perfect and have had absolutely NO problems. Try the “Theater” setting for watching movies! Very impressed with this ASUS monitor and highly recommend it! Fast refresh rate too!

Highly recommended. Good fit on a monitor arm.

I bought this monitor for two main reasons.First, I needed 100x100mm VESA holes with at least 1/4″ of flat space around them to fit my Amazon Basics monitor arm (http://amzn.to/2ABi6Qz).Second, because I was needing to move my monitor closer, to be in reading-glasses range, I needed a slightly smaller monitor than my 27″ Samsung. I found when I got reading-glasses close to that monitor, I had to swivel my head to take in the whole screen. I’d rather move only my eyeballs. This one fit both requirements perfectly. It has a VGA input (which I needed) as well as HDMI and one more, and had a very easy-to-reach power switch below the left edge of the monitor, for easy on-off. It was a perfect fit with the monitor arm, and now I can move the monitor to wherever I need it, very easily.Recommended.The settings out-of-the-box were perfect, and I have no complaints at all.

    OUTSTANDING!

UPDATE 3/26/13:I played: Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, Skyrim, Doom 3: BFG Edition, Far Cry 3, GOW: Ascension, Mass Effect 3, and they all looked great on this monitor. I love this monitor and I definitely recommend it.—-*So far I have tested 6 PS3 games with this monitor. (Note: the PS3 and Xbox 360 have graphics less good than high-end gaming PCs).*I received my monitor two days ahead of schedule (was shipped by Amazon).*This monitor is HUGE! and lightweight.*The quality of this monitor for the price is impossible to beat. What a deal!*I experienced no GHOSTING.*I’m using a HDMI cable I got from amazong for like a $1 and I compared the cable with the monster HDMI cable that came with my 60” hdtv and I saw no difference in graphics (you may check out my review on that cable).*Some of the PS3 games I played looked outstanding while others did not but this is due to the games themselves and not the monitor.*If you own a gaming PC you’ll enjoy higher graphics than us PS3/XBOX 360 owners.*My desktop screen looks true 1080p HD on this monitor; 1080p HD videos look great too.*The STAND that came with it is excellent; it allows to adjust the angle all the way down facing the floor or facing very up. Also, I put the monitor on my bed and I can freely move on my bed and this stand is so good the monitor barely even moves. Now I can play while on my bed and don’t have to be careful at all about moving around! Love the stand!*This product was packed excellently; very secure and professional. I received a brand new product.*The default display settings were horrible but after messing with it for a couple minutes I got a great display. The preset display called “scenary” was the only and best looking one (the others looked terrible). I did try the settings offered by the top reviewer here but his settings were almost exactly as the preset “scenary.”*The very first time I turned on the monitor, it was set to only work with VGA so I was forced to connect it to a laptop with VGA before I could actually access the monitor’s menu and change to HDMI and edit all the other settings.*The speakers are terrible but this was expected; very low maximum volume too (as expected).:::GAMES TESTED/PLAYED:::*Uncharted 1 & 2: this game is extremely famous for its outstanding graphics. I finished the entire game on this monitor. The game looked absolutely outstanding from start to finish! Incredible/perfect graphics. I am now playing Uncharted 2 and the graphics are outstanding.*Infamous 1: excellent graphics; both cutscenes and gameplay looked true HD. Uncharted takes first place hands down but Infamous is right there with beautiful excellent graphics.*Sniper Ghost Warrior: this game is known for its no-good graphics. This game did not look good but we know it is the game and not the monitor!*GTA IV: shockingly this game looked terrible on this monitor. The cutscenes looked outstanding in true HD but strangely while driving vehicles the graphics looked atrocious. I was not happy at all. I don’t know what is wrong.*Crysis 2: this game is very well known for its high-end graphics. The game looked excellent but not as outstanding as Uncharted. But let’s not forget that I played the PS3 version – the PS3 console’s graphics are limited and are not as high as high-end gaming PCs. Again, Uncharted wins first place hands down but Crysis 2 is right there at the top too.*Prototype 2: this game was criticized for its not-so-good graphics (e.g. IGN review) and it’s true. I played this game on this monitor and although the cutscenes looked true HD the gameplay looked sort-of HD. Again, this is the game’s fault and the PS3 console’s fault and NOT the monitor’s fault. Still I enjoyed and loved the game and it still looked great.*Modern Warfare 3: I only played a couple minutes of the game on the monitor but the game did not look as Uncharted and Crysis 2 and Infamous. This is probably because I am comparing in my mind every single game with Uncharted. I mean, Uncharted was absolutely incredible, and MW3’s graphics could not compare. But I only played a few minutes of MW3 on this monitor so perhaps it is too soon to give a final verdict.-I need to try Skyrim, Bioshock, God of War III, Dead Space 2, AC: Revelations, and Batman Arkham City, and I’ll report how the games look on this monitor, with the PS3 console.VERDICT: +5 stars. Love this monitor. I highly recommend it. The price + quality combination is unbeatable!UPDATE 9/17/12School started for me here in NYC (college senior) and I have NOT been able to play at all! I know I need to test especially Skyrim and Bioshock but I’m busy with school, schoolwork, and the gym (lifting weights 5 days a week). But when I can I’ll test the games!UPDATE 11/3/13:I have been busy and had not much time to play. I do have all the “top/best” games with me though, but I just have to find the time to play my PS3 games…I’m still happy with the monitor though. I was able to connect my iPad 4th Generation to this monitor with a cable (blacks ops zombies) and the game looked great. So I am still happy about this.

Outstanding Quality, Wall-Mountable, Gaming/Work monitor at a great price.

I am thrilled with this monitor. I plugged it in and it was instantly working perfectly. The picture is bright and crisp. The colors are vivid, without being too contrasty. The type on Word documents and web sites is razor sharp. Resolution and size are perfect for gaming too. The games I have tested it with all look amazing. It comes with the brightness on 100%, which is very bright. I adjusted this down to 50% and it is perfect for me. It is still brighter and sharper than my laptop. That is the only adjustment I needed to make.I chose this monitor because I have a very small work space and the wires on the back of the monitor face downward, allowing you to mount it directly to a wall. I mounted this to the wall with a 4 dollar picture hanging kit from Lowes. It’s a great option if want to save space on your desk. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. I highly recommend this monitor, and I would buy it again without a second thought. For the sake of this review, I tested the integrated speakers. At full blast, they are audible and would probably be okay for basic web usage (youtube videos, etc.), but I would consider them a bare bones, space saver only, and not a real alternative to speakers. If you want to listen to music, or you need quality audio, you will still need speakers. But as a monitor only (which is how I use it) this ASUS is excellent.FYI, this monitor comes with 3 cables: VGA, DVI and 1/8″ audio patch cable. (even if you don’t need the speakers, it’s nice to have an extra 1/8″ audio cable)I Chose Amazon’s free shipping method and received it in 3 days.Awesome!

    An excellent low-cost monitor

I have owned the monitor for a few weeks now, and it has performed flawlessly. I use it as my computer monitor. I do not watch movies on it, and I have not used the built-in speakers. My monitor came with no dead or stuck pixels.Amazon shipped the monitor in its original box from Asus. It was left on my doorstep by the delivery person. I am glad no one saw it there and ran off with it.Attaching the base to the monitor is very easy and requires no tools. The base attaches securely, and is fairly stable. The monitor’s screen has a matte finish, but the bezel around the outside of the monitor is glossy. Fortunately, the bezel is thin and unobtrusive. A single (thankfully dim) LED indicates the status of the monitor.Overall, I like the plain, unobtrusive styling of the monitor. I looked at monitors from a number of manufacturers, before choosing this monitor, and many have unnecessary cheap-looking details. E.g., a silver stripe along the bottom edge of a Dell monitor and a bright LED and lots of clear plastic around the edges of a Samsung monitor. This monitor has various display modes. Color balance and contrast are very different with each mode. sRGB and Standard modes work best for normal desktop use. I originally used sRGB mode, but the monitor was too bright in my relatively dimly lit room. There does not seem to be a way to adjust things like brightness and contrast, except in Standard mode (but I could be missing something). No matter, Standard mode offers a wide range of adjustments, and I was quickly able to adjust the display to my liking. The control buttons along the bottom edge of the monitor are no more or less intuitive that those of other monitors I have used in the past. The viewing angle is as good as other monitors I’ve looked at in this price range.I have owned and used a number of LCD monitors over the years, and I do not think that this monitor displays any more ghosting than these others. Perhaps there are higher-priced monitors that do not suffer from any ghosting-like artifacts, but I suspect that this monitor is just as good as others in its price range. This is a good monitor.Regarding ghosting, I watched a number of YouTube videos that show the “ghosting problem” with this monitor. The ghosting was actually more pronounced when I watched these videos on my old HP LCD monitor than when I watched them on my new Asus monitor. I suppose this means that my old monitor (which was very expensive when I bought it) had more of a ghosting problem than this monitor. It does not pay to obsess over these things. For the price, this looks to be a very good monitor, and I have no reservations recommending it to others.

    Nice Monitor – Reasonable Price

Very mice monitor. Great Colors. Sharp. My only complaint is that it doesn’t swivel as described in the listing. If you want to turn it side to side you have to turn the whole thing. Base included. That’s not really the definition of “swivel”. Usually the base remains and just the screen swivels. Otherwise I’m happy with my purchase.

    A non-gamer’s review

I am not a gamer, nor do I do any serious video work, so I am not in a position to review this in terms of what many may find most important. Indeed, my vision is far from perfect and I suffer a form of color blindness. So if you want a review of the finer visual qualities look elsewhere. All I can usefully say about its visual quality is that it works great for my needs, with clear, sharp, bright display. So I will instead talk about features that matter to me.A great stand with easy setupTypically, when I get a new monitor, I have to fiddle with assembling the stand and attaching the monitor to it. An unpleasant chore that delays me actually getting to use the thing. And after working with the typical stand for a few days, I find myself ordering a separate monitor desk mount (which in turn needs to be assembled.)But the ASUS VA24DQSB stand was the easiest out of the box setup cabling that I have ever had. By far. Furthermore, the stand actually has the tilt and rotation flexibility and solidity that I need. This saves me having to get a separate monitor mount, and I really had this thing usable within a couple of minutes of opening the box.The cable management guides on the stand are also correctly less ambitious than others I’ve seen. Instead of attempting to completely conceal cables at the expensive of complicated setup and difficulty in changing things around, it takes a very simple and straight forward approach. The only downside I can foresee of having this stand is that heavier than what is typical. That might be an issue for shipping or moving it about, but if so that would be a minor one. It is only an issue if you plan to mount the monitor and so the benefits of the stand would be wasted on you.Connectivity saves on cables and adaptersDisplayPort, HDMI (and VGA) mean that I unless I were in a DVI world, I don’t have to worry about adapters, making cabling easier and means that I can use it easily on a broad range of devices now and in the future. I happen to be using it via HDMI from a Mac mini, but it is not wedded to that host. The USB hub give me 2 USB 3 type A ports in a convenient location. Again, making cabling easier.I realize that the features which most immediately appeal to me after having this for less than a week may not be what matter to others, but I do hope that this is useful for some.

Modern features in a higher-cost package

This is the upgraded model of the VA24DQ, which was released about 18 months ago and can still be found on Amazon, though as of this writing it is no longer in stock. This model features everything its older sibling does – the 23.8-inch IPS screen is still great, it still refreshes at up to 75MHz, still does FreeSync/AdaptiveSync, still has a DisplayPort connection, and still has a pair of (admittedly weak) speakers. In addition, it also features a sturdy stand which not only allows you to tilt the screen and adjust its height, but also allows you to rotate it 90 degrees into a vertical position – useful if you need to do something like look at a long length of text all at once. There’s also a swivel mechanism but it’s kind of a half-baked lazy susan built directly into the underside of the base of the stand – for practical purposes here you’re really just rotating the entire stand and not the screen. There’s also an onboard USB hub that connects from your computer and allows you to attach two USB devices. This is useful in the ways you’d expect a USB hub to be – it reduces the number of wires I need to connect directly to my computer. It powers a mid-range Logitech webcam and a numpad just fine. The arm of the stand comes already attached to the monitor’s VESA mount. The base attaches to that via a screw you can tighten by hand. Package ships with power and HDMI cables only. You’ll need to acquire a DisplayPort cable separately. We can probably thank tariffs, the prolonged pandemic and the resulting demand/shortages and supply chain issues for the only real cons I can think of:Prices for computer parts have gone up across the board, some sectors more than others. While an IPS panel is certainly no RTX 30, monitors have not escaped this. When it was in stock the Amazon listing for VA24DQ went up a full $40-plus – over 30% – from where it was when I purchased it last year. In light of that, this model’s listing price of $179 also seems a bit pricier than it ought to be.And then there’s the stock issue. If I had a choice I would have just gone with the lower-spec VA24DQ, since I was completely happy with that, but it simply isn’t available anymore at a reasonable price. As I write this, the current model is also out of stock – it seems it’s been in stock only intermittently – so I consider myself fortunate to have been able to even get this one at all.Make no mistake though, I’m completely happy with this purchase. I’d needed a USB hub anyway, and it’s nice not having my screen wobble when I bump my table as would happen with one of those cheap one-piece stands that commonly ship with budget offerings. I just wish the circumstances surrounding this were a little different.

Great for productivity and reducing neck/eye strain

I bought this monitor for a standing desk. The dimensions of the screen are perfect for opening two word documents side by side. I’m able to work on it for extended periods of time without eye strain. It’s a little heavier than my old, slimmer, monitor but the ability to tilt and move the height with such ease is completely worth the extra weight of the stand required to do so. There are no knobs to twist to adjust it or keep it in place, just move it or tilt it where you want it and it stays. The only negative is that the rear speaker is ridiculously poor quality. I’d suggest picking up some desktop speakers if sound is important to you. I would definitely recommend this one.

    Image is 22.25″, not 24″

This monitor was simple to attach a VESA mount to (not included) to add to my multi-screen setup. Hookup was a cinch, as it typically is with a computer monitor, and the connection options were a plus. I just wanted the cheapest 24″ 1080p monitor with VESA mount I could get, as I’m just streaming investment newscasts to it and not games or shows. I don’t think it would be very good at gaming though, as it is built to the lowest viable capability, and the picture is neither smooth nor high-contrast. The most obvious shortcoming to me is that the picture is much smaller than the screen, leaving a big, glowing, gray area around the picture. The viewable area is 22.25 inches, and the distance from the corner of the image to the corner of the frame is about 2 inches. I probably wouldn’t be as bothered if my other screens – though very outdated and lacking modern features – weren’t of good quality. If you’re really strapped for cash, or the application doesn’t require much more than seeing your desktop (like a server terminal), then this monitor will work, but it would probably be a better idea to get a used monitor of higher quality if you’re going to play games or watch shows on it.

Was Disappointed at First, but my Mind Changed

To be upfront, this monitor turned out better than my initial impression. I have it sitting as my second screen for my old Asus laptop, which is about seven years old. At first there was a huge contrast between the both, and the monitor was below the picture quality of my old laptop. After tinkering with the different modes, I came to find scenery mode looked quite good, and the blackness showed a lot better in this mode than standard or gaming modes. Two things I don’t like about this screen are the viewing angles. Unless you’re looking at this screen dead on, then it loses contrast quite a bit. The other item I don’t like about this monitor is the crappy built in speaker. It was highly unnecessary to include one in this screen. I didn’t knock my rating down for the speaker, as I will not utilize this feature. I only tested this out with Street Fighter IV and it seemed to be good, with no ghosting or anything like that. Did the job albeit SFIV is a pretty old game now.

VESA compatible. Standard ASUS quality. Good monitor :).

I have been a fan of ASUS for years now. The motherboard in my tower and my father’s tower are both ASUS. My monitor is ASUS and now so is his as this was a gift for him. According to him the monitor is very nice. It’s bright and colorful even on a VGA cable. I was able to connect it to a VESA mount with ease and it has hung up on its mount stout ever since. The included DVI and HDMI cables are also handy and will likely find a home somewhere else in the future. I can’t speak for the standard stand attached to the monitor as it was immediately disconnected for the VESA mount.I can’t speak for its ability to play games on either but I imagine if it was anything like my old ASUS (Similar models but this one is about 7 years newer) then it will do just fine for standard gaming. If you want something better then you should look for something with a higher refresh rate. ASUS sells those too and hopefully someday I own one of those to replace my aging monitor!

Excellent Monitor. Buyer Beware: Their Rebate Program is/was run by a 3rd party who does not pay out.

I have purchased and owned ASUS products since 2007. The quality of their products are excellent. This is the second ASUS 24″ monitor that I have purchased. The first one I purchased in 2014. Both are no issues that I have encountered. I’ve read about “ghosting” in gaming, but haven’t seen it with my monitors. Now, for the bad news. With most ASUS monitors, they offer a $20 rebate. The first monitor I purchased was on another website. The rebate process is full of hoops, and even after providing proof of purchase, serial number and giving all the requested information, I was actually denied the first time! Yes! DENIED! I had to call the online shop I purchased it from to help. After a few months, I was approved. I was told I would receive a Pre-Paid VISA in a couple weeks. After 6 months it never arrived. So I called the online shop and received some disturbing news. ASUS, and potentially other manufacturers outsource the rebate program to a 3rd party. They generally do NOT want to pay out, as they get to keep whatever money is left from the sold merchandise. This happened with this monitor as well. I sent in my Rebate form, waited 2 months, and nothing.

Great monitor but why add speakers?

Why they include speakers I don’t understand but basically don’t expect much from the speakers. They work but they’re definitely not what your paying for here. As for the monitor itself while I’ve only had it a day the colors looked great out the box and I didn’t have to adjust anything. If I wanted to nit pick I could adjust the colors slightly but that would be more personal preference than an issue with the monitor itself. The Splendid button has its use as it appears I can customize settings for different uses, IE- Movies, Gaming, Night, etc., but the stock settings work rather well. Again I could nit pick personal preference but out the box works as good as I’d hope. It doesn’t give off much heat compared to my older LCD monitor, which is nice, and if it holds true about power consumption a nice bonus.I got the item the day before initially told when I ordered so props to Amazon for that. The box had a slight dent in the corner but very minor that it didn’t even phase me and once opened the styrofoam packaging wasn’t affected at all. I didn’t read up on what came in the packaging as I already had cables to hook it up to my computer and was pleasantly surprised when it came with an audio cable along with the typical VGA, DVI and power cables.I could knock it one star for the speakers but again that’s not why I purchased this monitor and so far it performs up to snuff for me.Great work ASUS!

Easy to use presets that work in most situations.Brightness is high enough I can easily read text on my screen in a week lit room next to the window.I use this as my primary monitor for work and personal. The multiple inputs allow me to hook up three different computers and add two convenient usb ports for my personal computer.Sounds isn’t the greatest, butt if you are buying a monitor for sound, well…The minimalistic boarder and ease of adjustment on the stand are much appreciated extras with this monitor.I highly recommend this monitor for the casual gamer or workstation. I’ll be buying a second so I have matching monitors in my setup.

    A reasonable quanity LED monitor

My plan was to replace my 7yr old 20″ LCD DELL Ultra-sharp monitor. I received it last night, a day earlier than Amazon indicated. I am happy with the picture quality… ABSOLUTELY no dead pixel at all. If it were not for the following 2 minor issues, I would have given it the 5 star ratings:1. tiny speaker (I should have known it as on Amazon site, it says 1W speaker). The sound is tiny despite having the volume turned to 100%. I shall be looking for an external speaker to complement this monitor.2. The OSD (On Screen Display) menu is not intuitive. There is no user manual to accompany the package. I searched in vain online for it. Finally I played with the various buttons to get the settings I wanted (I ended up writing down the steps for future reference). And, once you hit the wrong feature, you have to wait for the OCD to time out before you can choose another feature. I actually turned off and on the unit, to by-pass the OSD auto-time-out. This is not a major issue as once I have configured the features I prefer, I will hardly go back to use the OSD again. But don’t let the above 2 comments discourage you. Basically this is a great monitor. For the price, I consider it a steal.

Good for office or secondary screens

I purchased this for use as a secondary monitor. The reason I got this one specifically is because you can rotate it to portrait view. That is helpful with working on code or large data sets in Excel I am sure. Things I like about it is the fact that it can rotate, uses an IPS panel for viewing angle flexibility, and it seems to be gentle on the eyes with the anti flicker feature that pushes the refresh rate from 60hz to 75hz (you have to set that part yourself).I have a gaming monitor as my primary, this one is secondary. it works well for that. I am sure in an office setting this would be a good primary monitor and would probably look nice in a dual screen setup.I have not bothered testing the speakers, but I don’t have high expectations for them honestly.

Don’t buy it for the speakers and plan on being frustrated with the controls!

I got this in early February 2013.The built in speakers are useless. In order to hear them in an average room with negligible background noise you need to stand up and put your head over the monitor. NOT a very practical way to use the monitor. Please understand I have worked in electronics for over 30 years. I know audio and I know PC’s. For 10 years I owned a service shop that serviced all kinds of audio equipment from clock radios to high end audio equipment and I worked on my share of them as well. For the last 20 years I have been building, rebuilding and supporting PC’s.I put it on a brand new Win 7 PC I was setting up. I was new to the PC, monitor and the OS so originally I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought it must be a setting I had not found. I thought Asus was a great company and made great products. I have used their mother boards often and they are always rock solid and highly respected by others as well. I was too busy to figure out the problem right away and connected some old speakers until I had time. Of course when I finally decided it was the monitor it was one day past the return window on Amazon.I contacted tech support through customer service and they were very nice, but in the end insisted it was normal saying it only has 1 Watt of audio for two speakers. I responded that most cheap clock radios have 1/2 to 1 Watt of audio and one speaker and they produce way more sound. They added these speakers were not intended for normal use. That must be about the dumbest comment I have ever heard from any tech support and I see nothing in their specs or ad saying don’t expect to actually use the speakers. I finally gave up for the time being and let them go.Then I examined why this was happening if it is normal since 1 watt should produce adequate sound levels. My conclusion was POOR DESIGN. The speakers are buried in the top of the case with only very small narrow slits for the sound to get out through and they are pointed straight up. Thus if you position your head directly above the monitor the sound is usable although not loud even at full volume. Armed with that understanding I figured they had to know this was an issue, because every unit is bad so I called customer service again. After much discussion with customer service and pointing out my background and what my analysis of the problem revealed they offered to send a replacement. Given what I had found it seemed useless, but I figured at least it would show I tried and I could confirm it was the design and maybe that would earn me something. Again very nice and put it through a program where I would return the one I had after receiving the new one. The new one was indeed exactly the same as the old one, so I just returned it.I called customer service and told them I wanted an exchange with a different model that actually worked and offered to pay any difference in price. Again they provided nice but useless help. They directed me where to put in my request via their web site. Apparently it was the electronic equivalent of the trash can. I got an acknowledgement they received the request and never heard from them again even though I inquired two or three times over the next three months. The audio is not the only poor design on this product. The controls including the on/off button are all on the bottom. This makes even the lighted on/off button difficult to find. The other controls are VERY frustrating to use. They are totally hidden in any half way normal viewing position and you are supposed to know which control is for what by the markings on the front surface. Unfortunately the labels show up much better in the picture on Amazon than they do on the real product. If you look closely at that picture you will understand how that is the case. The controls on the bottom are visible and that is only possible from a point directly in front of and below the level of those control labels. From that angle they show up better and with bright lighting to take a good picture they hide the issue. The labels are a light washed out silver against the black background and seem to be getting lighter as the months go by. Unless I shine a fairly bright light directly on the face of the monitor they are unreadable. So unless you plan to use it in a brightly lit lab or picture taking environment be prepared to have a flashlight in one hand while you make adjustments with the other hand. The best thing I can say about this monitor is the display works fine. They seem to have gotten that right and I gave it 3 stars because of that.I will NEVER buy another Asus monitor.

A great monitor that doubles as a pretty good HDTV, with a couple of quirks

This is a really nice monitor, and with its integrated speakers, actually works pretty well as an HDTV.First, the image. It is very very good. I would hold back from saying that it’s stunning, because at times it can appear either washed out or overly saturated, depending on how the “Splendid Video Intelligence Technology” is set. With the push of a button on the bottom of the bezel, you can switch between a number of settings such as Theater, Scenery, Night Viewing, Gaming, and one or two more. Each of these settings adjusts the contrast, saturation, brightness, etc. and can make an average looking image look very nice. And as a monitor, this works very nicely. But when using it as an HDTV, or when viewing movies from your computer, it can be a pain to change, since there is no remote control (of course). The monitor can be quirky when viewing dark scenes, since it has an irritating “feature” of turning the power off to the screen when it senses low/no signal coming through. At first, I thought the dark scenes in a movie were extremely extended, then I realized that the monitor had actually gone into power saving mode! By adjusting the aforementioned Splendid Video Intelligence Technology to a brighter mode, this no longer happened. Also quirky are the controls. For some reason, Asus decided to make the volume and brightness buttons the “+” and “-” functions for the menu as well as volume and brightness adjustments. Sound confusing? Well, it sure is. For example, when in the on-screen menu system, these two buttons serve as the up and down controls for various selections. When NOT in the menu, then they serve as “smart” [sic] buttons for controlling the volume and brightness. But to change the volume, for example, you first have to press the volume button, then press it again to lower the volume or press the brightness button to raise it. Likewise, to change brightness, you first press that button then either volume to lower, or brightness to raise. Let me tell you, getting the volume to adjust when you first get it is a confusing matter. To add to that, the two buttons aren’t even located next to each other. There’s another button that’s used to make your menu selections in between them.I don’t know why they couldn’t have just made separate “+” and “-” buttons dedicated to that purpose. Also, the buttons are located on the bottom of the bezel, which makes finding the right button somewhat confusing, especially in the dark. I much prefer buttons on the side of the bezel, like Dell monitors have. But maybe that’s just me.All in all, a good product once you get used to operating it. If it weren’t for the silly button design, and a couple of display quirks, I would have given this five stars.

    For work, a practical monitor

After looking at many monitors, I decided upon this one. Mainly because of the flexible, pivot, tilt, swivel, and height adjusting features at this price point. And because it has USB ports. It looks sleek and professional as well. Has speakers too. It is only 75hz, so probably not for gamers or serious content consumption, but for a work from home setup it does the job well. I could see this monitor being part of a multi monitor setup if you got more than one of these.

    Used: Acceptable is actually acceptable

Good quality videos, texts are much easier to see, and helps the eyes if in front of it all day.Bought a used one from the warehouse and it works fine. Only problem is the small backlight bleeding top center when turning on/off but it’s not noticable when watching Prime Video programs.-no speakers

Decent web surfing monitor for the price. Don’t buy it for the built in speaker.

When someone mentioned their iphone has better speakers, they literally weren’t kidding. When you read how bad the speakers are, you have to understand no one is exaggerating. I only bought this monitor to use for my PS4 slim in my office, since the PS4 slim does not have an optical out, I figured to get a monitor with built in speakers. It definitely is one of the worst speaker you will experience in your. Not a big deal since I frequently move my system to the living room on my big screen. So it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. But let’s talk about the good stuff.I like how you can connect DVI and HDMI and select between the two with a press of a button. Ok, that’s the only really good thing about this monitor. On a side note, its kind of a bummer that the monitor doesn’t save the settings between inputs. Let’s say you want game mode for HDMI, well, you have to manually choose game mode every single time. So yeah that sucks. You get what you pay for, you have to come to terms with that. Color reproduction is sort of annoying on this monitor and it is on the cheap side, obviously, having a hard time trying to calibrate the colors to match my more expensive monitor. To be fair, this is my first LED computer monitor- it seems way too bright even when I drop down the brightness to 25/100.Anyway, as stated, for the price it is a decent monitor. For anyone wanting to do artwork or graphic design, what are you doing looking at this monitor, I’m sorry baby, you’ll need to shell out more dough for that. Anyone who just wants to surf the web or play on their HDMI console (but not using built in audio), this one’s for you.

    Beautiful

Despite the many positive reviews for this monitor I was a little scared to order any monitor sight unseen over the internet, especially with how other users prefer different screens. I myself seem to land somewhere in between the matte and glossy crowds. I don’t want the screen glare or constant smudges from the glossy monitor, but I don’t want my screen to look like I’ve got a screen door in front of my monitor either. This monitor is a perfect combination. It’s bright, beautiful, crisp and clear. It was easy to customize with Windows to adjust the colors and brightness and came with DVI and VGA cables so I was able to connect in a snap. There isn’t a dead pixel anywhere and all in all I’m very happy with the monitor, it’s a wonderful upgrade for me.The only downside is the speakers. I opted for this model hoping to replace the terrible cheap pair of speakers I’ve been using for years on my PC, I was expecting something comparable to either my cheap speakers or what I’ve gotten used to from television sets. These speakers were terrible. Even at the highest volume it was hard to hear and the sound clearly suffered from the tin can syndrome. I honestly get better sound out of my smartphone and tablet! It’s a minor gripe and I was able to hook my old speakers back up. However, if you’re going to sell a monitor with speakers the review has to take that into consideration. If you already have speakers for your PC opt for the slightly cheaper speaker-less model. All in all I’d still easily recommend this monitor. Without the speakers it’s an easy five stars, with the speakers it’s got to be four.

Good Value for an HD monitor

Set up is easy and straight forward. Stand is adequately adjustable for my requirement. Clear, sharp screen. The only reason I didn’t rate it a 5, is the USB ports. It appears they are only good for charging a device. I’m still learning about that feature.

    works good

No complaints. Not used for gaming, but as a screen for a computer at work. blue light filter and better resolution is a nice upgrade from what was used before. No idea on speaker quality.

    Solid Value, Mid-Tier Gaming Monitor

I purchased this for a 40% discount, so I factored that into the rating.First, the package was properly sealed with no concerning damage to the box and delivered on-time (2-day Prime delivery). It was delivered in the product box, so I wouldn’t have felt comfortable leaving it outside for a long time. The good news is that this was made known at time of purchase. The monitor has a sturdy base and has a sheen on the edges and on the base itself. This attracts a lot of dust and also shows scratches easily; I tried wiping off some fingerprints from setting it up with my sleeve and it left several scratches. No big deal, but that’s not really ideal either. The inputs in the back are well marked, but the HDMI input seemed a little tight. The power cord is also a little short (probably just 3 feet). The icons for adjustments are intuitive and it’s very easy to make adjustments, which made the setup very quick. When I first turned it on and hooked up to my PS4, I needed to set it to HDMI as it was on VGA by default.I bought this primarily because I have a Asus monitor and it performs very well. Also, built-in speakers were important so I could enjoy gaming w/o more wires from external speakers and so I didn’t have to wear a headset constantly. The sound quality is okay, but I had to really turn up the volume (65/100) to notice the sound.Overall, the monitor does its job and is definitely worth what I paid for it.
