This thing is great!
We needed a small 32″ TV for a sitting room and this thing is perfect. There weren’t many reviews, but the picture quality is great and the Amazon Firestick functionality makes things even easier for what we need!We haven’t encountered any sound quality issues with it mounted on a wall-mount extension arm, but it’s a little muffled if pushed right up against the wall.For the price of this TV, I would buy it again!

TCL 40” TV
Great Television! The price was really good and it was shipped fast! I was unsure what to expect, because it was not an expensive television, but I am very happy with this product. The picture is excellent and the sound quality is very good; not tinny, but really very good! And I really like the voice activated remote control! The only drawback I found is that I could not download the Spectrum app because this is an Amazon fire stick ready TV and it is incompatible. I had an older ROKU device from my old TV so I was able to download the Spectrum app using the ROKU hooked up to one of the HDMI ports, so it was not a problem.I would purchase this television again and would definitely recommend it to others.

Very Nice Picture! Internal Storage Space is DIsappointing
I just received the new 40″ TCL Fire Edition HDTV. I was excited to hear that TCL was starting to make Fire Edition TVs!I have other branded Fire Edition TVs (Toshiba and Insignia) ranging from 24″ up to 43″. Also ranging from 720HD up to 4K (please note that this particular TV is 1080P).Pros:1. Fire OS of course! Like the other branded Fire Edition TVs, you have the ability to activate the “Developer Mode” by selecting the “TV” in the “My Fire TV” in the settings.2. You can install certain apps that are not organic to the Amazon App Ecosystem by downloading and using the “Downloader” App.3. You can also, like the other branded Fire Edition TVs, connect a USB Flashdrive and use it for expanded app storage (albeit that this is mostly applicable to the app types identified in Pro 2. listed above.4. Picture Quality is very good for being 1080P. Also, the bezel is remarkably small, leaving little wasted screen space!Cons:1. In stark contrast to the other brands of Fire Edition TVs this size, there appears to be only 8GB internal storage for apps. Other editions of this size TV normally have at least 12GB of internal storage, This means that the number of apps (future OS and App updates will quickly eat up this internal storage.2. Sound. This is the most common deficiency in Flat Screen TVs, small speakers. But the sound quality of this TV is not that bad. Like most all users, the addition of a sound bar or connection to Bluetooth Headphones or Speakers will do the trick!I’m using this as a “Tripod TV” (TV mounted on tripod to use outside during cookouts and sporting events, so it serves the purpose well. Especially for only $160 plus tax!I hope this review is helpful with answering questions that you may not be able to find elsewhere.Any updates to Pros and Cons will be submitted as they become know.

TLC 40inch tv
It’s a great tv, great picture quality, great sound and great price. I’m glad I didn’t listen to the few bad reviews which almost caused me to buy this tv but I’m glad I bought it.

Good picture bad sound
The picture was pretty good for this price point, however, I returned this TV as the sound was terrible I mean, even watching a news program sounded like garbage. I would recommend if you do buy this to use a sound bar as it has Bluetooth capability.

Do not waste your money
Not sure if the issue is TCL or Amazon – I’ve talked to both the manufacturer and Amazon tech support, neither were able to solve the issue and it sucked several hours away from life, because everyone has time for that.Troubleshooting -Setting up the TV:Step 1 choose your language.Step 2 connect to WiFi.From there the TV will automatically check for updates. Our other Fire TV has no issues with this and it’s furthest from the router, unlike this TV which is less than 10ft.No matter what steps we took for setup…manual, QR code, basic TV, 6 factory resets, unplugging the TV & router, etc…everything results in the “Unable to update your TV” error in photo.It simply will not move past this screen rendering the TV wholly unusable.

TV good remote bad
This is another fire tv made by the same company as the insignia co. One major issue that I have is withremote. The TCL remote is exactly the same as the Insignia and is poorly designed.. Can’t tell by feel the difference from right side up to upside down if in a darkened room. With the curved bottom you can’t press most of the buttons on a flat surface without it tipping left or right. Would like to see numbered keyboard for direct programed entry and a previous program button.

Commercials on some streaming services are BLARING loud. The built in Fire stick on this TCL does not allow volume leveling like on my other fire stick devices. Definitely a disappointment.

Audio cuts out
Audio will just stop working after you turn it off and back on again only way to fix it is to unplug it. Amazon sent a replacement and it’s doing the same thing.

A good tv
Everything on the tv works good so far. The standby light stays on all the time and can’t be turned off. It’s in a bedroom and the light is pretty bright which is annoying. That’s why I gave it 4 stars.

Value product.
Honestly gets the job done if you want a simple smart TV. Decent picture and color quality. My only complaint is the speakers, the sound is very cheap and low quality and I had to buy a separate speaker and connect it to the TV (which at least lets you do so easily and conveniently). Overall you are getting value for your money.

A great compact size TV!
I needed a small TV and looked around for a set to fit my space. I went with an Insignia brand TV first; after unboxing and powering it up, I was extremely disappointed with the build quality and image quality. The refresh rate was inadequate and caused any fast-moving program to stutter and leave a trail. I decided to return the Insignia TV and take a chance with this TCL TV. After unboxing this TV, I couldn’t be happier. The bezel-less design is attractive, and the image quality is incredible. All programming, from sports to movies, looks awesome. I enjoy watching this TV very much!

slight greying in the corner of the image -does not remember defaults fully so you have to select your input every timeno on switch on TV so need the remote.Otherwise quite nice – also as a computer monitor and has plenty of settings for picture quality…

The media could not be loaded.
Update as of October 20, 2023- I guess after this review posted some one some where did a software update and the TV now has an airplay option. It would have been nice to be notified of that, instead of just finding out when my husband checked one last time before packing it up.I wanted to order a new TV during Prime Days in October. I researched this TV by search for TV with Apple Airplay, and confirmed it was a feature. It is in the Amazon listing, and is on the box that was delivered, but as the video shows, it doesn’t work. My spouse who is better with tech then me contacted Amazon, and after about an hour on the phone, it still didn’t work. The support person took his email and sent a ticket requesting this video and photos of the packaging, which was submitted. We haven’t heard anything, and still have this TV that does not Apple Airplay. If your thinking of purchasing so you can use Airplay DO NOT!!!I have worked with Amazon Support before and am surprise how badly this is being handled!

Cheap TV, and it shows… Poor Picture, Poor Sound, & Ads all over the UI
The colors on this set are washed out, the edge lighting is very prominent in dark scenes, there is no support for HDR content, and the sound is muddled to the point I have trouble making out conversations. To make matters worse, navigating the Amazon Fire interface is extremely slow, and the UI is laden with so many rotating ads and useless ‘junk’ apps it is painful to use (much less see).If you want a small, inexpensive TV for a dorm room, this may be worth a look based upon price alone, but I would recommend spending an extra hundred and get something that actually looks & sounds a bit better.

I don’t like it
I was excited about this purchase but quickly disliked it thereafter. I am unable to download HBOmax app on this tv, because of my location even though I have no problem downloading it on my other none fire tv devices. Had I known this beforehand I wouldn’t have made this purchase. Also, when watching YouTube it keeps buffering and freezing quite often, it’s not the WiFi because I don’t have these issues with other devices. I don’t like it and I’m disappointed.

Amazing TV with the light from hell
The media could not be loaded.
The TV is amazing, picture quality sound and easy to use. Unfortunately, the light is a big problem for me. I have this TV for my bedroom and the light literally brightens the entire room. I need dark to sleep in. That is the only thing I don’t like about the TV, and I’m ready to return it because it is affecting my sleep so much.

Doubles as bright night light
The picture is good and the sound is ok…a little tin can like, but I’m so disappointed that when it’s turned off the remote sensor light is very bright. I bought this TV for my bedroom and I have to get up after turning it off and stuff a thick cloth over the remote sensor because it’s such a bright violet light it prevents me from sleeping. Of course the remote won’t work when the light is covered. I would not recommend this TV for a bedroom if you like sleeping in the dark.

LED light stays on
This is a fine TV, but the LED light on the front of the set cannot be turned off. It’s incredibly bright at night and annoying. According to the manufacturer, there’s no way to shut it off. I won’t be purchasing more of these TVs despite the overall quality being pretty nice.
