The external DVD drives allow me to enjoy the excellent speakers that come with my Mac laptop!
The ability to access my laptop speakers with the adapter is a bonus. I actually bought a separate DVD player designed for car use by kids. The sound quality was very poor.

Worked fine with my Mac Mini M2 chip computer
Plugged it in. Was recognized by my Mac Mini M2 with a blank CDR in it. Burned songs from iTunes no problems. Simple. No On/Off button or Eject button though.

If you use a damaged disk, you’re stuck
I bought this unit to copy my old disks over to digital media. It worked well for a couple of days, then I tried to copy what must have been a damaged CD. This unit froze, and would not respond to efforts to eject the CD. Most cd players have a pin-hole on the loading tray that allows you to manually eject the CD, but this one does not.

Not usuable
I needed a DVD player that my Mac Air could play on a projector. But the DVD player has to be plugged directly into the computer, not an adapter or converter. I had to use the Extender for the projector, and then I didn’t have a place to plug the DVD player into.

Quality CD burner!
I like to burn a lot of CD-R’s and this device is proving to be extremely easy to use and reliable. It really is plug and play! And the style matches my laptop. Very pleased.

Does the job!
Decent option for a lot less money than the Apple version. The plug and play interface can be a little tricky, but once you get your system to recognize the device you are good to go. It looks sleek, too.

Only buy this if you are a techy
I read the directions carefully and downloaded a DVD player from the Mac App store. I then played a DVD and it worked. The directions suggested that the player would also work with CDs so this morning I inserted a CD to listen to while I worked. The CD has not shown up on the desktop as promised. The new DVD player would not recognize it. and now I have an external player with a CD in it and no way to eject the CD. Spend the extra money to buy a player with an eject button. I just looked up the Amazon order number, required to get help from this company and I am about to email them. I’ll write again if they are helpful.

Great with my MacMini M1
I have a few DVDs around that I would like to watch once in a while. On top of that I had an MRI that they game me the pics of on a DVD. I got this and it was very easy to set up on my MacMini and has worked with no issues. The onscreen controls are easy to use and I have no complaints!

Work Well With Commercial DVD’s
Have the official Apple DVD player that works with all commercial & almost all of my homemade DVD’s. This player is a little loud durning operation & works with commercial manufactured DVDs. But about 80% of my software produced homemade DVDs did not activate the DVD software player on my Mac & those DVD’s were did not play and were auto ejected by this player.

Did not need to turn it over to eject
Some reviewers said they had to flip the drive over to eject their disks. I was OK with that, but found it wasn’t necessary. It works perfectly with my MacBook Air, which recognized the disks and played just fine. I’m very happy with it.

Wish I had known
This is the worst product I ever bought on Amazon and I’ve bought hundreds. This thing almost ruined my dvd. It doesn’t play. Has issues with almost every part of it. Makes weird noises and gets hot for no reason. I haven’t seen anything or used any cd or dvd because like I said it just doesn’t work. A shame

Works great
Works great with my Mac book pro! I can play old CDs with no problems. You do want to make sure you keep the device lying flat on a surface while using it.

Nice to have in the newer laptops.
I got this for my Dad. He has lamented several times that his laptop doesn’t have a CD/DVD player. He was quite impressed that all he had to do with this one was plug it in, and he had a CD/DVD player again. I love the slim design.
