Good monitor for remote work or a family monitor

Good color accuracy, 4k resolution for youtube videos, lots of ports, adjustable screen, and easy to setup.Only weakness is the speakers are mediocre. Fortunately, I use headphones most of the time with good sound quality. If sound quality is a deal breaker, you can get decent speakers for $20 on Amazon.

Great monitor for Work and Video

Great monitor for work and video, easy to set up. The only disadvantage is that with my Dell Laptop inspiron 5570 I cannot use the monitor with USB-only connection, I still need to connect via HDMI. Validated with Dell support.

    Great monitor

I wasn’t ready to replace my iMac desktop and my son told me about using a monitor with my MacBook Air. This was a perfect solution and I love how much larger my screen is than before. I have always liked Dell products, so that was an easy decision. I also love the feature that allows you to raise or lower the screen. A great solution to my problem at a very reasonable price. Very happy and highly recommend.

Amazing panel with some other caveats

After playing with a friend’s new Apple Studio Display, I had to upgrade my ancient setup, but without spending $1600 dollars. I decided to give this $300 Dell a try. Frankly, I am blown away. Next to my Macbook Pro XDR display, this looks just a smooth and detailed to me with good contrast as Apple’s high-end monitor. Every app icon and the curves around typography are luscious. Images are well saturated and lively. It’s hard to believe it’s not 5K, though for some reason System Profiler does report it as a 5K monitor. It also says it’s only 300 nits of brightness but it looks as bright as my 500 nit MacBook Pro display. This is certainly better than the Samsung I have at work, which always seems washed out and bland no matter how I play with the calibration settings. The caveats are solely with everything besides the panel. The USB hub has only two ports, one of which is awkwardly on the bottom of the monitor, which would be great for a keyboard and nothing else. And you must choose between High Data Rate or High Resolution modes. At High Data Rate, I get about 145 mbps through a hard drive, but I can see some banding on gradient tests. On High Resolution, I only get 35 mbps through the hard disk, but the banding test looks perfect. The idea that I would easily plug two hard drives into here is not going to happen. There’s also an annoying light on the bottom I have to put some tape over. There’s a setting to turn it off when the monitor is on, but it’s always on when the monitor is in standby. The rest of the electronics world has stopped putting obnoxious, unnecessary LEDs on everything, and Dell needs to get with the program.Speaking of standby, the monitor shows a series of three error messages when you put the computer to sleep. This monitor needs to chill out and go with the flow. If the computer is turned off it should also go off without complaint. The stand is a tad bit wobbly and could be better.Don’t bother with the speaker—it’s terrible. The OSD menus are long and complicated. On Apple displays you just plug them in and they work without any OSD. I feel like a monitor should just display things accurately and shouldn’t need to be configured.I recommend the MonitorControl app for Mac to seamlessly change the brightness. Others recommend Lunar, but it’s far too complex. In sum, it’s not perfect but it’s surprisingly great for $300, the price of just the inferior matte coating on a Studio Display.MeasurementsΔE 0.92,Gamut coverage99.5% sRGB80.6% Adobe RGB88.6% DCI P3Gamut volume125.9% sRGB86.8% Adobe RGB89.2% DCI P3

Decent monitor purchase for office work with USB-C and VESAmount

A fantastic monitor for office work. Now – this may work well for movies or for gaming, however, I have just not used for that purpose so not in position to comment on it.My Setup:I am using this over VESA mount (100mm x 100mm). My VESA mount have weight capacity of 15 lbs and this holds very well with it.Features:USB Functionalities —USB-C port is being used to connect to my Macbook Pro. What is the good thing? It is charging as well as display. Compared to my old setup, I was able to get rid of “Dongle” to hook up HDMI and charger separate and now my table is pretty clean.Other USB ports are also connected to the “hub” – implies I can use my drawing tablet to the USB port (it is NOT USB-C) is connected with the monitor always and I can use as soon as plugin mac to the monitor. This is very good because my desk is almost clutter free now!My macbook was able to detect this monitor and setup was really breeze.Power Saving —When Macbook is closed down or disconnected, it auto powers off. Yeah, I know this may not be big deal – but to me it was. I do not have to touch practically monitor to do anything after installation!Color Quality —I am not pro in this department. However, I find it pretty good color compatibility with the Macbook’s original screen.Night Time —Night time feature is something I have not tinkered with. I would love to run this a bit yellowish while I work in the evening time. It is in my TODO list – especially I would want to use if I have to be with screen after 6:30 PM.Speaker —I used headphones the most time, I have not heard anything from the speaker when headphone is not connected. I am not sure if required HDMI or works with USB-C as well.Wishlist —I wish this computer had 2 or 3 USB ports on the left side instead of just one. Also, in terms of real estate, would be nice to distribute USBs across sides so that all cable (does not come from one side).Overall —I am pretty pleased with this purchase. I was able to upgrade from FHD to 4K with USB-C hub – get more “real estate” as well as work seamlessly with the Macbook pro. I upgraded myself from Samsung HD2333HD to this one.I have chosen after going through many many monitors configuration and reviews. This one was in the best location in the triangle of price, features and quality. Of course – spending $200 more would get much better monitor, if I had required better sRGB % – this would not be the best.If you happen to be in the similar situation like I did – I would recommend others to give this a chance.

Beautiful display and easy dual screen connection

The display is beautiful on this! I didn’t know if I’d be able to tell but it’s so clear. Also, the really nice thing with this monitor is the ease of booking up a dual screen to it – there’s no extra connection box needed, you simply plug the cord into the computer and into the monitor and a dual screen set up is up and working. This worked for both a Mac laptop and dell laptop, so it’s interchangeable and the monitor comes with the cord. Overall highly recommend! We got it on sale, so it was slightly cheaper than normal which was nice!

Almost Perfect Monitor for Home Use

I’ve had the monitor for almost week now but held off writing a review just to be sure that what I wrote is accurate from my perspective. This monitor is replacing a 13 year old HP 2310M which is still working well, just time for an upgrade. I had a bunch of Amazon gift cards after the holidays and my birthday and started researching monitors. In the many years since I last purchased a monitor it appears a LOT has changed…starting with the fact that for the first time ever it looked like I wasn’t going to purchase a new HP, and likely LG or Dell were going to be my front runners for a new 4K. Not being a gamer even during the height of the pandemic, my display is for web sufing, mild photo editing, emails, YouTube and an occasional movie, and it looked like a 27 inch was perfect for my needs moving up from a 24 inch unit.Humongous box arrives (and was not even taped….shame on you Amazon) but luckily everything was well wrapped and intact and the monitor was extremely easy to set up. Since I am using an almost brand new Windows 11 laptop, I hooked up through the provided USB-C cable, plugged a small ethernet adapter hub with three ports into a USB 3.0 port and fired it up. Beautiful color even in my home office which sits in front of windows and doesn’t appear washed out. I know the high tech folks like to play around with all of the controls and recalibrate everything, but for a normal person, it is pretty much a plug and play scenario which just works out of the box. As a real plus, I had hope that with the monitor having a USB-C port that my ethernet adapter was also going to work in one of the USB 3.0 ports but had read a couple of reviews that said it did not or would not…wrong…mine works perfectly and I’m getting full gig speed. I’m using bluetooth to connect my mechanical keyboard and mouse, so the set up for me is USB-C from the monitor to my laptop with a single cable to power everything…my ethernet adapter hub is in the rear port next to the USB-C connection and has a single port on its hub connected to power my monitor light bar. So in essence everything is powered through a single cable and I still have the open USB 3.0 port toward the front of the monitor to charge my phone, as well a couple of open ports on the ethernet hub if I need to switch over to wireless for my keyboard or mouse.I’ve used pretty extensively over the last week and have seen no signs of flickering, burn in or edge bleeding as others have reported. So all in all, after doing a ton of research and trying things out for the last week, I believe I have found a winner for my needs. To sweeten the pot, I managed to get it on sale for $299 and after using my gift cards ending up paying $0 for the monitor! Score!!!

Very good monitor without breaking the bank

I like the image quality on this 4k monitor and have tested it with different USB-C and HDMI cables and USB-C adapters. The speaker quality could be better (not a replacement for your AirPod Pros), but it does the job for video conferencing. Some reviewers mention that it seems wobbly, and I agree with that. I’m using it on a monitor arm and find it much easier to type in meetings without my webcam shaking like crazy. This is still a solid choice, and I’m glad I went with it vs. spending more than three times for the Apple display. It is much better than the standard/lower-end Dell business 1080p monitor.

    Works well with Mac Studio

I don’t use this for gaming but for daily work and video editing i have had no issues. I bought three of them and connected it to the mac studio. The usb c that comes with the monitor worked well with my mac studio and so far have not had any issues with it.

    Good display and speed

The product works as expected based on its description. The reason for removing one star is at times it doesn’t detect my mac after a sleep/stand by unless I unplug the power supply and plug it back. Switching the monitor off and then on would not do. I used to use an older Dell monitor in P series before with the same laptop and had no such issue. Also this seems to come with only one cable of Type-c but as I recollect the P series one gave multiple type cables so one might need to be aware of that.

What a great monitor! And it DOES work with a Mac.

Great monitor, sharp, responsive, bright. It solves all the connectivity issues by having power and video share the same USB-C cable, and that cable is included, and also with USB-A type ports built in it acts as a hub. You can plug whatever dongles you need into the monitor and they connect to the computer. I now have a free Thunderbolt/USB-4 port on the MBA that I thought for sure would be taken. The one thing it doesn’t have is a camera/mic built in, and the speakers were pretty poor. The speakers work over USB-C, but other reports say they won’t with HDMI. I have a small great sounding setup in any case and hadn’t planned on using the built-ins.And yes, in spite of the replies by Dell to the questions, it does work with a Mac with Apple silicon. I’m going to mostly use it with Zwift, a cycling training app that uses gaming tech. I set the quality level to full 4k UHD and it worked flawlessly. I could see the muscle movement in my avatar’s legs! No stuttering or anything.

About as good as the much more expensive Dell U2720QM monitor (I own both)

I have external monitors at home and work so I can just plug in my M1 Macbook Air and have plenty of screen real estate.I bought this monitor 6 weeks ago to replace an aging 24″ Dell monitor that had served me very well. But 4K monitors have been getting better and coming down in price, so it was time to upgrade.Last fall, I bought the more expensive Dell U2720QM monitor for my office at work. That one cost about $550 (and often cannot be found for less than $650). This one, the Dell S2722QC, costs about $380. I will be comparing them in this review, and – spoiler alert – this monitor, the QC, is pretty much just as good as the more expensive QM.Both the QC and QM models are 27″, 4K, have nice bright screens, and accurate vivid colors right out of the box. Both have wonderfully adjustable stands: there’s the usual tilt & swivel, and you can slide the screen up to a higher position (useful if the screen is plugged into a laptop and the laptop is directly in front of the screen on your desk) or to a very low position where the bottom of the monitor is an inch from the surface of your desk. But the really cool thing is that stand (for BOTH monitors) allows you to rotate the screen 90 degrees so it’s in portrait mode. That’s really helpful for some of my use-cases. It’s also useful to help you see the ports on the bottom edge of the display, when you’re plugging in cables – otherwise they’re hard to see when you’re trying to plug something in.Both of these monitors can replace a USB-C hub. Meaning, you can plug in several peripherals into the monitor and connect the monitor to your computer using just a single USB-C cable. Your computer will get power from the monitor over the same USB-C cable that your computer uses to transmit data to the monitor. And your computer will see all the peripherals that are connected to the monitor as if they were connected directly to your computer. These USB-C hubs are godsends for people with laptops that only have 1 or 2 or 3 USB-C ports. For this reason, I have used USB-C hubs for my offices at home and work; they’re not cheap, but they’re worth it for me.But the USB-C hubs take up desk space and have some cord clutter. With the Dell monitors, I don’t need the USB-C hubs any more. I donated one to my college and the other to a local church. Both Dell monitors have enough ports for me to plug in my printer, my external hi-fi speakers, my external web-cam for Zoom & FaceTime calls, and an external SSD hard drive. So why does the Dell U2720QM cost so much more than this Dell S2722QC? Well, the QM has one or two more ports (for the USB-C hub functionality) than this QC model. And, on paper, the QM seems to have a slightly better display, according to specs. But I have both, and I can’t tell a difference in video quality. Probably people who do a ton of photo and video editing could, but I have good eyes and I can’t tell the difference, and I don’t think most people will see enough of a difference to justify spending $200 more for the QM model.Oh, here’s one more difference: the cheaper QC model has built-in speakers, the more expensive QM model does not. I have to say, I really dislike the sound that comes from the speakers in the QC monitor; it is very very thin and tinny sounding, almost to the point of being shrill and annoying. My laptop speakers (which are not great) sound way better. And that’s a shame, because if you’re feeding video into the QC monitor from HDMI (for example if you plug a blu-ray player into the HDMI port), the audio goes in over the same cable, so the monitor really needs to have its own speakers otherwise it’s difficult to find a way to hear the sound.Bottom line: for most people, this $380 QC model is every bit as good as the QM model that costs $550 or $650 or more, even though both have a gorgeous 27″ 4K display and both have very useful USB-C hub functionality. And the stand’s flexibility is really useful.Highly recommended!

    Difficult to get started

The monitor arrived with absolutely no paper directions. The location of the places where cords are to be plugged in is extremely awkward. It was difficult to get the HDMI cords inserted properly, and it will be difficult in the future to unplug the various chords and replug them at a later date, — as for example might happen during the thunderstorm or very windy weather. The “hidden” buttons under the right side of the screen are not marked properly, and it is uncertain how to use them. It would’ve been nice to have an explanation how and when the UBC “C” port is supposed to be used. For example, are there times when the C port should be used, as opposed to the HDMI port? After finally getting it set up, it’s very pretty.

Best choice for Apple M1 pro

The color is good comparing to other screen with the same price range. Because it’s a 4k screen, so text looks sharper than 1440p screen. If you’re looking for a screen for Photo and Video editing and office work, this is the one to get. Do not buy the 1440p screenBut if you wanna buy a screen for gaming you should look for 1440p with 144hz

Excellent monitor for my 2023 mac mini

I love this monitor. The quality is excellent. The feature of being able to move the screen in any angle you want is so practical. I’m a designer so I need the colors to be as accurate as possible. This monitor has that. This monitor is also usb-c which is a must especially if you use Mac’s. Very well priced for the quality.

out-of-the-box defective monitor replaced with refurbished monitor

UPDATE 3 (OCTOBER 2023): This monitor did not last two years. It was treated with tender loving care, and it got only light to medium use. Now the display has a huge rectangle of strange colors and there are more subtle horizontal lines on the whole display. I don’t think paying about $400 for less than 2 years of use is a fair bargain. And I do wonder whether it died so soon because Dell replaced my new defective monitor from Amazon with a refurbished one. I think Dell needs to do better to deserve its reputation.UPDATE 2: As of now, I do regret purchasing this Dell monitor. With a monitor that arrived in un-usable condition (a constant high-pitched noise when the screen is not active), I thought the replacement monitor would also be new. But it is a refurbished one with a label from Dell outlet stores. (There are many scratches on the bottom but the outward-showing parts all look new enough for me. It’s the re-furbished innards that I worry about). I know it’s better for the environment to refurbish, but I stopped buying refurbished products years ago because I had gotten too many duds. (Also, chances are that Dell is selling these for cheaper at its outlet store than the new Amazon price I paid.) If this replacement monitor holds up and has a good lifespan, then maybe I will end up happy with it and with Dell. (The picture quality is excellent, and the set-up with Apple laptops is super-easy.) For now, what I can unambiguously praise Dell for is that the customer service on the phone was excellent and fast (after Amazon connected me to Dell). But if any of you also receive a defective product out of the box, I would see if you can get *Amazon* to send you a new one, and ask if you can avoid going through the Dell process.UPDATE: It seems I am getting excellent service on this defective item. After I was unable to get through to Dell customer service from the Dell website, I clicked on the Amazon button for service (in my order history). Amazon got me on the phone with a Dell rep. And Dell is responding in a very fast and convenient way. Instead of having to go weeks without a new monitor, they are apparently sending it immediately, probably the next business day. And I can schedule a pick up of the defective monitor from my home. So, both the Amazon and Dell people came to the rescue. (When I get the new monitor, I will try to revise this review yet again to increase the # of stars!)***Must be nice to get one of these that works! I just received the monitor yesterday. It makes a loud high-pitched noise every second that it is in sleep mode. It even keeps making this obnoxious noise for awhile after I’ve unplugged it. I would have let Dell try to help trouble-shoot before writing a negative review. But I think they deserve a negative review because their customer service is not available. (When I inputted the tag number for this device on their site, none of the three contact options–email, chat, phone–was available.) I think I needed to wait about 12 days to receive this delivery (not too slow for these times). Yet, now if I try to get a replacement closer to the holidays, I fear I won’t be able to get one for long past the time I wanted to be working with it.

    Compatible with MacBook Air M1

I had been looking for a monitor to connect to my MacBook Air M1 and finally found this gem after being recommended on Reddit. Most compatible monitors are insanely expensive, so I highly recommend this by if you’re in a budget and don’t want to go blind. Superior screen quality. I spend an insane amount of hours, both studying for grad school and running my business on the computer so highly recommend. You also don’t need extra connectors if you have an M1 which is great. Once you hook it up to your laptop, it also charges your laptop so you don’t need your laptop charger either.

    Great for WFM Setup

Slightly expensive for my dual-monitor WFM/ personal setup. Build quality is really good and it is everything I expected. No problems so far. I really like how it can charge my laptop and connect to the screen in one plug through the USB-C port; although this won’t be necessary once I have my docking station set up. Speakers aren’t that great but I wouldn’t expect great speakers from a monitor anyway.

Can’t find anything I don’t like about it.

I’ve been on the search for an adequate monitor to use with my work PC and personal MacBook. I was drawn to this one because many reviewers recommended it in place of the incredibly expensive Apple monitors. There’s a single USB-C port on the back, which transfers the picture (and also charges!) both of my laptops via the included cable. I’m currently just swapping the single cable between devices when I’m using one or the other, but there’s also 2 standard HDMI ports in the rear, if I decide to get a dedicated cable for each device. There’s a USB on the rear, as well, and one in the bottom left corner of the monitor. With the abundance of ports in the back and the easy adjustability, this monitor is exactly what I wanted. The picture is stunning, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, quality monitor without breaking the bank.

Makes a constant noise when plugged in via USB-C – Window positions are not saved

The media could not be loaded.

I purchased two of these monitors and each one makes high pitched noises when plugged in via USB-C to a MacBook Pro. As soon as I unplug the USB-C cable, the noise stops. The noise periodically changes, too, which is very distracting and annoying. The build quality is overall pretty good, and the picture quality is good except when viewing light colors against a colorful background- for example, dark red background with white text. The text looks terrible in these scenarios. All things considered, I like these monitors, but the sound is driving me crazy and I may have to return them for that reason. Unfortunately, since I purchased two of them and they both do it, I wouldn’t purchase this monitor again.** Update **An update after owning these for two months:Again, I would never purchase these monitors again. The noise is a constant disturbance. But aside from that, another thing that I’ve never experienced with any other external monitor on a Macbook is that the windows become rearranged after waking up from sleep. What I mean by this is that I have two of these monitors, and each monitor has 3 “desktops”. I have different apps all rearranged on each desktop according to my preference. Once the Macbook goes to sleep and I wake it from sleep- even if I don’t physically turn the monitors off- all of the application windows become rearranged to different desktops. Its is extremely annoying and cuts down tremendously on my productivity as nearly each time I wake the Macbook from sleep, I have to rearrange all my windows to where I wanted them.I really, really dislike these monitors!

    Great for Office Work

I purchased this as an open box like new. I was watching my budget and hunting for picture quality (for future photo editing purposes), but I was also looking for a monitor with an adjustable height. The order came in a timely manner, but as expected of buying an open box, the actual package of the monitor was worn if not haphazardly taped for security. But the monitor and accessories inside were packaged adequately with no damage. Setting up the monitor came with little hassle (aside from the color configuration, I’m still trying to find that perfect match, but for now, I’m content), and two months in, I haven’t encountered any problems.I can’t say much for photo editing as I haven’t set up the software to test the monitor. But just from eyeballing it, I can see the quality will be more than enough for my needs. I just do photography as a hobby even if I shoot in raw.

    Awesome 4K monitor

I am an algorithm engineer so I code a lot. A good monitor is important when I work from home. My PC is a MacBook Pro so it comes with an excellent screen. I don’t want to have another screen with too bad resolution. So 4K is definitely necessary for me. Another trait is this monitor can charge my MacBook Pro with a single USB-C together with its image streaming function. It is so convenient and I don’t have to remember to bring my Mac charging cable from my computer everyday. A bonus point is this monitor also comes with a speaker~ So I don’t need to purchase extra ones. This monitor is super easy to install as well. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and purchase.

    Charges my MacBook though USB-C!

This monitor is excellent! It fit my vesa mount great and looks amazing! The resolution is the best I’ve ever had so everything looks fantastic on it.A great surprise that I didn’t realize is that it charges my MacBook through the USB-C port that is used to connect my display! That takes away more cables and makes everything look super clean!I also love that you can set the USB ports to either stay on to charge your devices even when the display is off, or turn them off when not in use. I use this to power my led strip behind my desk for backlight and it turns off when I unplug my computer. What a great feature! So glad I picked this monitor over some other ones around the same price point.

Good monitor, some things to know if using on MacOS Monterey

Overall, the monitor meets my expectations. Some items to note though if using on an M1 Mac with Monterey 12.1. For some frustrating reason, Apple has decided to enable VRR for external displays that support the feature by default. This means every time you wake your laptop/monitor from sleep, the monitor will default to VRR 40-60hz which is NOT desirable. Some have reported flickering, I have not experienced this, but regardless, you want full 60hz at all times. There is currently no way to permanently disable this protocol at the time of writing this review. You will have to manually adjust the refresh rate to a flat 60hz every time. There is no way to disable VRR on the monitor directly in the OSD menu. Very frustrating, and am hoping either Dell adds this option or Apple fixes this.Second, you MUST switch USB-Prioritization to “High Resolution” in order to get full 4K 60hz RGB 30-bit. By default, it’s set to “High Data Rate” which caps the output to 4K 60hz ycbcr (24-bit I believe?) which is inferior. Took me a bit to discover this as it’s not explicitly stated anywhere. This does cap the monitors USB port to 2.0 speeds I believe, so there is a tradeoff involved.UPDATE: As of Monterey 12.2, the vrr issue has been resolved and the monitor defaults to 60hz. As a side note, install the app lunar on your Mac to gain access to keyboard controls for brightness and monitor speaker audio – works flawlessly. Very happy with monitor now.

Great monitor but not the speakers

I’ve been watching this monitor on Amazon looking for a sale. Then one day it was priced $155.24. I couldn’t believe it. I ordered it only to find it was not packaged in a Dell box. It was warranted by Amazon. Probably a return or something. I connected it up and it worked perfectly. Superb picture but the sound was rather tinny but definitely adequate, OK for voice but if you want quality sound there is a port on the monitor to connect your own powered speakers. The quality of the picture was what I wanted. I wanted sound but it wasn’t important that it be high fidelity. I got a great deal and I’m very happy with it. I bought a HDMI 2.1 cable for it. It came with a cable for a laptop which I didn’t use. It was super easy to assemble the stand and it is very stable. Easily adjusts to portrait position. Highly recommended.

    Perfect Match for My Needs

My initial impressions with this monitor are extremely favorable. I needed a second monitor for use with my Mac Studio and overall multimedia setup, which includes a 5.1 AV receiver with multiple HDMI sources including Apple TV, cable TV box, blue ray, etc.I connect my Mac via USB-C to this monitor’s USB-C connection and connect my 5.1 AV receiver to the monitor’s HDMI 1 port that supports HDCP 2.3 (and earlier) which is needed to support 4K copyrighted content. This monitor also has an audio output jack that can be used to connect to the AV receiver’s audio input which is needed since computer monitors don’t typically support HDMI ARC. I am thus able to use the HDMI and audio capabilities of this monitor and my 5.1 AV receiver as a small format home theater setup – right on my desk. I’m okay with everything being 60 Hz since that’s all the Mac supports. When I need 2 screens for computer use, but still want to listen to 5.1 audio, watch TV, stream content, I put the HDMI input from the AV receiver into the Picture in Picture (PIP) window while the rest of the screen is dedicated to USB-C display from my Mac.I could have also sent the Mac video through the AV receiver via HDMI to the Dell monitor, but I didn’t want to have to turn on the receiver just to use the Dell as a second monitor. My main monitor’s audio is sufficient for office tasks.I’m very pleased to have found this monitor because it checked all the right boxes for my computing and multimedia setup.

Great Monitor EXCEPT High Pitch “whining” noise in standby and even off connected to AC

Am I just that unlucky that I get two brand new deliveries from Amazon with the same problem? The first I received was beautiful worked perfectly with Del Inspiron USB C (all connections that came with monitor). But then as soon as the monitor f=goes into sleep mode, there is a super annoying high pitched “whirring or whining” electrical noise. I tried with/without anything else connected, in different outlets with/without power strip to no avail. Also I have other UHD Dell Monitors and no issues like this. I had Amazon send me a replacement for the first one and unfortunately the second replacement one has the same issues. I see other reviews on Amazon reporting the same noise and also on Dell support with no resolution. I called Dell and they say there is no service advisory for this monitor for antenna noise or such. Uhmm Okay. Buyer just be prepared to be disappointed like I was. If this monitor was silent then it would be A++++ because its beautiful picture and great connectivity. But alas… JC….UPDATE: Okay, for whatever reason I decided to be persistent and get the monitor replaced a second time (third monitor) and this one is totally silent. All condition with household placement and power constant but the third monitor did not have the electrical noise issue in standby or power off that the first two had. So you are playing a game of chance it would seem. My odds were bad because 2/3 of the monitors I received had the noise issue. But overall based on the people who reported the noise in these reviews as a percentage of total reviews it would seem your odds at getting a bad one right now are 5-10% . Buyer be informed and good luck.

    Great Inexpensive 4K Monitor

Not for HDR and adequate for gaming but the refresh is only 60Hz. Otherwise, the picture quality is sharp and I am using it to switch between a Mac and a PC. To do this I recommend plugging the Mac into the USB-C input on the monitor which will also charge a laptop. Plug in the PC to the HDMI. If you boot up the PC, it will control the monitor. You will need to shut down the PC to boot the Mac or awaken it from sleep to display to the monitor, though. My PC is the secondary computer that I use for things the Mac isn’t the best at doing.

    USB-C with problems

These monitors are a great economical choice. I prefer these to alternate, lesser brands.Unfortunately the USB-C provided charging leads to over-charging my MacBook Pro.When plugged into USB-C the laptop gets unusually hot. Even when the laptop is turned off and already charged to 100%, it gets very hot. I unplug it from the monitor and it goes back to room temperature. There is a setting on this monitor to disable USB-C charging when the monitor itself is powered off, but that does not help me for 8 hours a day when both are in operation. The only solution I have found is to FIRST plug into an authentic Apple wall charger, then secondly plug into monitor. This means that I never make use of the monitor-provided power, and the concept of a single-cable docking won’t work.I have two of these monitors and they both operate identically.

    I’ve had no problems

The reviews were discouraging: tinny speaker, some kind of noise, screen briefly fades to black…I bought it because it was a Dell monitor. My first computer was a Dell. I got rid of it after 8 years or so because I wanted a new computer, not because I needed to. I never had a problem with it. I expect the same of this monitor. If there’s a problem, I expect Dell to stand behind its products. So far, I am happy with this purchase. It’s just big enough. I was looking at a 32″, but I’m glad I chose this 27″; a 32″ would have taken over my desk. The speakers are fine, I don’t hear any noise, and the screen has not faded to black. Maybe I’ve been lucky, but things just seem to work out for me.

    Crisp, silent, and reliable

Overall this monitor is great. I use it in conjunction with my Macbook Pro and am very pleased. The only “gotcha” is that, to my surprise, it is not compatible with any Dell Soundbars. And the built in speakers aren’t very good. I like quality sound, and now I have to have some clunky external speakers that sit and take up space on my desk. I so wish that this model either came with good sound, or a nice speaker could be clipped right onto it.

Ours broke after 11 months of use. BUT……

These are our go-to monitors for a design studio. They work just fine for most image-heavy work as we do. However, after 11 months, one failed with a weird darkening in the lower and almost, the entire right side of the monitor.HOWEVER, I have to say that going through Dell to get this replaced was one of the EASIER processes I have gone through. I submitted my warranty issue online, a team member responded within 10 minutes with a set of questions testing the validity of my request; then came a quick set of directions and information about the return process and a confirmation that a new one was headed my way. After about 5 days, we got the new one, and returning the broken one went off without a hitch. What a great experience. Dell really supported their product, and I have had no issues with the process. Great response from their team. Thanks, Dell!!

Long time Mac user with a preference for glossy monitors. Wanted to make the jump to 4k screens and have been very pleased thus far with this Dell. A Perfect Match For My M2 Mac mini!

Some of the reviewers for this Dell monitor have reported issues such as screen flickering and buzzing noises when paired to a M1 or M2 Mac mini. I have experienced NONE of those issues with my monitor connected to my Mac mini M2 Pro. I absolutely love this monitor, the screen is crystal clear and the colors are bright and vibrant. Aesthetically speaking, this is a great looking monitor as well. All of these pluses at an incredible price point! I purchased mine from Amazon at $299.00! Now if I were to give this monitor a demerit it would be this: The controls for this monitor are accessed via a series of buttons located under the bottom bezel. You navigate through the various monitor settings by pressing these buttons. This is a clunky system, usable, but a little awkward to use. I would easily pay a little extra if Dell would incorporate a remote control to control the menu functions. But at $299.00 I’m not complaining!

    Pricey but high quality

I’ve been using three Dell 27″ S2722QC monitors all day for months, they’ve worked perfectly. Very good image quality over HDMI and Displayport, fine detail is very good, no eye fatigue, colors are natural. They’re a bit heavier than cheap monitors, and the sound quality is good for a thin monitor, but not good enough for gaming or music. Works well with Android phones and tablet through USB-C connection.

Wonderfully sharp image and text quality with wobbly stand and viewing angle issues

I’m reviewing this monitor after about six weeks of use.Good- Wonderfully sharp display quality makes text and images crisp and easy on the eyes.- Gets really bright, which helps those of us with aging eyes see small text better.- Color quality is decent for office work.- Really nice to plug in one cable that provides all the device connections and powers the laptop. USB-C hub works great with laptops that support power delivery over a USB-C connection, such as the 2020 MacBook Pro and Surface Laptop Studio (at slower 65W charge speed).- Stand allows perfect height adjustment for comfortable all-day use.- Can charge phones and other devices with USB-A port under monitor, even when display is off.- Draws less energy and produces less heat than older flat panel monitors that used fluorescent backlighting. Not So Good- The stand, while beautiful, is wobbly. This makes the monitor and a camera sitting on the top of the monitor wobble. Shake is noticeable to those you’re broadcasting to during a video call. Thankfully, the stand can be replaced.- Display has some viewing angle issues making left and right edges appear slightly dimmer than the rest of screen. About a two-inch strip noticeable on both sides. This is not unusual for IPS monitors, but is a little more noticeable with this monitor compared to others I own.I’m a long time Dell monitor user–bought first in 2008 (still in use in my household). I appreciate their quality, features, and price point. I purchased this monitor to replace a 7-year-old Dell P2715Q monitor. That monitor worked great, but it was time to move to something with a more modern USB hub to simplify and declutter my desk. Overall, I think this is a nice monitor with great features for the price.

Great monitor for newer M1 & M2 Macs

I recently switched from 2019 Intel Mac Pro to Mac Studio M1 Ultra. I was using 2 viewsonic 1920X1080 monitors which I was still quite happy with. I read about the scaling issues with the Silicon Macs, so knew that I might have to upgrade my monitors. I tried using the old monitors but text was very pixelated, so I purchased these Dell monitors after reading several reviews. They look great. I was trying to use the HDMI output from my M1 Mac Studio for one of the monitors, but could never get 60 Hertz refresh rate to work or RGB color. I have both hooked up to my Mac now with USB-C & they look great. I recommend using custom color balance. I have a calibrated broadcast monitor as my reference, so I know that the white balance is correct.

Good monitor for the price. Some advice for using with Mac Studio.

I’ve used Dell monitors before and liked them, and since this one was less than $300 on Black Friday, I ordered it as a second monitor for my Mac Studio. The main monitor is the Studio Display. I need accurate colors for photo editing, and Lightroom works best with 2 monitors. The was one trick need for setup. Initially, I plugged the USB-C connector for the Dell into one of the 4 Thunderbolt ports on the Studio Monitor. The Dell didn’t detect a signal and the Mac didn’t detect the Dell. I plugged the Dell in using an HDMI cable, and it worked fine. So then I plugged the Dell’s USB-C directly into a Thunderbolt port on the back of the Mac Studio. Then in worked fine. So the Dell might have problems if there is another device between the computer and the Dell in a Thunderbolt daisy chain.Compared with the Mac Studio Display, which is a 5K Retina display, the Dell has accurate colors, but as would be expected, they just don’t have the brilliance and pop of the Studio Display, which costs 5 times as much. However, getting accurate colors after calibration with my Color Monkey is better than what I had with my previous display (Philips) which looked nice, but the colors couldn’t be made to match up.So I’m giving 4 stars for now (will revise if the Dell develops problems in the next few months) but for the price, I don’t think you could get a better display. I like the number of input ports, and it also has some USB-3 ports which those using it with a laptop will find useful.

Flicker, unpredictable behavior with M1/M2 Macs

Great when it works, but unpredictably flickers such that it is unusable. There is a lot of chatter about this in various support forums; none of the “fixes” work reliably. The monitor will retain images from the computer, even after it has been power-cycled. Bottom line: doesn’t work reliably with Mac laptops.

Easy Install with Apple Mac Book Pro (MBP)

The new display is located at the rear of my desk so it is about three feet fomr my eyes, so I was concerned that I might have difficulty reading text at the higher display resolutions. I resolved that issue by selecting a resolution lower than the native display resolution, and by using a System Settings > Accessibility setting that allows me to easily magnify the screen by pressing the Control key and swiping up with two fingers on the track pad. This works well for me and I find it very easy to make the small text easily readable for me.It is also very easy to change to alternate resolutions through System Settings > Displays.I connect between the display and my MBP with the supplied USB-C cable which facilitates the video connection and provides charging to my MBP. I now have only two cables to connect and disconnect to my MBP – the display cable and an external (portable) hard drive that functions as my Time Machine Backup.I tried the internal speakers on the Dell display but they were not nearly as good as the internal speakers on my MBP. I also could not easily control audio volume from my MBP, so for me, the speakers are of no value. The display is bright and clear. I might have done as well with a lower resolution model, but this is one is working well for me.

    You call these speakers?

Nice monitor, but if you’re buying this model because it has built-in speakers you’re going to be disappointed. The speakers are useless as far as I’m concerned. I bought some inexpensive $24 Creative Pebble speakers and that fixed my problem. If I had to do it over again I wouldn’t get a monitor with speakers – period. I limited my choices by insisting on a monitor with speakers and I won’t make that mistake again. These speakers really are that bad – tinny and not loud enough even for speech.

This is a very good monitor. I bought it for the USB-C input and it works great with my laptop docking station that has only USB-C output for the monitor. I had a larger Samsung display before but it only had display port and HDMI inputs and it was causing a problem when coming out of sleep on the laptop: the monitor would not wake up until power cycled. This Dell monitor has solved that problem; it wakes up instantly when the laptop wakes up.The in-built speakers, however, are low output and tinny. Don’t buy this for the audio capability.Fortunately I have great speakers on my laptop so I am happy with the monitor.

Buyer beware: There are warranty issues

After having received the monitor, it certainly works well. However, when I went to register the monitor, I learned some things that impelled me to return the item.Upon entering the product’s number on the Dell website, it stated that the warranty was good on a date that was only 8 months from the day I received the item. After conversations with Dell, this is what I learned:First, the monitor’s warranty was one year; not all Dell monitors have a three year warranty! This was neither obvious, nor easy to get my hands on.Secondly, and more concerning, when one buys a Dell product from amazon, the warranty on the monitor started when the monitor left Dell! So, if a Dell product is held in inventory elsewhere, the warranty will start NOT from when you buy it, but from when the reseller RECEIVED it from Dell. So, in effect, I had 9 months of warranty on a Dell product that I received.I do not hold the retailer or Amazon responsible…this is a Dell issue..So, Caveat Emptor!

Pretty decent for the price but not excellent

So I am reviewing the 4k USB C variant of this monitor. And off the bat it has some problems. Like many I purchased it to use with a MacBook, and although it works, it has many issues. VRR just doesn’t work with a mac. VRR also doesn’t work with a PS5. As a researcher I spend a lot of time in front of a monitor every day, and I will say the colour reproduction is very decent and text is extremely crisp. I also occasionally use it with my PS5, as a casual gamer I must admit games look gorgeous. The style is rather chic and elegant, although the stand does make the monitor wobble a wee bit. Make sure to assemble it very tightly. As a user of the P-series and the ultrasharp monitors from Dell I thought this would be cheaply made and very consumer-level. I am happy to reoprt that is not the case. Although everything is painted plastic, like other monitors from other brands, this is very well built. OSD isn’t gret but it is easy enough to use.Big surprise for me was the speakers. They are pretty great. They do sound fairly bass-lacking but they get loud enough for video calls, and they don’t sound bad at all, I really like them.

Got these as dual home monitor setup on Prime Day for good price. Note that these 4K monitors are dependent on qualities of computer speed, memory and the computer graphics card. In addition, you must also have HDMI cables specifically suitable to carry 4K signal otherwise the picture quality will be less and you might as well go with monitors with less than 4K imaging.
